this goes into the discussion i had with a guardian on our private forums recently. he’s a zerker running around with 20k health, and none of us could figure out how he got the numbers he quoted until he confirmed that all his laurels went into ascended trinkets and celestial ascended greatsword.

He’s got a difference of almost 4k HP compared to us, 20k with only food buffs to our 16-17. And his crit chance is higher thn anyone running exotics.

thats not 4 percent thats 3 to 4 thousand HP. thats an extra 1-4 hits that he can take before he’s down. Thats a BIG deal outside of the farming zerg.

And people still saying its not going to be a big increase when armor hits the scene. I say thats already bull kitten and theres plenty of proof out there already.

If he’s running zerker gear, it doesn’t matter if he’s using ascended or not, You don’t get extra vitality from exotic zerker vs ascended zerker.

Now he could be using some celestial gear, that’s perfectly possible.. and will increase his HP, which you could do also, But it won’t make up for 4k you’re talking about.

The trinkets were’t zerker, nor the GS ans mentioned…

I believe the guardian in question when he said he has 20k health. He had no reason to lie about his build, armor or anything else. i know the best we could do to duplicate without ascended gears was almost 17k. Almost.

The difference between Celestial Ascended and Exotic ascended is nothing, and by that i mean i could buy it right now, and it would increase nothing worthwhile in my build.

Most likely, the way he was getting the extra HP was Defense against guards, which would account for 2500 hp.

But the the difference between Ascended and Exotic will not ever be close to 3k or 4k hp with zerker/celestial type sets.

They held their own against you during the day, then at night, you 695 them when no one was on.

Clearly you pulled off an impressive 1v2 against doors.

You are persistent! SBI had a lot of doors to knock at too had you cared to come press EBay. We have no night coverage guilds… none whatsoever. In fact, your greatest gains against EBay in previous matches were also against doors. BP also had a huge morning force that we had no coverage for… golum rushing our home BL each day before we were awake. PvD was a factor for them too.

There’s one major uptick on reset night when we did hit full map domination – on a reset night that’s impressive against anyone, I don’t care who you are. From then on out the score stays pretty manageable all the way until Wednesday afternoon when we broke the match wide open – not while they were sleeping, but through the afternoon and into the evening. We used quick moving strikes like this to keep their ‘one army’ tactic at bay, not ever letting them get into a position to respond or to go on offense and that finally demoralized the alliance and took the win.

This is false. A server (us) has successfully overcome a direct full week long 2v1. Coverage and numbers played a part in the victory, sure, but also played a part for the opposing forces who lost too. Nonetheless, you said specifically that no one ever could do this, and you are wrong. So man up and admit defeat on the point. Extra points for doing it without qualifiers.

Yes that is the matchup thread I am referring to. But it appears that you have proved me wrong on one detail. The week number is not what I remember… You have to fast forward to about page 10 to get to it (the thread you linked is a multi-week thread that we started to carry). So, you will have to forgive my old brain for some sequence being out of order… We faced the same servers for 3 months and some things blur together.

To reiterate though, it was from get-go. Not an alliance made after a lead was accumulated… the two servers carved our home BL in half on reset night and then again Saturday and Sunday. The entire week only roamers and randoms from the two servers attacked eachother, and AR allowed itself to be leached for points in some areas by BP keeping the match close for as long as possible.

The week is a vivid memory for many of us. As I said, it was a week of growth in both tactics and communication, and in numbers and coverage. It was fun times man. And you weren’t there… so as much as you think you know everything about every match, you are going to have to face the fact that you are wrong.

YB really doesn’t benefit either way. If Ebay is focusing you it is to lock 4th place not because they are allied with YB. We are here to win no matter what. Who honestly cares about threats like this. We’ve fought plenty of servers much stronger then we were who went absolutely crazy that we never rolled over and died, or paid them the deference their l33t skillz (high population) deserved. Yaks is no exception. What are you going to do? Attack our borderlands? :P Also, what others have said. This outcome does not matter, our placement in league is decided 100%. We just don’t like the idea of Ehmry ending up at the same rank as us by riding Yaks Bends coattails. Though to be fair, I think it speaks more to Ehmry that they have to do this then to anything else. If they want to be Yak’s minion server, I say let them. Not everyone is meant to be Alpha in life after all.

That escalation was regrettable and avoidable. One of our people tried to talk & de-escalate it (link). I do not condemn the purported YB people who retaliated. I would also note that our thread-visitor from SBI never condemned his server-mates who initiated the griefing.

If our people are initiating this behavior, please let us know asap. I’m confident that YB’s WvW regulars do not support first-use of such tactics.

I do not support unilateral disarmament. It is unfortunate that SBI behaved in such a way as to provoke retaliation. I would prefer if SBI had responded to requests for a less-messy resolution to that affair.

Most likely it wasn’t someone from either server at the start griefing, I mean the guys from Bags were griefing us…and griefing you.. so you just assumed it was us, then sent people over from your server to do it also.

It never occurred to you that it might be someone from FA? If my server did actually start it then you should do what faux says, and send their names in…saying “Well the other side cheated so i’m going to cheat” doesn’t fix the problem.. it just fills the room with more cheaters.

That’s nice that you think you know everything about every match that’s ever been played… but you are very wrong on this point. Week 16, Ehmry Bay vs the Borlis Rock Union.

Anvil Rock and Borlis Pass formed an alliance pre-reset and carried it out for the entirety of the week – but were still defeated by the ‘evil empire’, Ehmry Bay – who won by a larger margin of victory than it had in previous matches when facing the same two servers fighting without an alliance. In weeks before the matchup we had faced each other already a few times, and if you look at the scores, they were much closer until the alliance forced us to up our game.

What was magic about it from our perspective is that when the two other servers came out the gate like rabid dogs and attacked us with everything they had, our WvW community responded favorably. We actually grew in number, our coverage improved over that week to respond to the new threat and our commanders made leaps and bounds in cross guild and cross map coordination. In the space of about 36-48 hours we made improvements that we had not been able to achieve in months before that.

EBay is a fairly different server now than it was then… maybe we could handle a double team from lower ranked servers, maybe we couldn’t. Who knows. I’m sure we will find out soon enough. But regardless, you guys aren’t the first server to face this situation. SBI’s collective reaction to it differed to ours quite significantly though, and that’s what I find the most interesting.

Its more for public shaming, but do what Faux suggested as well, if you see cheaters, don’t coddle them.. report them and send the evidence along.

Posting their names and IDs on the forums is a one-way ticket to an infraction. It’s probably best just to post them on your own private server forums, where you’re less likely to have action taken against you.

And don’t even start about the irony of the situation where a single account can supply troll all week long, but your post on the forums warning others about them gets modded and deleted within half an hour. It gives me no end of frustration.

Torment is special/broken/different in that it has an on-crit ICD that does not interfere with other on-crit / on-swap sigils. JUST Torment sigil, and no others. So a year ago, when Torment Sigil wasn’t released, your case was true.

Earth/Fire doesn’t work, Earth/Battle doesn’t work, but Earth/Torment does work.

I went and tested it out, and it does work, I was surprised..

Just because you can’t do it doesn’t mean no one can. Recognition of the situation either galvanizes your servers forces and resolve or splinters it. When we realized that our easy victory had just become a grind it out in the mud grudge match, we went one route when it happened to us… and you clearly went the other.

You have no way of knowing who started it. There is no way to know. I don’t know. And that is the problem with your logic. For all we know, YB could have had a spy. And so someone “evened the score.”

And let me remind you, no one on YB waited for recompense. Your first reaction was to immediately send people over to SBI to do the same. You didn’t wait for something honorable, you jumped into the mud and started slinging. I wouldn;t be surprised if MORE people went to YB after seeing how you reacted.

What you support is a losing situation for everyone, and is not okay. None of the YB cheaters thought “They wasted X amount of siege and X amount of golems, so I will equally waste their supply and golems to an equal number for fairness.”

That logic is not enforceable, and it is why I say report and hope Anet reacts with a heavy banhammer. Condoning evening the score only makes things worse.

There was a 3-8 hour period between when it started(on YB) and when retaliation(that I am aware of) started. I made a post, my very first post on this forum, trying to let SBI know that they needed to do something quick, or the tit for tat was going to begin. And all that happened was people agreed that cheating is bad, no offer of reparations was forthcoming.

And yep cheating is bad. But not as bad as unanswered cheating leaving a match in an unbalanced state.

Also I fully support any action anet takes against the accounts who perpetrated these acts, on both sides.

My original comment about this was only saying the cheater motivated our server to play harder nothing related to people that may have done it back. I would not like someone on YB to start cheating. But if they did, I would understand perfectly fine if a SBI player came back and cheated the same way back to make it even.

Especially if our server did not make an effort in any way to punish the player or offer in-game compensation, by not attacking a keep for however long, or letting the other team have a free camp for however long.

Like normal you are acting like this person is the voice of Yaks Bend, he is not. I doubt most of our server thinks that it is okay with people getting a new account and griefing SBi after it happened to us. I hope the people who did it didn’t have anything to do with our main commanders, because if they did that would kitten me off tremendously.

Orbs can be returned, wasted upgrades cannot. And even if SBI were to give recompense for a griefers actions, less than an hour or so after I read the accusations of SBI griefing, we had YB griefers, multiple on every map, griefing.

So after that, you lost all consideration for any compensation, seeing as you didn’t wait for any honorable action, but stooped to a low road, and continue to defend YOUR griefers.

Right and fair is not the same thing.

If we lose 2000 supply and then you lose 2000 supply both through cheating, neither is right, but purely math wise, match score wise, it is fair, and neither gets an advantage.

Otherwise your position is no different than saying you are fine to win by cheating and expect no consequences if you have an unfair advantage. How in the world is that position sportsmanlike?

No, it didn’t benefit us. At best it might have canceled the damage. And I seriously doubt whoever went over there was as dedicated as the guy that sat in our keeps 24/7 with multiple name changes and characters.

And also no to being for something that benefits us in anyway, as if that was the case YB people would have been cheating from the outset, regardless of it being done to them first. But they didn’t so clearly they were only driven to do it out of last recourse.

In an ideal world, you’re right. But in the actual world, where our keeps had 0 supply, and no one wanted to build any golems, since they were all being walked off cliffs, the person in your screen shots, was simply balancing things out again. You had a huge advantage until it was done back to you.

If you wanted to avoid tit for tat, you should have immediately offered reparations.
