A bit late for this post seeing as the game is 3+ years old but could something be done about the hand positions on swords and such?
Yes tis a minor issue.
Here is an example.
I see this on many swords. Looks weird/goofy/stupid. Why is the hand so far down the grip?
Makes my forearm hurt just by looking at it.
Does this not bother anyone else? O_o

Do you like grind? Then masteries are for you.
Nah seriously though I’ve mixed thoughts on them.
I guess they are good if you want something to work towards. Takes ages so you’ll nearly always have a goal to pursue.
But then they feel pretty useless and uninteresting don’t they? For me it’s that mastery tracks have things I don’t care about that I need to go through before I get to the good bits.
Does “metroidvania” style of progression really work in an mmo anyway? It’s just annoying that I can’t do that event or play with those guys because I’ve not done enough grind yet. Not to mention everyone has been there and seen that already. Those places and things to see don’t seem special at all.
Not to mention HoT masteries are for HoT areas and can’t be used anywhere else.
Anyway you’re not alone in your opinions. Been many a thread such as this one.
Eh yeah man I understand the feels.
My tank like Guardian had a place in the raid up until goreseval.
After dealing with the VG you more or less become useless as a tank.
Best to go in with a set of zerker and a nomads amulet handy for when you need to switch up for the next boss.
The same build wont get you through the whole raid without slowing the team down I’m afraid.
I get that this game is trying to be different but the problem is it does not do being different well.
Not to mention even light/medium armored classes can tank. So there is no real meaning in going heavy armor.
Bosses really should hit harder to fix this.
Wow really does do raiding better. But hey it’s only the first raid to come out in Gw2 so w/e. Still time to fix them.
Only just got into pvp.
I do okay against most things but the one class I can nearly never beat is the necromancer.
Any pro tips for fighting these guys?
They seem to soak up so much damage.
Running the generic Gs/scepter and focus medi build from meta battle.
Maybe for mesmer also?
Yeah WoW is pretty awesome, the lore/world/characters are great.
Looking forward to Legion…aside from the killing off of some of these great characters….Tirion…Varian….Why Blizzard…spoilers…
God I wish we had such characters in Gw2. Strong and manly/masculine/w/e! Manly voice actors! Not skinny kitten mode like the ones we have in Gw2. God they are just so kitten weak here.
Stronger looking body options please Anet for Humans. Sick of my skinny legs.
I’m not kidding, If the characters of Wow went to war with Gw2 characters Wow would probably win through staring Gw2 down. No contest.
Everything just feels so…feminine…
Also agree with classes needing more defined roles, everyone being able to do mostly everything sucks. I don’t know why I’m playing a heavy class anymore.
I had hope when it came to raids but twas disappointed. Necros and Eles can tank kitten .
I’m starting to wonder why I even play this actually. O_o
I felt like an important part of a team tanking the Vale Guardian with my okay toughness and adequate damage. Once I hit Goreseval though I pretty much sat there wondering what the hell I was even doing there.
Tanking whilst pumping out mediocre damage is okay but another class can do it better than you in LIGHT/MEDIUM armor, which annoys me.
Why the hell am I playing a heavy class again?
We all know other classes can beat our dps so why are we even trying when it comes to a fight such as Goreseval? It almost seems selfish does it not? I’m in this raid to get ahead but I’m slowing everyone down!
Jack of trades but a master of none.
You know if the raid bosses hit harder then maybe we won’t be seeing light/medium tanks. Bosses need a damage buff.
I only play Guardian and I won’t play another class. Ugh all these things just demotivate me to play.
Yep that turned to kittening quickly.
So now we know each dragon has a “weakness”
hahahaha ok so Mordremoths weakness is pulling a “Freddy Krueger” on him eh?
So Zhaitans “weakness” is battleships and huge cannons?
Oh boy what luck we have they were invented just in time for his awakening else there would be no chance of winning ever.Reminds me of something I once saw on youtube:
One guy runs in and says “I discovered the zombies weakness”, the other asks “what is it?” and he answers “bullets”.
I wonder what Zhaitan’s weakness actually was. O_o
“Metroidvania” style progression does not seem to working that well in this game for me at least.
Maybe it is just the way it has been delivered here. Exp grind and all that. Maybe it’s that there are not many interesting ones.
You know I think it’d have been better if we had unlocked them overcoming great challenges like boss fights and crazy jump puzzles or something, like how we get that mastery track for beating the Vale Guardian for the first time.
Mixed feelings about that one though. It’s cool that we get another line but uncool that we need to complete it in order to beat the raid. Prolonging the time it takes to beat the kitten thing. Gating, gating everywhere.
I don’t really care for masteries honestly, only at mastery 14.
I’d rather we had just gained in power instead. It’d make sense seeing as the things we fight are getting stronger also. I mean if we never gain strength how the heck will we beat the next dragon? Didn’t they wake up in order of power or something?
Sure keep the armor/weapons/gear as is with it only reaching ascended but let my body and mind grow stronger at least. Working out always but I’m destined to forever be at this plateau.
Yeah we gained elite specializations but these gave us more utility instead of strength really. This is how It has felt so far anyway.
And kitten Anet give my Human male thicker legs. Even at the tankiest body size my characters legs are still skinny asf. Maybe this is why he did not gain power. Kept missing leg day so his foundation is weak. Bet he’d shatter his ankle walking over a curb.
More body types kitten!
Off topic but w/e.
(edited by Templar.3418)
Overall it was pretty kitten good if you ask me. Only problems I had was how short the story felt (For an expansion) and how easy It was to beat Mordremoth.
We discovered his weakness way too quickly and easily if you ask me.
The final battle was awesome as was the music but I was kind of hoping to see Mordremoth as this gargantuan dragon like the ones in the concept art.
I’m glad they let me cut him though.
Looking forward to living world season 3. Hopefully it won’t be sub-par.
Edit: Yeah it did end quite abruptly there which was disappointing. No prologue and all that.
(edited by Templar.3418)
They are probably saving it for living world season 3.
Kinda sucks but w/e.
Wait wait wait…. So they took out all those gold sinks a feature patch or two ago and now they are introducing gold sinks to old content on top of removing gold influx from old content to “drastically” fix the gold economics, thus putting the most incentive on their more recent additions, part of which has a price tag?
puts on tinfoil hat Let the conspiracy theories commence!
$ for gold brah.
Shouldn’t this be obvious? O_o It’s not that tin foil haty really.
Tis inconvenience by design in order for them to make money as F2P games generally do. Can’t stand that. Yes this game is B2P but they have a cash shop as a F2P game would.
It really is the one thing I absolutely hate about Gw2, the kitten gem to gold conversion.
Should’ve just stuck with cosmetics, pets, tools or w/e.
Hey, it’s all justified in the business mind right? Not to do so would be “leaving money on the table”.
But then they put in a way to trade in game gold for premium currency. If we make too much money we’ll just trade it in for gems instead of buying it with our real money. Gotta keep those money making ways nerfed.
Maybe I’m wrong in every regard but it is REEEAAAALLLLYYYYY hard for me not to look at it in this way when you put things together. Also my experience with many mmos over the past few years.
(edited by Templar.3418)
I agree also.
Nice job with the music Anet.
Clearly most think the game is great but the grind is bringing it down a bit.
You really REALLY feel the grind here.
The story, visuals, voice acting, dialogue, AI, fights, new monsters, areas and just everything is awesome.
But for the third time, dat kitten grind.
Did I mention that it’s grindy as hell?
(edited by Templar.3418)
Yeah it is pretty grindy.
Everything else has been top notch so far.
But yeah…the grind is real.
That potential fine of $2500 for being inattentive seems a little stupid though. O_o
You’d be stressing in that recording box hardcore.
Anyone NOT planning on using the new specs??

Depending on how Dragonhunter changes Virtue of Justice, I might not bother with it on my Guardian. I like my current burn build a lot but Dragonhunter seems very poor for condi builds, especially since removing bleeds from traps.
Condi Guards desperately need another condition, preferably one fire elementals and destroyers aren’t immune to.
I don’t get that. Isn’t the fire we wield more “holy” or something than just regular fire? Fire elementals and the like shouldn’t be immune to it. You know…as it’s a different kind of fire…sort of thing.

I only play Guardian and I’m sure as hell not going near the DH.
The name is enough to keep away from it.
“High concept” HURRRDURRRRR
And well I prefer to be in the thick of the fight, up close and personal protecting my allies with my body and sword etc etc etc.
Also….traps…..COME ON. Ranger wannabe.
Symbolism is important….
It’s so you buy $20 worth of gems instead of $10.
I kittening hate cash shops.
DragonHunter and Daredevil. kittening lol.
I swear this game is made for children.
Like 12 under.
Potential for kittenery everywhere but nope. Have friendship, kittens and rainbows.
Edit: That kitten filter is a good example. Replaces words with Kitten.
Some things just can’t be described with clean words.
fake gurdian!
beserker > dh
any elits spec> dh
gurdian= spec less
Fake Guardian. I like this.
Inferior class taint.
Why is Writ Of persistence and force of will under same tier? T.T
Two important heal traits shouldn’t collide with each other
It’s crippling support build. Not fun really..
I too dislike this.
I would run both before the trait change.
kitten we talkin bout RL issues in a game designed to keep us entertained and away from RL…. you people are nuts!
It’s more trying to become immersed in the world and lore that has been created than debating real life issues and the like.
You know. What kind of world am I playing in? Which characters or events are significant? Who are the guys I’m fighting? What place does my character have in all of this etc etc.
For some, like me, these things are vital to the enjoyment of the game.
Lol this sounds exactly like the Cerberus kinda of argument for Mass effect pro humans/humans first. Racism in this game is actually seen first with the charr vs. human war and with the inquest in their treatment of, well, everything really. Then you have the slyvari hatred/paranoia. It’s not like it doesn’t exist in Tyria just like in real life, but most people(and I’m sure the developers as well) think that co-existing and working together is a much more preferred ideal. Tyria doesn’t appear to have a lack of resources, in addition there’s this whole giant dragons who are hell bent on destroying life thing everyone’s worried about.
What about when this imminent threat to all life is gone?
Totally bringing up something based on a thread that was near on insta-closed.
Begins egg shell avoidance.
Is racism in Tyria the same as it is in reality? I mean it’s not like we are dealing with different colored humans or something.
Like a Human hating on the Charr. (lel)
The Charr are a completely different species after all and we have pretty much killed loads of each other throughout history. What if there was very little resources left due to some cataclysmic event? What do you think would happen then? Not to mention we can’t exactly make babies together.
Unless we wish to breed some kind of abomination. O_o
Considering the history it wouldn’t exactly be unwarranted to hate on each other. When it comes down to it do you really think either species would let their own die for the sake of the other? For every bit of ground they take or resource they consume humanity in turn loses it.
Charr are intelligent beasts. We have hands and they have claws.
I mean it’s not really the same as a Human hating on a Human for their ethnicity is it? What would be wrong with being pro-Human? If the Charr were gone we could further expand and prosper.
There is the obvious reason which would be to avoid bloodshed but forget that for a second. What other reasons do we have not to slaughter the other?
Someone enlighten me or link me some reading.
Of course this could be said about every race vs every other race but yeah…Humans.
This totally sounds like propaganda.
This’ll probably get deleted. >_>
Edit: Just to clarify I’m not trying to incite some kind of conflict here.
Edit2: Why can’t/shouldn’t I be “racist” against the Charr? Why shouldn’t I want to see them all gone so humanity can move further forward?
Edit3: Err I was also trying to point out that the racism in Tyria is not really the same as it is here in reality, on Earth.
Edit4: Sure we are all united by the threat of the Elder Dragons. This is an alliance of self preservation though. When the threat is gone old problems will resurface and it’ll be as it was. Us vs them. The things I mentioned will only be amplified by the lack of a distraction which was the destruction of everyone.
Also. I’m not role playing. I was merely thinking about it.
(edited by Templar.3418)
Yeah the “I have returned to fight at your side” seems really unfitting when you look at the history of the character that is Shiro. Why did they do this?
Not to mention the voice does not match the face. You’d think he would sound…darker?
Welp, not like we can complain now anyway. Doubt they’d redo the voices.
Oh, yeah, almost forgot – DH rulez )
A bare hand for offhand where I can hold out my hand and throw up a mid air sigil that blocks projectiles and magic. Also, this sigil when activated spins and shoots out balls of blue light BUT the blocking of projectiles and magic effect does not last as long as it would had you not activated it. Because uh…our focus has moved to blasting our enemies.
Like some kind of sigil holy power mini gun.
Also you can press your hand into the ground that covers you with a sanctuary. Everytime you activate the skill key there is an effect pulse and you heal yourself, allies AND knockback enemies. When the skill has expired it explodes??
We will also get a defensive stance that changes our 1 handed skills to something different? Or something? Like parries? More defence?
I’ll stop.

After three years of shield being mediocre and having now TWO very good offhand weapons … who cares about shields? Just forget it. Guardians have other much more important and awesome access to cool things. It’s probably by shield gets the shaft … don’t really need it to be good.
But…like…our class symbol is a shield.
Sup.
Will we need to complete the personal story before we get to the HOT story line?
Already done it on my main and I really cbf doing it on my alt.
Thanks.
Yeah the guy in the image looks real.
Noticed him ages ago but now my curiosity has me wondering.
Did you guys take a bunch of photos and throw them together for the load screens?
Where did you take the images exactly?
Some gate guard might not know he is in GW2 lel.
OMG I thought I was the only one who noticed that! The random gate guard in his blue polo shirt was the first thing I noticed when I saw the new loading screen and it’s now all I ever focus on because he just looks so out of place. It looks like there also might be a woman with a long brown ponytail standing a little to the right of him…
I wish we had concept art that actually looked like Lion’s Arch instead of some pictures that look like downtown London with some water colors splotched all over it. (no offense to the art director, of course). But whatever, they’re just loading screens.
Wow.
I only just noticed the girl with the pony tail.
Can’t unsee it.
Yeah the guy in the image looks real.

Incoming matching cash shop costume.
I didn’t notice there were problems really. O_o
I’m a Guardian.
If I use binding blade on 5 targets and draw them into a field then please don’t knock them all over the place.
It’s inconvenient for everyone and annoying as hell.
If things are grouped up they are easier to kill.
Thank you.
Depends how far they are taking that love. O_o
I guess if they bumped up enemy damage and increased the effectiveness of toughness and healing power there would be less zerkers running around. Build more upon the soft holy trinity? Idk.
Toughness and Healing Power are just fine as is proven by many videos on youtube with easy-mode no-dodging runs.
What will happen if they just increased the damage of foes? Would it make a “Healer” viable? No it won’t. Next we know everyone is running Knight or Valkyrie gear instead of Berserker, how much better is that for diversity/variety?
It could make a healer more viable actually.
Example – Toughness mitigates 6000 of a 9000 damage attack. The healer heals what I can’t cover for myself whilst throwing out some condi cleanse and CC. JUST AN EXAMPLE.
I should save my active defence for the high damage strikes I know are coming whilst the healer keeps my hp up through the enemy’s mid damage auto attacks.
Also faster attacking enemies. If they attack so slowly that I can chain active defence before all my abilities are on cool down then we probably won’t ever need healers. O_o
Usually around 2200 toughness on my Guardian with a pretty good dps output and no healing power. Hp around 18k or so.
Seriously my Guard keeps alive easy mode tanking the Annihilator without coming close to death in the Silver Wastes and this is with a zerg trying to take it out. If the enemy attacked faster I’d probably get killed eventually.
That kitten Teragriff from Indigo though. I can mitigate most of the damage it puts out but If I mess up even once with ability timing and the like then I’m already in a shiet place. It attacks quickly and hits rather hard.
It’s in those times when I am fighting an enemy too quick for my active defense abilities or many enemies at once that I am glad there are people around me throwing out heals and condi cleanses. I’d die without them at times.
If they did increase enemy damage and attack speed or w/e then healers would easily become more important.
They should just build more upon the soft holy trinity without going full blown wow style.
Seeing as these enemies are in the SW they are probably going to do these things in HOT anyway.
The crap my Guard goes through would easily wreck a zerker. They need more of this.
Edit: NEED MORE ENEMIES LIKE THOSE LEGENDARIES OR MORE SWARMS OF ENEMIES.
(edited by Templar.3418)
I guess if they bumped up enemy damage and increased the effectiveness of toughness and healing power there would be less zerkers running around. Build more upon the soft holy trinity? Idk.
It’s probably the dumb ai also actually.
But then there would still be an optimal way to build your class and everyone would use that instead. Then people would ask for it to be nerfed or something else buffed cause lel I’m different f meta builds.
Our power as Guardians comes from our faith, conviction and desire to protect others.
Also whatever training we have received.
The revenant needs to steal their power from the ones who came before them who were actually powerful. kitten leeches.
Our power comes from within.
We already one up them.
Nah seriously though f em, we’ll adapt and overcome.
Shiro Tagachi was the best antagonist ever in GW. He even returned in Nightfall. Bringing him back for GW2 is the best thing arenanet can do for GW2.
As a Revenant’s Be!itch
Yes it does make things seem rather dull.
If you want some real fun/action go to an empty Silverwastes map and take and hold a fort by yourself. Now that is generally fun.
You face different kinds of enemies at the same time so you need to make use of the whole skill bar and all you have learnt from your PvE encounters so far.
I do this with my Guardian. It’s a great way to test out PvE builds or just to do for fun.
Not to mention feeling like you’ve accomplished something by beating wave after wave….then die because of something stupid like getting immobalised by Husks whilst being swarmed by Teragriffs with a few Mordrem Healers thrown in the mix. >.>
But hey you can still come out on top in such situations with skill and a little luck.
Or go PvP.

Hello!
Am i the only one who thinks that guns/pistols dont really fit fantasy mmos? Its ok, i dont mind them that much, but it annoys me till that point, that there is no way i could use them, even tho they are op…
Because fantasy worlds, magic, monsters, swords, bows etc… And then there are the guns…
Anyone else?:DRegards.
Don’t worry, I feel the same way.
It makes me feel stupid for using a bow or melee weapon honestly. But w/e.
This is the creators fantasy world right?
We don’t kill it.
We fight as best as we can throwing everything we have but it’s futile. We have our backs to the wall with Mordremoth about to eat us then along comes Primordious to consume the jungle dragon. Setting alight Mordremoths vines and everything else plant related whilst holding the dragon in place with the earth and it’s giant claw around the enemy’s neck.
No idea what the extend of the dragons abilities are. O_o
Inadvertently saving us of course. This kitten is just hungry for magic or something.
Us seeing these two dragons battling just try and get the heck out of there asap as there is no way we can fight two.
Primordus annihilates Mordremoth proving he is the superior dragon and threat to Tyria.
Then all hope is gone that we will ever win against the dragons as we threw everything we had at Mordremoth, we were defeated and then Primodus came along and raeped Mordy.
Then through some revelation somewhere down the line we find out the gods have had their powers drained by the dragons the whole time as they are FULL of magic! Great food source brah! This is why they are seemingly gone from Tyria.
They come to us, the gods, and close to being destroyed by the siphoning of magic by the dragons, they give the rest of their minuscule amount of power remaining to the races of Tyria to power us up a bit so we can better fight the remaining dragons and their minions. (New abilities yay!)
The gods die then and there, a sacrifice to destroy their enemies. The dragons.
But a sacrifice that brings hope to the world.
Okay I’ll stop…Getting carried away.
(edited by Templar.3418)
Bruh, they need a character as bad asz as Shiro in this game.
Shiro would probably wipe the floor with every member of the GW2 character cast.
The look in his eyes is one of Focus, conviction and strength.
I can tell just by looking at him that everyone else is his kitten.
Edit: Actually is it just me or are the character designs from GW1 far superior to the ones we have in GW2? O_o
(edited by Templar.3418)
Isn’t it just an awesome ability though?
Sending flying spirit blades at enemies impaling them, sometimes killing them.
Eh. Anything that has a cash shop usually has a load of Bullkitten that goes with it.
I hate cash shops. Feels like I’m being inconvenienced by design. Especially with F2P games.
Not to mention the gems for gold system. They pretty much became gold sellers with a shiny UI. I’d be okay with this if gold were easier to make and we could exchange it for more gems but for some reason they seem to nerf the ways people can make gold in game.
slighty suss yo.
Intention or no not it still looks shady as hell.
I’d rather a sub really.
Would a sub stop a game from having players buying gold from other players using an ingame cash shop method? The World of Warcraft says, No. They now have a way for players to buy gold from another player with real money. Instead of buying gems from the company, they buy a token from the company and sell that.
A Golden Opportunity
“Time is money, friend—but sometimes one is harder to come by than the other. Now World of Warcraft players can exchange gold and game time using an item called the WoW Token. Read on to find out more!”(By the way, WoW just nerfed gold making in game for level 80s by randomizing which garrison missions go to which alt. Now the most gold making missions can go to an alt not fully set up for them)
They should focus on fighting the gold sellers, not become gold sellers. O_o
There are websites that still sell GW2 gold for less than what Anet is offering. Not to mention other in game items.
They’ve not helped the problem, they have become apart of it imo.
