Maybe you don’t, but I do, and let me say, you are missing out on a lot. You don’t even need a lot, just 2 or so trinkets with healing power and boom couple that with signet of malice and some regen and you are now extremely tanky.

They said that they would reset the points at the start of every season. Though we only know season 2 will start in 2014, month and time frame is unknown.

They actually never said this. They specifically made sure to word their spots so that they ONLY said that they would guarantee a reset at the start of season 1. They could do one at the start of season 2 but they NEVER said this.

I feel that with account wide you should never really have to reallocate points because you can earn so many very easily. However, sometimes people also misclick or just make a decision they regret so there should be some reallocation. I feel like 2 lifetime reallocations per character is quite generous and very reasonable.

Currently all we have is a lousy little corner of LA where there is an elevated area and a few portals. I feel like SO much more could be added. Firstly move the WvW entrance area outside of LA with the current portal area in LA being replaced by a portal area which would teleport you to the new area.

I suggest the new area be an island in the Sea of Sorrows or something. It should really embellish this whole sense of World vs World. With a grandiose structure as well as the WvW exclusive npcs you see in WvW. By this I mean the laurel vendor who sells the WvW gear/xp so that if you want to shop for WvW stuff you don’t have to potentially afk at spawn taking up queue space.

One of the things I don’t like is how once a side has gotten their keep fully fortified/waypointed they can just start ignoring yaks while other upgrading keeps REALLY need yaks giving a large advantage to servers who can field one really strong timezone and then just keep all their things afterwards because it’s a massive uphill battle for the servers with less population.

To fix this make it so that when a keep is not being upgraded it’s supply starts to drain if a yak has not been escorted to it in X amount of time. This way when a server’s strong timezone comes in they have a chance at taking back some of the keeps/maybe even towers.

I think the best way to stop population imbalance is to reward smaller servers for ganging up on larger servers. Give diminishing returns to PPT for servers who are in the lead in terms of total points and/or PPT while giving bonus PPT to servers who take objectives from the leading server. This would encourage 2v1 on larger servers which would help ease out the population imbalance.

Also add more “tactical” locations for smaller groups to outmaneuver larger groups. The terrain for most of the maps is relatively flat; make more choke points, make underground tunnels such as the one by Blue Keep in EB, and make more uneven terrain with sloping hills that can’t be climbed from certain angles so that smaller groups can take a tactical advantage on larger groups.

Please make it so that if I queue up and get in, i can select an option to reserve me a spot for 2 minutes like if I were to join the map and DC so that I can swap characters and I don’t have to sit in queue on one character to do WvW if I want to do PvE with another one.

It would be nice if when you say you don’t like crafting you say what you don’t like about it. Crafting of some sort (mystic forge or regular crafting) would be much better because it’s something you can actually work towards.

“Work.” That’s what crafting is. Work. GW2 crafting, like crafting in most MMOs, is not fun in the slightest. It’s a horribly boring time and money sink. I would rather the ascended gear come from content I find enjoyable, even if it is random. Of course, I would prefer a much larger chance for it to drop, but such is the nature of Grind Wars 2.

This wouldn’t be any extra work. It would just be natural progression by playing WvW. Capture a camp? Here have something that will help make some weapon or something.

…it’s entertaining to work towards and create a legendary or a fully decked out character. The process of making those things is the fun part…

Assuming you actively played three characters like myself, would your sentiments be the same if you needed 9-12+ weapons to outfit them?

No, I felt like it wasn’t worth it because I was slowly working towards something making a goal and then suddenly boom i’m done. Your progression is done good job pat yourself on the back you now have a small stat bonus because you got lucky. It adds no depth to the game with the current RNG system and gives no feeling of working hard to achieve a goal.

It would be the same. I’m not saying “let’s add a new tier of specific WvW only weapons and stuff” i’m saying give us an option to acquire ascended and exotic gear through a WvW specific method. It would simply give players a way to be show off their WvW progression and personalize themselves with specific skins as well as provide a means of progression rather than roll the dice each level to see if you will either get something special or nothing.

I think Devon missed the mark here a bit on the whole purpose of increasing WvW rewards. I mean it’s great that you now have a better chance to make money and be reward for playing WvW but the way it’s set up now with the RNG boxes randomly giving you profit is kind of missing the point.

It’s not entertaining to have a legendary or to have fully decked out character, it’s entertaining to work towards and create a legendary or a fully decked out character. The process of making those things is the fun part.

I currently have been making my way towards making ascended weapons (very slowly but that’s because i don’t find it a priority) but last night I opened a rank up chest and low and behold it was an ascended weapon chest with the stats that I wanted. (very lucky). However, that totally ruined the fun for me. It’s like getting a cheat code where it just gives you the best thing in the game it’s not that much fun.

Instead of these random boxes giving you random loot it should give you a constant(ish) amount of some set of material specific to WvW that you use to progress i.e. WvW specific crafting mats (used in current crafting or Mystic Forge or something else)that you use to make weapons. This would introduce the whole character progression fun that Devon has been trying to turn ranks into and get rid of that whole complete RNG reward system we currently have. However, some RNG is always fun to have to spruce things up.

I feel like simplifying giving people 1-3 bonus rank chests is just so unimaginative and bland. Instead, replace them with a chest containing a guaranteed green+ and a new currency called “victory tokens” These tokens could be used to buy things such as new WvW exclusive skins, or ascended item components/backpieces.

If you all are QQ about being outnumbered then you all are barking up the wrong tree. When I was on TC and we would get SoR, BG, or JQ, we loved it, we knew we were outnumbered, but we liked the fights, cause we always won, they might have won the ppt match, but we always won in open field, we would go up against 50-60 with just 30+ but we were organized, we used mumble, had good commanders, everyone was in chat and listened, even militia was in mumble and we all followed the tag, and we would always go for the open field fights, everytime, and we won almost everytime, so don’t sit here and cry about being outnumbered, numbers have absolutely nothing to do with it, a lot of people like to be the underdog, cause they know they can kick the bigger dogs kitten , even if they don’t win the over all fight.

It’s not fun being on FA, doing okay/winning NA timezone then coming on to see that during the night they capped EVERYTHING and had 600+ ppt. Also, TC has quite a few more players than FA and you don’t feel the pain as much. FA is fun on reset/weekend when the numbers are still strong because we win a lot but during the week its all boring

There is nothing about skill here. It’s facing a server with A LOT more people than you 7 weeks in a row that is very very dull.

Let’s just ignore the SBI match up because it’s about the same and they are on the rise from an influx of players anyways. However, I find it really stupid how big of a difference there is between the top 3 servers and the next 2 and then the next one after that. As an FA player I AM NOT looking forward to 7 weeks in a row of a guaranteed loss because our server has no population compared to the top 3. Either change it back to two leagues, or put the top 3 servers into their own league, otherwise it’s just going to be stupid for the T2 servers all 7 weeks in a row.

-unlike the precedent set with kite fortunes and gauntlet tickets, players dont drop aether key pieces.

-the new dailies are more far more time consuming than other dailies:
**capping 5 ruins takes like 15 minutes and you cant exactly work on other dailies at the same time… or in fact, do much of anything. resource nodes dont spawn on the cap points, cant work on gathering. only 1 cap point can get you daily kills, and there are only like 5 creature types in the area. the most comparable dailies are sentries and caravans — killing a caravan takes a fraction of the time and they usually come in pairs, and killing a sentry will also count for vets, kills, and caps 3x as fast as a point.

**2 wvw ranks is about twice as much work as any other older daily. its specifically comparable to leveler, which only needs 1 level. unless you wanna buy it, for 2-4 laurels… then its as trivial as 3 skill points.

-the ability to buy wvw ranks could have been so much more interesting. players are bitter about the laurel cost. spending badges is a correct step imo, but laurels? not so much.

for a patch that didnt really touch wvw, it sure couldve done less harm.

They do actually drop key pieces, i have gotten quite a few.
Dailies take such negligible time both in and out of WvW.
I fail to see how them giving us more ways to get rewards is hurting WvW. Sure maybe the laurels aren’t really cost effective, but as a dedicated WvW player I will keep buying them since i have nothing better to do with my laurels.

small ideas, BIG IMPACT

Here are some ideas that should take very little developer’s time but could have big impact to WvW.

  • /o outmanned map chat. If two servers are both outmanned by one server, they can use this “temporary” map chat channel to coordinate a 2v1.
  • Remove Orb effects in EB JP. This should allow GvG folks to go there.
  • Make the JP into a giant death match where the center chest is a capture point.
  • Revert EB JP change so that they share the same map again. The JPs right now (BL’s included) are mostly a ghost town (might conflict with #2).
  • Yellow message in PvE when your home borderline garrison has orange sword. Similar to how we get PvE announcements in WvW, we should get WvW messages in PvE too.
  • You can only enter WvW if you own at least one level 30 character (not necessarily the one you use to enter WvW). This should solve the problem of spies with 2 accounts and keep transferring to a different server on each matchup.

Feel free to post yours. The only requirement is that it should take very little work on ANet’s part to do so it doesn’t distract them from their current roadmap.

1. No, too much trolling/crap talking/revealing of plans/etc.

2. No, GvG should get it’s own mode not just slapped into “go to eb if you want it.” I personally hate the buffs and think they should be removed from ALL the maps but if they are going to stay i would rather have them on ALL then on just some

4. No, it’s a JP if you want people fighting over capture points go to the ruins or SPvP

4. No, JP = PvE with some PvP mixed in, it’s really frustrating to be losing on a match because of the PvE players. If you want small group fights go find them elsewhere like in the new ruins

5. No, servers should be rewarded for having superior communication

6. No, it wouldn’t solve the problem, just make it harder for spies but also remove the potential for a low level person new to the game to try out WvW

Honestly these ideas had their hearts in the right place but are just too flawed.

I liked the Sanctum one the best. Was a really cool place fun to explore, the racing game was also fun. My favorite part of it though was the mini game that was released later the Sanctum Fighters one.

This wouldn’t fix population issues. Sure there would be no issues for the people who spend gems to get put into the league assuming the leagues fill up. However, this could potentially leave a massive population gap in the non-paid matchups. Say on NA all of t1-4 got in and no one from t5-down did except for SoR which sent no one into leagues. Now this is an extreme example but think of the leftover population disparity.

All the people who didn’t want to pay to get in would complain and still be upset

its an extreme example. in reality it would balance things better.

less servers and a lot of T1 would join the league reducing the huge gap between T1 and everyone else.

My point though is that there will be that one core group on the higher tier server (or more than one) who deems it a stupid idea and stays, keeping a massive population on that server compared to the other ones.

Because players are lazy, I said it in a different thread, if you make an alt it does not start at 80? Just because you put time into 1 character does not mean all characters should reap the benefits, new character, new progression. Should a fresh 80 come out rocking Guarded leech or Applied fortitude because you spent time on another character ? The answer is no.

I really do blame WoW for the ever growing laziness of players as it seems this is when MMO’s went laughable ez mode. Does anyone remember when you actually had to work at your character, its what gave players a sense of accomplishment for thier time invested.

Because working for account progression instead of character progression gives absolutely no sense of accomplishment and is totally “ez mode” Heck, why stop there, why don’t we just make everything give you 1WXP that way you REALLY feel like you invested your time well into your character when you hit rank 1 3 years later.

Also as I noted in another thread, I really am not into ranks because of the abilities, I like it more because I get the kitten of seeing your rank increase and getting new titles. With the current system I feel such a lack of purpose when playing on alts because im currently rank 200 and when I get to rank 5 on an alt I get this sense that i haven’t actually gone anywhere.

So, Devon is taking WvW ranks in a way where he is trying to make it more “alt friendly” with the new added liquid WXP which I think is great but honestly it doesn’t address what I don’t like about this rank system. For me I don’t like WXP ranks because if I get say another 50 I can get this cool new perk, instead I like seeing oh hey look i’m rank 150, i’m a Bronze Invader so making WXP alt friendly this way just really doesn’t encourage me to play my alts because I don’t feel that sense of accomplishment from getting to rank 10 now.

What I would like to see is an overarching rank that goes with your title for the kitten while still having character bound rank points. i.e. I have a necro rank 50, and a thief rank 305. My rank would be 355 but my thief would only be able to allocate 305 points and my necro 50.

I have read some of this but not all of it so don’t know if this was proposed.
But what about having it so no one server can have more then 5 people more then the next server on the map. Example if the lower server has 100 people then the other 2 servers can only have up to 105people until the lower server gets more people on it.

Yes it would cause uproar for high WvW pop servers if they face a Low pop server, but the guilds and people from high pop servers would actually start to spread out across all worlds, the low pop servers would actually have people on them for wvw and pve and after awhile most WvW servers would have about equal numbers, Just my idea.

You can’t do this or else people would start yelling at the players who they deem to not be effective enough to leave the map so the other server loses players. Would just create bad blood.

FA recently recruited 2 big guilds, RISE and Meow. FA is not T1.
They also said silver league place 2 would be better than say gold league place 5 so I don’t see why you should complain.

Oh your right… sorry. FA gets transfers… and what rank are they?? Rank 5… so your right… being rank 14 I shouldnt complain that a rank 5 is getting transfers and a rank 14 is losing guilds and numbers TOO the Rank five. My bad…

Tier 1 and Tier 2 servers are so oblivious to what everyone else is dealing with it is simply amazing.

[SIC] Recently transferred from FA to IoJ. Sure there are some bandwagoners who go to T1 but there are lots of players moving around to the lower servers. That’s what kaineng was all about until it imploded.

These transferring guilds are a problem and the reason why anything anet adds to wvw won’t work ….they are the cause of lag, unbalanced matches, and long ques. sorry if that doesn’t sound nice, but it’s true.

Wasn’t the whole purpose of your thread to get ANet to make top tier servers transfer away? And now you say transfering is bad?

that’s not fair either – they don’t like fighting the same bloated servers over and over – There are a few groups of people that don’t need a ton of zergs to win – they are the ones that constantly bring all these servers to number one …and thats honorable – whats NOT honorable is when everyone flocks to say they are a part of them and turn those guys strategy into this massive ball of meat.

We have some pretty mean pvp strategists in the mid tiers that would have fun fights vs these guys – we will never see those fights if they are covered in fat. It’s not justice to them, and its not justice to pvp’rs who would rather face the odds than join a bloated server to play hard.

easy, you should not be able to pay to win. an overpopulated server is an easy win, transferring to an overpopulated server should have zero advantage.

I don’t know why you are so convinced that all the top tier servers just win because of sheer numbers. Sure they are ranked higher on a rating scale that is used to determine who they fight which is really all about making sure large servers dont completely obliterate small. I mean all the high population servers can’t win if they fight eachother. There is nothing gained by being rank 1 or 7 or 20 for that matter. Sure when Leagues come out there will be, but Devon said that gold rank 4 would get worse rewards than say silver rank 2.

That’s a pretty out-there statement. What evidence do you have of this? I personally am on FA which has one of if not the best NA crew and all the guilds are like family here. Most of the guilds that don’t get along transfer out.

explain all the reasons you want …..transferring to an overpopulated server for non stop coverage is paying to win – there is no justification for ruining the game because you want to stack up on a server. – wvw needs to be capped so you can’t pay to win in wvw.

You aren’t paying to win because you aren’t winning anything. Transfering to a T1 or any high Tiered server just means you are paying to be on a server with more organized people. You aren’t guaranteed to win anything because you are facing other servers with similar sizes and levels of organization.

And no, stealthed units can’t cap points, just like units in mist form they don’t count towards contesting the point.

population wise right now is horrible – I’m in a really good low mid rank server … been playing it since beta – we have some great pvprs …who pretty much pug together regularly and never let odds overwhelm us ….heck even now being severely outnumbered – we have 2 bloodlust thingies …… and it’s a ghost town. I’ve NEVER seen it so empty before today. so I can only imagine you are in an upper tier server to say this, because from my view …it’s very unreasonable to say the balance is fine …extremely unreasonable in fact.

Whatever size server you are on you will always being playing with similar sized servers which makes me think that if you are experiencing one day of a low server pop then either A) your server is burned out after the end of the week like most servers are thursday-friday(before reset) or B ) your server just lost a lot of transfers. I’m thinking A though

Hmm I just looked through the thread and noticed you said you play on Borlis Pass so I checked out your match up. What you are probably experiencing is the large influx of players SBI recently got.

30 is too low though ….. it should be enough to have a ‘small’ reasonable sized zerg – because that’s how wars were really fought – and enough extra men to cover your other maps … but they really should allow private wvw gvg fights to allow casual players to play with casual players and hard core players to play for rank in organized wvw – this way the top tier servers aren’t destroyed either ….they are after all like minded players – so they should be allowed to be competitive – but not at the casual players expense

The number isn’t fixed. Basically the server with the lowest number in the match up always sets the amount of players base. If the lowest server has 100 players, then the new limit is 100. So if more players shows up the limit will also increase. So the idea encourages players to spread out to other servers if they want to have a higher number of players playing. This is similar to how Spvp balance the number of players in each team.

This wouldn’t work because you are punishing players for being on a server with more players. You are using negative feedback to make players swap and I can tell you that players will not be happy having to pay 2k gems to transfer from their home server away from (or with) their guild and guild network just because their server has more WvW players. You want to make lower servers more attractive not by making higher servers less attractive.

Honestly if you spread out the servers so that every server has the same amount of people and has strengths in all time zones that would just make the game mode too bland. Sure there are some servers who do stuff differently (TC sits behind arrow carted towers and keeps all day, while FA plays more like an EU server who spend most of the time roaming around looking for fights) which does add some diversity, true “balance” is bland and boring.

I believe that there should be more tools for smaller groups to outplay larger groups, but population wise I think WvW is quite well done.

Let me clarify here. If a point is grey on your map that does not mean that no server owns it. What that means is, it is either neutral due to a server capping it or because the owning server has not been there in a while. When a point decays all the way the server still holds that point but it turns grey on your map. If a player from an opposing server were to be on that point for just a moment then it would turn neutral.

This means that 2 or more of the points decayed all the way to turning grey on your map but no one from an opposing server walked on them to neutralize them.

I find your post rather ODD, seeing as I am on FA which has a MUCH higher population than your match up we haven’t really seen zergs controlling the bloodlust. Often times there is only about 10 people from one server rolling around the bloodlust while the main forces ignore it and just go for PPT. The other servers don’t really seem to care too much about it either to send more than 15 people ever.

It’s funny because earlier today I had a post removed for being exactly what this topic was. I made a complaint about how Mods seem to shove several similar yet very different threads together which makes it VERY hard to find what you are looking for. They treat these merged threads like they should be a new subforum where ALL discussion about some very broad topic should all be thrown together. My post wasn’t the most eloquently written but it wasn’t a complete “I HATE THIS” without constructively posting what I didn’t like about it.

Well how about this then, since it is VERY easy to flip them why don’t you make it so that when you are near one kills grant Extra WXP. Maybe like a 30% bonus or something like that. Especially because if you are adding wxp to loot bags you are just increasing WXP gain across the board which means that yes it will be more beneficial when doing bloodlust but in proportion to everything else it will stay the same (or be smaller because you don’t see large fights at bloodlust)

Why don’t we get WXP for capping/defending these.

It’s far too easy to flip them just to farm WXP. One thing that is coming soon is an addition of WXP consumables to the player loot bags, which should make a pretty big addition to the amount of WXP you get from being in the area, assuming you are killing players. As to adding it to the general capping of the points, we’ll have to consider that pretty carefully before we make any changes.

Why not do something for your server once in a while instead of your XP bar?

I shouldn’t have to choose between helping myself and helping the server. It should be the same thing.
