I say “dark day” because if you weren’t running the elite you weren’t going to get into any PUG groups for end game content. While we may have a difference of opinion as to its impact on the game anytime a single skill or build completely replaces all the others in a game its definitely not a positive thing.
I think you’re being a drama queen. I played Guild Wars for seven years, I ran a guild that did balanced DoA HM and DoASC almost exclusively. Ursan was an easy way to clear end game content, if you bothered to look for groups clearing it the normal way you would have found plenty. They would have probably wiped though ;D
-EDIT- Getting off topic here, what you’re doing is really cool, glad to see people helping out those who want to learn
(edited by They.9516)
I’m curious, what were the Ursan build days? I didn’t play gw1.
It was an elite skill linked to a reputation/title that changed your skill set and increased your max hp/armor. Basically made everyone super tanky OP damage dealers, honestly it wasn’t a “dark day”, it made really hard content available to casual players and it wasn’t faster than organized spike teams. Some people just like to exaggerate.
Just going to post this before a poo storm ensues. Holding other people to YOUR standards is unrealistic and is only going to end in disappointment.
Rare has the wvw skin, anything else is a “generic” skin such as duelists.
Exotic has the wvw skin, anything else is a “generic” skin such as duelists.
Currently it’s impossible for NA players and EU players to party up in instances together. Any plans on when this is going to get fixed? My guild has a very diverse player base and it’s frustrating when we have to wait on server transfers. Perhaps flag accounts so they can’t wvw for a week after transfer?
You can solo that fractal. ^ ^
ITT: People who don’t realize MF BARRREEELY hinders your performance stat-wise.
I saw several of them that looked amazing as icons but was dissapointed to see they don’t show up on your character, are there any plans to add models?
Still bugged, only thing left for my legendary is shards….
North Pact group is stuck in a wall, tried pulling a mob to get them to move but they just ran back into it. Pathing cuts directly into a tent for some reason.
Balthazar is the ONLY one that glitches constantly, why would you leave shards on him instead of moving them some where else or placing them on all vendors?
All of those prices look jacked up and fubar. Goodluck scamming some idiot with 5k to blow.
Bump, need uncontested for my legendary. My server has 5 people fighting and 25 dead people watching.
Yeah, noticed it shortly after, thanks for the heads up guys.
That never made the patch notes, and it’s kind of kittened up to remove our core utility skill without even mentioning it.

Me and my guild do hotw farm runs since it’s one of the quickest dungeons when you know what you’re doing, and we usually farm it even with max DR just for lodestones and we get crashes every now and then in and around the entrances. Sometimes while loading, sometimes after we’ve loaded in.

This is a very minor crash bug as it doesn’t happen while you’re doing the dungeon, only shortly after loading or while loading. It’s also not very common, our guild has done tons of runs and we only crash 1-2 times a day.
@whiran he bought gold low and sold it high, nowhere does he say he stole accounts. Seen it ages ago, I’m on top of this stuff. You have the burden of proof.
I don’t want to get into an argument, so this is the last statement I will make here:
Of the data that I have seen. Which is significant. It is reasonable to say
1) Goldsellers are a criminal group
2) Goldsellers damage games
3) Goldsellers cannot be classified as competition because they are not in the same industryThese are not statements of belief. They are statements of statistics.
Unless you have some super secret insider that sells gold all the time and knows how all of these companies “supposedly” work then I’m going to call bullcrap on your “statistics”. If you’re going to discourage gold buying/selling go for it, it’s your product and you have every right. Scare tactics and flat out fabricated “facts” are in poor form and every time I see or Gaile post something like this it makes me want to punch myself in the eyes. It’s just as bad as people making kitten claims about political candidates, the only person who knows is the person in question.
Just a quick retort on the subject of stealing accounts: Does it happen? Yes. Are the “majority” of gold sellers using this tactics? It’s a kittening multi-million dollar market, I’m pretty sure they can afford to buy legitimate accounts. Given the amount of EFFORT, TIME, and WORK that is put into hacking data from web servers and whatnot on websites, and the severe lack of effort, time, and work it takes to just buy legitimate keys your argument holds just about zero water.
While I do respect your profession as a game developer, and as an adult, I don’t respect you inferring that you know what’s what when it comes to gold selling, botting, and account hacking.
On an ending note hire better economists.
It also triggers at the END of dagger storm, and those aren’t ravens, they’re plain old hawks that every ranger has :\
Should add legendary back equipments, that way people can add more flair/uniqueness to their characters without relying on certain classes for a specific look, or simply add skins to the BL chests/BLTP. The books and backpack were both well done, I’d love to see what your wonderful art team can come up with.
Not sure if this is intended, but on channeled skills such as dagger storm the “ravens” don’t attack until the skill is over making it pretty much useless as everything is already dead.
Also, the “ravens” are hawks, not black spooky birds that look awesome, saved for 3 days to get these just for the fun effect and it kind of seems like a waste of money now.
Because some people like myself don’t want to grind to look cool, we want to look cool while we just play the game. It’s not an achievement, it’s a long drawn out effort scoring kills over and over while wearing kitteny medium armor that looks awful the entire time.
Badges of Honor requires immense amounts of player kills to obtain, the drop rate is completely random, and as is it would take the average player months (2 months without jumping puzzle dailies, seeing as they’ve been bugged for a week) to obtain playing casually . My suggestions is that you make events spawn chests that give badges, or reward badges similar to the dungeon reward system. Killing and defending yaks could give 1 badge, supply camps 3, towers 5, and garrisons/orbs 15.
Honestly, I only want two pieces of the set for cosmetic reasons and it’s going to take me ages to get them, I play an average of 6-8 hours of WvW a day on the weekends and end up with 10 badges for my time. (I score plenty of items from players, just 95% of it is salvageable items).
Since this is a backpack thread, I have a suggestion. Since these are typically end game backbraces everyone “should” obtain eventually, why not have them raise your cap on supplies carried by 5 that way it gives level 80 WvWer’s something to look towards other than badge gear.
Honestly, we just need more ways to make gold in game, you guys have stomped all of the “low-risk” ways, and the high risk forms of farming aren’t very rewarding. I’d say make dungeon gear bind on equip instead of bind on aquire, or allow dungeon tokens to be exchanged to npcs for gold, this way people can do their daily dungeon runs without feeling like the game is trying everything it can do to prevent them from progressing.
I play wvw 4-8 hours at a time with full MF accessories and omnomberry bars and net 3-10 badges in that span. A few weeks ago I would get 50-100 in that time, as is WvW armor is extremely unrealistic, and it’s the only medium human set that doesn’t look extremely kitten erotic (no offense meant, it’s just not my style ^ ^).
did you craft it or buy it
@Discordian, That’s a wonderful idea and I’m almost positive it’ll be something they tackle in the future, be sure to post this in the suggestions forum or ask to have it moved.
@Kevin, subscription games are greedy money thieves. they make millions upon millions in profit that DO NOT GO to developers, developing new content, general work force. The majority of cash that subscription games make go to CEO’s high executives, and into the bank that way stockholders stay happy. You obviously don’t know how money works in the real world so you should just avoid speaking on the matter.
Most of the GW1 staff either aren’t on this or just jumped on the bandwagon for stock options when they saw the pretty cash shop. Now they have interns running GW1 and tearing it apart.
On topic, this is a pretty serious issue that’s being ignored, an item that costs 400 dungeon tokens isn’t working as intended.
Off topic, bumping a thread that’s being ignored by developers doesn’t give moderators the rate to delete posts and kick threads to the back pages. Maybe you guys should go check out the players helping players section where you send threads to die and actually do some good.

Why was the drop rate on these reduced so low? I played 8 hours of WvW yesterday and netted 9 badges, today I played 5 hours and got a whopping 3. 400 confirmed items from player kills and 3 badges, I don’t like those odds.
I just don’t like the idea of doing the same thing over and over again. I want to mix it up and experience any dungeon I want. Just like how I can experience everything else in this game without restraint.
It feels so backwards to have this current system.
but then other people could get nice armor before you, we can’t have that now can we? Because some guy running around in an arah set before me totally ruins my day, how will I ever enjoy GW2 knowing that some person I don’t even know has an armor set that doesn’t affect me one bit. /sarcasm
All of the human medium sets look like trash for males, cross transmutation would be so awesome, I love some of the light/heavy armor sets.
In explorable you can pull them one by one, they do a fraction of the damage they do in story (poison boss an exception here), and he’s way easier to evade. Story mode is kitten hard compared to exp on this dungeon.
HEY GUYS, I DON’T LIKE HOW OTHER PEOPLE ARE PLAYING THE GAME THEY PAID FOR, PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP.
Join a guild, make a thread on the forums, or stop playing the kitten game. People like you are scum of the earth because you think you have the god given right to dictate who does what and how.
sigh, we’re not far from the GW2 version of this quote:
Life of a PUG (or just a kitteny guild) in TBC:
Karazhan – No one ever has the urn for Nightbane. Netherspite impossible.
Tier 4 – Gruul and Magtheridon impossible.
Tier 5 – Attunements lifted. Farm Lootreaver. Do ZA but no timed runs. kitten SSC.
Tier 6 – Farm Rage? Winterchill and Supremus.
Sunwell – Farm trash.
Enter WotLK. Suddenly everyone thinks they’re the bee’s knees at raiding because they can clear Naxx.
I love how you make dumb WoW references without even watching the video. My post was sarcastic, it’s just us toggling him in the butt with rocks.
Adelbern is way too hard, me and my guild just can’t handle the difficulty.
Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQmUwEaK7K4&feature=youtu.be
This is absolutely an issue as the game matures and we are working on ways to make running story mode with someone worthwhile even if you have already run it so players just reaching these dungeons can more easily find groups to play with. It will probably take some experimentation before we find the right motivator.
Jon
Just make the mobs give tons of experience that way level 80’s have an effective way to farm skill points end game and lower levels actually have incentive to do story-mode instead of doing it just as a stepping stone to explorable. This would also cure some of the backlash from story rewards getting nerfed, since the experience comes from kills players would be encouraged to clear out areas thoroughly instead of just speed running.
There is a difference in “Sneaking” past a mob and “Bugging” it out. Getting by mobs by avoiding and evading them without gaining aggro is tactical, however, when we refer to skipping in this game atm, most people run thru, with aggro and hope to survive until the adds bug out and return. Is it a tatic? Yes a lame one. Level of skill required, novice-intermediate, based on your class.
With killing adds. I do most runs close to or slightly over 45 mins. After figuring out how to deal with certain adds and mobs, its pretty simple. If killing adds is that hard and it takes people 3 hours, its very indicative of where peoples’ skill level of play is at.
When people cry about good players being punished, you better fit under the category:
A. Do all trash mobs, clear all boss mechanics without bugging mechanics under 1 hour.
Otherwise, if your a skipper complaining that your being punished. That’s just silly. If we added the WoW feature where mobs hunt you down to a corner. I’d be surprised at how many people who would no longer be able to do any of these dungeons under 3 hours or worse, unable to finish them. The trash mobs in some instances are “Significantly” hard.
I believe instead of using a DR system, we should be rewarded tokens on how much of the dungeon we clear at the end. For example, 90% dungeon clear = 60 tokens, greater then 50% dungeon clear = 30 tokens and less then 50% clear would be 15 tokens. This would reward the Good players who can do quick runs and clear most content and give less tokens for people who wish to just cheese for tokens and loot. This will promote people to become actually GOOD at this game vs. cheesing and claiming to be GOOD.
You use the word bug to describe actual game mechanics, it’s called leashing. Enemies have a “Patrol” Route or radius, once they pass this radius they reset to full health and return to the start of their loop. It’s not a bug, It’s not an exploit, it’s a mechanic. It was an intentional feature placed there by the developers, not an accident. Not going to argue on the legitimacy of skipping mobs because everyone in this mob has made up their minds well before they posted, just thought I would correct you.
1 What exactly do you learn about game mechanics running between mobs, one day explain me lol
2 No problem. Anet will force us
You’ve brought nothing to this discussion at all. I’ll go into extreme detail on game mechanics if you’d like to pm me, maybe then you can explain to me how chazor clearing a dungeon in 15 minutes with his buddies hurts you as a player.
Could be an interesting info-swap don’t you think?
Don’t rag on my chainmail helm!
Dusk jumps in every thread with a legitimate issue just to claim the game is fine and everyone is wrong. I’d claim he was paid off by arenanet but I doubt they’d hire someone so ignorant.
Heads up, people botted in BWE, no one died, materials were easy to come by, money was easy to come by. DR doesn’t hurt bots, it hurts players. A bot grinding with DR up for 12 hours still makes more than a player grinding for 8 hours. DR is a flawed system at it’s core. It hinders players more than it does botters, and the dungeon DR system has no excuse for existing.
I’m not going to just ignore everyone but OP even though most of you are making biased statements without any sign of compromise or understanding, but I’ll reply to the OP first.
So:
Dear OP,
In Guild Wars 1 skills were handled a bit differently and character builds were extremely robust and diverse, utilizing the skill system players found ways to “Speed-clear” dungeons (A quick ratio: Underworld took 5 hours with a balanced team, they brought runs down to 15 minutes average). This became a huuuuge e-sport in the community where entire guilds dedicated to it formed, there were constant record breakers and it became a pretty serious deal, eventually that instance specifically got nerfed since it was hurting the economy, however speed-clearing was so popular that it was left alone.
Many of the players that started this trend are carry-overs from guild wars 1, most of them don’t even do it for the profit or gear, it’s just super fun to see how much time you can knock off a dungeon run. I have a few suggestions for you:
1. Give it a try with friends or your guild, finding shortcuts on dungeons is a rewarding experience, you learn more about game mechanics and that knowledge can and probably will carry over into other gaming formats.
2. If it really bothers you and you just don’t enjoy it try to find a guild or group to do them the gritty way. If you make a thread here on the forums you’ll get dozens of people who would like to do a nice balanced clear.
Now, to address both biased sides of the argument:
1. Just because people want to clear trash mobs doesn’t make them stupid, it doesn’t make them noobs, and it doesn’t make them jerks. Different people like different things, some people like the long fights that lead deeper and deeper into enemy territory, it’s immersion for them.
2. Just because Chazor Teh Ninja and his guild want to rush dungeons doesn’t make them exploiters, cheaters, or jerks. Speedclearing was a meta game format in the last game, while most of you are coming from other MMO’s where this isn’t possible you need to understand that Guild Wars 2 is the merging of several extremely different communities. If you don’t want to do it then don’t do it, don’t complain because chaz got cool loot faster than you, what the hell does it matter?
Just do what you guys want to do, stop trying to inhibit or provoke others. Arenanet made a firm stance well before announcing betas that this is going to be a game where you are not limited by metas, other players, or your class. A game where anyone can play how they want to play.
Addressing speedclearing aside, I would like to say that yes, exploits such as jumping the gate in magg chain in CoF is kitten Running past trash mobs is not.
Stay breezy, Rask
@Sinos your +stats from gear (precision, power, etc) do make a very large difference when you’re in full gear. Lvl 35’s don’t hold the team back at all, level 80’s just steamroll.
I didn’t mention any difficulty anywhere, 1 reply saying pugs and another saying it. I said Fun, big difference.
And the dungeons are fun for the crowd they were/are intended for. Most of the “Feedback” You see complaining about difficulty is infact by puggers which the dungeons were not designed for. You said they should listen to feed back. Well issue with that is the feedback is not by the intended crowd. Now those complaining about bugs. Thats completely different.
Really because my guild steamrolls dungeons without issue (gigantus included) and we all think the dungeons are a grindy chore, not fun.
@Nels, we get a trait that grants swiftness on dodge, two rolls that fling us across the map, AND heartseeker spam. I kittening fly on my thief.
