A nice little mixture of eotm and skyhammer...
First screen is clearly fake, as I don’t win matches.
Matchmaking doesn’t seem improved because it’s simply not.
Come on guys. I’m still working on improving it based on real data. Help me out and give me specifics. Don’t make generalized statements like this unless you’ve got something to back them up.
We can improve things, we just need to work together.
Another example from today (20.12.14 13:00 GMT)
- 5 people solo queuing versus full premade
Matchmaking doesn’t seem improved because it’s simply not.

Here you go, class stacking, much? (10 people solo queuing)

Matchmaking doesn’t seem improved because it’s simply not.
I honestly can’t remember the last person I’ve spoke to who actually rates queues times over matchmaking itself. As for myself, I’d rather wait 20 minutes for a proper match, instead of the freaking garbage matches I’m currently being put in, while solo queueing.
I don’t think they realize how much this will discourage new players and hurt the growth of the pvp community.
Matchmaking has never been worse, well done.
Are you playing in Ranked or Unranked? Unranked has a new MMR, so the matches could be unfair until your rating adjusts. We’re looking into copying previous Team Arena MMR into Unranked as well which should aleviate this.
This. People don’t get that you guys reset mmr with this patch....
Notice how he specifically asks about if it’s ranked or unranked? As far as I’m aware the MMR for ranked was still going to be kept, and not reset like you seem to be claiming.
Based on the couple of ranked matches I’ve tried so far, the new system doesn’t seem to take into account these couple of things:
- Class stacking
- Skill level/experience
- Amount of people queuing together
The majority of the matches I’ve done has been completely 1-sided, for obvious reasons, pretty much all of them has included variations/combinations of the 3 elements mentioned above; everything from class stacking(4 warriors on 1 team), full premade against 5 people solo queuing, and new people that hasn’t touched spvp before getting teamed with/against people who has played well above 3k games.
This is entirely from a solo queuing point of view.
What’s your diet?

This game is not e-sport worthy, this game is a joke.
A joke with best combat system ever created, a totally wasted potential due to terrible devs decisions.
didn’t you know that devs don’t make decisions?
follow the link on my signature, and say you are sorry.
these reviews are actually very, very, very, very disturbing. i suspected, that something was going on, but this actually gives me the creeps just reading it. sounds like you need a bottoms up full fledged revolution down there at arena net!
If these reviews are legit it is indeed very disturbing.

Description: 2 to 3 seconds delay on most skill/utility, mainly while doing SPvP. Often followed up by at least 1 disconnect every half an hour. Game is pretty much unplayable at the moment.
This game doesn’t deserve the playerbase it once had.
And 300g for a color is almost an insult for people who have been playing a game mode neglected for a year.
Almost? It’s waaay beyond that point. Let me be figurative here: It’s to the point where after years of ignoring us they suddenly come to us, start mocking us, then knock us out with a punch, start kicking us and at the moment they are urinating on us. That’s how it feels like.
Spot on.
Why hasn’t this pile of kitten been removed yet? Do you really hate your playerbase this much?
"Please show me on this doll where the mean wvw’ers touched your friend."
I’ll take this into consideration when I’m making it. I’ll elaborate more on this later, it just came up as an idea cause I like making videos to send out to the young community. winky face
This is so wrong…
I am a pretty chill guy irl, it is not my nature to get rage. Like at all.
However occasionally, in map chat or directed at a certain team member, I can get rather angry. I’m an experienced PvPer. I enjoy good games with good team mates against good opposition. After multiple games of being disallowed this and versing players using hotjoin builds etc, I do start to get a bit angry.
My anger is absolutely directed in the wrong places, it’s not the players fault, it’s matchmakings fault for putting r80’s with r5’s who weren’t really sure where they should be qing anyway.
I think there’s a lot in the same boat as me, changing the matchmaking to base it closer to experience would reduce a huge amount of the general negativity in PvP and would make it a lot more welcoming for new players playing alongside fellow new players.
This.
Mortal bookahs, bow down to your new master!
What armor skin is that?
Yeah, I’m also curious about this.
Truly enjoyed watching the stream of the tournament for the past few hours. Never expected such a portion of teams in the EU region to be competitive, there’s actually been quite a few intense matches in the later rounds. Also lots of different compositions/builds etc. which is clearly a promising sign.
Credit to Blu & Sireph for the amazing shoutcasting as well. Small errors here and there, but overall I think this has to go down as the most "professional" tournament that has been held so far.
Well done.
PS: Remove skyhammer.
I think this was one of the big issues, to be honest.
A player who really doesn’t understand sPvP would press “Play Now” and be thrown into this hectic zerging of 8v8 and just get an entirely wrong impression. I know quite a few players who tried sPvP, played casual 8v8 hotjoins with rampant team switching and server-switching, and were just so soured at the way the whole thing worked that they never bothered to play again.
5v5 brings far more order and sanity to a game, and gives a better place for complete newbies to practice.
I’m glad that ANet is gently trying to push hotjoins into 5v5s. It will make the game much, much better.
Spot on. Anet removing 8v8 servers were one of the best changes this patch brought.
The genius that decided it was a great idea to implement unlockable traits/amulets/sigils/runes etc. deserves to be shot.
Also, the Dungeon tracks are a joke.
That is all.
What decides which 16 teams gets to compete?
Regardless of you being a bit of a kitten I enjoyed playing with/against you.
Take care
And even better, it counts as a loss, regardless of if your leading or not.
Confirming that this is actually happening.
But...but...esports?
Talked to Telenors customer support today. They were not interested in helping, it seems that they are not willing to even look at the problem as it is related to a game and everything else seems to be working fine.
Exactly. It’s blatantly obvious that it’s Anet who needs to communicate with the providers involved. But I highly doubt Anet even knows about the difficulties we are currently having …
Same issues as the people above, with the game being unplayable since Wednesday.
Game is constantly laying in between 300-400ms in latency.

As others have pointed out prior to my post, I also firmly believe that this is an extremely horrible idea, that needs to be scrapped and buried as soon as possible. Ideas like this honestly baffles me, and it really makes me question the persons in charge, of this part of the game, when beyond stupid suggestions like this are brought out to the community.
It basically goes against the fundamental principle of Gw2 SPvP; Equal footing. I personally would, without a doubt, prefer if these changes didn’t went through, as I have no urges to be superior over other’s because I had the ability to purchase and unlock certain amulets, sigils and utilities. From my point of view it looks very much like this is done in order to create grind, for the sake of grinding.
If this is what they have to offer in terms of upcoming changes we might as well call it a day, uninstall and find something better to do.

However, I know some are nervous, possibly a little embarrassed about being on camera but I would like them to speak more clearly, mumble less and try to avoid looking down all the time. Just because it enables the viewer to understand them better.
Jon Sharp is very, very clearly spoken and I can understand every word he says. Also, he is best at staying on topic and covering all the points. Looked really tired in yesterdays vid thou, go get some sleep!
Agree entirely with this.
On another note, I don’t really get the idolizing of that guy (Helseth). While he occasionally makes some valid and obvious points, surely there has to be others out there for you lot to worship, instead of a egocentric jerk like him.

Nothing was done with the exploiters, and basically everyone who hasn’t taken advantage of this is shown a gigantic middle finger by Anet ...
In before you get infracted as well ...
Might be wrong but it’s 60g per piece, so 360g per full set
You are wrong, it’s 60g for the whole set.
I think it’s obvious for everyone to see that if there is information about who took advantage of this exploit available, then these persons need to be rolled-back to where they started out, at minimum.
Anything other than that is a massive slap-in-face to every single one of us who’s leveled up in rankings, and earn’t glory, in a legit way.
I’ve played roughly 20 games today, not a single kitten one has been close, every single match has been a blow-out where 1 team dominate the other.
Higher ranked players are matched together versus lower ranked ones.
Tell me again how this has "fixed" anything.

Come on Aurora. Stop blobbing everything down.
Even VcY runs with the 60+ blob now… this is so low.
Finally you took to your senses, and this is yet another step in the right direction
I love it!

The highlight of the stream looked to be the amount of different boss mechanics ...
Never thought I’d say this but I’m actually looking forward to fighting blobaddon and FR after this dull week.
Thursday was obviously an exception though, and I would like to thank Ins, PT and the rest of deso for the fights on UW border.
Will we be seeing a short preview of the new area in obsidian sanctum as well?
AG are a poor server this over on Sunday, thats how bad it was, winning prime time against pugs isnt great. But you lot post pictures and fights from youtube
Apparently capping everything when there’s little to no resistance is the way to go …
1) Population imbalance (Force people to spread out, instead of gifting them for bandwagoning on already stacked servers. Lowering the map cap would be a good start.)
2) Account wide ranks
3) Commander system (Including adding a guild-commander icon, so we can actually take use of the targeting function for it’s actual purpose.)
This is a great change, and I disagree entirely with the OP of this thread.
and you convinced me the most out of everyone.
I didn’t expect it to be that easy to convince someone with such a deluded mindset, I’m glad I succeeded.
