It doesnt even work in 2000 units for me, just the 1200 units skill range. without action camera is can just teleport away if I have a character targeted in the distance…with action camera only 1200 units.
Hey everyone,
I posted this question on reddit as well and maybe someone here already has the answer
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3pw0jd/revenant_shiro_phase_travel_action_camera/
So I wanted to play full on action camera with the new revenant profession but I am missing a certain option/feature that the normal camera mode has.
With Shiro Phase Travel you can quickly teleport to enemies further away than the skill range, enabling you to travel great distances.
With action camera enabled I keep getting the error that I need an enemy targeted to be able to use that skill, even when I already have an enemy targeted! When I get within skill range, then it works. Otherwise I get the ‘require target’ error.
Anyone have a solution for this?
Cheers!
I have been wanting this since headstart. If Guild Wars 2 works on personal housing in the same sense Rift did it after 3 or 4 years…..the game can finally be called a finished product for me :P
Guild Halls are so dang awesome (from what I can see so far) but I would really just like to have my own bar. I don’t know if we can have some pocket dimension lore, probably asurans being able to have certain parts of the Mists available or whatnot. Could even tie in an event that the housing agency is getting overrun by creatures of the Mists and that you have to save em to get to your house or whatnot.
Also, new crafting profession? The Carpenter, able to make all kinds of decorations for personal housing, in the same vein as Scribe and decorations. Give the players their own place for place to retire after a long hard day of fighting.
Guild hall for guild accomplishments and as meeting grounds, instanced player housing maps (way smaller areas, think slightly bigger than the place where you fight the Norn introductory boss or the asura introductory boss) where you can invite a few friends and whatnot.
I understand that some people really want the racial skills. I had hoped for Norn to be true shapeshifters in battle but that dream was quickly shattered by a 3 (or longer?) minute cooldown.
However from a non roleplaying perspective, you will 99.99% of the time not use a Norn racial elite over class elites. I do remember using the bear charge to run away from enemies in WVW a year ago though, that was hilarious as it was a massive charge :P.
Even from a RP perspective you can say that the Revenants chose not to be able to transform or never use their transforms because they can channel frigging Legends from the mists and use their power. They may have a closer connection than the connection with the animal spirits. Also there was a thing in the lore that the animal spirits could deny or take away the power of a Norn to shift shapes.
What I would like to see for revenants is that on legend channel they would get a more obvious tell in which Legend they are. For like Shiro maybe longer hair or his mark on the chest / shoulders / floating around him. For Glint perhaps get some parts crystalised?
Think about how Bioshock shows you which plasmid you have activated, something like that would be epic for Revenant legend tells. I also think it makes channeling a legend more awesome.
Hey guys!
I have been playing this great game since headstart and have all the classes decked out in at least full exotic gear, even have some multiples of certain classes. Recently tried to get a grasp on Engineer so I leveled another for the experience.
The thing is, I absolutely loved GW1 mesmer and I understood that class. I absolutely love the aesthetics of GW2 mesmer, the mind tricks and got the Minstrel for my Norn mesmer.
But I just don’t know and don’t understand how to mesmer in GW2. I always feel more useful as another class and I have issues with taking other utility skills of the mesmer. I almost see no other reason to take other utilities apart from Blink, the double clone stunbreak and the random third utility to synergise with your build (often Veil, condi cleanse or damage mantra for me).
So I ask of you, ladies and gentlemen of the finer magical arts, how do you mesmer?
I want to love the mesmer profession but the mindset of a mesmer is lacking.
Thank you in advance!
TL:DR I love the mesmer looks and skills but I have no idea how to be useful as one, in solo play or teamplay. Bonus: chronomancer looks massively confusing!
Well the thing is, you cannot have DoTs with the same ‘oomph’ as raw damage because it would be unbalanced with condi cleanses. Some professions apply conditions too fast / too much in a certain timeframe while others apply way too little in that same timeframe.
I think if scaling was better they could nerf overal condition application without trivialising the need for condi cleanses and also making conditions not a spammable imminent death threat.
edit grammarz
Oh oh, how about the fact that Revenant uses Energy as class specific mojo and if you dodge and you are out of Endurance you get the message of ‘Not enough energy’.
Even the characters have lines of: “Not enough energy” when they cannot dodge :P
Zerker zerker is definitely cool though, you should use coral orbs in gear too, If I recall correctly it will give the name ‘of the berserker’ to an item. A Berserker warrior using a Berserker axe of the Berserker?
I really like the approach of Guardian of Tyria.
And yeah, as Illconceived Wa Na pointed out, I am used to getting my own stuff and I really dislike the fact that there isn’t a really reliable way to get cloth. I know it is a personal preference to not buy everything from the TP.
I do remember when they made silk recipes into what it is today. It was to bring back the huge numbers of silk that players had and to create some artificial scarcity due to the necessity of having the material. I do find decreasing the supply by upping the costs on crafting recipes is a nasty way of doing it, if you intend to keep the upped cost permanently.
It would have been great if the cost would be brought down again since the market is now effectively drained with the 3 silk scraps per bolt and 100 bolts for the ascended material while the rest stayed at 50 with 2 of the unrefined versions needed for a refined version.
I would have loved a new condi mainhand for revenant instead of shield (although it fits better with Glint, I suppose).
I think it is fine as it is. Our time will come :P
Why would you even level without Herald? Perma swiftness, perma fury, perma 5-7 stacks of might. When you are fighting you can switch to your legend of choice.
We’re talking leveling here, it’s a quick bam bam and move on to the next mob, not involved rotations like killing a boss requires.
Herald is an elite specialisations, hon :P Can’t get it before level 80 and in Heart of Thorns region.
As far as I know the revenant will start with Jalis. Grab a mace and staff. Mace 3 and Staff 4 are blasts, it will keep swiftness up on ya long enough for the weapon skills to come off cooldown.
Mallyx has a ground targeted leap, as pointed out earlier.
I think revenant will be a blast to level and also a very strong solo player with mace/axe staff sets.
edit Also shiro’s impossible odds grants super speed. Don’t really need anything else apart from that and your auto attack to wreck things :P
Well, the enrage timer in the first shown boss of the raid encourages the use of berserker gear but you also need condition damage to proceed. So apart from the raid being a mix of optimal raw/condition damage and about 2 healing power specced guys, I don’t see the berserker meta going anywhere.
If you can dodge plus use your class specific active defense mechanics and not get hit, optimal dps gear will be used, aka berserker gear. If there are more bosses which are weaker to conditions or bigger healthsponge bosses then rampager gear will probably be a preferred gearset.
P.S. BRING BACK ZEALOT’S GEAR Q_Q
Elite Specializations - add, not replace
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Undeadkemea.4865
So from what I can understand from your post, you would like the elite specialisation as a 4th line to add on your existing 3 lines you picked?
I think that kind of defeats the purpose of specialisations. I really like that they have done with the 3 trait lines max. Imagine having to pick from 8 trait lines in the future
Still need to pick 2 from base 5 lines and then your elite specialisation. Let’s say you have reaper now and maybe demon summoner later on. Reaper focusses on the power side of necro, Demon summoner may be really cool with Death Magic line. And the even further down the line Abyssal Conjurer may be sweet with the Curses line! Specialisations has me pretty stoked :P
Note These are obviously thought up specialisation names and in no way are they rumored to be true additions to the necromancer profession!
They should add Silkworm gathering nodes that I can stab with my Sickle and rip the silk from their buttz.
PLEASE make this happen. Make worm nodes and new buttcloth extractor harvesting tools, nao. The first infinite tool could be some weird mumbojumbo spinning drill thing with a claw on the side!…..
please?
Anet Announcement made October 5th 2015 following amazing responses and reviews of their final Beta Weekend event before launch, “Due to Trahearne’s popularity throughout our Guild Wars 2 community, We are proud to announce that Justin Bieber will be voicing this character in our upcoming expansion!”
That’s horrible, shame on you xD
Isn’t it time to revert the recipe back to 2 silk scraps for a bolt and 50 bolts of silk for Damask? After those years and cursed shore farming being nerfed there isn’t a massive flood of silk anymore.
That or add a new type of gathering node where you get plant fibres and refine it into cloth bolts? Hell, could even add it to existing plants where we would get plant fibres to make other kinds of cloth?
Dear arenanet,
Please, please, please make the ventari tablet movement skill an instant cast. This opens up way more possibilities for micromanaging while channeling the Ventari legend.
Currently it breaks up any combo you are doing, resulting in a DPS loss purely for moving the static tablet. This completely breaks the fluidity the rest of the skills show in combination with the tablet usage and weapon skills. I understand that the elite skill of Ventari has a cast time, for it is a powerful effect.
Let me know what the rest of you revenants think. Will this change make Ventari overpowered or is it the change it needs to be picked and more fun to play?
Hey Arenanet,
I have been playing with Mallyx and Ventari for a while, especially since I loved those from the last BWE.
I’ll start with my impressions of BWE3 Ventari and then move on to Mallyx
Ventari
There is just 1 thing I REALLY want. Instant cast ventari tablet movement. It is extremely disruptful micro-managing the tablet while it interrupts your weapon skills or combos. Ventari would be much wider used it if the tablet could be moved instantly. I think this change will be much more interesting for ventari players.
I am fine with all the other skills. Druid heals way more than a revenant in full healing gear so maybe look at the healing values? I’m not sure if it is needed, maybe some other ventari players can comment on that
Ventari tablet movement instant cast, please make it happen!
Mallyx
I think Mallyx is in a weird spot right now. It is the only condition focussed line with Mace and Axe as condi weapons. It has no other condi backup weapons (think thief pistol/dagger with shortbow backup). All the other weapons work better with power and precision with healing power for staff.
I have to admit that Mace/axe is a really solid weaponset, though!
Empowering Misery made more sense when Mallyx applied conditions to himself. Now it feels like a weaker Consume Conditions of the Necromancer. Maybe have it give Resistance as well?
Pain Absorption feels a bit pricey at 35 energy. I think 30 or 25 is a good spot for the utlity it provides and the utility you forgo while using energy for this skill.
Banish Enchantment is great, keep it like this.
Unyielding Anguish. I really like this skill but I would like to see either the range on the leap increased or the energy cost lowered to 25. Other than that it is awesome.
Embrace the Darkness has a way too high upkeep cost for the utility it provides now. -7 energy upkeep cost while only increasing attributes by 10% and 1 stack of torment AoE pulse each second. I would actually like to see the upkeep cost go to -3 energy and 20% stat boost or buffing all stats by 50% and lower the upkeep cost to -5.
This will provide a condi burst oppertunity for Mallyx users and also have the elite be worthy of using. In its current iteration it isn’t preferably over any of the other utilities.
edit Replenishing Despair minor trait doesn’t seem to scale with healing power. Is this intended? If it doesn’t I really think it should scale with healing power as well.I think this trait could also heal per condi tick instead of condi application to make it a stronger contender with the other 2 traits.
If you made it to the end, thank you and I would really love to know what you other revenants think of this!
(edited by Undeadkemea.4865)
Like the way you wrote the OP. Completely agree with it!
totally agree with the OP. Up the difficulty, make us scared.
Hey everyone,
I have had the pleasure of playing in the second BWE and now this third and final BWE. I made my revenant, just as last time, and quickly dispatched the enemies in the Silverwastes to get to the jungle. Expecting the same mission as last time I prepared my build and practiced a bit before I went into Verdant Brink.
As I encountered the first Mordrem, I saw those were 2 melee guys isntead of 1 melee and a sniper. The first time I met the sniper I got my bottom handed back to me, now I just raced through the mission.
The part where you have to hold out untill Rytlock comes felt way too easy. It wasn’t ‘holding out till reinforcements’ but more of a bore. The NPCs could tank the melee mordrem while I was fiddling around with some skills. In BWE 2 that part felt really engaging. Scary Mordrem coming from all sides. Condi AoEs, sniper arrows and massive melee knockdown AoEs all over the place.
I felt like kungkittenhero last BWE when I understood the mechanics of the mobs. They were easy enough to kill, not too high HP but they packed quite a punch. This BWE the whole open world feels kinda lacking with the Mordrem. It doesn’t provide the same heroic feel when you conquer the foes in the jungle but it feels exactly like the rest of the game, which isn’t the reason why I came back for HoT.
Tonight I will have a go at the Raid with my guild but until then, the open world in BWE3 makes me a little bit sad.
Please make the enemies do more damage again, include more Tormentors, Snipers and make the dagger Mordrem chase and stab me like mad again.
Make us fear the jungle as we did last time.
I agree with when being a new player, especially with elementalist, engineer or mesmer, go level up your first character to 80. After that you should have a semi decent grasp of the game and the class you are playing.
Then…practice
Also look in the class subforum to check out advice or ask for advice.
This guy pretty much got it when it comes to mounts. My guardian and Mesmer would be hppy! Also, make entering it so that attacking dismounts you, but entering in cmbat doesnt dismount you. You cant mount until you are out of combat (to prevent WvW wussies).
As far dueling, give people options to auto-decline duels, however make it default to have it unchecked.
I honestly think that Anet is being very cautious about this but never have I seen them state they are opposed to any of this.
In fact, I would say they have been trying to “revolutionize” dueling but so far have failed; PvP custom arenas which they have to scratch since not many people wanted/asked for them as far as dueling goes. Now guild halls, but soon enough once people realize how difficult it might be for a non-guildy to get there since they have to get out of their way, and then fight in a place that will get boring after 3-4 months, I foresee the same batallion of people coming back and requesting a proper, legit open world system. My guess as to why it hasnt been ut into the system yet? Spaghetti code that doesnt allow for the technology to be there yet.
<3 cheers, glad you like the idea.
I’m also 100% with you on the dueling part. Auto-decline duel function but be able to challenge other players in the open world. There are some sweet places to duel out there. This beautifully crafted world isn’t being used to its fullest potential!
For 1 v 1 fun I suggest the following:
Check the PvP server list for dueling arenas
Go to obsidian sanctum in WvW
Keep on running in WvW hoping to find a worthy opponent
Get yourself a custom arena to setup a dueling server
Join a big fat guild, claim a guild hall when HoT launches, duel everyone from the guild
Those are the things I can think of right now and obviously you would have to wait with the guild hall thing.
As far as I know, any experience gained on a lvl 80 character will go towards the active mastery. So if you activate a killstreak booster or normal xp booster and do stuff in the Jungle you would be getting more experience towards your mastery rank.
Atleast that’s what I recall from all the streams etc.
P.S. food buffs work too. Think of the +10 or +15 xp on kill while under the effects of food.
Well, that’s actually a nice debate about wether the elite specialisations offer greater power than the base class.
I’d say a revenant with Glint elite spec is more interesting to use. Same as with thief getting an extra dodgebar with daredevil. You could argue that it makes the class better but it all depends on how you play.
I’m mainly a power necromancer so I will definitely go Reaper because I felt necro was lacking without the reaper spec.
Revenant with Jalis has a taunt skill. That way you can kinda get your tank dream to come true :P
I’d say a lot of classes can be healers but won’t be able to do it alone.
Venomshare thief, Shout warriors, Blood necros/reapers, Revenants with ventari, Druids, Bomb engis
I don’t know all the healing stuff of all the classes but I imagine every class can sort of heal a raid for a bit. Druid and Revenant probably best.
I hope mounts will come in a way that offers players a 25% speedboost while on em, just like the static speedboost signets and traits.
A player will not automatically be dismounted while getting into combat but can dismount when they use any of the skills on their skillbar.
I don’t think mounts break immersion at all. Just don’t introduce mounts that do not make sense, like unicorn mounts. On the other hand, I dislike the unicorn bow, unicorn finisher and a lot of the weird minis and those got in the game :P
Introduce Dolyak, warg, drake mounts and whatnot seems sensible to ride in the Guild Wars universe.

Awesome, a reason to get ascended gear outside of fractals!
Prepurchasing is a thing of trust. I have no trust in Arenanet at the moment. This is because of the price and the sign of goodwill to new players and no sign of goodwill to veterans, no customer loyalty.
Imagine if guild wars 2 would have had a subscription fee, I wonder how many people would have stopped their subscriptions right at the moment when prepurchase started :P

Greetings everyone,
A lot of people are angry, appearantly so from the high number of threads on the forum and guild wars 2 subreddit.
kitten many have pointed out, the rage is because of the price of the expansion and the addition of the core game for new players while the existing players get to buy the expansion and core game again.
I propose not one but two possible fixes for this community splitting problem!
First of all, someone from the company should openly apologise for the decision of the price and show some goodwill by presenting one of the options below:
Option 1: Keep the price at 50 dollars and 45 euros but give existing players a character slot and a bank tab.
Option 2: Lower the price of the expansion for existing players to 40 dollars and 35 euros.
I think option 1 is so much better for Arenanet. The current price stays the same and they only have to give a character slot and a bank tab, not tinker with any money related shenanigans.
I personally prefer option 2 because I’m a college student and money doesn’t exactly grow on trees.
Just my 2 cents
kittened off gw1 + gw2 veteran out
1) Don’t make player characters fit an NPC’s theme. We hated it in the living story, we’re gonna hate it now, too.
2) There is NOTHING we get that makes us better at “hunting dragons.” Traps don’t- hunters and thieves have traps. Bows don’t- warriors and rangers have bows. We don’t get extra dmg vs dragons. We don’t get extra protection against dragons. Heck, in pvp and wvw, there are NO dragons. ALL we got was a dragon glove and a bow (which are totally unequipable so we can remove the dragon-theme) and an elite that might-maybe have a dragon graphic and can be renamed “Glint’s Somethingorother” or reworked to be somehting more Guardian-specific like “Vengeful Light”, “Wrathful Judgment”, “Divine Consequence” etc.
1) It may start out as an NPC theme, but that doesn’t mean it does not apply to us. IF Braham goes on this revenge tour because of his mother’s death and learns invaluable skills for tracking the Mordrem and dragonic threats in the jungle, it may be wise to listen to what he has learnt and try to learn those skills for your own allies aswel. Thus becoming a Dragonhunter yourself.
Even if it’s not because of an NPC theme, it is a very interesting twist to the Guardian from protector and reactor becoming an actor and leading the hunt in the jungle.
2) This completely depends on the traps. Ranger has traps that inflict conditions, Thief has traps that revolve around deception and furthering his goals (think about the knockdown or summoning an ally). Bringing the Mists into this argument seems void. The Dragons are a threat in Tyria, not GW2’s version of Valhalla where people fight for the sake of glorious combat.
Why not name the specialisation after what the guardians try to protect the people from? Seeing as to how the plot goes around chasing after the dragons, hunting if you will, it seems pretty fitting that the guardian gets the name ‘Dragonhunter’
You don’t want to use that argument because that argument can be countered by asking “well aren’t all the professions hunting dragons?”.
It makes even more sense if the rumormills spin true, that Eir is dead and our Broham picks up mom’s bow, filled with rage to avenge his mother. This event furthering his mindset to hunt the dragons even more. Maybe this rage or lust for vengeance makes him (and in turn our own guardians if we learn the specialisation from Braham) able to manifest light energy in more physical objects.
This would actually be a cool lead up to some sort of dark guardian or black knight style specialisation that is more focused on rage and anger than protection and virtue.
Oh come on, the first counter argument I already commented on in my opening post. This is just cherry picking and not reading it all.
And a dark guardian/black knight is super original? I think you can still go for vengeance with a cool head without going all rage mode, red infront of the eyes. Guardians take up their arms to protect. They can still protect while trying to get vengeance and this is what the Dragonhunter embodies.
I guess if they wont change it i just WILL NOT play guardian anymore! fine with me
To all u guardian mains. Tough luck.
To every other Elite spec out there, “GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY ELSE”I susspect commando, minstrel,Warcaller, and many more kittene names after this one
ANET IM LOSING FAITH :{
I want Thieves to get a warhorn offhand (or focus so I can use The Minstrel on him) and become a Bard! Also, shouts for my Thief. Especially one that makes me enter stealth. Call that shout ‘Hide!’ and I’m happy :P
But Guradian’s aren’ t specializing in dragonhunting by using a bow and traps… Thieves and Rangers can set up traps to trap dragons too. The onlything we get that is remotely dragon themed is the new elite, Dragon’s Maw, which could’ve just as easily been “Purging Light” or something. NONE of the bowskills are Dragon. None of the Utilities are dragon. It’s just a class name, some lackluster bow/glove skins, and a trap elite. NONE of that makes us better suited to be dragonhunters than any other profession.
Worse, the new spec unlocks bows, a backline support weapon. Hunters scout out ahead, tracking and following and snaring prey. How can a “Dragonhunter” do that from the backlines?
It is in the guardian’s nature to be supportive and caring for their allies. One of the previewed bowskills show that. A shot that can destroy other projectiles in its way. The fact that the bow is being used as a backline support weapon doesn’t mean the guardian can’t scout ahead of the group. When combat ensues he uses his bow to stay at a distance and watch over his friends while they fall in position and as the enemies trigger the carefully laid out traps by the Dragonhunter.
And IF Eir really is dead (or terribly wounded) and Braham picks up the bow of his mother which he just started to accept in his life, thematically it just fits all the better.
That other professions may be better equipped to handle a dragon head on doesn’t make them Dragonhunters directly. Makes them more aspiring dragon slayers instead.
Hello everyone.
So there are a lot of threads going around attacking and defending the name of the guardian specialisation. This is one of the defending threads.
There are a multitude of suggestions to rename the specialisation into but I think they all fall short to the name already given to the specialisation!
From the wiki:
“Guardians are devoted fighters who protect their allies and smite their enemies by drawing from the power of their virtues. True guardians are brilliant tacticians and selfless defenders who know when to sacrifice their own defenses to empower their allies to achieve victory.”
Why not name the specialisation after what the guardians try to protect the people from? Seeing as to how the plot goes around chasing after the dragons, hunting if you will, it seems pretty fitting that the guardian gets the name ‘Dragonhunter’
The biggest argument I’ve read is that everyone of us is a dragon hunter. That may be so, but not everyone is as good as a person specialising in it is. The specialisation learns some new tricks specifically to hunt for dragons and to set up traps to catch them.
I say, keep the Dragonhunter!

Coming back with the current trait system. I agree that the system is flawed or atleast not as fun. I preferred that most of the traits were unlockable by exploring maps 100% instead of buying a manual.
However it’s not as bad as it looks. Many traits can be bought and the leveling time in lower levels is reduced drastically.
I came back around 2 weeks ago and am having a blast because of the expansion hype. Seeing many of my old friends return to the game and seeing our dead guild active and recruiting again (eMoa on Far Shiverpeaks, if anyone was curious :P)
Stuff is going to be great. You can have fun if you set yourself open for it.
I found it odd that it said 5 WvW events…..that’s……what?
I was trolling around in Edge of the Mists while watching something with my girlfriend and I got the achievements after like 20 minutes aswell…What is going on? xD
Soooooo black desert online looks promising, also firefall seems nice to wait for black desert online….lol……….yeah this is horrible mate.
SPAM DAT 1 BUTTOHN!
Appearantly there were “tens of thousands of usability testers” who gave their feedback and this is the result of that feedback. I think Arenanet went to a handicapped home or something and let those people play it. I really have no other explanation.
I’m really sorry about your son, although it’s hilarious to read because this feature pack sucks so hard when it comes to leveling I guess your son picked up the same kind of emotions all the veterans are feeling :P
Funny stuff, read the opening post!
Hahahaha that was hilarious. Remember though, Arenanet is bad with sarcasm so there is a high chance that this will be taken in as actual praise and seen as the most positive of changes to the game they have made…:P
This is the Borat update: Thank you for the moniez! nyanyanyanya

Snip
The decision to implement the New Player Experiment system came from tens of thousands of usability testers
Snip
Tens of thousands…..Oh….My….Goodness….I feel so bad for those usability testers ;/ Guild Wars 2 is already one of the easier games to pick up regarding skills. Sure the Fields and Finishers are a bit of a hassle to learn but that’s probably the hardest thing in the game to learn.
Skills? Hah, hell no.
Traits? They were a bit confusing but if you took more than 5 minutes of brain activity you could figure out how stuff worked.
