Also I would like to say I am 43 years old and have been testing playing even a gm in a few games over my time playing mmos. And for a company to see and know a thread like this is out there and not respond is just a slap in the face to those of us taking the time to post our issues with your change to the visuals.
Saddens me a bit when i watch their HoT launch video again with the CEO saying how we the players etc etc and they love us and then this and by this I mean that arrogant post on reddit by Mr Collins.
I am pretty sure they are aware of this thread more and more now. I also sent a tweet to them about this and on facebook. And I am sure we will see some action taken to fix the unhappiness they have caused(or so we can hope)
Agreed ANET will not receive another dollar from me until this is rectified. QUIT nerfing effects for the sake of crappy esports!
All your doing ANET is alienating your player base more and more…..sad. IF people were not into visuals we would not be buying dyes and awesome looking legendary items and choosing classes as well sometimes based partly in how cool they perform visually in game. Not to mention alot of the items in your gem store are based on visuals not just functionality.
So not one more penny from me until some of these so called visual adjustments are reverted.
AS title states I am low lvl only a 52 necromancer and prefer my contribution be from PvE …course will pvp and wvw if need be but not my thing….just looking for friends ….
People are so thin skinned these days I see nothing wrong with this post here as this is a community that come together to discuss their likes and dislikes yes this is gw2 but tons of other topics are discussed that do not deal with the game and while some of you may feel it does not belong here a lot feel it does.
Your not forced to read it you can easily just move on….but nothing wrong with showing sympathy for another human and if you think that is wrong then you need to rethink how you view situations like this in life.
Yes I know we all can solo but I mean efficiently is what I was getting at….thanks again to Kodiak for sending me some tips but I do have to say that sword auto attack while in shiro using the quickness at low lvls i run out of energy before most single target are dead so I am assuming that method is for when your higher lvl? I am only up to around lvl 20 now.
From 1-10 use Sword. If you need an Offhand, either Sword or Axe works roughly the same with Sword offering more Defense and Axe offering more CC. At 10 you want to continue using Sword/Sword and now Hammer. Hammer is useful for tagging events and with a proper Power based setup does very well.
First Legend you should unlock is Legendary Assassin. Getting up to Impossible Odds is “enough” and don’t need to go further early on. Save points for maxing out Trait Line. Sitting in Assassin just using Impossible Odds and Auto Attack should do the bulk of your work against single targets. The second legend can be Jalis, more defensive, or Mallyx, more offensive when unlocked, but early on your points should be focused on unlocking the first trait line fully.
First Trait Line you should get/max out is Corruption. The main reason for this is because of Maniacal Persistence. This might be a controversial choice, but honestly 10% crit every second in combat is huge early on and lower level when you don’t have decent crit rating. Even with a lot of precision, when you are lower level you won’t get much crit, like even in fully Ascended at 80 I drop from 40% crit to 15% crit from precision so boons like Fury and buffs like MP are great early on. Some people suggest Invocation, for Fury access, but honestly you don’t get enough Fury access yet to really make advantage of Roiling Mists until Herald.
Second Trait line can be Invocation or Devastation. Invocation is great cause it boosts Fury which is more crit. Devastation works because Maniacal Persistence gives you enough steady crit to take advantage of all that Ferocity. Either method really works, as around this level you will mostly have access to gear that adds Power/Ferocity so getting more Crit works or going more Ferocity works too.
Third Trait Line is usually whatever you didn’t pick for second. However since this is 71 you should have a fairly good handle on things.
At 80, when going for Herald, it is viable to use the third line once you unlock Facet of Nature. You can use One with Nature for Swiftness, then Impossible Odds for Super Speed to run around full speed. However I generally didn’t find Herald worth it until I got Darkness but your mileage will vary.

About to create a Rev Asura so he will be level 1 any builds out there say geared for the first 40-50 lvls? most everything I see is all about 80 and after, which is great but that will not help a low level. Also I will not be using exp tomes as I do not have any and that would not help me learn the class much by just power levelling up that way.
So searched around as I said most guides none are geared towards the initial levelling process…Or just I just run beginner maps for completions and level that way?
Also whats the highest rank mob a Reve has soloed well? I will of course do group content when I can with my guild and pugs but for the most part a lot of my leveling will be alone due to my odd schedule being able to hop on and play through out the day.

Just started a necromancer(my only class) and just want to use my pets to PvE and of course run group pve content later on. I do own HoT but mainly for the pve content not the specialties.
One question does come to mind can I solo (when needed efficiently) with the reaper spec and still use my pets?
And last question how can one earn exp tomes etc outside of pvp or is that a pvp thing only?
well i logged in after 4 months and I hate how everything works now and because im not max lvl or 71+ I lose a line so now im a 1/3 weaker yeah prolly not gonna come back to gw2 sigh
AS title asks do we? because I enjoy my necromancer…I do not pvp and I pve and im casual so I feel no need to have the best of anything just enjoy the game is my goal. But I have been away and a few months and want to start playing my only class I have which is my asura necromancer…I see Reaper is the spec for that class coming with HoT’s but it looks like the Reaper does not get pets(summons)? If that is so are we still able to play in the expansion as the base class still? Though i am only 50 s I am in no rush to even buy HoT’s as of now as I prolly wont hit the lvl needed for months yet.
Just do not see the point of HoT’s if you do not want to be one of the new specs.
Not sure why everyone is a spread sheet warrior as I call it lol. I just play my necromancer because I like a pet based class and enjoy the class in general. I do not nor do I feel the need to be the best or have the best gear as long as I am enjoying myself I think that is all that is important but I am told that is wrong….and why would I even play the game??
I think people get WAY to caught up in gear and stats etc and forget your there to have fun…Also does the reaper get to still use his/her pets(summons) if not then not interested in all at going into that spec with HoT’s

For leveling, focus more on damage stats, generally more power/prec.
Get your flamethrower and Bomb kit, bombs are good for kiting and dropping bombs for them to run through, flamethrower can just torch a whole group.
Get speedy kits asap, until then Elixir B and Elixir H are probably going to be pretty nice, travel time when leveling is hugely important.
If you go flamethrower, Juggernaut is nice, bombs Forceful explosions is great.
Thing about leveling is you won’t have access to most traits for a while so giving a whole build is just kind of silly as you’ll be adjusting through the leveling process. Just keep the above in mind and it should be helpful.
Ohh and I’d use Rifle mostly, pistol/shield has uses but it’s not really the best while leveling. It’s more of a utility thing for say blasting might/stealth, or utilizing the block/daze components. When leveling, Jump Shot -> BLunderbuss -> Flamethrower kit -> FLame Blast/detonate, you can usually kill most trash with just that quick combo.

I have googled and searched through the forums and alot of the info is geared towards PvP which is fine but I do not PvP so those guides are pointless, and or the other ones are so outdated they to are not helpful.
So can anyone point me in a direction as to a guide for levelling solo(pve). That or what are stats I should concentrate on(remember im starting from lvl 1)
Haven’t played in a long time and am back now and starting fresh with new characters, so my question as I am a bit vague where I can get some tomes and scrolls of knowledge other then PvP and WvW? Is there a living story I can do and get them or a current event?
I don’t mind grinding some lvls but some scrolls even a few would be nice if there was a way to acquire them other then PvP and WvW(since I dislike that aspect of the game and frankly I suck at it lol).
So maybe it is me or my bad server choices? Been here since beta and after my six month leave my server that I had played on"Tarnished Coast" is really either full of arrogant rpg’ers(which I love rpg) or complete kitten ’s. And if you do not rp then they ignore you! And on the other hand the rest just seem like they are 10 year old ’s or so it seems?
So I deleted all of my characters and am looking for a server that enjoys rpg, fun and of course the feeling of community without the constant drama or do I just bow out and not play(hence the drama……get it)
Love my Asura race but branching out(oh ha a pun!) Any who have always found Sylvari mysterious from their story line and wanted a necromancer as my second class.

Yeah what I had assumed….Guess I will have to force myself to play solo/alone on maps and just try to get exp faster till I get into some populated areas but very slow for me seems slower now then when I first started when game launched but that may have been the newness aspect and playing non stop lol.
Decided to come back after 6 months away from game and just start over problem is while I do enjoy soloing I seem to be the only player i’ve seen for last 12 levels. Think I may have run into a whole 2 people in 3 days of playing.
Are there just not that many that play anymore(with new characters) I’m sure at high lvl areas there are people but yeah low lvl just seems like i’m playing a offline rpg at the moment.
Or perhaps it is just my server not sure but says its very high on server load.
PROBLEM NOT SOLVED! This is instructions I used to fix error but then once i chose character client crashed and now back to same cant login to patcher
1. Press and hold the Windows key and then hit the R key. This should bring up the Run dialog box.
2. Type “MSCONFIG” without the quotes, and click “OK.” This should open the System Configuration Utility.
3. Click on the “Services” tab and check the “Hide All Microsoft Services” check box near the bottom, then click the “Disable All” button. (You MUST click “Hide all Microsoft Services”)
4. Next go to the “Startup” tab and click the “Disable All” button.
5. Once these items are all disabled, click the “OK” button and you will get a prompt to restart your computer. Please restart your computer.
So it worked once but could only get to character screen once i hit play game crashed….so no clue why this is happening nothing new has been installed on my computer and drivers are all up to date as i said no antivirus is turned on as well as firewall is off.
I can login fine on the website but when I try to log-in to the patcher to play after a few moments I get the error that says “The Game client is unable to gain access to the log-in server at this time. This is most commonly caused by firewall or router settings, security applications, or connecting through a campus network. For additional support please visit tech forum.”
Been playing fine till today so not sure what it would be? my router settings have not c hanged and I have firewall off and not running any anti virus software. So is it on their end?

So have not had time to play due to real life issues and of course other mmos that have pulled me away from this one.
So I do not have a really high level character to start off with and since it has been 6 months since I have played should I just scrap my old character and start fresh?as I have forgotten most of what is going on in game.
My two classes I was playing at the time were the Necromancer and Mesmer and I am not sure if a lot has changed with them game mechanics wise.
I tend to play solo more then group(unless it’s for a Dungeon) and I despise pvp so that would be out of the question as well.
Starting a ranger and I used search function but seems to always bring topics up that do not even deal with my question…which is as a ranger starting out what stats on staring gear are most important to us? say the top 3 in what order im speaking of power precision etc.
Hey guys I’ve searched through the builds here but not sure which to go with…I not big on pvp at all so I am wanting to build a ranger towards pve and that levels fairly fast.
Any links to builds i should look into…so I know what stats to start with and what to graduate too as well as where skills and utilities I should use for this and traits i first should start to level.
I will keep looking as well but figured maybe someone out there might know of a few build guides geared towards my wants.
So as title says I always liked the class and am big on pets and really its the only class other then ranger and I prefer magic casters in general. I know during launch there were lots of issues with minion balance as well as other issues.
My question are minions ai a bit better now or still horrible? is there more balance now in the class?
I prefer to solo(but most classes can in this mmo so thats a no brainer) but id like to know my minions are worth using as well as contributing to dmg.
And I am not big on pvp a dabble a little but im more into dungeon runs,pve content.
Thanks for all your feedback! I was just expressing how I felt. I have been playing and testing these things wow going on 17 years now…getting older by the day but still enjoy them. I just hope down the road with all those “dedicated teams” they have they churn outand grow the world as they said they are going to do…just Ncsoft I have little faith in not the dev team Arenanet.
To the poster above me(Alloy) I never said “game is dying” I said it seemed content wise to really have slowed for me, and I feel ArenaNet sold me on something they are only half living up too…hence the reason I bought the game because alot of what I was looking forward to would be in this game and it is but to a very meager extent.
Just hopping Dev’s really bring something exciting and dynamic in the next content patch(not bug or fix patch).
Seems mmorpg.com article today speaks alot to my view on the game now. I am so bored and other then the occasional holiday event the game is bland…Whats happened to all the ground breaking and dedicated teams providing content too all aspects of the game?
I do not even have a lvl 80 I just fell out of love I guess with the game and not sure why….I play solo alot as most players I tend to meet in game are very immature,rude or just plain annoying or maybe im the annoying one who knows.
I thought you guys would be able to keep up with how Rift puts it’s updates out….just a bit dissappointed is all I havent even logged on in a week or so..guess its f2p makes it not so bad but still was hoping the game would have added more content for all not just high lvl grindy folks.
Well as a gay male I welcome the inclusion of this races diversity, I agree for some folks it may be a bit awkard or a shock but as a gay male I have the straight thing forced (if that is what the OP wants to call it) on me all the time and in my face., And yet I seem to still enjoy games, life etc.
It’s 2012 still suprised so many folks still want to keep things like this out of games,movies etc and refuse to accept us as the norm…I applaud Anet for doing this for the sylvari. not that they are gay as its been said they are pansexual.
So I notice I cant apply say a magic find stone to any of my items i have on armor,jewelry and or weapons and it says any unused item slot so its not weapon only…now I did a server transfer I wonder if its because of that…but i do notice even some items I have gotten on new server I can apply the stones to only certain one even though the stone does not specify armor or weapon..
yeah use the new chase liquid prepaid or capital one prepaid they dont have those fees at all fee wise the same as your own atm card if you had an account with them for a checking/savings.
Ok so I decided to join the new server Caullie’s Crossing but then i noticed was really dead and so would rather just stay on a more populated server for now. Problem is the server Caullie’s Crossing is no longer on the server list and when i try to transfer i get a network error and client closes as it would if you changed servers, but when i login im still on the Caullie’s Crossing.
Now that the server Caullie’s Crossing is not showing up t he one i joined…I cant even transfer off of it now, im sure its because its not showing up on the list has something to do with it..great stuck on a dead server
yeah odd but im on it so wonder whats going on lol so lonely here id rather stay on a fresh server but if folks cant see it to join then well …sorta hard to get a pop on it.
