Lots of valid points here. Here’s what I hope the devs take away:

1. Unlocked weapon/armor skins – Make them salvageable/exchangeable for a Transmutation Charge. They are in our wardrobe, so give us a charge to use instead of storing them for a free change. Better yet, make them a “Bundle”. Email us a package with 2 items. #1 Click to unlock Skin in Wardrobe. #2 Click to add one free Transmutation Charge to your bank.

2. Tonic Tab…please…please oh please oh please.

3. Make BL Salvage Kits Stackable. Even if you cap it at 250 per stack. Since Launch I seem to have the best/worst luck(depending on how you see it) in getting these to drop whenever it is possible for one to drop. I know I am sitting on at least 11-15 of these right now in my bank.

Also maybe add a Tab for “Mementos”, Like “Polla/Polly”. Story Items that have no real value, but are part of the lore and story we have experienced in GW2. That some of us(go ahead, call me “Hoarder”) like to keep.

Oh, and for pete’s sake, make ALL the items needed for the various collections at least sell-able to a merchant for some pittance. Some of them are, many are not…so we just have to destroy them after going through all the work to get them.

I think adding 1-3 more tabs to the max number is OK, and I would probably buy them…but the above would be even better QoL for many of us.

I know many prefer Prophesies or Cantha…but I just somehow got attached to Elona/Vabbi…it felt like home…until EotN…I’m a Norn at heart.

Taking into account the current info…I would place my money on “You only get one.”

Makes it tough…cause we(also a small guild…maybe like 8 members) like our current one…but the Elonian Hall looks very very cool. Reminds me of the Prince’s Halls/Palaces from GW1 as well as the Kodash Bazaar.

Well, without HoT you have no glider. That is easy and does not depend where you are, if core maps or PoF.

The gliding will be enabled at PoF maps, remember those Zephyrites cities on cliffs, there were updrafts and so. Also Peach used glider in her part of show.

Agreed…they did say you would NOT need HoT…so I can’t see where gliding would be REQUIRED to do something in PoF…unless they are going to include a way to get gliding masteries in PoF as well…just more questions…:)

Simple question really…I did not see any footage of gliding in the expansion release video.

I am concerned that it will be omitted for the Mounts…but I don’t see why it WOULDN’T be there, too…but just checking to be sure.

Could be some cool gliders added with Elonian or other themes from the expansion.

So in the spirit of what i think this should be about, i am always glad to help players either by providing information or helping ingame, be it fulfilling certain quests, personal story, dungeons, fractals, farming or anything else. i might also help out with spare mats to those who need it if you drop a message here (please dont clog my ingame inbox with mat requests).
Just a note, im not a self acclaimed master of this game, havent earned many aps and im not sitting on hundreds or thousands of gold. but i gathered quite some knowledge and would be glad to help others by playing together, or just chatting nicely. also, i love the lore of this game so im not the one asking you to skip the story parts (which i think is the main problem with asking people to join your story instance).

Very well said. I don’t get to play as often as I used to, but I am one of those as well who can be asked to help with gathering, quests, map completion, JPs(except that $%#@!! Not So Secret JP, I suck at that one ), Story Steps, etc. So there are a few of us around.

As a second option, I’ve always wanted Shadow Abyss Dye as not many dark colors in GW2 really replace a solid-black dye. Some can get close, but nothing compares to shadow abyss dye.

Obviously I do not know how long you have been playing…but you can acquire a Shadow Abyss Dye from the Dye Kit that comes in the 4th Birthday Present.

Once you get your 4th present, just open the Jubilant Dye Pack and pick the Shadow Dye Kit, then pick the Shadow Abyss Dye. Its an easy way to get it, costs you nothing…just the time to wait.

Otherwise, you may have better luck asking for help with Mats to create your Legendary, as opposed to requesting a Precursor or Legendary outright. But you never know…some kind soul might help you out with those. Good Luck!

I too like the more “simple” armors. Clean lines. Not as many protrusions. I do like the Skull shoulders for my warrior…but I do agree…clean and simple armors…for all weights would be a great addition.

I’d just like to see some of the GW1 armors make it into GW2…maybe a bit upated graphics-wise…but little change to design. Perhaps is we do go to Vabbi (then maybe Elona) we could see a Sunspear set (Elite would be ok too…but I like the set without the horns for me personally). And please…an Armor SET…NOT an OUTFIT…lots of us like to mix-n-match…:)

I’m not too new to the game, but I wasn’t around for the year that the Scythe Staff skin premiered and now I understand the only way to get it is by buying on the Trading Post for 10k gold. I’ve never been much of a Trading Post hero, and I’ve never really understood how to make the most off of it or items I sell, which is why I’ve never made much money in the game. Someday I hope to get my hands on this rare item. Below is a picture of my Sylvari necromancer Doràn. I think he would benefit greatly from the look and it would be…soooooo cool to get!

I know its a gamble. And if you get an unlock to drop, its a random one you do not have that unlocks…so no way to choose…its random.

I think this could be done…and within the lore. Perhaps not a festival ALL the time, but it it could be live all the time.

I could see some of the survivors of the crash in Dry Top migrating back to the cliffs and it becoming the “2nd Home” for the Zephyrites.

Then, once a year they could have a festival honoring the spirit of the Zephyrite people and having all the special events and such as a celebration of life…which is greatly valued by the Zephyrites.

I am not a programmer, but I would hope, since the area exists, it could be done with a smaller investment of time and resources to set the area up as an independent area, perhaps a couple of dynamic events, and a few crystal nodes…nothing too complex. Possibly the biggest adjustment would be adding gliding…which we all know people would want.

Its an idea…take it for what it is…:)

You’ll see a listing in the 2nd row, below the times, that says “Lumber”. Be there when this starts…but be patient…I was there around 15-20 mins before the event actually fired off. But it does happen…its just hard to be there at just the right time.

I have used this build, in a couple of varying forms, in PvE (before the Elite Specs) and had great success with it. Not much can take down a Vampiric Minion-Master.

Again, this is what I was using before the elite specs…now i sometimes switch Soul reaping for Reaper to get the use of “Rise!” to make even more minions.

Good luck and try different variations to find what suits you best.

Also, if you are in NA, but also there is a Guild called “We Hate Jumping Puzzles” that helped both myself and my daughter get this completed.

A couple tips:

1. Set a personal Waypoint in the water you want to hit if doing the diving goggles achievement BEFORE you go up. Makes it much easier to get your bearings when tryign to decide where to jump to get past the holographic stuff and not get Dead.

2. If you are doing the JP Achievement, get the goggles while you’re at it. I did not and had to go through getting some help to do it again.

Both times, I found help that did not ask for any compensation, but I gave them something for their trouble anyway, as it was a big help to me.

(This is the ONLY JP I have not been able to do myself in the whole game. So I am very sympathetic to anyone trying to do this or the dive goggles. )

Some of the most fun I have is finding a map with a decent amount of people(not a really empty one), and just roam around and help others with the DEs.

Some of the best in-game player interactions for me have been helping players complete these events. Often a nice “Thanks for the help” and many times a few good Q&As from newer players.

I like the updates.

I have one request for the future:

Can we have an alternate method, not requiring gold or far less gold, to obtain a Commander Tag?

I don’t play hard-core, I’m a casual player(2-3 times a week, 1-3 hours at a time), and I just don’t ever seem to rack up that much gold. Please make it challenging and some work, but can we cut down the amount of gold in some way? (I know, I know…I should have gotten one when it was 100 before the increase.)

Hello All! First I would like to thank our lovely Dev for creating this forum.

Just a note.

StinVec.3621 actually started this thread, and it has been great. Many have gotten things they need in game to complete certain collections, create items, etc. Also, many have shown great generosity in gifitng things from the gem shop to those in need of some “creature comforts”.

I’m not sure if StinVec.3621 is very active currently. But every now and then we see a check in. Gaile has been great in helping to keep this thread focused on what it was meant to be. A way for the players who may be lucky/fortunate enough to have some extra to help out those who have poor luck/less resources.

As a long time reader of this thread, and one of the very early beneficiaries(I was collecting in-game things for crafting and an achievement), all I can say is things like this are what keep me playing GW2. From helping with in-game items/materials, to gifting gem store stuff(which I haven’t been able to do myself), to helping those in need claim their Guild Halls or hunt down specific bosses to take down to get those elusive drops for some collections or complete those %#$@!! Jumping Puzzles.

Thanks Gaile(and the other ANet staff that check out the thread every now and then) for helping to keep us on-track, honest, and fair.

Thanks to all who read the posts, check on statuses, update their posts, and help where they can. Lets keep this going strong, and help those when we can.

You could mix in a couple of pieces of Knight Gear (Tough/Power/Prec) to boost up your toughness just a bit, and you really wouldn’t lose too much damage. (I’m not a min/maxer, so its an acceptable trade off to me, but others do not agree…and that’s ok).

Def get those trinkets up to ascended (use Laurels, or farm the new areas as gatsu suggested), and you can get an ascended backpack in any of the new areas with a little work…and don’t sweat how it looks, you can always re-skin it out of the wardrobe.

Here’s what i use most of the time(many variations are possible and I change based on need for what we are doing)…I haven’t gone so far as to get ascended weapons…but it works pretty well, and I am always maxed on Might…and I share that Might with my party. Just as a note…you can also luck into a Greatsaw skin in the BLCs. If you get one of the Wardrobe unlocks from a Black Lion Chest, there is a chance it will unlock that skin. Granted its random(but they only unlock things you don’t have already, so unlocking all the basic skins and such could cut down the odds just a little)…and costs Gems to get the keys…but I buy 5 every once in a while just in case.

I just did this the other day.

I consider myself very lucky, as the farm was set up at he base of the Centaur Hill.

Someone showed up, popped a commander tag, and asked if anyone was interested in ascending the hill to get the POI, items, and random chests along the way.

Several players joined his squad(I think I counted like 15+ in the Squad on the commander) and there were several green names along with the squad. We went up the hill, got the POIs and items needed for achieves, and then went back down.

Again, I know I was lucky to get this opportunity. But, in this game, I have found that if you ask in map-chat or check the LFG tool…you can find things you need to do as a group.

It is frustrating when you cannot, but I have seen many times someone ask in map-chat, then a person responds and tags up and says “let’s do this”. I have done so myself in some cases using the Mentor Tag (I don’t have a commander tag, and I am not spending that kind of gold to get one…lol).

So don’t give up, and never be afraid or be too shy about asking in the map-chat if someone is willing to command/mentor a group to get an achievement specific goal completed.

Personally, I don’t use it for condi, I use it for the invulnerability if I am about to die, or if the group I am in is about to ambush another group in WvW. (Or for a Turret, Traps, and Drones Theme Night in WvW…lol )

I use it in WvW(as many Sylvari do, especially as a Ranger)…not usually PvE…is there some kind of OP or “not intended to work this way” situation? I’ve never felt it gave me any kind of “extra” advantage or anything…but maybe I suck so bad in WvW I don’t notice it.

I am also a 90% PvE Player.

My best advice is to check out and see if your home world server has a website, and check to see if the server or any friendly Guilds do any special WvW events or “Theme Nights”.

I did this, and found a lot of people who just want to have some fun playing WvW. We host a weekly Theme Night on Thursdays(Asuran Army(all asuras), Traps, Turrets, and Drones, Heavy Hitters, Necro Night, Naked Zerg!, etc) and average 12-15 (sometimes lots more, sometimes we’re lucky to have 10) people in a small group to run around, do dailies, and then just generally clean up our BL of hop to places where other commanders are asking for help.

We play for about 2 hours on those nights. And I can say it took about 3-4 of those nights an I had my GoB.

There are good people out there, and if you find the right ones, they will make getting the GoB enjoyable, and also may make it worth-while to hop into WvW once in a while just to catch up with new/old friends for a bit.

100% on board with this being a “content addition”…maybe a sub-plot in the story of Tyria.

I understand the value of a “mystery” for world color/lore…but this is just too cool not to expand on and make accessable for the players.

While a lot of what has been said is true, Lore-wise…there is nothing to keep the “Commander” from setting up a way to “re-settle” any Zephyrites back to the cliffs (which remember was just a “seasonal stop” for the Zephyrites) using the Pact airships, who would want out of Dry-top to a more hospitable location.

Really it wouldn’t impact much lore…and could be done in such a way to not make it a huge undertaking on the backend…though a cinematic or 2 would be cool showing some travel in the airhships and what-not…but it wouldn’t be “necessary”. It would also open up another area for return steps in future content updates/expansions. And yes, I do understand the kind of work it would take to revamp the map to add in gliding, so I do appreciate the time/manpower constraint. Its a small enough area maybe adding in 1 or 2 of the repeatable hearts might also be possible in the future; not necessarily there if it were to return…but be added in later, as a slow progression of the development of the area as a Zephyrite Settlement.

I’m just hopeful that this thread might put it in the back of someone’s mind as a potential “cool thing for the players”. You never know…Gaile is pretty cool about passing along ideas and suggestions that may not be done immediately…but we may be surprised with down the road.

I 100% support this idea, and hope it gets shared with many. It never hurts to creatively and respectfully suggest things like this. So far this thread has had great point-counterpoint posts, and I hope it continues.

Hi all…I’d like to get some input on what players think are useful and fun items to keep on hand.

I’m thinking along the lines of in-game available items…not necessarily Gem Store purchases…I mean, who hasn’t discovered the joy and convenience of the copper-fed- salvage-o-matic?

I’m thinking along the lines of say…Mystic Forge Conduit (the account bound one you can make), Fire Elemental Powder, Order of Whispers Spy Kit, Ogre Pet Whistle, etc…things that can be fun and useful…and attainable…lets try to keep the TP price on things like the Conduit(unlimited use) under 100G.

So what things like these do you like/enjoy using?

What benefits have you discovered from having them handy in any given area?

Which ones do you value as a “must have” for those just-in-case situation?

I like the LB/GS combo, and I like to have strong pets…but it feels like something is missing…I’m not sure if I need more Toughness, or what…I seem to get downed pretty easily. Maybe its a L2P for me as I do not “main” Ranger, but I have a lot of fun playing it…but I am not sure.

I have just added in the Energy Sigils so I can keep up my endurance for dodging(maybe I only need 1?), and I am willing to swap Moment of Clarity for Steady Focus in Marksmanship, if that may help.

I’m usually on LB in WvW, and GS is my finish/Lord/getaway weapon.

I am just one of those players that likes to piece-meal my gear…to look very cool. (In my own mind, maybe…:) ) If I couldn’t do that, I couldn’t have cool looks like these…so keep up with the outfits…but at least give us some skins for armor as well…please. Thanks.

The only ones you can skip to are the ones that when you launch the story again, they pop up purple stars on your map. Thsoe you can jump right into at that location…

I am in your same boat…I want to do the 5 min achieve, but realized i have to play the whole thing to get to it.

I do not command in WvW(can’t afford the Tag), but I can offer some insight from observations. You may already command and know much of what I will list, but I am going to write from a very basic perspective.

1. Do not expect/plan to be in close combat a lot when you are commanding. You need to keep a larger view of what is going on. I would suggest a CC weapon set to get yourself clear of any mobs. Hammer (or maybe Mace/Shield) and Longbow for the range AoE. I think I would keep them Berserker weapons.

2. Tanky is a must. I hate to suggest changing armors, as I personally like Marauder’s gear…but I think you need a bit more “Tankiness”. I’m not sure what to suggest here…maybe Knight, Soldier, or Valkyrie armor…Durability Runes are a good choice…or maybe use Trooper Runes…if using Trooper Runes I would run 2 shouts in your utilities and a banner.

3. If you really want Tanky…Soldier Trinkets…if you just want the Vitality boost…Valkyrie(you might be able to get away with Knight’s Trinkets…but I am hesitant to push that idea.).

4. The Traits are gonna be the tough one here…getting things to synergize well and provide you with the stability, mobility, and durability without giving up a major kitten-ton of damage capability will be a major trick, I would hope to keep a moderate damage level…I am just not sure it can be done without sacrificing at least one of those things with our current Trait configuration/choices in each line. But I am NOT a hardcore min/max number cruncher…but I hope perhaps someone who is will chime in here with some input.

Here is a link to something I whipped up real quick…I am sure it can be improved upon…this was just a first quick pass…the goal is to stay alive and be of use to the people you command. It uses the Trooper Rune idea…but I am leaning more toward your Durability runes the more I think about it…<insert sound of gears grinding>

I highly recommend the Jotun Greatsword. It gives off a cold mist effect, and can be acquired from a Renown Heart Vendor in Snowden Drifts.

I have used this on my warrior ever since launch(just after launch actually) when I stumbled upon this as I completed this Heart. I still get asked to this day by players where I got this skin, as it is pretty unique and I rarely see anyone else using it in game.

There are lots of very cool Greatsword Skins that can be easily obtained from Heart Vendors, so if the Jotun Greatsword isn’t your style, I suggest exploring the gallery here:

Just follow the links and see if any you like can be gotten from Heart Vendors(pretty much the easiest way to get some fairly nice skins). Others may take a bit more work to acquire.
