The first tier of howl’s precursor hunt has you killing a lot of ambient creatures and the last 1 i need is a wild bull. the problem is that the wiki doesnt list an wild bull or even a bull ambient creature. i’ve tried killing the bulls in queensdale but they dont count towards the collection.

anyone had the same problem or knows where the bull is ?

Tempest elite skill very underwhelming.

Eles are “hugely viable” in wvw without meteornado cheese. I’d be perfectly happy if they simply made tornado useful on its own.

it allows counterplay by being very easy to spot and isnt even garanteed to hit everyone(thus making it not cheese), removing meteornado just dumbs down the game because you no longer have to see what you are standing in. They can remove meteornado when they give us an elite which is usable and dont just let us run fgs to oneshot thief which try to attack us

Well FGS 4 dmg will be buffed to match killshot and evis so atleast no more problems with thiefs but still meteornado so much better

To be fair anet have been steadily buffing the worst skills, eventually they might be good.

they need to buff them so strong that the numbers are op on it like icebow, because the concept of them is so flawed that its not worth taking unless its somehow incredible numbers on it. glyph of storms wont see play until the cooldown is 30secs or lower and the dmg on the fire and air one are about the same as meteors or icebow 4.

why can't we have nice things :(.

Absolutely, it’s the most versatile profession that excels in all areas of this game. It shines way more than any other profession. Along with experienced skillful players it makes this profession very op.

which makes it a pain to balance and i dont know why they try to “balance” it even more when it was in a fine state for a moment. FGS is okay but it should have been buffed along with the nerf since skill 5 and skill 2 are awful. Tornado was really uncalled for and just removes the chance of it seeing any play in a competetiv enviroment.

Ele had 3 good utility/elites outside of cantrips… Fgs, Ice bow and meteornado. If they wanted to improve diversity why would they nerf these forcing ele even more into cantrips…

Calm down, staff ele did lose the ability to see huge numbers, but a 10k meteor shower is OP anyways and they fixed it. On the plus side you got the best skills that work with the new blinding ashes which looks incredibly strong.

why would anyone take blinding ashes its still utter trash and has no reason to be even master tier, when do we apply burning on staff, only with skill 3 and skill 4, what do we sacrifice ? a second armor of earth, an heal on water attune,reduced cooldowns in water and 2seconds stability on earth attune. so we throw away a ton of survivability to get a little buff for 2 skills, so worth the 3g to buy that

Ele is the only class with an elite now that has a huge heal attached (looks like its 15-20s CD) that can now be CONTROLLED. That means you will get the heal at least 2, maybe 3 times during the life of the elemental. On-demand stun from air can replace a stun-break if it works while you are cc’d. Fire burst can now be set-up and timed with your cc’s/immobs.

THIS change to the ele glyph is really absolutely AMAZING. I don’t think you guys are appreciating it enough just how much this increases the power of the skill.

yes sadly the elemental will die the second it spawns because it has like 10k hp, no armor and is melee. We dont need more heal because we already have ether renewel and several healing skills on weapons and traits but they might nerf these to make us dependend on pets

in wvw try living without atleast 4 into water 6 into arcane and 2 into earth, its not that we dont want to go into different lines its just that all of them suck so hard that its not worth taking them the fire grandmaster still isnt justified as an adept trait. warriors dont need special traits to work, we do. also the elemental pet thing isnt viable because it gets killed in 1sec because it goes melee.

Anet needs to realise that Tornado isnt Lich or Plague because those actually work and could take a nerf(Lich in PvP is just a dumb). After the patch we eles will slot racial elites and will have taken a huge nerf on our spike dmg. Sorry but your “buffs” dont help because you only change numbers on skills whose concept is already flawed and useless.

Has anyone here even played ele in wvw before ? Because you would have realised that Tornado is the only viable one in zerg fights. Its only used to buff the damage of Meteor Shower since it grants you like 2x the power and 50% crit chance. Ele doesnt need buffs since its by far the strongest class from a survival standpoint, we just need options because it gets a bit boring with only 1 viable spec for wvw and also no rune which fits nice except maybe scholar or rage

Just go with the Meta, you arent helping if you kill ppl when the fight is already won. Hammer/Sword and Horn with 2/0/6/6/0 or 0/0/6/6/2 then put on some knights and zerkers

I’d like to point out that being good at GvG does not necessarily translate to being good at WvW. Some of the elements you need to take into account in WvW but have nothing whatsoever to do with GvG include, but are not limited to:

- how to best exploit numerical superiority
- how to best cope with numerical inferiority
- how to best employ your forces of varying quality
- how to best exploit terrain
- how to take an enemy by surprise / how to react to being surprised
- how to attack a position
- how to defend a position
- how to gather intelligence
- best use of siege weapons
- management of force distribution on the map
- supply management
- choice of attack direction for better map control

Or at least, these would all be a factor… if WvW didn’t mostly devolve in “whoever brings the biggest zerg wins”.

Personally I prefer WvW to GvG due to its much larger potential for tactical and strategical variations. It’s quite unlucky we almost never get to see that potential realized.

I guess most of the GvG guilds also do Raids in WvW so they probably mastered the above listed things because its simply not easy to have a GvG everyday and you somehow have to entertain your members

Like someone said before, the PPT doesnt matter because there is no reward so ppl dont go out of their way to do non-fun stuff like sieging stuff up and defending. Many have realised this and are now only playing for fights and i dont see the problem there because everyone probably enjoys these. Why is it important for ppl to blob because i cant see fun in having queues on all maps and then fight with 3 70man blobs in eb, there is just no skill left in those fights. its much more enjoyable with low numbers when it actually matters what you do

People who play WvW have massive amounts of empyreal fragments. Dragonite, not so much.

well the keep lord loots about 25 dragonite and well if you flip some keeps you soon have far too much

Everyone is still fine in spvp except ele they are a bit weaker than the others. in wvw the ranger is far weaker than all the others and in dungeon i think everyone is still ok because the content is easy

Tips nerf stability:
Duration Minimum / maximum 3 seconds accordingly… every AoE CC with a limit of 5 targets, stability takeable from combo-land and more access to this bonus for all professions. Picturing the game with these changes, I find that best both in PvE, spvp and WVW.

Guard, warrior, mesmer, ele, etc, all have access to long duration stability.

Really!? The class with the LOWEST health and Armor and HIGHEST cool downs of defensive skills and you think they have too much?

Armor of Earth – 6 second Duration. 90 second cool down.
Rock Solid – 20 point trait. 2 second duration. 10-13second cool down.
Earth’s Embrace – 10 point trait. 6 second duration. 90 second cool down

Yeah, you are right. For the class with some of the worst defensive skills, that is just to much access and look at those cool downs only 90seconds! what a disgrace.

also mistform is a bit similar to stability
boonduration is quite strong on ele so the 6s from earth armor become 9s if you spec for it

its perfectly fine right now because boonstripping works and cc is strong but stability counters it so you either come up with boonstripping or use immobilise or chills without stability we would die so hard to cc and if you nerf boonduration we would lose a thing we would have to spec for and that should not happen also in the current state its ok because if you get cced in a zerg you are probably dead right away so without stability it would be boring gameplay where the first wins and not the creative and skilled

How to fight thieves: chain CC. Considering the lack of stub breakers thieves have, it doesn’t take a scientist to figure it out

Channeled skills work just as well if not better. Ever ran a rifle warrior or snipe ranger in a group comp when a pesky troll thief decides to stall your group? A Killshot will take care of him no problem.

I hate killshot. Hit my ele for 16k damage the other day. 1hko

1. run staff
2. go to earth and use magnetic aura
3. laugh

Maybe you should explain to me why the guardian is the best bunker with lowest base hp

Block skill chaining and easy access to protection. To do so however they have to give up on really doing any significant damage.

you are saying that guardian can have block chain and protection(and blind chain) but can do no damage?

i wonder what is a meditation guardian.

he is saying if you want to go bunker you wont do dmg at the same time, its the same with the ele they have insane bunkerpotential but sacrifice all their dmg for it, while warriors ar tanky enough with full zerker. the lowest hp classes should have powerful dmgmitigation mechanics like the thief has stealth and guardian has blocks and protection. ele is left there with no armor and only earth traits to protect them and cantrips(which sacrifice utility slots while thiefs have a wide access to their mechanic) they basically have to tank the hits you throw at them or run away

Warriors are sacrificing by using 2 weapon sets that can’t kill on their own. Elementalists only decent elite is Fiery Greatsword so everyone uses it anyways and its far better than Warrior greatsword mobility wise. Thieves get comparable mobility by using either main hand dagger or using a short bow.

if it comes to running we are talking about wvw where the tornado is the king of ele elites

Yeah, I had to go back and read the trait, that’s why I added the edit. I missed that about the damage… my bad. I definitely won’t be using any of these new GM traits.

Guildie of mine is about to shelve her ranger that she’s been playing since launch and she WVWs. She is not happy with these new GM traits. As soon as her Guard is geared up she’ll be using that one 100% of the time.

well as a ranger in wvw you have a hard time anyway because they are useless and cant support there. Most ppl in wvw hate the rangers

Seriously a trait in a build that can give your allies potentially 25 stacks of might permanently and you are complaining?!

The thing is that you have to invest 30 points into our most awful trait line in order to get it and you get no personal benefit out of it. Although I could see it work well with empower allies if your party does not have a Guardian or Ele.

Yeah tactics is awful ofcourse its like the traitline with the best traits for wvw. Imagine in wvw when you have a your groups setup with guardian + warrior +3 others and guardian uses empower to buff 12stacks might and the warrior shares those 12stacks back and everyone except warrior now has 24 and then imagine the other guys buffing might in combat and stuff you can have like atleast 10stacks all the time

No because there is an endurance reg cap at 100% bonus, so vigor is max, the trait is utterly worthless for a grandmaster because there is a 5points trait in the line above which gives about permavigor (on crit apply 6s vigor 5s cooldown(scaling with boonduration))

Rangers are strong when the size of the group they are with or fighting, is 3 or less. The more people that are added after that, the ranger should be replaced with another class that does what you want from the ranger, better.

Also, all good rangers could instantly tell you what build the person was running after a few seconds of fighting. Rangers only have 2 builds that work well and 30 points are always in the same trait line.

Your first part makes no sense. The ranger is equally as strong in every scenario. That will never change. Another perfect example is the backstab thief. They are always the same strength. The only issue is how they use that strength in zerg fighting.

You will see backstab thieves on the outskirts taking down squishies. Rangers can do their own version of that or just sit and tag as many enemies as possible for loot bags. Either way, their strength does not ever change. I’ve not seen any ranger doing anything but go straight for loot bag acquisition.

wrong a ranger does get weaker if there are more ppl around him, in a 3v3 the rangers pet suffers aoe from 3 persons and has a slight chance of survival so he does 100% dmg because pet is alive and does its part(a bit), in 5v5 to 10v10 the pet will die fast so the ranger does only his part so 70% dmg. Pet and Spirits die fast to any aoe so ranger is pointless in zergs or GvG. Although the ranger has no good way of removing conditions except by putting them on the pet which hurts their dps. Half of their utility´s are useless like shouts, some traps and lightning reflexes the other half is no good unless traited for. Ranged weapons do less damage then ranged weapons on most other classes, this profession is called the ranger so it should do more ranged dmg than a warrior. Most of the Traits are bad and tied to the pet, you can´t use half of the builds because you have to go 30 into ws and 30 into the traitline for the build with 10 left. No good source of stability for condi builds because only stability is on Rampage as One.

The Player the OP saw must be really skilled, because the facts are against the class being good

Everyone says that the only argue meant thieves have is you need to “L2P”. I will tell you right now, that is an argument, but not the best. Stealth will heal you 234 per second. This healing is less than the regen Condi, or regen dps warrior. Or the guardian. Or the bunker ranger. It isn’t what heals you. The healing skill withdraw is what makes them “burst” heal in stealth. Playing a thief is not easy. It is the average skill level of thieves being higher than any other class.
This is my argument. Thieves need stealth to compensate for the lowest base health and toughness in the game and to make their high damage possible. The stealth mechanic is fundamentally flawed, admit ably, but it is more in favor of the enemy, not the thief. You get some minor healing, but it does not serve as an invulnerability, infact, thief has no invulnerability at all. They get the chance to confuse the enemy for a short amount of time every 3 seconds. Maybe, they can pop off their heal, or prolong stealth, but ultimately movement in stealth is predictable. They will try to get as close as possible and hit you from behind. Timing and proper dodging can immensely reduce a thieves dps. A missed backstab is very bad for a thief. I time 2 seconds, then dodge and run. This usually expires their stealth. Granted I’m a thief so I can always time a Backstab (really confuses other thieves when I CnD off of them while they are in stealth). It is kind of l2p but more of a staying calm problem. People freak out when they lose their target. That is what kills you. When you lose half your health, don’t freak, they will most likely waste a ton of ini on heart seeker which is a fundamentally flawed tactic and they are very easy to kill in this state.
If it is a Condi thief… I just have to say REALLY?!?! You don’t complain this much about Condi warriors, or Condi necros, or Condi rangers. They are all basically as effective, some more, with more applicable condis, and more health regen/Condi clears. It is a problem with you being confused by shadow step and stealth, things that barely change anything. YIU get panicked because you lose sight of your target, that is irrational. It is a matter of remaining calm, not l2p.

Is leveling really that hard?

I have 13 tomes of knowledge sitting in my bank because I tend to save them for the last few levels on the way to 80 because its annoying to gear for level 75 when you could get on with the business of gearing permanently for level 80, but on the whole level just seems pretty simple (I have nine 80s on my account).

I’m not against it, I’m just surprised by the enthusiasm for it.

It´s because there are many WvW only Players like my Guild Leader and they just dont ever go to pve so they sit on 1 Character and 2k AP after a year. We need better overall rewards for WvW because we get badges and they just go up and up and up without decreasing and also give us more WvW exclusive skins(which are actually good and not so easy to get).

Anything is better than the stuff we have right now so give us new rewards for WvW
