Wonderful! Thank you very much!!
Does the Devastation line trait Ferocious Strikes work when wielding a shield? Or is a shield not considered a weapon? I haven’t been able to test, and I was wondering if someone could test/knew already. Thanks!
My 2c suggestion for rebound rework/redo/reskill/etc, would be something to go with overloads. What about a buff that grants quickness and causes all attunements to be overloaded upon swapping, that way you get to rapidly fire through the ones you need access to, AND quickly cast them (I am assuming quickness affects overloads cast times, I haven’t yet checked this…)
This would allow for integration with Tempest’s class mechanic (attunement overloads), or alternatively ignore the overloads and just use the quickness as it is. Maybe call it something like Recharged or Reloaded.
If it was a 6-7second duration then you could either choose to push out 1-2 overloads superfast, without having to wait for them to charge up while in an attunement.
(I dunno, I’m not master designer, or skill namer person.)
Give Eles a way to use a utility skill in the elite slot. Allow the elite to “copy” another utility once you use it, that is, use Rebound, use Mist Form, Rebound turns into Mist Form.
That’s basically Echo from GW1, and while Mesmers currently have mimic, if anyone was to get a pure Echo skill, I would believe it to be Mesmers.
The lack of sylvari is disturbing.
The lack of Norn is even more so!
My first is a human, my second is an asura, and my last will be a sylvari. 3 rev’s for 3 specs.
Here is Sticky the Tortured
How about instead of removing the pulls, you have a graduating radius? Start in 120 pull on first pulse, then 240 pull on the second with 360 pull on the third into float?
This gives a sense of centrality to the “event horizon” while limiting the effective targets hit? In pvp how often are all 5 other players going to be within 120 radius? (And if they are then shouldn’t they be vulnerable to be punished?)
Just my 2c idea
I can’t hop on the beta yet, can anyone confirm that you can play revenant on any race?
I need help…
Should I be Human or Asura? A little background, basically ALL of my characters are human male. Generally speaking, I just feel like armor looks good on them. However, I’ve always kinda wanted an Asura, but they’re less armor-friendly. But I came up with this concept look that I think is pretty cute, looks like a little hero, and I love their animations. Only problem is I’m a bit concerned with longevity of interest. Help.
Which of these do you guys actually like more?
I think it’s always good to spread the love over different races, especially since i find there are only a few different types of armours that i like per weight class, so switching up race can help.
Does anyone know if we can test other races on rev on the upcoming test weekend??
I’m definitely going to have to rethink my Revenants now they get two weapons…
Let’s hope there’s another beta soon!
If I do female human I’m fairly enamored of this look. It would finally be an alt to use some Carapace on. Heck, I might use it on a sylvari, even. Suddenly I feel I have to make a whole cadre of revs just so I can have all the looks I want … (the bunny ears were just for beta though, I promise, unless some RP reason springs to mind for her wearing them. Maybe she does it in a misguided attempt to seem friendlier to children, or something).
BEAUtiful. Simply stunning
I think this will end up being how Sikari Ashfield looks. Took a liking to purple, and especially the weapons that go with it. This, added to all the misty effects and Mallyx (planning on running mallyx/shiro), I think it’ll look pretty sweet on the battle field.
I love the way that the small flecks of purple are the highlights of the armour! It looks great. Definitely works with Mallyx too
While I am not particularly looking forward to Revenant at this point, I do have my look picked out.
Mmmmm she looks sleek! Love the double bolt too!
can’t make sylvari rev yet =(
/sad
Yeah, I’m making a sylv rev too, (i’ll make a couple i think, semi-altaholic…)
But I have him worked out!
Have you worked/planned yours out yet?
This is what a revenant looks like in my book.
Including mandatory poor man’s scythe, of course.
OHMYGOODNESS I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT USING SCYTHE SKINS! ARRGH LOOKS SO GOOD
Not my best work, but for a quick weekend character check out my Beta “Data” heh.
Haha! Perfect!
This is Talkora Virago. I named her after my favorite GW1 Hero.
I’m still playing with builds and gear.
NEVER! DUNKORO FOR LIFE! (that might be because I usually played prot, so we had no need for Tahl…)
I had a “Total Makeover Kit” in my bank. My last one actually but since the Beta characters don’t actually consume anything. I thought “Why not!” So here’s my sweet face Reve. I’ll probably go Charr come actual HoT release since I already have two humans (and two Sylvari but no Charr) or maybe even a Norn. But for now, she’s looks cute if I say so myself!
Oooh! That’s pretty sneaky ‘not-using’ the Makeover Kit, being Beta and all!
She’s looking pretty, but i definitely approve of exploring different races for your characters!
—Female characters’ audio is male grunts of effort when moving the centaur tablet or activating the tablet’s elite explosion utility.
I think that those grunts are Ventari as you are channelling him
Hammer 3 (Phase Smash) often causes pve mobs to reset
Phase Smash also does not work when casting to a lower position (z axis).
It looks like it does but the aoe is on the same level that you are casting from, not the destination level.

Looking pretty swish with those tormies, BlackLeech!
Named him Wrathful Was Zen and received a few compliments :P
Ah yes, I thought about Sticky Was Vengeful (but it didn’t fit my naming scheme!)
As is customary, let’s share our lovely spirit walkers!
Here’s Sticky The Invoker!
The trait honorable staff works, it increases boon durations. However the tooltips are not updated when you have staff equipped.
knox, you’re doing good work son.
Remain calm. They’ll get to it as soon as they can!
Hi there, (firstly thanks for the patch today, it’s a huge step in the right direction)
I’m having issues with crashing every time I try to log into a character in Heart of the Mists. Sometimes I get into a character in LA but usually it crashes before it loads there too. Otherwise if it does work it crashes less than a minute after I get in.
It’s happened once or twice to a character outside of LA/HotM but for those two places it is everytime.
Has anyone else had this issue?
The glow i have is a peach glow, so i’m not sure why it has a red colour along the vein.
oh well, nothing i can do i guess
( disclaimer: I’m not sure if this has been reported or not, as the search function doesn’t work in the forums)
The Female Sylvari Medium Tier 3 Cultural Armour has an issue were there are veins along the middle of the leaves on the back that cannot truly be dyed.
I have attached a screenshot showing this problem. Is this known?
i see, well that’s depressing :< but ty
I believed that the Kasmeer and Marjory weapons would be in the gem store until tuesday, which is soon, but i cannot find them in the store. Were they removed early? or was i mistaken?
Like the cover of the Sylvari Romance Novels. Roots of my Heart.
after going through them /again/, i’ve found that i don’t return to my normal clothing in brisban, the one near east end waypoint. is this what is causing me to stay at 37?
yes i am positive that i have no so secret, i watched it tick over as i landed in the second aetherblade base.
i’ve gone through the list, but there is no way to tell which one is the one that is not working, :< this is making me sad
Yep, i’m having the exact same problem, just finished all of the locations, and still on 37. Can we at least get a confirmation that something is wrong?
Instead I think link the influence EARNT To the size of the guild.
The smaller the guild the more influence you earn or the larger the guild the less you earn (so that proportionally it stays the same). I know Warhammer Online managed to do a similar system with guild XP – if you had say 1 member then 100% of the XP you earnt went to guild, 10 members then 10%,100 then it was 1%, 500 it was 0.2% etc.
This could be interesting, but I’m not sure about the complexity involved with this. Although they seem to have nailed the dynamic scaling side of formulas, so it could work. I just hope that they realise there is a huge portion of the community being severely affected by this.
In regards to leaving and rejoining, i don’t think that would work if this was implemented as the guild would ALREADY be leveled up to fit all the people in before they leave.
That way it can’t be abused by the large guilds that want cheaper upgrades.
There has been a HUGE amount of backlash on the forums and in game about the amount of influence required to unlock the guild missions. i understand that the idea is to create a sense of progression for guilds, but looking at the 330k influence i need to boost my guild to have access to the guild missions, (and more specifically the guild puzzles which is what i was looking forward to the most) it’s daunting and scary.
I suggest that somehow you link the level of the guild to the level of research needed to access the missions. For instance, if you have a level 2 guild, you only require level 2 Art of War upgrade to unlock the Guild Bounty Unlock. that way the smaller guilds are not required to attain such huge influence in order to access the same content available to the larger guilds.
Any way that you look at it, this has been shatteringly devastating to the smaller guilds that have members that want to have access to this content, and are leaving to join larger ones.
Clearly for something like this to work it would have to have some sort of qualification for this to prevent people from making smaller guilds then levelling them up once they have unlocked the missions with the lower influence (perhaps bought with gold for ease). Another solution would be to permanently link the required level of upgrades (Art of War/Politics/Economy/Architecture) to do missions to the level of the guild! For instance if there is a smaller guild that is level 2, that only requires 1500 influence to get to level 2 Art of War, then unlock the upgrade to do Guild Bounty (which may still require 50k or perhaps lower that also). Then when they level up to level 3, then make it so they cannot access those missions until they level up Art of War to 3.
Some system like this would help maintain the smaller guilds without having a mass exodus to the larger guilds.
I don’t know if this will even be read, but i would hope that options would be considered with sincerity.
tl;dr
link the level of upgrade (art of war/etc) required for the guild missions unlock to the level of the guild (the size).
(this is clearly open to critique and opinions, so don’t hold back)
movement speed caps at 33%, with the exception of the rune set that makes swiftness 40% (also other skills that increase directly above that, such as slick shoes for engineer),
so with soth and swiftness you will not run at 58% run speed
Echo. Echo was such an amazing skill, opened so many options and really felt like an elite skill. i miss it so much.
would be so good to have double phantasm/feedback/heal/etc
but i dream on
with some people on friends lists, and guild member lists, when hovering over their username i am unable to see their character/level/achievementpoints/area.
upon looking into it, i seem to think that it only shows those details if both you and they are friends. if this the reason? and if so, why do guild member lists comply with this, i don’t want to have to add everyone in the guild to friends just to see where they are.
correct, still not shows on clones. nor to offhand weapons, or titles.
nothing but projectile defense happens. i’ve fedback on a dagger storm and i avoid the dmg, but he lives. so i’m not sure exactly what happens, but, that. /shrug
brb making twilight.
well i definitely stand corrected and i apologise. it does indeed look better than i expected. i’ve seen screens of the skills and since seeing it in video… where it makes up for the lack of intensity in the skills it makes up for it in the between effects.
@kylia
yeah i realise that, veil was the same i believe(?)
the bug is that it doesn’t stack on ANY swiftness, that was what i meant. and youre right you can still stack swiftness AFTER TC.
:3
i loved reading things like this and knowing what’s going on.
this also instills faith that the forums is not an intrinsically bad place. many thanks
i’ve pondered doing this too, but the sacrifice is too great imo, also if you get ambushed you’re sort of caught with your pants down.
also, the temporal curtain does not grant swiftness if you already has some, (it’s a bug i assume) so that’s something to keep in mind when trying to stay mobile.
i agree with most things said, notably that in groups it’s almost negated as it’s a communal speed thing, and that centaur can help, but not ideal. focus and blink is enough to keep me sated. at first i was annoyed with no passive speed boost sig, but that means that i have an extra utility which i hold dearly (feedback, decoy, nullfield/thievery, mirror images, even veil sometimes. oh, and portal), and we dont really have too hard a time keeping up.
(not to mention the utility of curtain itself! cripple and a pull… GLORIOUS!)
in short, yes. if you want sweeping animations then gs mesmer is not for you. the things that change that the gs that is thrown with mirror blade GS2, and the clones GS too (thankfully). the animation beyond the trail on GS5 is no change, nothing on phantasm(GS4) and GS3 is the same also. the beam on GS1 is the same also (noticing a pattern?), so beyond t he movement trail from holding the gs and moving it back on GS1 and mirror blade there isn’t much.
i’m kinda gutted in that sense, because i quite like GS as a weapon skillset, but it really does not give incentive to work for a legendary. when looking at all legendaries:
sword, yea i guess it’s a good one, but (personally) the skin is a bit lacking and the constant arcing sound is grating.
pistol, phant and 1 pistol shot (lol)
torch (lolol)
scepter, i think we can agree it’s lacking in greatness when compared to things like twilight/sunrise.
minstrel? (i dunno about everyone else but that thing is hideous. also no animation)
so bifrost, ye i guess it’s a good one too, but i don’t like the rainbow trail (again, personally) and i much prefer something like the T3 asuran staff.
i’m working on the anomaly and vision of the mists as i think they look much cooler and fit the mesmer style.
this should not be taken as a DON’T DO IT, cos if you want to, go for it, but don’t expect sweeping animations like warrior or guardian (even ranger really)
/2cents
@effusion
“if you don’t mind trading efficiency for style (in pve) I think you’ll enjoy it a lot.” best line ever
well it sort of feels conflicted at the moment. gs is usually power/prec and revolve phantasm or shatter, but scepter is a cond weapon. i wouldn’t say scepter is a shatter weapon as the autoattack actually is a really poor clone generator.
what is your play-style of the build? conds, phants, shatters? mix of some of them?
if you are going phantasm focus you want 10-0-0-25-5 in my opinion to gain 20% cd on illus and 30% increased dmg for them. then maybe a 20 in dueling for fury on phants and pistol cd.
if you’re going conds and shatters you’ll wanna grab at least 10-20-0-0-20 for a selection of conf on shatter, mind wrack increases, bleeds from illus, and clone on dodge as a battery. maybe even 30 in dueling for the pistol reduction or an extra 10 in dom for gs 20%.
personally i think 5 in illu is standard for everything, /almost/ all mesmer builds involve illusions somehow, and can’t go wrong with 20% reduction to cd. i would also say 10 in insp is also a great choice wth mender’s purity for cond removal on heal, very very handy.
some base points to look at, (i always find more fun in buildstorming myself and running exactly how i want rather than fotm of everyone else)
it doesn’t matter what level you are, it depends on what level the item is when trying to put a gem or rune into something. so even if you are 40 and using a lvl 35 rune/gem it won’t go in.
i may be wrong and it might be broken, but keep that in mind when trying.
definitely get gear upgrades, first port of call when hitting 80 is to focus on that. first first port of call is weapon, that’s the biggest difference i find. then look at making some armour, even rare 80s are good, and they are significantly easier to make than exo 80s.
staff is a bit more of a complex weapon, if you want dmg try gs with phantasm dmg or shatters.
atm condition focused builds are weak, save bleed rangers/thieves, but i haven’t kepts up on how they fair lately. also cond focus builds suffer when there are more than 3-4 people as bleeds don’t stack beyond 25 which is an easy target.
definitely remember to use runes, you can get super cheap ones, even if they aren’t set superiors ones.
experiment with builds constantly til you find one that fits with your style.
for dungeons, it’s a team effort, and i wouldn’t say it’s YOU that is making the runs 1.5hr long. don’t underestimate your contribution to the group in utility. feedback and nullfield are powerful utilities in dungeons, not to mention the projectile defense from a traited focus, and really help on range only bosses.
also remember to choose are sets that compliment the trait choice you make. it’s generally not a good idea to have toughness and healing if you want to make a high dmg pres/prow build. my tip is to make an explorer set, pres/power is a safe choice with mf, it’ll keep decent enough dmg while giving a very usable farming set.
don’t underestimate your accessories either, i find they were a bigger boost for me than armours, however exo ones can get pricey to buy or make.
all something to work towards, so take your time and enjoy it.
