I actually am finding the skill gap in Diamond is much wider than Ruby. By the second half of Ruby the vast majority of my matches were competitive.

In Diamond I am getting blowouts again. Fighting people that seem like they should belong in Sapphire not Diamond.

It was evident from the first week. Even some of the minor corrections would take the majority of the season (which is almost over).

But the solution to season 2 was to say ‘Prestige!!!’ and that you achieved what you wanted in that.

This is a great topic and I’d like to hear what other ideas people have that could incentive league play in a system where division matches skill level.

Make MMR transparent – There’s your skill level.

Have said it once, if I have said it 1000 times. Agree. Stop hiding behind ‘MMR’ if you believe matchmaking not to be broken.

How can we even know what effect a win or loss will have on the MMR because no one will show us what the actual MMR numbers are. At the end of season 1 there was talk about showing how the teams were matched and reasoning at the end of a match.

That was scrapped in favor of secrecy and powerlevelling high MMR players.

Two things;

1. Theres basically no reason to continue play once you get legend. No extra tickets, no extra shinies, just a title for getting there.

2. A lot of players gave up due to constant losing which leads to huge q times. Who in right mind would bother to continue play if they lose match after match. Pvp in this game is dead as Anet killed it by their horrible and most kittened matchmaking in the history of gaming.

Personally i have reached diamond, made wings and stopped playing completely. Atm theres no reason to play, i have huge ques and on top of that i blowout other team or the other way around. No close games whatsoever, faceroll or be facerolled. S1 had more prestige than this joke if you been soloq only.

This. All the bad games kind of burnt me out on the season. Crossed into Ruby and won 9 of 10. But all the bad games to this point both for and against just took the shine off of the season. I hate the new purely streak pip format (not to mention those stuck in MMR spirals), I’d rather people are rewarded some for having a good game because good competitive games are what I am after.

They pushed people to the top with dumb team making and they quit at legend. The players at the bottom got farmed due to dumb team making and they quit because losing streaks of 20+ suck. And the season is lost.

These seasons should be encouraging new players into PvP to come and stay and grow and get better. Instead it just allowed the best to get their temporary bling and the rest to basically quit. While the lower tier players could probably advance more now, they have already given up after being farmed.

Fail season.

Show everyone the MMR numbers then at the end of the match. Show transparency. And what is a significant effect?

What about after the 30th or 40th match of the death spiral? What is the effect then?

Don’t hide the matchmaking and show the MMRs of each team or all your words ring hollow.

By working on it. They said, that maybe they might make some changes ‘next season’. If you are an average player caught in a spiral and being asked to carry bad players, basically Anet has said ‘Deal with it’.

This season is what this season is. The overall health of PvP will decline. Pros will continue to be pro, but won’t get matches at high tiers. So they will reroll alt accounts and just roll through the lower tiers again. Rinse and repeat.

While it may not be universal, there are some decent but average players out there in a death spiral. All they can do about this season according to Anet in the AMA is just wait until next season since there are no plans to change things for S2.

MMR should not be a factor in ‘randomly’ assigning teams. Players should be picked for a match based on pip level alone.

There are actually decent players stuck in the death spiral. Sometimes even 5 of them are put together and they win a game.

What happens though is that with these actually decent players who got trapped in the death spiral are some kind of bad players. So what you get with these low MMR made teams is a couple decent players who are sandbagged with a couple not great players AND then matched against 5 players with higher MMR. Rinse and repeat.

These players stuck in the spiral will continue because every match they are being sandbagged. All it takes is getting stuck with one useless player and the match is basically lost.

Team building should be based ENTIRELY on pip level and not on MMR. Basing it on MMR is bs.

I finally had a decent win streak going the other day and what do I get to face? PZ running alts through sapphire because they can’t get a match (queue fixed???). But I guess that is another matter.

Moving along fine… lose a few matches due to teammates making a bad decision or two and afks. The death spiral begins, your teammates get worse and worse and you are always now matched against higher MMRs and you never recover. Welcome to Season 2.

Agree with the OP.

Something stinks with the matchmaking. However the numbers were planned they aren’t working out. This many people with crazy losing streaks AND the new pip system which double punishes them for losing even when they are outmatched going in.

Something is way off in the way teams are being put together. It might have been a good idea, but I don’t think the execution was really thought through. This week has been a trainwreck and people caught in the downward spiral are just going to continue to spiral.

I’d like to see this as well. Guild Chat promised balanced matches and that was the explanation as to why they weren’t making the previously mentioned change to show why there was multiple pips gained or lost. Now it feels they are hiding this information when matchmaking is off massively.

Show the numbers, so we can all see the balance.

They definitely broke something in the matchmaking. And this was all done to avoid having to explain the old system. Something is off, I just wish they would address it.

On top of that, basically requiring streaks to make it tiers really took a lot of the fun that was around last season. Where every point mattered, you would fight tooth and nail because you might just NOT lose a pip. Or even gain a pip. And ending a streak wasn’t the end all be all.

They claimed they weren’t doing that and weren’t explaining why people got multiple PIPs because with the new matchmaking all would be balanced. But it isn’t… it is broken beyond last season.

The breakbar can easiliy be broken if the zerg just uses launchpads instead of standing at the right foot. I try and explain the mechanics to the maps I am on, but they ignore the calls on when to go to launchpad and when to jump. And just go to the foot and press 1.

I have been fortunate to get on maps with commanders and people who listen, so am up to 13 breaks and if Shatterer didn’t launch in the latter part of the bar would have the smash done.

Just remember Purple Fire attack -> wait a few seconds and launch from pad. The 1 skill on the glide attack is a cc. If everyone does that the bar breaks easy.

Good luck getting people to listen in pugmaps.

The fight isn’t hard and if people used the new tools and mechanics provided instead of standing at the feet and pressing 1, the breakbars aren’t either.

The LFG tool does not appear to be refreshing groups. It is the same old entries, especially in open world, there are a lot without even descriptions.

There seems to be some creep into items of the same type not stacking.

Most recently I now have to keep 2 stacks of Merchant Express since I can’t get them to stack.

And worst of all today I got some Mystic Clovers and they won’t stack with my existing ones.

Bad enough that I am limited on bank space, but when items of the same type won’t stack it becomes a problem.

Pets that are set to passive are attacking targets forcing the ranger to ‘re-F3’ them back to passive. This is a huge issue for dungeons/fractals in particular where pets can cause unintended pulls other issues.

Let the Rangers retake control of their pets.

This needs to be fixed/reverted now. If I set my pet to passive I want it ON PASSIVE.

Because of this my pet is screwing up fights in fractals/dungeons by running around and agroing. This is awful.

I pray this is a bug, not QoL because this is awful. Just finished a fractal 50 where the pet did nothing but get in the way.

I just want to say, fumble recoveries are insane to get. While I am finally starting to max some of the other achieves (not that I have played a super duper much since it is only up Sundays and that is the day I play the least). But I probably have 150-200 games played and 9 total recoveries…. crazy achieve.

The daily login info needs to be able to be collapsed… or at a MINIMUM it needs to be on the bottom of that panel, not on the top or its own tab.

Scrolling down when I go to my achievement panel is annoying.

Lets just remove every achievement anyone finds annoying or tedious then. Some people just are not good at some things. If we adjusted every meta and goal to where everyone could do it without difficulty we wouldn’t have any.

It is really not that difficult you don’t have to finish a single song. Scroll your camera to its highest point and don’t swing until that dot is all the way across the white line.

I think the camera is one of the top things to make it easier. I do it without even thinking about it now, so would have failed to mention.

The first thing I do when I get on stage is make sure the camera is pointing top down.

I am not a big jumping puzzle guy and was really concerned when I heard the rumors of a new jumping puzzle and how it was ‘not mesmer friendly’ or something. I am fine at jumping puzzles, but average/below average if it is timed. I just don’t jump and rotate fast well, I need time.

I love the new jumping puzzle. It takes me back to early in the game where I discovered a couple JPs more by jump/exploring. Most fun I had on a jumping puzzle in almost 2 years. Either way, only been a handful of new JPs since release.

As a 23ker my issue is two-fold, one the AP numbers are insane to hit with the removal of dailies (I’ll cap later this month) and the high decrease of APs for the ongoing content.

The second issue is that since most people are going for one set or another, it is crazy to make us get both boots before a single chest. Switching that second boot with a chest piece would go a LONG way to fixing the issue.

I do like the ideas of continuing to have daily/monthly but just lower the amount that can be awarded per month (cap dailies per month not total).

But even better agree that caps at 15k daily and 3k monthly make WAY more sense than 10k/5k/

While I agree it’s an improvement I also agree with some people on this thread that that artificial wall we will all reach sooner or later is a bit silly. Wouldn’t it be much better and very easy to implement a hard cap to max AP you can get each day from daily?

Something like 5 daily tasks to get the daily reward and 8 AP from daily per day rings right to me.
And similarly, max 60 AP from monthly per month.

This would be a much better cap method.

Not to mention the numbers are kind of arbitrary. 10000-5000. The completionist types are more around a 5-1 ration of daily points to monthly points and the caps are at 2-1. So unless monthlies will be increased seems odd placement.
