I’m having tons of issues with voiceovers on all my characters. It seems that I can not be directly facing an NPC who is speaking, or i can’t hear it. I also can’t hear my own voice in a lot of places. The NPCs have to be on either the left or right side of my character. ANy ideas or is this a known issue?

Was it in Stronghold?

Edit: I guess probably not since it was a flat 500 win. I guess they were just upset that your team worked together. People come up with all kinds of reasons to be mad when they lose here.

Nope, it was the fire one with trebs.

So, I was just on my theif and we won our last game 159 – 500. After I port back to the PVP lobby, I get a whisper from someone I apparently played against last game and he said “keep zerging cheating loser coward lmao” then blocked me.

I don’t get it? I know no one on our team was cheating and the guy is probably just salty, but is “Zerg Cheating” an actual thing?

Try incorporating just 1 spirit weapon into the following types of builds:

  • Heavy Burning Build: Hammer traited for burning will actually stack burning.
  • Healing Build: Longbow can fill the screen with green numbers in a WvW chokepoint.
  • Ranged Build: The Shield can provide you with a projectile bubble to pew-pew from if you are willing to chase it. The sword/hammer can chase foes long distance.
  • Lockdown Build: The hammer has a knockdown on a short cooldown with an additional interrupt on the end of its auto-attack chain. Combine with other immob/knockdown abilities.

Look at what they do… figure out what kinds of builds they would be good in… then try them. If they don’t work the way you think they should, come back and report why they didn’t work.

All the reasons they don’t work have been pretty well explained.

They die extremely easily outside of pve where they have a 90% damage reduction.

They have long down times once they die

They bring very little damage considering how much support & sustain you must sacrifice to bring them & even then have the first 2 problems.

At this point most guardians would rather they scrap them and create something new instead of simply buffing them because the last thing they want is to end up as minion mancer which takes no skill to play.

This. However, I want to hear Anets side of this. I wish gaile would get involved and get us an answer so we can either put it to rest that they will never get an update or if we can get them to come on and show us their side.

a nor has they ever been in high demand by the community. “Real concerns” is class balancing across the bored; leveling the Specialization power creep back down to Core specs.

That’s the real concern at question.

Spirit weapons come up all the time in this forum. Why can’t they also get looked at like other traits and utilities?

See, this is the kind of post that discourages any actual responses. Your post is saying, “give us your obviously wrong opinion so I can tell you how stupid you are.” Why would they answer a loaded question like this? You aren’t looking for a constructive conversation, you’re just looking to be gratified.

Just because you can’t hear my tone doesn’t mean I’m at all trying to make the question come off as loaded. These are real concerns and being direct is how I work in everyday life. I’m asking them to give us the full answer because I want to hear where they’re coming from and hopefully get the chance to voice my concerns.

Can we have some real input into why spirit weapons haven’t received any updating. I feel as if you (arenanet) are skirting the issue and not responding with why you think spirit weapons are “in a good spot.”

1.) Sword: too slow, can’t keep up with enemies, misses a lot, low damage for the defense slot you lose.
2.) Bow: you get 4 clenses. It should be shooting the enemy target between the 5 seconds.
3.) Hammer: same as Sword.
4.) Shield: the only time I’ve ever needed this was two years ago. This should move with you and offer a slightly larger area to cover other people in the area.

The issue people have been having with spirit weapons is they have been marketed to us as special minions and are unique to us but offer us absolutely nothing.

Can we please get an official response with details on how you consider them in a good spot when no one uses them.

Pip Rewards Should Be Individual

in PvP

Posted by: Vulcan.7035

Vulcan.7035

The changes for season 2 will make this less of a problem. Each team will have a tight MMR grouping such that each teammate should be very similar in skill to you. This is different from season 1 and unranked where we balance players on each team, i.e, high MMR and both sides and low MMR on both sides.

The goal is to ensure than if the higher skilled team wins, all the higher MMR players go up the ladder. Less unlucky high MMR players will drop on the ladder, and fewer low MMR players will get carried up the ladder.

Am I right that the intention of this system is to enable high MMR players to climb very very quickly? I’m just trying to understand why this would be better than a reset – I’m guessing because given a reset, it will still take a long time for ESL players to climb up just because of the element of randomness that is involved. The downside of the system you are proposing is that during the first couple weeks, there will be hugely one sided matches (I’m guessing you guys see this as a necessary evil – but perhaps it should be publicized before you get huge numbers of people whining) – however, after that the high mmr players will be in high divisions and it won’t be as much of an issue.

That is one goal of the system. With an MMR reset, it would only create instability (ability to climb) for a short while. Part of having the ladder better represent skill is that the beginning of the season will be chaotic as everyone fights out of amber.

Evan, if you guys can’t make the pips based on one’s self, you really need to start looking into a different way to allow solo’qers to gain pips by their own skill. Having to worry about getting a decent group of RANDOM people is not the way to handle this. I get it, it’s 5v5 or whatever. but no one EVER talks so it’s not like most people are working together anyway…

Pip Rewards Should Be Individual

in PvP

Vulcan.7035

It’s still random.

Very good mmr player and well skilled player X plays DH he can wreck necro’s, Ele, And revs, but he cannot wreck mesmer, druid. (this is not a fact, just an example).

That same players plays well together with Elementalist and druid for their support, but plays like kitten with a necro, cause they don’t offer support, nor use the trap boon support DH gives, and neither good with engineer.

If that player gets teamed (with almost equal mmr) players with following profs: Engineer, necro, thief warrior

Enemy has mesmer druid,, revenant, engineer, elementalist.

The rock paper scissor is NOT in his favor. He has 70-80% likelyness to loose.

Now the match is with same players, but shuffled roster.

He plays with, Revenant, Mesmer, druid, Elemtanlist,

Enemy has Thief, Necromancer, warrior, Engineer, and 2nd Engie.

This time he has 70% likeliness to win.

Anet: ‘but but ladder system is much better then in past’

No it isn’t. With the huge meta swing (like mesmer will probably be DUST and still be played a lot – making all teams having a mesmer suck), it will make the teams with Druid, necro, Thief, Engi and rev the strongest.

Teams with other profs will suffer.

There’s at least 30% of my losses, that are not truly lost because of player skill, or making rotation skills. It’s because the rock paper scissors, eated you.

This. You are missing the point of much of the frustration with and calculating individually over just the team. Likewise, if you are on a team and everyone’s having a bad day, why should you be punished for issues outside of your control? A lot of people don’t care about the latter rank (me included) but that rewards such as the backpiece are gated behind other players doing as well as I do. I shouldn’t be pushed because of them.

This is how you know pips are broken...

497 to 500.
Red team (me included) even have more personal points over the blue team.

We managed to kill their lord, and then couldn’t recapture the points in time at the end while some of their team were on our lord.

It was a great game. 3 point loss. Yet we lose a pip. It makes absolutely no sense. Games like this shouldn’t take away ANYONE’s points. Hell, everyone should be awarded for such a close game.

i don’t know why people think dhs are the end all be all.

Necro minions set off the traps, making them completely useless (well, the healing trap still heals)

Ranger pets ditto. Also, the ranger outranges the guardian and does more damage from range.

Any other class can dodge the traps.

Elementalists can share magnetic aura.

I am not saying dhs are trash. but they are not so great against good players.

Oh, and also, dh is my third most played class in pvp, and i win almost all duels against other dhs which , considering i am by no means an extraordinary player, means the people playing dh are usually pretty terrible.

No one is saying that bud. I run a guardian main, and I just thought it was funny. You should have seen the amount of traps firing off every second. It was ridiculous to see lol.

Profession Balance Goals Released - Guardian

Vulcan.7035

The dragonhunter elite specialization has proven to have a very solid impact in many areas of the game, but they’ve been a tad too effective in the areas of burst and disruption, and we’ll be looking to make slight adjustments in those areas.

Where are they getting this information? Obviously they haven’t played a Guardian. Why — have they tried to get in a raid? No, because you can’t as a Guardian because their “burst dps” doesn’t compare to the amount of damage dished out by any other profession.

The only place Guardian is viable is PVP and ONLY because of traps. If they nerf traps, Guardians are pretty much useless.

I get this error during PVP matches once the match is finished, before starting the Vale Guardian, and right before major world bosses or meta events are completed. It only happens in these locations.

PVP Match

After the match is finished when the stats/leaderboard window is open. Someone usually has killed me while the match window is open after the match is completed. I then click leave match to go back to the lobby then this happens.

This always happens when I’m standing next to the blue pillar before entering the arena to defeat the VG. I’m using the 64-bit client.

This usually happens when a world boss gets to about 5% health. I can never get in back in time to defeat the world bosses.

I think this one is really funny: http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2/v/13427956?t=28m05s

I mean yeah it’s probably possible to do a raid with 3x thief dps, 3x ranger dps, 2x necros dps, a ele healer and a guard tank. But you are shooting yourself into the shoe.

Also not to mention the requirement to have the right gear. Yeah you can be a condi player as what ever profession you have, but you need the equipment first anyway.

Wow, I never saw that. What he says is the exact opposite of what is happening. ;(

Constructive criticism on HoT

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Vulcan.7035

Vulcan.7035

1.PVP
It’s been a long time since new PVP maps have came out and only seeing one made me very upset. I loved PVP, and having to experience the same ones I’ve been playing for the past two years, was incredibly sad for me. I was honestly hoping for at least 3 new maps, even if they were the size of Courtyard.

2. PVP League
Solo players have been hurt with this league. It’s obvious from the numerous post on the forums and on reddit. But, how?

I honestly don’t think it’s because of people in different brackets getting in lower tiers. Obviously this is an issue for some and it’s understandable. You wouldn’t want to be playing someone in a higher tier than you.

I do, however, think that a lot of frustration comes from losing experience in your bracket for things out of your control (read: other players). Even if you get 250 points in a round and your team loses, you’re punished. You may have got the most kills, top skirmisher, and whatnot, but it meant absolutely nothing. Excellent players, even though they went solo and not in a pre-made group, lose.

3. New Maps
Lots of people vent that they don’t like the maps because they are extremely grindy. It’s not what GW2 has been about until HoT. While I agree, I think it’s because it’s missing something we’ve been used to for so long: heart quests.

Heart quests give us a time to learn the area and explore many different parts and stay in parts for longer than expected. You get to learn things about the areas. You get to explore. You have something to do that’s not just the same event, over, and over.

I think this was a missed opportunity. There could have been so much lore and stories about the area through heart quests. Sure, not many people like them, but getting down to it, quests are a part of our overall gaming experience no matter what genre.

4. Raids
I love when bosses are challenging. So many bosses in GW2 are just damage sponges. You sit there, clicking 1-5, not even thinking of whats going on around you. When I saw the first video of Vale Guardian, I was hooked.

You have to move, watch whats going on around you, AND kill a boss. This is what fun is all about.

But, getting into those raids is an entirely different story. Players have made raids meta, and if you’re not one of 4 specialties, you’re basically thrown out. Sure, you can try, but it makes me sad that I can’t experience Gors or Sabetha unless I join a guild.

5 .Masteries
Masteries have been amazing. They’ve been a grind to get, but they’re uniqueness has been a great addition to Guild Wars.

My only complaint is that you shouldn’t be subjected to constantly doing the same events and killing the same monster for mastery experience. We should be able to level maguma masteries outside of it. Why? Because there’s just not that much content in the expansion to warrant only leveling in this zone. Tyria is massive, Maguma Jungle is not.

6. Fractals
There were no new fractals. Something that I figured casual/intermediate players would get since raids were supposed to be for high-level players. That didn’t happen and it’s something that’s sorely need. A lot of HoT isn’t made for casuals, and that needs to be something you think about going forward. Not casual in the sense it needs to be dumbed down to oblivion, but something that’s approachable and achievable by a team of random 5 players.

7. Inventory
Since so many new items have come into play, and old items have been moved out of inventory, you really should have thought about player inventory. This should be addressed without the requirement of purchasing more space since it was known that more new items will equal the need for them. Maybe if you bought the expansion, you automatically got a new bank slot or something.

[Daredevil] - Feedback

Vulcan.7035

I think this is the first time I’ve been very disappointed in this game. After all the revenant gameplay. After all the other elite specialisations. I finally see thief; my main profession. I quickly bought the expansion (which I was going to do anyway), to see if all the people in this forum are correct.

I was hesitant on watching the gameplay from Points of Interest the other day, but I figured, why are all these people complaining about the Theif. Every thing they say is true.

Animations are incredibly clunky and slow. You not longer feel like your the fast-moving, damage dealing, thief you once where. Literally no animation is new, it’s all just copy/pastes from other elements of the game.

I think the biggest thing to hit home was the part about not being the fast-moving, damage dealing, thief you once where. I would literally never play a staff thief. Ever.

I’m not going to get into the animations and dodging because there pretty much covered. I will, however, talk about the staff. What is the purpose of the staff? It doesn’t do magic. We might as well be wielding a great sword with the “new moves” we have at our disposal. I really don’t understand the reasoning for putting a staff in our hand over putting a sword or daggers. We’re not ranged with the staff (which, In my opinion would have been an interesting dynamic of gameplay to be able to switch to besides the slowness of our short bow).

Every other profession feels like your a big hero with lots of umph behind your swings, your big damage dealing skills, and overall like a kitten. The staff feels like it’s my grandpas walking stick and I’m here to twirl it around.

Everything about this new weapon needs to be changed. Everything has already been mentioned in the thread — I just came to vent. Sorry this is such a long vent, I just had to get it out.

Thank you for this! Although, as a thief, I don’t think my “beelding” stacks makes sense on a metallic object, I do think fire and electricity would. Also, please fix the turrets in the air and I do think that the turrets should go away if the engi gets to far. Nothing more annoying than turrets where the engi is a million miles away. We can’t do that with any other summon, why can engis?
