+1 to the above. Having these exact same issue – also from Australia.
Zero issues when out of a party, nothing but rubber banding and lag when in a party.
I’ve been playing since the head start and never had an issue until today. Why?
This is happening to a lot of people; two people in my guild experienced this yesterday and now today when I logged on it’s plaguing me.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Network-Lag-Merged
It’s exactly as other people have stated. I think this has to do with the party system. I can be roaming solo doing map completion with zero issues, yet as soon as I jump in party my character skills lag, people start running in to walls and the game lags itself out. During the 10-15 seconds when the game is lagging I can type in party or guild chat fine, but the game just hangs. After a little while the game fast forwards as the action catches up with itself.
It’s infuriating that I’ve been playing since the head start and had zero issues, yet now since yesterdays’ maintenance I’ve had nothing but head aches. Why doesn’t Arena Net have a PTR? – it would resolve a great deal of these issues.
Hey all,
March will see the release of the WuvWuv progression system, new ranks you can earn in WvW visible to all other players, and new DubVDub specific abilities/bonuses that you can earn as you rank up. Our team working on WvW will discuss this system in more detail as that date approaches.
I can not place in to words how much of my time is going to be lost to this. All of my want.
Despite the absurdity of it, a warrior in a complete set of Cleric’s gear can push out some reasonable DPS as well as shout-healing for massive amounts.
The holy trinity isn’t as dead as the Guild Wars 2 crew would like to make out – agro still exists, tanks still exist, dedicated DPS still exist. The only thing that’s missing is dedicated healers, but that’s because every class heals.
As the title would suggest; please add ascended items with the Toughness/Precision/Power stats.
Is it idle to do Fractal of the Mist below level 30
I think the word you’re looking for is “ideal”.
Agree with OP. There is absolutely no status I attach to anyone with a legendary because of all of the reasons stated. Most bought it. Those that earned it are tainted by the majority of folks who bought it. I’d be mad if I earned mine and people could just buy it.
I worked (played/grinded) by kitten off for months to get my legendary. Stating “most bought it” is nothing but insulting. You’re right about one thing – I am upset Arena Net are allowing these items to be purchased from the Trading Post. I think it cheapens both the item and the achievement considerably.
There are two major issues with this match-up that I’ve noticed over the past month.
As Arena Net refuses to remove Fort Aspenwood from this bracket I think it has to be said that our server (since GODS basically fell apart) has zero ability to fight against the numbers of IoJ and CD. As much as I don’t doubt the FA guys try (and god knows, I do too), we almost categorically have the outmanned buff which does 3/5ths of nothing to help.
To those of you who say IoJ and CD don’t have some unwritten law – you’re wrong. I’ve witnessed it several times in the EB Jumping Puzzle where CD and IoJ pass each other by like they’re best of friends, whilst I’ll walk in by myself and get slaughtered.
This is not fun. The retort to this kind of statement will inevitably be “then don’t play”, but that’s not the point of a “game”, is it. World vs. World can be a lot of fun, but this type of match up for the past 3 weeks is getting stale. You’ve proven for three weeks running Fort Aspenwood is the bottom of the pile. Congrats. Can we go now?
I want this feature in the game and here’s why;
Tools like this provide me with empirical statistics which improve my ability to play the game. Guild Wars 2 combat has A LOT more to it than just stationary damage dealing – but I want to know how I can perform under ideal conditions and strive for that ideal condition whilst supporting my group.
People who use this feature as a “I’m better than you” tool are idiots. You know who they are – they’re the people who spam /party with recount after every encounter. You do not want to group with these people.
I want to know what, exactly, is the difference if I drop 20 power and gain 10 precision/10 toughness in REAL combat terms. Tools like this provide obsessive people like me great enjoyment. It’s about improving myself, not about telling other people they’re “bads”.
Absolutely. I’m amazed that I’ve never seen an in-game GM.
New professions would be awesome. I’m not sure Brewing should be in the same category as ‘cooking’ – if it were its own profession, however, I think it’s a great idea.
This along with Fishing and Cultivating would be fantastic.

This is why Arena Nets direction will kill Guild Wars 2. It’s not the direction that, I believe, the game was originally designed to take. Horizontal progression has always been Guild Wars’ trademark. This is not horizontal progression.

I’ve said it before many times in many different threads, but I’ll say it succinctly here; this is honestly the worst thing to happen to any MMORPG I’ve ever played. It’s worse than the cuts post-launch Warhammer: Online saw, it’s infinately worse than Ahn’qiraj ever was (that was actually enjoyable), and it’ll likely be the reason this game goes the way of SW:TOR with the cash shop as it’s main way of generating income for the company.
Whomever came up with the idea for adding precursors to the chest needs to sit down and really contemplate what they’ve done.
EDIT: Actually, I stand corrected. Tabula Rasa, Final Fantasy IX and Conan have all been pretty spectacular failures as well; those, however, were doomed from the start.

Rollback.
Arena Net would never do it, but that’s the only thing that could truly ‘fix’ this.
They should have held off on this patch and all of the content, fractals included, and bug-fixed/balanced the classes, PvP, WvW and dungeons for another 6 months. Actually have a working base game before you go adding new stuff that makes everything everyone has done in the game up until now obsolete.
It’s probably the biggest clusterkitten I’ve ever seen in an MMORPG.
This is the very thing I hate – people (like myself) have worked exceptionally hard to get to where we’re at with our Legendary crafting. One of the hugest hurdles was actually obtaining a precursor. Many of us devoted hundreds of gold to the Mystic Forge to get lucky – some of us did, some of us didn’t.
To have the precursors, many of which sell for hundreds of gold, just handed out to a select few randoms is… wrong. It’s absolutely categorically wrong. It makes all the hard work and effort I’ve put in feel worthless. It makes me feel like a complete idiot for investing so much time and effort in to something that others have for free.
I’m sure all of those people who have their precursor (or multiple precursors) are laughing all the way to the bank right now, but for the 80% of the population who DIDN’T get anything worthwhile from the one time only event, we feel alienated and completely disenfranchised with the entire game.
Where’s Arena Net’s response? Nowhere. What to they have to say for themselves? Nothing. Why should any of us continue to play and participate in your game when you’ve betrayed your manifesto and your community?
Answer us.
I uninstalled the game after this failed event. Not just because of this event but it was the final straw unfortunately.
So did I.
Any game that allows people to get their hands on multiple items of the highest tier for free, whilst others are completely left in the lurch can receive my middle finger.
Get bent, Arena Net.
Absolutely atrocious that you separate those in to the haves and the have nots.
You’ve segregated the community and by allowing some people to participate, by giving precursors to some people, and excluding the rest.
Absolute rubbish. That’s all I need to give my farewell.
Will we be compensated?
Just like all the people who were kicked out earlier, or haven’t even had the opportunity to participate, have been compensated? No.
Simple steps:
1. /map ask people if anyone in their guild/pug group is in an active server.
2. request to join
3. right click person in active server and join server
4. you will be queued; be patient and you will enter.
Wala~ how simple was that?
Here. So you can understand, I’ll bold it for you.
You can not do this. People in another shard do not share the same map chat.
If you feel that way, then you have the “choice” to leave the game and stop playing. Nobody is forcing you otherwise to enjoy the content Arena Net gives out to their players, or follow their “well made” design in place.
You’re spot on about that, and you’re right. There are a lot of people who have already done the uninstall, and I’m not far off either. Just because YOU got YOUR chest does not make this event “OK”.
(edited by Vigil.3408)
This is absolute rubbish. There are people claiming to have run this event 3 times (laughing all the way to free loot and precursors), when I haven’t been able to even do this once.
I’ve tried for the past hour to server/shard hop in the hopes of getting a look at this event, but it’s fruitless. There is NO WAY Arena Net intended for someone to get multiple shots at this chest whilst others are left high and dry.
This is absolutely unacceptable.
I know you are frustrated but this was very much intended as the last halloween clock tower event went as far as every character could do this once and have a reward per character.
Reminder that precursor dropping is only at a 1-15% rate, you should be happy that besides being the first to test the new content, you also received some common unique exotics/items via the chest if you worked hard and fought in the dynamic event.
If all you did was stand there, leech and hopped for the chest, then remember that you are only able to acquire rewards if you participated in it. Which shame on those that did that and decide to go RAWR at the forum.
Even after this event closes, you are still not left dry. There are plans to make a precursor scavenger hunt and the prices for them fell hard. So for a few weeks to maybe a month, our market(s) will be screwy and what matters is that everyone will have a fair shot at acquiring a positive experience.
It is. Go look at the ops other posts. Guy blames people for having a low self esteem. Pretty odd.
This guy is keeping the positive air in the forums while telling you guys to do something about your problems in-game while you still have the chance!
QQ’ing at the event and sending pew pew’s at devs for your laziness is unacceptable! You can waste your time all you want with me, but don’t think twice that you will be catered by anyone after they see how you spent your time during the last few hours of the event!
You are living on an entirely different planet to the rest of humanity. We do not have a chance. You can not select which over-flow server you zone in to. The very few over-flow servers which do have this event still running are full. The vast majority of people have no way of communicating with those people who are on the over-flow servers to form a party and get on said over-flow servers.
You do not speak for Arena Net when you say “this was intended”. If it were ANYTHING like the Halloween Clock Tower event everyone would be able to do it whenever they wanted, and the event would repeat. This is not the case.
The sheer fact that god kitten chest drops literally the most expensive items available in the game, FOR FREE, is wrong. Especially when Arena Net have locked out a huge portion of their players from even seeing it. It’s a horrible, ill-conceived design.
Life is not fair.
This is not life. It’s a specific event designed by human beings. This is not “Oh well, that’s life”. This is “Arena Net specifically designed this to benefit some players and not others”- it’s absolute rubbish design.
I had to work when this event was occurring, and when I log back on after a 12 hour shift I find several of my guild mates have their precursors and a 20 slot bag for free. How is this fair?
I’m not big on complaining. I don’t like to do it, and I usually I don’t think it serves any real purpose.
This is the first time I’ve honestly thought to myself, “This isn’t right”. There’s been a few of the changes Arena Net have made to Guild Wars 2 that have made me raise an eyebrow, but nothing that’s made me want to come on to the forums and actually voice how disappointed I am; not like this.
Arena Net – having a “one time only” event which occurs at 6am on a Monday morning which hands out Legendary Precursors like they’re candy isn’t on. It’s absolute rubbish. As the people who made and designed this you know very well how much time, patience and effort some of us have put in to TRYING to get one of these things, and for you to put an event in which hands them out ONCE ONLY is absolute trash.
This was not a good idea on any level. It’s absolute rubbish. I can’t express how disappointed I am in Arena Net right now. Very poor form.
I’m very curious as to how much “+5 resist agony” actually is.
If it’s as worthless as +5 condition damage… we have a problem.
Were Consortium Chests What the BLTP needed?
The way they currently work, absolutely not.
Even if I wanted to fund Arena Net’s bizarre RNG cash grab by purchasing gems, I can’t due to the Guild Wars 2 website giving me “An error occurred finalizing your purchase” via PayPal.
It’s like Arena Net hates money; no person in their right mind would waste actual cash on anything provided in the Consortium Chests. If an individual item takes your fancy you’re FAR better of simply dishing out the gold for it via the Trading Post.
I am not using my hard earned money for gambling because the house always wins.
Just as long as there isn’t another nerf or skill re-shuffle, I’ll be happy.
I’ll admit that the lack of any real ranged weapon sucks, but I’m really tired of ANet subtly nerfing us.
Interesting read. By those categories outlined I’m a “hardcore” gamer.
Can’t wait for the new patch.
Despite the massive amount of negativity here, I’m quite looking forward to the content.
I want to believe that this is a horizontal progression path, rather than a vertical one. Adding minor buffs to characters for the PvE content of the game through infusions gives lateral progression where before there was none. As long as stat inflation doesn’t touch sPvP and Arena Net are VERY cautious there isn’t a problem.
Well I was wondering because after sinking the gold for Bolt I have nothing to spend my money so I was thinking I wanted to sink into Eternity. Since my Ranger has 100% too
I can’t have been the only person to think “WTF” when I read this.
My Norn has full T3 Stag Cultural Armor, and I think it’s the best looking armor in the game.
The prices are steep, yes, but they’re meant to be.
Lowering the prices does nothing but make the achievement of being able to wear it worthless.
… I can’t see how it wouldn’t be a greater priority to get it in there sooner.
Mainly because the lack of a dungeon finder/group finder isn’t breaking the game.
It’s absence is an inconvenience, agreed, but what people are currently doing works.
My guess is that magic find works, it’s just that the base value the % is modifying is so small it has a negligible effect.
I don’t know what the base magic find is for any given character. Say it’s 0.01% to find an exotic; 150% of 0.01% isn’t going to be a noticeable change in drop rate. There was someone in another thread a few weeks back who did some fairly spot on empirical testing regarding Magic Find who came to this same conclusion – either Magic Find does not work, or it has such a small effect on your drop rates it’s unnoticeable.
I don’t think a single person has them all. There’s an achievement for legendary weapons.. and I doubt anyone has more than 2 or 3 legendaries.
3 legendaries.
?_?
The initial post implies you need to grind gold to purchase all of the required items from the Trading Post to make a legendary weapon.
This is not the case. At all.
The hardest and longest part of any legendary is the kitten mystic clovers. RNG is a heartless kitten sometimes and the important ingredient in what makes mystic clovers is karma. You can not purchase karma.
I understand people’s desire for legendary weapons. It’s their exclusiveness that makes them desirable. Even wanting them to the point of coming on to the official forums to complain that I want one I can understand to a degree (I’d never do it, but I can understand the motivation behind such an act).
However, if everyone has one then their worth decreases. They are no longer legendary.
The rarity of such weapons needs to (somehow) stay.
I hate to say this, but here goes…….
The weapons in question (pretty sure not all will agree) already have a negative stigma attached to them. The “legendary weapon” has become more of a grind weapon. When seeing one with such a weapon initial reaction is not to think “wow that person did something to get that” it’s more of a “there’s another grinder”.
^
Unfortunately agreed. They sure are a legendary grind.
“What if… we just print more money?”
Yeah. No. This leads to the economy auto adjusting and everything eventually costing the same relative amount. All this achieves is lowering the actual value of what “1 gold” is.
No. No. No.
So which dragon is this? I know it’s concept art, but it has to be a concept of something and it looks like this would be an earth dragon?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Dragon_13_concept_art_(Defeated_Dragon).jpg
Well bugger me if that doesn’t remind me of Lion’s Arch…
There’s a world changing event on the 16th >.>
“The OP I would ask to check very good that you didn’t skip any other diving location. Keep in mind that this update is from the start of halloween. Any diving locations visited before that date would not be counted.”
Thank you very much for the update. I wasn’t aware that there were other threads about this, I did (what I thought was) a pretty thorough search on the forums regarding the issue. Never the less, thanks very much. That makes me feel a lot better about the Metrica goggles issue.
As for the Koofooloo Jump, I’ll have to do what you suggest and try them all again. I’m 99% sure that it is that specific jump which didn’t count as I was keeping meticulous track of which jumps I was doing so as to avoid this issue – but I may have had a senior moment and screwed the pooch.
Thanks again for the reply. Helped greatly.
If possible, could someone please check the rock bridge in Loch Jezt of Metrica Province, west of Durotl Grounds point of interest, for the goggles? I’ve asked other people on our server and they can’t seem to see them either. I don’t think I’m going mad, but you never know.
Can someone who has made that jump before have a look to see if it’s a server issue?
To fix that bug, I had to do a dive that was anything other than the one that caused the bug. The reason I post this is to suggest that maybe doing an alternate dive first will fix your trouble with Koofooloo.
I noted Koofooloo as a problem when I first did it, and completed the rest on my list before coming back to it. No matter what I do I don’t seem to get credit for the Koofooloo jump and I can’t for the life of me figure out why.
I might be going slightly mad.
I’ve been trying to knock over this achievement and it’s driving me crazy. There are two diving goggles (according to the Wiki locations) which are apparently bugged.
One is in the Harathi Hinterlands, near Guardian Lake on a platform west of the Koofooloo point of interest. There’s a little camp with some NPCs and behind it is a platform with the goggles. I equip the goggles. I make the jump into the water below, but I do not receive credit for it. I’ve opened my tab to watch the achievement click over and I’m sure it’s not registering the jump.
The second is even more blatant. The goggles which are meant to spawn on the rock bridge in Loch Jezt of Metrica Province, west of Durotl Grounds point of interest, aren’t spawning. I’ve seen a screen shot of where the goggles are exactly meant to be, and they’re simply not there (Fort Aspenwood server).
If a developer or another player could clear either of these issues up I’d be greatly appreciative – this challenge is driving me insane. Not that this is the place for suggestions, but it’d be nice if these diving achievements were tracked similarly to jumping puzzles; so you knew which ones you had and which ones you didn’t.
Thanks for all your hard work, ANet.
Also very keen to get this done. If I’m online (and I should be), and if you need more people, please shoot me an invite. There doesn’t seem to be a great deal of people interested in this kind of thing.
I was extremely surprised how much detail went in to the Halloween holiday events; ANet could have given us nothing aside from a few pumpkins here and there, but they out did themselves.
The only thing I will say is that I do wish the ghost finding was more elaborate. I’m a sucker for lore. Still; absolutely fantastic.
Update:
260 rare hammers = 60 rare hammers + 5 exotic non named hammers.
0 precursor.
Back to farming.
EDIT: I’ve been throwing what the mystic forge spits out back in to it, too, but it’s given similar results. I almost always end up with a rare as the result of four rares. It’s a phenomenal waste of money.
“I bet most people would happily take a 20% hit to Karma for the sake of variety and do events in other places.”
I want to agree with you but I’m betting you’re wrong. It’s like asking someone if they want $20 or $25. No one is going to say no to an extra $5. That’s just how humans work.
Interestingly enough Cursed Shore and Orr in general is dead at the moment. Nothing but bots – everyone is in Lion’s Arch spamming “LFG MK” over and over and over again. Zero karma involved there, but it’s new and shiny. Perhaps your theory holds true, then?
Think subjectively please.
But I am. I start work at 7am. I’m just saying that we all should be used to this sort of thing. It’s never, ever been any different. Server-wide events have always been a struggle for us. Ahn’qiraj anyone?
As an Aussie I can completely understand Arena Net’s decision on this. I’ll be up at 6am Monday the 29th of October to see it – it’s what we do. We’ve done it ever since… ever. No one has ever catered to Oceanic players; some times we get servers labeled as “Oceanic”, but that’s all it is. It’s just a label. Nothing changes.
I love playing with my Ameribros, anyway. Any Aussie that’s complaining about this needs to take a leaf from Chopper and harden up.
Just like to reiterate what’s already been said. Fort Aspenwood – Fleshgrazer – Immune to damage.
Salads have a glow; can’t see a reason why this couldn’t be done.
