What I remember of LS1 was:
Getting kicked because the content was way above my level at the time.
Being abandoned after 3 days once the content locusts had devoured the content enough to get all their precious AP.
Being called a ‘casual scrub’ because I hadn’t spent every waking moment learning how a battle is ‘supposed’ to work.
Being blamed for failing events AND being abandoned for ‘leeching’.
Now all we have left are a few out-of-context events that persist and devastation that’s not being repaired at all. KITTEN to LW1
Just make it a box with the title “Empty or maybe not”. Make the ‘cat’ something like a theorem residing somewhere and you have to bring scribing papers or some of the various thesis that you can make.
The bottomline is that after 2hrs and countless failed attempts I gave up. Just about a hour ago, I tried again all the way from the beginning. Completed it without one death within 45mins. I should be happy but my only response was “screw this fight and not doing it ever again.” The only reason I tried on my alt is because I wanted the Sylvari experience which I thought was well done. This fight was not fun and did not invoke feelings of pride when I did it. It just kittened me off to the point that I will not be preordering POF. I am going to wait to see if POF story missions are like this and if they tie mastery points to adventure like activities. That was the other thing that frustrated me about HOT. This last fight leaves a bad taste in a lot of players mouths. Please do not ever design a story mission like this again.
I have just had the penalty box experience and then managed to get to the Blighted X fight…
“Shield yourselves or take to the skies to avoid his attack”
I take to the skies… KICKED FOR LEAVING INSTANCE AREA.
There’s a few choice words I could put; most of them infractionable.

I’ve just started boosting up a ‘secondary’ guild. It’s okay atm but only focusing on Workshop and Mining elements atm.
It’d be nice if we could have some kind of Alliance system like in GW1 where we could visit other halls without needing direct membership or having to bother guild members by meeting at the entrance.
Weird, guess I’ve been continuously unlucky then… when you need them, you don’t get em!
Yep, I always open bandit purses and go “Oh no, not again!”.
Sounds exactly like a market to me.
It’s an investment and the risk is that it might not be as valuable in the long run as you expect. Or like now they re-release some things that had exorbitant prices.
I mean those advanced racks might be good to get now if they don’t come back in a few BLC rotations like some of the other nodes that now cost hundreds/thousands to get off the TP. Or they might change how we obtain them and it might bring the cost down.
I have said the following in map chat only to be raged at and whispered by 12 different people to kill myself. Here goes…
If a soldier that goes to fight in Afghanistan or its surrounding airspace, he or she gets the Afghanistan Campaign Medal.
Should a National Guard reservist be able to get that medal? You know, even though he was never there? This is EXACTLY the same.
You were not there, you don’t get to HAVE it. Cry more.
And before you ask, no I am not someone who is mad because I am sitting on all the skins depreciating in value, infact I profited greatly from tanked prices by buying up a ridiculous supply. This is NOT about money.
I am a new player, under 1 year, and even I can still use my brain to see why (tyrian)vets would hate this.
I can see why you received the vitriol you did; it is absolutely NOT THE SAME as a real life conflict where soldiers fought and died to defend their and other countries. You should still report that abuse if you can because that behaviour is unacceptable.
And as for the “Tyrian vets”; I hope they ‘cry more’ especially as plenty of them at the time just abandoned the LW1 content once they got their shinies and left us newer players to fend for ourselves. I remember the blame being shifted to us when events failed because we were ‘doing it wrong’. They’ve sat on these skins for 4 years and feel cheated that they’re available again? Sounds exactly like complaining their profit margins have been gouged.
Several LW1 rewards were made available via the Laurel Vendor too and I don’t see that being brought up as an example of “See? They started making ‘exclusive’ stuff available before!”. And as long as the Wardrobe exists; every skin and mini should be possible to get in some form. Sovereign skins should be next.
And as for HoM and Raid rewards being available; not even Anet would pick at that thread. HoM rewards would see GW1 sales tank and Raid rewards might make them money but at the cost of the content.
Yeah, I’d rather have 1 extra sprocket than a duplicate worth 50c. Not even Professor Mew is worth that little…. anymore.
FYI: There’s a pinned thread at the top of this forum section to submit QoL suggestions.
No one looks at that post because it’s a ginormous mess.
Actually they do.
If you don’t check; I submitted an idea for a ‘Living World’ portal book to put all our scrolls in as QoL request. 7 months later we got the LW Portal Tome.
On my second account I got three identical account bound minis! They even stacked.
Can the minis be vendored or something? If not then anyone who actually purchases these boxes is getting ripped off. Paying gems for stuff you have to destroy – great idea.
50c for Horrik & Firestorm, not sure on the rest.
It is a bit annoying; like getting the duplicates in the BLC before they became claim tickets.

I found the mounts to be awkward to handle, the lack of a side-step on the raptor depsite being able to walk forward or backwards at an angle felt at odds with the regular controls of walking and flying. Quite often I found myself ‘side-stepping’ only to rotate because in my head I was trying to side-step as if I was on foot. And then the camera swung round and I found it a bit frustrating to reset.
A: You don’t need HoT to access the current pair but you do need it to claim and use the services they provide. Should be the same for PathFire.
Path of Fire expansion announcement videos instantly drew me back to Guild Wars 2 after about 4 years of hiatus from it.
Just threw my money at the double-expansion package (HoT and PoF), and never looked back <3
Say hai to my baevenant, Quitting ^o^ We’re ready for you PoF!
P.S is it 9/22 yet?
No, it’s not the 9th of Dihexadecember yet.
Also; Hi Quitting, I’m Dad!
Bitter Harvest Story Step consistently crashes at the helix. Reporting for a Radeon and an NVIDIA based system (both Windows 10) with up to date drivers. Graphics settings set at auto-detected and lowest performance.
Was able to make significant progress (up to the last group of mordrem on the helix) only to have game crash on engaging the mordrem (shortly after taking down the vinewall).
Similar story here but with finalé of Episode 5. I make it to the final fight at the bottom of the caldera and crashed out 3 times now in the last battle.
I got to the last cinematic on the most recent attempt thanks to some fancier flying.
About a month ago I was prepping a guild for claiming a hall so I decided to use a seige decoration so I’d have a few to spread about when the hall was open.
I used the decoration but it didn’t show up on the log and wasn’t in the storage inventory.
I’ve got the workshop open now and it’s not in the build queue there either. I double-checked the guild I wanted it for was correctly repped at the time.
I have a dozen more decorations unwrapped and 60 skirmish chests so I’m not short of replacements.
US also have to pay sales tax which varies from state-to-state while ours is all-inclusive.
You mean like how we can’t go back to Orr…
That’s because everyone who plays the game has access to Orr.
But there will be players who have the base game and PoF only and not HoT.
So anything in Dragon’s Stand, Auric Basin, etc have to be worked probably onto special instances where the start of the story is in core Tyria or somewhere on a PoF map.
Because since they aren’t including HoT in the base purchase, they can’t assume everyone has HoT.
They already have the tools for special instances of maps we have. Personal Story from the base game loads instances with the original Lion’s Arch. So it’s not like it’s something impossible to do. It will just likely reduce the number of times the story heads that way.
Point being ‘never return’ is wrong. I mean we’ve got a special totem to pop back to Aurene’s chamber and we don’t have to journey to Rata Novus whenever the LW3 called for it…
… there’s not really much to go back for anyway, is there? Out of the four zones there’s only really two instances that have any importance; Rata Novus and the ‘Egg Chamber’ in Tarir.
You mean like how we can’t go back to Orr…
Only two thing comes to my mind
- Making Mesmer that are the entire purpose / gear / build is to doing JP or HP train or SW farm- Making any profesion but with the race I don’t currently have just for the story purpose
Another is there’s a new set of Elite Specs coming so having two means each can have their own dedicated build for each elite.
It’s just nice to see that some things we say do make it into the game, eventually. Patience, virtue, yaddayadda.
That’s always been true. The problem is that many individual players expect the thing that they ask for be added sooner rather than later, without recognizing that there are other players and the costs of some great ideas might outweigh the benefits.
I made a suggestion for a ‘Portal Scroll Book’ and it took about 7 months.
You can’t but you can still buy individual scrolls if you prefer the separate versions.
Ditto, all 5 previous nodes. Ember Bay node was bugged for me last time as well.
Cheers for the tip, had 2 stacks just sitting in my bank.
A Portal Book – if LW3 is going to have a new map for each chapter; it would be nice if we could ‘bind’ portal scrolls together to make a book of some sort instead of carrying separate scrolls around or having to hot-swap them if we decide to change our map focus. Could also be extended to City Scrolls as well.
This is already fantastic! Now I have to go through alts and deposit some of the newly depositable stuff I have in their bags :P
I too am regretting my purchase, but I disagree with the above posts.
1. Allowing ‘your friends’ will simply allow the 20 different alternate accounts the botters have to load in for free mats, ie., “please make botting easier.”
2. I am very disappointed that it is only providing about 3 items per day. Please leave this item so that it only allows the owner to collect mats, but increase the amount of mats .
So far I’ve had 4, 9 and 9.
- 2 scales, 2 large scales
- 1 Powerful Blood, 8 Weak Blood
- 1 Powerful Blood, 8 Weak Blood
I’d prefer more consistancy with the mats. At least 1 rare per day plus misc others.
I wonder why Anet is ok with selling all of the other “nodes” in a mode that can be gathered by anyone in the home instance but didn’t want to sell this item in that same mode?
Nodes can be harvested with a degree of consistancy. A wood and mineral node will always give out at least 3 (except that darn ‘Rich Mithril Vein’), a plant node always gives at least 1. Although it is weird that we get the leather and cloth racks that give out 3, RNG not withstanding.
I suppose it’s emulating other MMOs as well as adding a little fluff that you have mercenaries heading out to help you gather mats on their own just for you.
If anything could be added; I’d like to see the occasional NPC show up to ‘check the board’ and maybe the occasional dialogue from them based off what’s being gathered:
“Mmm, more bones. The wildlife will appreciate the extra meals”
“Claws? Those stalkers won’t like that but at least I can sell them on as ‘safe’ pets”
“sighs Dust. More catacombs and more ghosts! Great!”
“Blood… well I was gonna make pudding but I can always get more than I need”
Blue player on Green Alpine Borderland, off-peak a.m. – didn’t see much of a change once I got going, stalled a bit at the start which was the only time I saw the timer unless I deliberately stopped.
Plenty of stuff was flipped back and forth due to me being on a rival borderland. Joined a small-squad to help capture the keep, paired up a few times to take Scout locations. It helped that the Greens were active in retaking their locations.
Any chance we could see the full timer on the bar?
This would be nice. As it is it’s rather opaque until you hit that final ticking clock when it starts to shift the colour to the darker decay-orange. At least if the clock ticks up you know you’re participating or we can see if something isn’t clicking when it should be.
We need degrees/stacks of outnumbered. +5 for hugely outnumbered is fine, but there should also be +4 for slightly less outnumbered, +3 for slightly less again and so on.
This binary state of “nothing if not outnumbered” / “+5 for outnumbered” is just silly and just encourages map hopping at the end of each tick.
Doubly annoying is that you can be outnumbered for the entire cycle but it drops a few seconds before the clock reset and you lose it all. Again, binary depending on how outnumbered you are at the end of the cycle (because map-hopping can basically lose you the bonus just because of a surge of friendly-players).
There’s a banker, there’s an empty counter downstairs, War Razor is taking centre-stage upstairs so how about moving them down to behind their counter opposite their merchant colleagues?
Even worse when it’s only open when you can’t even get online. For those on the NA west coast: 11:30 AM, 4:15 PM, and 1:15 AM. If you work 8-5 you’re screwed unless you are willing to stay up until 1:15 AM.
Its pretty dumb to have it as a daily eh?
Doubly so when the participation reward itself is either 2 potions or a large potion SEPARATE to the daily chest.
Whats the point of having a tournament daily when you can’t enter any of them?
This is the part that irks me the most. We had dailies removed because they were ‘too difficult’ like Daily Defender and even the Daily Profession Winner was altered to have 2 instead of just 1 to give them better odds of being done.
You want me to participate in a tournament? Then let me. What is the point in making a daily require a team of 5 and a once-an-hour chance at getting in at best? And ranked is still limited to a maximum party of 2?
EDIT – and after reading some of this thread; you wonder why people wanted to do dailies in custom arenas and bypass ‘regular’ PvP?
(edited by Tyger.1637)
Decided to use a siege decoration on another guild that has no hall yet and it’s currently vanished into the aether. No log of its deposit into the decoration storage and doesn’t appear as such in the storage window either.
Am planning to get a guild hall claimed for it soon so I’ll see if it’s just the lack of hall that might be the reason.
I’m a PvEr mainly, WvW second and PvP third. 186 Mastery, 172 Rank, 82 Dragon. I think the pips aquisition is fine.
First week I dipped in and just got out of Wood. Second week I played a bit longer and got partway into Gold. It certainly wasn’t 20 hours worth. Maybe a couple of hours
It varied from 2-8 pips the first week and second week it was mostly baseline 4 pips with the occasional 9 from being outnumbered.
Let’s not forget next week also sees the loyalty pip kick in which means it’ll be a minimum of 3 pips for everyone who remains loyal to a single server on every tick which means 36 pips/hour once T3 participation is established.
The only change I would suggest making is increasing loyalty pips up to 3 times so after 3 weeks you get 1 bonus, six weeks it goes up to 2 and 3 for staying 9+ weeks loyal to your server.
The crafters. I miss having that element on-hand in WvW. Call me sentimental but I like that there were named NPCs ready to help you make your various weapons, armour and other gizmos.
Now it’s just a few empty stables on the Alpine and an empty observation deck in the Desert Borderlands
I’d still like the rare scribing trophies in but I’d be happy with the list as it is now.
Things I’d remove (IF I had to):
Bloodstone Shard
Elonian Wine
Eldritch Scoll
Anthology of Heroes
Lump of Glass
The reason for those is some are from Miyani and the price for them hasn’t changed since their inception. It’s effectively unlimited storage that was since the vendor never runs out.
Lump of Glass is also a limited use item. It’s for mugs but more likely it’ll become mugs sooner rather than later. And also a rather expensive halloween skin.
However:
8. Meet with experts to better understand the needs of their area of the game (WvW, Fractals, Scribes, SAB).
Some of the items listed brought up one thing; utilisation.
It’s something that bothers me with most MMOs is this constant “new shiney”. We’ve got currency after currency, material after material, being added which is why the LW3 stories have been quite nice because we get a common currency and a single, map-specific item for everything sold on each map. It means you can work towards buying something off one map through general play across all of them and only need specific play on the map where the item is sold for items which use the map-specific item. It’s a nice overarching system that’s working very well and reduces redundancy (unbound magic remains valuable on all the LW3 maps). The fact that most of them have dual usage in both direct and indirect currency (salvage or consumption into Unbound Magic) also cuts down on storage space requirements
Re-using existing items is also a good way to reduce redundancy and not have to develop another set of items and currencies. The next expansion is on its way and I would hope that the guild halls will have the same system they currently do rather than having a unique set to ‘start over’ again.
It would also be nice if we had a return of the Zephyrites with more vendors to take excessive items like they did with Blade Shards. Maybe even a rotating ‘requisitioner’ that would take large quantities of specific items or mats like runes, sigils, ‘worthless’ TP items like burgers, green onions, etc. This might increase the value of items with limited or no monetary value while reducing storage demands.
Since you’re collaborating with other groups on this; might be something to pass on.
What twitch reflexes?
Well for me; I can’t get past the corridor between checkpoints 2 & 3(?) where there’s 2 monkeys and the first abyss where you have to dodge some obstacles at the very narrow edges.
I simply don’t have the reflexes to make the jumps, dodge the obstacles, and make the stops where one more step drops you into the darkness.
I got another blue this year. No Kaiser (tradeable) yet. They are dropping.
I think Dailies are in a good place right now. There’s a decent balance of achievements across the 3 gametypes especially PvP where the teamscore is now a shared effort.
I won’t shell out for Scholar runes or Force sigils, but I will pay someone to carry a piranha to the bee dog cat in SAB after failing for hours. And I am considering buying character slots just to get the Thief and Engineer cats (I would have a complete collection at that point). I think I have a problem.
Protip; buy and/or keep 1 slot free/empty for class-related stuff like this:
- You can roll a temporary alt of one class, use it, delete it and re-roll it as another class.
- Works for PvP dailies too since sPvP auto-80s every character.
- You can run all the cities for trans-charges
- Use it for a weekly keyrun
You’d think that it would be easy enough to establish a party member’s contribution in a dungeon, and allow them to rejoin or receive rewards based upon that. If they’ve crossed zero checkpoints in SAB trib for instance, then no rewards are given. Instead people get boned like this.
Or like with PvP. If you DC and rejoin with the same character; you get warped back into the same match if it’s ongoing.
Even if it was a better reward why in the world would you be in wvw or pvp instead of SAB!?!?
These rewards tracks aren’t for the players already engaging in the events be it wintersday or halloween they are for players in other modes to be aware of the events and thus the primary purpose of these reward tracks is to increase participation.
Some of us have Potions stored up from doing dailies; dabbling in PvP/WvW. It’s nice to use them up on seasonal/festival stuff. I got a nice set of Halloween weapons to give to a friend thanks to all the ToTy bags I got from the Mad King’s Reward Track.
I have the full set of Blue weapons from last year so I either choose 32 baubles or take what is effectively a trans-charge. Meanwhile I have a friend who might want a couple of skins but I have to hope for a rare drop from the boss chest or spend gold buying off the TP in order to pass it on.
It’s underwhelming to me but I can see why it’s the masterwork versions in the end box.
Even the Blue Skin at the end is for this sole purpose because that will reduce the demnd on blue skins in the TP thus making them cheaper and easier to aquire. The people who use these skins are walking advertisments for the mode as well. That single bauble for completion can only be spent in one spot so pvp/wvw players will natural be pulled to Moto and more than likely enter the box to see what its about. From Reward Track, to Moto, to inside the box, and finally purchasing SAB items on the cash shop.
Your better off in SAB because its designed that way to make a cheap easily acquired item(blue tier) and to get new players into SAB.
Which begs a question; what IS the point of the track? Chances are good only players interested in SAB would actually use it to bolster their burgeoning collection. To quote Mistress Elemental:
Like dungeon tracks, those are great because you get many tokens, weapon skins, and at the end, a piece of the dungeon armor. That is a great reward for all of the work to fill the track. The SAB track just does not compare at all to that. All I ask is for a tweak a little on the rewards you get from the track to better match the general reward tracks.
… SAB gives standard rewards from ‘real world’ Tyria, Shards of Glory, Continue Coins, Baubles plus the Weapon choice/bonus Baubles at the end. This year we have a guaranteed way to get Kaiser skins plus the new Crimson Assassin set; neither of which can be gotten by this reward track so it drags PvPers and WvWers out of their favourite mode to play PvE.
The Wintersday one gave presents and a Wintersday box at the end, the Mad King’s gave ToTy bags and a Halloween Pail. I’d be happy if it was just magnitude8 amount of baubles for each stage as that would still be thematic.
Because in this utterly depressing world where at least one person MUST DIE per episode/chapter it’s a relief to actually have something fun and lighthearted instead of “THE WORLD IS ENDING” .. again.
It’s like the Q episodes in Next Generation or the Once More with Feeling episode from Buffy. I certainly like SAB more than Heart of Thrones.
Hmmmm
What would be your guess for this years April 1st joke? I have loved everyone so far all the way back to the ones in GW1. So not sure what would be fun to do or play now. Maybe something the Aviator thing again? Maybe switch genders again? Maybe switch professions this time? How about stick figures again? Here are the ones from past years for GW2
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/April_Fools'_DayIf I was ANET I wouldn’t do anything. Recall the aviator issue this community tried to create? It’s not worth the hassle.
Brought to you by the same community that complained about free shared inventory slots.
complained about free shared inventory slots? did that really happen?
Yes, it really happened. Sorry I can’t provide a link right now, I’m at work. (shhh!)
But I do remember that happening.
Chiefly because it was at the top and separate; no choice. Messed with the layout a bit (I just expanded my bag window) and fussed with the order for some. Then the options were added later to integrate and move it to the bottom as well and it died off.
Everyone becoming a skritt and running around yelling, “Shiny!” would do it for me this year. Also have it in keeping with your character Norn sized skritt, asuran sized skritt etc.
Having just redone the Ash Legion story; I’d like to see everyone be perma-invisible. No joke; just no-one can see anyone.
I would totally buy it as a gemstore gizmo afterwards (aethestically only, no WvW or PvP advantage, etc.).
Could the rarity of the premium gemstore dyes from dye packs be changed to exotic? It’d be nice to be able to sort through the ones from the regular rares that drop from Unidentified [Colorscale] Kits or Unidentified Dyes.
Specifically the ones from the themed kits:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Celebratory_Dye_Pack
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Jubilant_Dye_Pack
If at all possible; could the Mini Queen Jennah be replaced with claim tickets? I have so many of them. And they’d make a better birthday gift than getting the same mini over and over again (and for future gifts).
2. The “daily”
Play 2 games
Win 5 games
Doesn’t that sound weird?
They’re mutually involvive, meaning, you can’t get 5 wins without playing 2 games. In retrospect, winning 5 games can take from anywhere to 10-30 games. This design seems counterintuitive to me.
Win 2, play 5 seems much more logical to me.
You’ve already answered this yourself.
You have to win 5 which means you’ll either stick with playing 2, win or lose, and abandon the 5 wins or play for at least 5 games to get 5 wins (or 10-30 games) which keeps Dragonball nice and populated at all hours.
Well, that’s the problem; no one has any good suggestions. The product needs to be very unique, most systems in this game are either covered in uniqueness or suffering somewhere but off-limits. I mean unless you traded them in for materials for crafting or something that are difficult to build or could use them as substitutes in something you’re just not going to be able to produce something unique enough for ToK to become a currency.
What about Guild Decorations?
There’s one particular decoration, the Tyrian Globe, which I’m loathed to make as it uses one Gift of Exploration and given how long it can take to get them and that they’re used in Tyrian Legendaries; I’d happily chuck 80-100 tomes just to replace this part of the recipe. Same goes for the bookcases; I wouldn’t mind another one like the Priory ones or other cultural ‘librariums’ to be made using these.
As for spirit shards; I once suggested they could be made convertable to various old LS1/2 currencies like Festival tokens, Mordrem Blooms, etc. Meaning those older rewards that still have a vendor would always be available. Anet could decide on the conversion ratio for each one.
City of Heroes had a code system but it was one-way; save not load (at least not online anyway). Entirely possible that data is stored in a similar fashion here for Guild Halls regarding object position and orientation (maybe less data since GHs are all pre-fabs).
Definitely have to have some safeguard against Guild Hall loading spam and some kind of error system for missing objects if you load someone else’s code.
If it’s going in the gemstore; it’d better be an outfit.
