dont bother reinstalling, i did it when february patch came out to see if there was any change. There isn’t, pvp still boring and imbalanced as hell, no ladder system, no rewards.
Come again to see the march update notes, but i wouldnt expect anything from Anet, since every other patch was a disappointment.

Funny, how it came to the point, that pvp players just uninstalled the game, and sit on the forums still hoping for change, even knowing it wont come out.

February patch is a big disappointment, and the pvp player base is getting smaller with each passing day.

I quit the game month ago, came back today to see the changes, and quit again. Few things i’d like to point what this game needs, that should have been delivered with release or past patches, before i go back to WoW (Guild wars 2 made me realise how great wow pvp is, with ladders, many unique game modes, and it shouldn’t have done it in the first place, that’s just bad reverse marketing):

1. Ladder system – At the moment, there is absolutelly nothing keeping players in pvp. No achievements, monthly can be done in 3-4 hours, daily in 20 min max, Anet by introducing 2 team paid tournaments took away the point in leveling ranks – since now you can obtain nice looking gear from tourneys – no need to be rank 40 or higher atm. Ranking up to get the better looking gear was the only incentive pvp had, and Anet thrashed that, by introducing easy Paid tournament gear farm in 2 team pvp tourneys. There is a matchmaking system, but what is the point of it? Honestly, why should i care if i get in team with others on the same pvp skill, when i don’t know what my skill is to begin with? I got 0 motivation of playing pvp, since every victory gives me nothing more than 200 glory( which is useless), and a paid tourney gear ( which every player had farmed for quite some time now = useless too). Adding to that, that tourneys are on the same map over and over again = Playing becomes frustrating, and people get bored very, very quickly.

2.Reward system – Greatly broken. Until 2- team pvp tourneys, there was some point in ranking up, since getting Tiger rank allowed for some cool looking items, now everyone is running with Paid gear, and ranking up lost its sense. Farming glory is pointless, the only reason to do it is to buy kits to get rid of the junk from tournament reward boxes, nothing more. There is absolutely no motivation now to rank up or farm gear since it can be obtained easily from team vs team tourneys.

3. Game modes – That’s one funny thing. Anet stated, that they don’t see future for any new standalone modes, and they rather experiment in bringing new secondary mechanics. That made releasing new map pointless. Just another conquest map, for pvp players it;s nothing new, Hotjoin has already given up on capturing points, the whole purpose of the game is to cap 1 point, and then there’s a battle in the orb area to take it and get to that point. Raven point is lost and forgotten, rarely even being captured. pure CTf.
For some time after the release, players couldnt revive after dying. That created another mode, which can be described as " King of the hill’. I participated in few games, and have to say, that it was more fun, than i had in all past conquest matches. Last man standing in the team wins the game, that created new strategy, like kiting enemies while other teamates ress the dead ones, smart fighting. Felt almost like a real pvp arena.
Conquest was fun after the release, now it’s just annoying. People are trying to develop new modes themselves ( The map with water – i saw people writing on chat to leave points and go fight underwater – underwater deathmatch – and it was more fun than capturing only)

4. Variety – playing one map for the whole time is boring. Boring as kitten. A simple change, that each map would be generated randomly would change things up. But no, we have to play that one over and over again. After the update playing 3 map free tournaments is pointless, since you get 400 glory( if anyone still cares about it) for winning the whole thing, while winning each map on 1 map free earns u 200( meaning if u win 3 matches, you get 600).

5. Stating in simple matter, what the game has right now:

- No reason for playing pvp, rather than doing monthly and leaving.
- No reason for farming anything, glory is useless, there is no ladder, and the tournament rewards compensate for ranking up, no reason to do that anymore
- No rewards for winning games – glory – useless, chests – everyone is full of paid gear atm, only recycling junk atm
- No variety – same map over and over again, same mode over and over again,

Player base is getting smaller and smaller, as pvp isn’t any fun atm. It’s fun for beginners, but it gets boring very, very quickly. Thank god for pve mode, otherwise Guild wars 2 ( by the way, game is called guild wars, yet it has nothing to do with guild wars – what’s up with that? ) would die with it’s release.

Just stating my 2 cents, going back to WoW now for some real pvp action, will probably come back in march to see the update notes, but after january and february patches probably wont be expecting anything, as the pvp in this game goes nowhere.

Personally: yay, yet another conquest map, but with ctf elements this time …

Why couldn’t they just remove the conquest points, or make 2 instead of three ( they would be considered bases) and make it just a normal ctf?

I’m sick and tired of conquest. 5 maps already on 1 same mode, such a shame they wont allow players to create modes, they would redo this map in an instant.

I appreciate what anet is trying to do, but honestly, this game needs 2 things when it comes to pvp: Balance and Diversity. I hear they are working on balance ( even though they were saying that last time, yet bunker eles still destroying tourneys, and thieves still overrun hotjoin), so something just a little bit diverse would be awesome.

Well, let’s look about it that way: conquest + ctf is still better than conquest alone.

To the main question: Depends where you’d like to use them.

In pve – Sure, they are alot of fun, place them behind you, aggro mobs, and you get an extra burst, very easy to farm, and sometimes serve as a little tank.

In pvp – Don’t even try it. Engineer with turret build is useless, because you pop your turrets, and they get blown away by Aoe in about 2 seconds, and you are left with 3 20-60 sec cooldown slots. Not mentioning they got no Ai and often block themselves if you position them badly.

I saw a turret engineer once, easiest 1vs1 in the game, he popped turrets, i used 3 bombs, and autoattacked him till he died.

Strongest AOE ever

it might be, but depends where you’ll use it. In pve – no denying, it’s very strong, when fighting a boss you might get some really high bursts.

In pvp / WvW – you would get stomped hardcore with that build. No survivability what so ever, landing granades on a moving target with such a low travel speed – hit rate ~30-45%, , and bombing requires you to go melee (gl with that with no surviv).
Elixir-infused -bombs – don’t go for that trait, because it sucks, in pvp nobody uses inventions trait line, because it’s pretty much useless. Also i dont like your runes / sigils. Not a viable pvp build, you’d be one shotted mostly.

Played an engineer so i can feel your pain, and i support your cause 100%!

Even though engineer is pretty weak atm, i never had problems dealing with warriors tbh, and that makes it true about their profession. high damage output, but poor survivability makes warriors lucky shooters, that only get to kill something if they focus down the target, before he even realises.

Maybe that was the purpose for Anet when building a warr, but i agree, they do need some love.

Im not saying engineer is doomed either i’m simply stating that he’s in a state, when a player could choose between him, and any other class when it comes to specific role, he would be put aside every single time.

Engineers are fun, there is no denying that, but there are two things when it comes to playing with them: 1 – they require an insane amount of skill (which personally i think is a good thing, having a profession that requires you to really get into it, to do something), 2 – you have to work with lower stat output – because all proffs( or almost all, i agree with you, warriors are way to easy to kill atm) can provide certain services better, which makes it even harder and more discouraging to play engi in longer terms.

The fact im hating the most, is that i really hate rifles on engineer, so i’m forced to a pistol build, and going by that, a condition build(seriously, i was hoping for some serious sniping with engi, instead i got that), we could use another weapon in our arsenal, because atm i think we are the only ones with only 3 choices.

And yes, having only 1 elite skill hurts too.

Agree with your statements here, but understand, there needs to be some whining on the forums, so Anet could force themselves to read them, and maybe try improving the gameplay a little bit, instead of blindly nerfing a class, that’s already pretty weak in comparison to others to begin with. And i feel obligated to enforce that community, because i’d really like to see some comps in tournaments, that require an engineer, instead of only ele bunkers/ instagib thieves / mesmers/necros.

Did I mention I’m rank 42 in pvp and 90 per cent of that has come as engi , bet ye xplosiv, I agree with what u just said however I don’t think it’s as bad as every class doing things better . As with my condition build I don’t think any other class can rack up that many conditions so quickly and easily . Add a necro into the mix and u have a great advantage in team fights

Then you’re wrong my friend a mediocre necro has no problems with gaining 12+ stacks of bleed on you, while you can only achieve that with condition granades when someone stays still, or you get really lucky and hit with all your attacks in combat(with other builds it’s very hard to see more then 8 ). Generally necro can pop out conditions very, very fast, alot faster then you, and it doesnt require for him to think, move, or strategically position himself as much as it requires you to do so.

I’m not saying you can’t do good with you condition build, i’m simply saying, that other professions can do it alot better and easier.

I am ( or i was) an engineer player ( my first choice when buying the game, cause of the turrets and flamethrower —> guess what a disappointment that was when i found out how weak/useless they are in pvp), and if they would tweak him in any patch instead of nerfing(past patches), or fixing insignificant stuff( the current patch), i would come back in an instant.

Also the most frustrating thing and a perfect example here to proove my point —> other profession’s elite skills for pvp – 2-3, engineer’s -1 (have you seen some1 using elixir x or mortar, ever?)

The answer to the question “why there are less and less engineers playing in pvp” is simple:

Because every role that they can build to be, other classes do better(which makes them underpowered). If you want a bunker -> go ele, a roamer -> go thief, -> node defender -> mesmer, necro, any other role -> necro / mesmer / thief/ele/guardian. I agree playing engineer is fun, but at some point you realise, that if you choose a specific path to your gameplay, why play engineer, when other professions are better at it?

If you roll an engineer, you generally play it till about rank 15-20, and then you switch. There are some hardcore engineers ( who play and hope they will get buffed on the next patch – prooven wrong again and again), but with every coming patch they will eventually switch.

And then, there’s Teldo – whom i call the last standing bastion of engineer motivational gameplay —> He’s gotten so good with engineer, that on his streams it looks as it’s quite easy to play the profession, when in reality it takes an unbelieveable amount of skill. People watching him, makes them somewhat go back to play the engi, but eventually they go back to other professions. Teldo should be considered an example, that everything is playable, no matter how underpowered it is -> but why should we play an underpowered proff, when there are others that do alot better?

Edit: I swapped to thief some time ago, i would go back to my engi( as it was my first love), but i refuse to do so, until they fix the hillariously low damage on flamethrower.

Tested some, so far:

1. I think they somewhat fixed FT’s hitting – now i get more hits from obstructed areas – dunno if that’s true, need confirmations
2. The “buff” on kit damage is one big BS. Tried it with every variation with rifle and pistol, no damage change whatsoever. In my opinion, they put it just to have something in the patch notes.
3. Turrets – needs further testing, but so far i dont see the difference —> still useless, still get blown away in a sec with aoe, still no Ai ->> still unavailable for pvp.

to conclude – this patch did NOTHING to engineers. These are my thoughts, and it all needs testing, but overall the changes are small/not visible/not worth mentioning.

The patch has it’s upsides and downsides for me. Upside – engineer finally feel somewhat content, they got some buffs, and may gotten viable now in pvp ( still waiting for gw3 to finish download – 700mb and 20% lol ), as it appears turret builds may be viable now( dunno yet, still need testing), on the downside, eles got buffed instead of nerfed ==> biggest “lol” of this patch, enjoy bunker teams pwning in tournaments with hopes for the next patch.

The answer is simple → because turrets are only for pve, and they only serve as aggro atractors with a little bit of damage, nothing more.

Arnanet didnt bother doing anything , only implemented them. In pvp if you use a turret build outside hotjoin, you will get tossed out of every tournament party.

final verdict: Dont bother bothering, turret builds arent viable, and it doesnt look like they will be for quite some time. Pick your rifle instead and go power build.

It just meant you cherry picked the traits out of each tree with 10 or 20 points in every line. It wasn’t that great. Consider now with most of the traits being as bad as they are with only a couple of good ones how quickly everyone would be the same build even more then they already are.

What I’d really like in general, is just a major cleaning up of all the bad stuff in every profession. The skills that aren’t often even worth a key press and the traits no experienced player would ever take. Each profession is littered with these noob traps that sounds good on paper to someone new to the game, but are absolute garbage.

I’ve seen you defending eles thruought the topic, i can bet my money on the fact, that it’s your main.

Also a fact – you are not realistic. You have your profession, and you like how it is right now, and even though it spoils the fun for others, you will defend it to your dying breath.

Another fact – eles do need nerfing. not to the damage ( i can handle eles damage, never been an issue), but to the insane healing/cds they got. At this moment all competitive pvp teams are running teams with 2 eles in comp, bunking their way to victory. It’s hard to kill an ele bunker with 2vs1, even with 3vs1 it takes insanely long time, just for the simple fact, that they can lightning rush themselves to full health in no time.

Ele bunkers and instagib thieves are the most pressing problems atm, and they need to be dealt with in order for pvp to be at the point of being just a little bit fun. And your childish raging about and defending that profession are just in the way.

And as for the topic’s main theme;

1. Giving engineers some love – all my friends quit playing that class, saying that it does very poorly in pvp due to lack of everything → meaning other classes can do it too, but alot better, i would love to see some diversity in pvp, not only seeing necros /eles/mesmers/thieves(and occasionally a guardian bunker)
2. Adding some fun to pvp rewards – more ways to spend your glory
3. Adding a new game mode (althou it’s not gonna happen for sure), since conquest was made to make guild wars competitive (which it still isn’t, due to profession unbalance), but it gets boring overtime.

I really like cloaking device. the stealth duration is generally greater than the immobilize allowing you to move around and reposition yourself; due to delays in rendering, you will appear slightly later on your opponents screen as well. Lastly, not all skills can be swung at empty spaces, a great deal of them require targeting.

Cloacking device is very much useless in pvp, since immobilize happens mostly during active battles, meaning you get immobilized —> in the heat you use an offensive ability ( or evn autoattack) —> stealth goes down immidiatelly. This trait is only usefull when you’re running from someone, and they try to snare you.

I didn’t read the whole topic ( only the most important posts), but i agree with the general concept. If you want to play pvp, absolutelly do not roll an engineer, there are classes that are better with that engineer can do. If you want to go conditions, go necro, if pure damage, go thief, deception and very hard to kill → mesmer, bunker —> ele( or guardian), engineer is the very low version of all these other professions, he can do it, he just can’t do it that efficiently.

Atm the only viable build for pvp seems to be 100nades, but today’s patch notes will clearly take care of that, and there will be no more reasons to play engi in pvp.

I got to rank 30 with my engineer, got sick of it, rerolled thief, and im vey much satisfied, because thief can do so much better.

My vote goes for the 100nades . They made condition builds useless ( very weak in comparison to other classes), so it’s the only one left in competitive pvp. And we all know they are planning to remove that class completely from pvp, so 100nades is the only build that stands in their way.

Voting 10$, granade damage will get at least 20% down in the patch notes.

Devs can’t nerf this build, because if they would, they would have to delete engineer from pvp overall.

This is (besides the static discharge variation), one of the very few ( if not the only one), viable builds for tournament play, 90% of the engineers use it atm, give engineer the last grip to viability in pvp. Without it, everyone, who’s left playing engineer would reroll.

Condition builds suck hardcore atm ( average engineer bleed – 112, average necro bleed – 132, average engineer stacks – 7-8, average necro stacks 11-13), so it feels like the only choice atm.

Teldo is playing this, and ever since he started experimenting, most of the other players just switched to this build.

People just see how hard it is to kill a bunker dd ele due to RTL + healing and cry for nerfs. What they dont want to realize is that those bunker builds deal mediocre damage.

I just love people like you, who play ele and defend their class ^ without any proper input in actual improovement.

Ele bunkers need a nerf because:

1. They can witstand 2vs1 easily, 3vs 1 with problems, meaning in pvp based on conquest enemies will need half of their resource team to take down 1 elementalist ( who thanks to knockbacks can easily take the points, and hold it)
2. At the current state, 2 ele bunkers are a part of 80-90% of the premade teams, meaning 2 safe kiting points and lots of time to switch for the rest
3. bunker ele does medium damage, but it’s not the damage here, it’s the part that he can fight 2vs1 so easily( and even manage to kill 1 in the process) for so long, it makes playing pvp in conquest mode no fun at all.

Thats why they need the nerfs. But, as always, ele players will cry, that ele doesnt need nerfs ( because they play 1, and they don’t want any skill involved in their gameplay, solely balancing advantage).

The facts are, that Instagib thieves and ele bunkers are the most gameruining unbalances atm, and they need to be dealt with in order to make pvp viable.

New pvp meta game - one unbreakable setup.

Let’s sit for a minute and dispute about the current tournament meta game. Yesterday, i’ve seen a chain of round composed of 1 setup: 2 ele bunkers, 1 mesmer ( for portal), 1 guardian bunker, 1 random dps ( as long as it’s not engi cause of the low overall dmg), and honestly, that setup is unbreakable. Imagina a situation – Mesmer guarding 1 point( with possible portal for others), 1 ele bunker guarding the second one(along with the dps), 1 ele bunker and 1 guardian bunker at the point that’s the most occupied. Result? You can’t really do anything, since 2 bunkers will just kite you and push you back( taking the point eventually), and if u decide to go any other point, they just tele using the mesmers portal.

Atm in my personal opinion there are 2 things( besides unbalanced classes), that are ruining the pvp:
1. Mesmer’s portal – honestly, if you get a mesmer in your team, not only he can burst you down in a second, if he’s bad, he can just call his friends to shred you,
2. Too many bunkers – atm there is really no point running anything else, since pvp is only based on conquest, if you got f.e 5 bunkers, you are victorious, cause you can knockback enemies and capture points so easily, and even if they would try to recapture, if enemies got guardian or ele bunkers( with skill) there’s no chance you will take them down, unless you are at least 3vs1.

I’m so frustrated about this game atm, even tho pve is quite amazing, pvp mode feels like it’s something just added, but not developed. Tournaments are dominated by bunkers( ele and guardian especially), hotjoin pvp is dominated by thieves and mesmers who can burst you down in 1 sec(literally), which makes it not fun for anyone that decides to play anything but a bunker build.

Edit: 1 more fun thing i noticed: Happened to me few times now – with random tournament setups, people decide to go afk( telling that on chat) cause of the 4vs5, when they spot an engineer in the team – are they really that underpowered? true that i rarely see an engineer in pvp, but didn’t think they suck that much as a profession to be the reason to go afk instantly < lol>

Running with 5 guardian bunkers sure, you would end up with little dmg, but running 5 ele bunkers would be sufficient enough to cap ( cause of the knockbacks) and hold, even possibly killing ( i’ve seen many times over the week eles running 2vs1 and managing to even kill 1 before teamates came and finished the other 1).

Instagib thieves are a problem i admit, but it’s not something you cannot manage. Bunkers are a more pressing concern atm.

I asked a friend today why he stopped playing hi engineer after reaching rank 30, and rerolled mesmer, and he replied: “because he only had 1 viable tournament dps build – 100nades, and i hate rifles – and everything else is either bugged or underpowered – condition build is the weakest of all – can’t apply more then 7-8 stacks of bleed, while f.e necros have np inflicting 12 or more, and bunker build isn’t as good as ele’s or guardians. Wanted to play a turret build when i first picked engineer, but in pvp i would only be laught at, cause turrets are useless – shredded by aoe in 1 sec, 0 ai, for example when fighting necro or ranger turret rarely focuses on the enemy, and more on the minions. Overall, combined with massive bugs, it’s the most dissapointing profession to play pvp with atm. If they fix him, i’ll prolly come back, if not, i’d stick with mesmer, ton of damage, and much more utility.”

So i guess i somewhat get his point, and understand why so few people actually play engi in pvp.

Imagina a situation – Mesmer guarding 1 point( with possible portal for others), 1 ele bunker guarding the second one(along with the dps), 1 ele bunker and 1 guardian bunker at the point that’s the most occupied. Result? You can’t really do anything, since 2 bunkers will just kite you and push you back( taking the point eventually), and if u decide to go any other point, they just tele using the mesmers portal.

Atm in my personal opinion there are 2 things( besides unbalanced classes), that are ruining the pvp:
1. Mesmer’s portal – honestly, if you get a mesmer in your team, not only he can burst you down in a second, if he’s bad, he can just call his friends to shred you,
2. Too many bunkers – atm there is really no point running anything else, since pvp is only based on conquest, if you got f.e 5 bunkers, you are victorious, cause you can knockback enemies and capture points so easily, and even if they would try to recapture, if enemies got guardian or ele bunkers( with skill) there’s no chance you will take them down, unless you are at least 3vs1.

I’m so frustrated about this game atm, even tho pve is quite amazing, pvp mode feels like it’s something just added, but not developed. Tournaments are dominated by bunkers( ele and guardian especially), hotjoin pvp is dominated by thieves and mesmers who can burst you down in 1 sec(literally), which makes it not fun for anyone that decides to play anything but a bunker build.

Edit: 1 more fun thing i noticed: Happened to me few times now – with random tournament setups, people decide to go afk( telling that on chat) cause of the 4vs5, when they spot an engineer in the team – are they really that underpowered? true that i rarely see an engineer in pvp, but didn’t think they suck that much as a profession to be the reason to go afk instantly < lol>

Can we expect bug fixes for the engineer on January 28th?

God only knows but I would love a response too.

I’m hoping we won’t have the history we’ve had so far with this class.

  1. someone fixes something on the class
  2. it accidently works and does decent damage
  3. they tested it on a dummy that stands still and doesn’t dodge
  4. they nerf all kits because of it to “balance” pvp
  5. they get the coding wrong and it further break pve
  6. they release the patch, giving us some reason why the nerf is there, meanwhile 80% of the engineering players must spend enormous amounts of gold to completely respec because the 1 spec that was working is now gone.

That’s been my experience with their testing department handling this class.

Honestly, could not put it in better words. Perfect answer.

Another one of my pvp friends rerolled to a mesmer today [*], i wonder how much longer will the persistent pvp engineers stay, since lately everyone with common sense is rerolling ^

1 conclusion from the twitch stream – do not expect any changes for the engineer in the nearest future, they are more concerned about other things.

Engineer is a class that’s suffering the most in pvp atm, it’s gotten to the point, when people from higher ranks see 2 engineers in their team in random tournament queues, they instanly go afk saying we have no chance of winning ( happened to me 4 times already), every day fewer players play the class in pvp, hopefully, when the number drops to the point of no return, the devs will finally realise, how much did they miss about this god forsaken profession.

Somebody said to me once(a guild mate): Engineers can be described in 3 simple points( when it comes to pvp)
1. worst damage output – condition builds can’t get as many stacks of bleeds as other classes for example, rifle build is nothing when compared to burst of other professions
2. mostly bugged – the amount of bugs is insane
3. Worst skills of every profession – elite skills – only 1 viable in pvp, no choice what so ever, normal skills, 60% of the skills aren’t even used.

I lost my hope long time ago and rerolled mesmer, but i left my engineer and didn’t deleted him yet, means i probably have a little bit of hope in me, guess the future patch notes will show, whether it was for the right reasons.

Well, you are discouraged as engineer in pvp for good reason. Because there isn’t any good pvping when it comes to this class.

There are only 3 viable builds for engis in this mode:
1) Rifle glass canon / riffle control
2) Double pistol condition heavy / condition alchemist
3. Support / Support tank

And to point out, besides the holding support, those builds are weak when compared to other proffesions.

If any of those ain’t your style, just reroll. You will only see engineers playing heavy condition (90%) / Riffle cannons (10%) in hotjoin, and condition (40%) / support tank holder (60%) in tournaments. Besides medkit and bomb kit( but only with holder type build), other kits are useless: granade(nerfed to the point no1 uses it), elixir gun(sometimes usefull, but only situational),flamethrower (very, and i mean VERY low dmg, not worth changing from pistols, and the magma blast is bugged, misses 70% of the time), tool kit (shield is good for holder builds, other then that, never seen a melee engineer, lol), so only elixirs seem to work right for you, cause they remove boons(which is crucial), and provide u with some sustain.

Atm engi is the most underplyaed profesion(because the obvious weaknesess), so if you’d like to play some decent pvp, do the same thing other players(including me) did, reroll thief, warrior, or mesmer(and no, it’s not just rage talking, got to rank 25 with engi before i got sick of it and rerolled).

it is sad, yes, but that doesnt make it less true. Wouldnt be surprised if they removed engi soon, due to lack of players playing this proff.

Although i disagree with the survival point ( if you build a holder engineer, you can sustain for quite some time), i agree with everything else.

At the moment in pvp there are only 2 viable build for engi: duo pistol condition or pistol/shield/rifle bunker support. Tool kit is useless, since you have to be in melee range and if ur a dps you will go down quickly, so it’s better to shoot from pistols instead, Flamethrower – if an engi uses flamethrower for something other then knockback/wall of flame, then he’s a noob, because flamethrower does little to no damage compared to other skills(and taking into consideration that flame blast is bugged and misses every single time)

med kit – depends how you use it, but i totally agree with the condition bottle, if u get immobilized, you can just die standing and watching the bottle next to you.

Bomb kit seems the only one that’s viable and pretty usefull, Grenade kit will be removed in next patch probably(otherwise there wouldnt be so many nerfs to it)

Tool traits tier 3 – no reason to go there, nothing usefull
Inventions traits – overall, if u go for bunker bomb support, it’s good, otherwise it’s not even considerable, since there is no such thing as Turret build with so many pets that get aggroed instead of players, and Aoe dmg taking them all in 2 sec leaving you with 60 sec of worthless cooldown.

Edit: Oh and yes i forgot – why engineers are the only ones with 1 elite skill in pvp? Elixir x – wtf is this, worthless piece of crap, and mortar is just for laughter.

after the update there is no pvp with engineer. The only viable build might be the condition/alchemy build( doesnt do as much dmg as any other class, but it’s the closest), but if i got ArenaNet’s thinking right, they will nerf it too soon, cause they want to delete this class by making it unplayable in comparison to others.

And no, not a hate post, thats just a sad truth. Every single time when i join a tournament group and they see my profession, they’re saying “sorry, we’re looking for some real class like thief or warr”.

Wanna pvp, reroll thief.

they should post these patch notes on the screen before choosing class in character creation, there would be much less work on the class, because nobody would play it.

to whomever, who states that granades nerf for pvp was actually a buff – first you have to play pvp to be able to state something, your opinion in that regard is worthless otherwise. Players are not mobs, they move, dodge, jump, block, and Anet made this skill from hard to hit into not even worth hitting, cause of the smaller dmg.

Saw the engineer notes ==> Rerolled thief for pvp. Soon there will be only Warriors and thieves running around pvp, seems like it’s one of Anet’s goals.

Hey, as long as we can detonate Rocket turrets underwater( which we wont have time too, due to it’s pathetic health pool, the sharks or aoe will eat it before), we should be filled with joy.

This patch = one big nerf for the engineers. Only minor rune fixes, otherwise nerfs nerfs nerfs.

- flamethrower kit still underpowered
- elixir kit – anyone uses it for anything else but fun while in town?
- tool kit – never knew we had one of those, never seen it on anyone.
- turrets – Aoe > your turret build, in both pve and pvp.
- pvp nerfs – gooood, now i wont have to beat myself up for rolling thief or mesmer, engineer was weak but considerable, now he’s more weak and less considerable.
- elixir x / mortar / asura’s racials – besides the defense robot who can take 3 or 4 hits – never seen those being used, never did myself.

and many, many more coming. Overall patch notes rate: -2/10 ( for nerfing the the elixir R throw by 35 sec, now if i wouldnt reroll thief after seeing patch notes i would have to change a skill slot, even tho there’s nothing to choose from).

Pvp nerfs, some minor, non important fixes, nothing more.

1. Still only Crate in pvp and Defense robot in pve( im asura, dunno about others) are the only choices for elite skills, others are useless ( have you ever seen anyone using elixir x for something other then fun?)
2. condition / alq pistol build or rifle control – still only 2 viable builds in pvp, others are simply being laught at ( or not even considered picked for tournaments)
3. Turrets are pretty much useless overall, in both pve and pvp Aoe > your turret build.
4. kits still not viable. Flamethrower (even tho underpowered), granade, and maybe med kit are the only usable ones ( well, there are better picks for skills, but still) – never used tool kit, saw the damage on elixir gun, laught at it, switched, only using bomb kit for the big bomb, never actually turned it on for regular bombs.

makes me wanna laugh reading those notes, in my opinion besides fixing some runes and minor non important tweaks this feels like arena has no idea what to fix here. major problems still exist, and many skills are totally useless and never seen in-game ( say hi to elixir X or the powersuit for asura), but hey, as long as we can detonate rocket turrets underwater now, we should be happy.

I know this post might feel as a hate topic, but im really unsatisfied with the notes, and the pvp nerfs made me really really sad. Your opinions?

I’ve read thru all the pages and didn’t found a word about it( maybe i missed something, sorry i’f i multiplied something written before)

3 general problems / bugs with the engineer:

1. IF there’s a threat system during the fights, engineers generate far more aggro then other classes. I’ve passed thru all of the instances multiple times, every single fight whenever i start bursting, the mobs/boss start running towards me, ignoring teamates. Had to equip riffle for the control abilities, otherwise i wouldnt have survived long in battles.
2. Turrets generate most aggro in the game. Whenever you put them, they fire 2 shots at best, then the mob/ boss runs towards them, 1 shots them, and goes back to focusing you. They work great as split attention skills for a brief moment, but other then that, it’s a waste of skill slot. Only supply crate is usefull, cause it gives you 3 seconds of freedom, as the boss has to focus on 3 turrets.
3. Turrets / Asura golems – useless. Way too low hp to survive, any type of aoe skill > turrets / golems. Makes the turret build or any of the turret skills alone useless, as combined with point 2 or any type of Aoe you are standing here with cooldowns only. The defensive golem seems to be more beefy, but still, 4 attacks from the boss at most, and he’s dead.

+ 1 thing related to asura’s power suit, you enter it, but whenever you get damaged, it takes away your life( not treated like a vehicle) – i don’t know whether it’s a bug or not, but this, combined with pretty weak damage and animation speed from the attacks( i do more with autoattacks tbh) makes this skill useless( never seen a power suit used by engineer).

I agree with everyhing morgue had put in his thread, just wanted to point those things too. I would seriously consider reworking asura’s racial skills, as only the defensive golem seems to be usefull and can survive long enough to be visible in game.

My suggestion would be harsh, but still – make turrets / golems immune to Aoe damage, boost their health, and reduce the amount of aggro they generate. Otherwise, on higher levels you might as well remove those skills, and nobody would even notice.

Hello, i’d like to point out about a very serious thing that’s starting slowly to ruin the economy of this game, and it’s getting more serious with every passing day. On my server ( Baruch bay) i’ve noticed an increased amount of bots walking around, to the point, that early in the morning ( 9am or so) the map is filled with them in about 70-80%. I’ve noticed 2 kinds of bots so far:
1. Leveling bots – 1 bot fully equipped + 10 with lower lvls naked, just following and autoattacking – i don’t really care for those rly, since if it’s for future players who just dont wanna levelup, and will play only the endgame – the more the merier.
2. Farming bots – now this is serious – 20+ bots walking aroung ( random names, walking around looking like 20 players merged into 1), farming everything they encounter ( if it’s a mob, they kill it, if its a vein, they all take it) – no wonder there are soo many mats in the auction house and the items are so cheap.

the second type slowly sucks the pleasure out of gaining gold by farm, and soon will make it very unatractive.

+ it’s very frustrating when you walk around the game filled with Ai, makes it almost a single player game in the mornings.

as an attachment – 1 of the many, many examples i’ve got. Im making screens every time i see a group like that, i got like 20 + alrdy, and that’s only from the past week.

hope some1 will take interest in that.
