T1 or 2 is probably your best bet. T3 does have some action at this time though.

Wouldn’t say not for anything, it’s impossible to pass up in WvW zerging but one of the problems with the weapon is it is a very choppy weapon. Sure you can do insane dps in fire but you don’t have any real defense aside from fire 4, Water can heal but not damage, air can keep you moving and control but pales in the dps category. And Earth has utility but no real damage making you very non-threatening.
With the other ele weapons there’s more even distribution of useful skills if you ask me. D/D for instance earth and fire both do nice damage air has the highest hitting auto with massive cleave and water has damage reduction, condi cleanse, healing, and a blast.
It takes a decent group to really take advantage of the Staff where everything else can stand on it’s own in general making them a better choice.
If you really enjoy staff try getting into dungeons or WvW since no one can out dps a staff ele running 6/2/2/2/2. Though you’ll have to probably be tankier in WvW not to be a free loot bag.

General staff build is 6/4/2/0/2 for PvE. WvW I run my own 6/6/0/0/2 though that requires intense positioning but does insane DPS.

NEVER should have added rewards to WvW anyway. Thats where the players looking for fun pvp went, pve was for the rewards. Now entire servers like TC have been bought by JQ.

Rewards are unnecessary but would be appreciated.. earning gold is hard enough in WvW.

If you are new, knights/soldiers is great to start off with. I however run pure zerker armor with a 6/2/0/4/2 trait setup focusing on massive spike damage with meteor/lava font/tornado. All you need is positioning and you will still able to provide support with healing rain + geyser while constantly dishing out high dps.

If you want to be hated by most servers, BG welcomes you.

If you want to play safe, the trait build is fine. I’ve been experimenting with 6/2/0/4/2 with berserker armor but that requires positioning + guard stacks.

From what I have seen on HoD is that most of the real WvW people/guilds are not spending allot of time in WvW, as right now it is just to easy, and all I see are karma trains running, blatant ones that that, commanders who are really bad coming onto the map and saying “On me for karma!!” in map. I know my guild would much rather open field fight than knock down doors over and over again and we have just not seen that, every time we find another group in open field, they run back into their keep. As such, I find myself playing WvW even less these past few weeks and when I do it is just roaming for the most part.

So with that said, once we come into some servers with a bit more power you will probably see allot better tactics, because right now the WvW seems to be filled with PvEers and people just karma training along, and seeing how HoD is almost 80k points ahead already you really don’t need that good of players to hold it, as we all know numbers and coverage is all that is needed allot of the time.

^ this pretty much. the pugs and smaller guild groups held down home bl so well during reset vlk resorted to tonic races out of boredom. i’ve spent the week roaming & looking for duels because everything else is just a huge karma train. at 7’ish pm server time these were our queues at reset … and we haven’t even hit the season start & have had at least two 300+ person guilds transfer since, not counting any solo/small team/roamers.

Very off topic, but real war is about politics. Not numbers.

SoR always had the numbers in T1, but never where they should’ve been. IRON was the most dominant force in SoR for months on end and was responsible for SoR’s first win in T1, but couldn’t hack it when they had some competition from ZDs and COIN. To be fair, their main commander was hospitalised during this period and this affected IRON greatly. They went from fielding their usual 50+ down to 20-30 in this period. This led to PPT bleeding out during EU, which started causing tension with the NA guilds, I believe.

The rest as they say, is history.

They have never fielded 50. I don’t know ANY guild that can field over 40 on a consistent basis.

As an outside observer, watching what happened to SoR during Seasons and the subsequent ramifications of what happened to them following on from Seasons. In short the answer is NO.

Seasons did more harm than good.

Imo, rather than seasons itself that caused the implosion of SOR, the main cause lies with the “elitism” attitude that a portion of their guilds had by unwilling to accept other types of play styles and neglecting the pve population during seasons. Not only were these inexperienced wvw players not offered help, they were also mocked and ridiculed. Servers that extended their hands out to help the pve players benefited and saw their wvw population grew.

A division was created on SOR during season by the elitism attitude, and leadership compounded the problem by forcing the entire server to tank which led to the implosion.

Well, I’m glad to hear that the achievements have been toned down a bit for “Season 2”. They seemed far too onerous back in Season 1 for a primarily PvE player, so I just skipped it all.

Those achevements were REALLY EASY. A WvW player could get it done in a few days.

I am not sure the majority of players wants another League (doesn’t matter how it is called) or a meta achievement that rewards one green item more than last time, or weapon skins that no one wants to use.

Once again those servers that get the most transfers will win, and we can all already tell which ones that will be. Stacked servers will get more stacked, servers with a lower WvW population (the majority) will get bashed for 7 weeks and in the end WvW will become more unbalanced than it already is.

If asked if i wanted another League my answer would be NO. I never wanted one in the first place.

You know Anet only cares about PvE players. And all PvE players care about is loot. Anet doesn’t care that they are destroying servers like what season 1 did.

What a terrible idea. The imbalances between the servers in NA is just way too big. Not only that but now people can just transfer to the winning server after a week or 2 since you are not bound to the server you are in when the season starts.

Feel bad for them why? There might be a few people left who want to be in tier 1, but you have no idea at all how long we’ve beat our heads against coverage. Not to mention the lack of small groups, solo roaming and gvgs. T1 is about who zergs hardest the most, period.
If TC or SoS wants a go, they’re welcome to it. Personally I look forward to fighting SoR, they’re my kind of gamers allies OR opponents.

I have to disagree with your post somewhat. In a way, you are implying that SOR doesn’t want to be part of T1 because of the zerg fest. SOR has always been known to be the the blobbiest of the T1 servers and they have admitted to this. Map blobbing is the best way to win fights and SOR has a tendency to map blob at every chance they get. Breaking up into smaller groups to take multiple objectives at the same time is the best way to play the ppt game, and both JQ and BG have done this to an extent. SOR, on the other hand, has never done this. Instead, they have always try to out zerg the other 2 servers to try to win the fights.

I don’t understand. BG accuses SoR of neglecting pugs and running tagless(which we do) yet we’re still the blobbiest server? I think your perception is misguided. We aren’t the server that blobs…you are, with your commander tags and a million pugs.

Yesterday in EOTM. JINX ran a full map blob instead of running tagless and having a commander leading the pugs like we did.

How did FA get weaker after the addition of SoR guilds? It makes no sense. They must have lost guilds at the same time.

I’m disappointed by SoR falling apart. That means there is no true #3 server. Any of the current T2 servers will get wrecked by BG and JQ. Even worse is that T2 is actually pretty balanced right now especially if FA starts fighting like kittenain.

It’s going to be an endless cycle of sacrificial lambs going into T1 for the week until JQ/BG destack or another server stacks. Easiest way is just to sit in EOTM until JQ and BG get bored.

JQ/BG decided to open the chest and buy most of SoR because they don’t care about a spread out even fight.

Actually SoR imploded due to their “we play for fights” mentality.

Some guilds went to FA, some went to SoS, and their oceanic went to JQ.

BG did not ask, nor get any of their guilds.

So you can pretty much expect JQ to now roflstomp tier 1 due to their overwhelming oceanic coverage that can push kitten ppt if they try. Just watch the match up. I bet JQ doesn’t tick below 275 and probably 310ish or more on average between 0:00 and 5:59 server time.

They just went to FA and SoS because they’ve always had so much fun fighting TC ^^

TC is fun to fight! Especially during our lovely Kaineng/FA/TC 7 week lovefest.

We are letting BG and JQ fight over PPT. All of our guilds are happily fighting in EOTM.

BG likes to sit in towers with their ACs. Every tower has at least 5-7. Add in some trebs and ballistas. Who wants to waste time breaking into their T3 towers.

Now that SoR are 100% EOTM only, it’s kinda irrelevant who has left or who is left.

Yeah last night I saw literally 30+ HIRE with around 15-20 Choo running in a big blob karma training some random EotM map. There were a lot of pugs with them, too, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they were all from SoR. It was literally the largest blob I’ve ever seen.

During our fights with PYRO we had like 10-15 HIRE and a few Choo. The rest were pugs.

It’s already happened here on SoR. Don’t know if it will be permanent though.

That’s what OnS did tonight for our raid. The results? Green team won. We captured both blue and red keeps. Choo was on the map but went to watch NS vs TW in OS afterawhile.

Yah OnS was the only BG/JQ guild I saw while hopping between maps. It was very fun at least.

All the more reason for them to Fix the Imbalances between Population and the Scores that are so skewed by Coverage, that you see some Match-ups over before the weekend is over!

Desolation earlier tonight ticked for +25 at 10pm and +50 at 8pm, which is as you can quite a sign of how much this new Map has affected us. I don’t think EoTM is everyone’s cup of tea though and as I mentioned many of us will go back to playing on the BL’s and EB after a while.

All we have to play for is Bragging rights and Server Pride, it may be about time that players catch on to the fact that there is no point in trying to Compete in a imbalanced Matchup and neither for the Server Wide Bonuses anymore.

Does this new map also gives less reason for Guilds to Transfer to lesser population wvw servers?

Same thing happened to our server. I don’t think we ticked over 100 ALL DAY today.
