Considering neither Anet nor SBI was able to stop it, you think its fair for one server to endlessly have their upgrades ruined and supply wasted, potentially costing a vast amount of PPT, if it is not countered in some way? SBI saboteurs persisted over many nights this week, including the first instance of blatant siege abuse. Just last night we had one who posted himself doing it. He was draining supply right there in front of us. The YB people who were there at that one few hour stint, on one night, as a response. But the forum QQ is strong with SBI (SBI has opened no fewer than 4 external threads about this 2v1 thing), so you hear about the YB guys more.

It just so happens TehFoe is in this guys guild.

We may have been able to accomplish it all without him, but he surely helped light a fire, and conversely, help to burn down his own team.

That rule appears to apply to structured PvP. If they’d meant WvW, they’d have said WvW.

Considering Anet broke that rule in their own TPvP tournament..I don’t think you have anything to worry about ;o)

The key factor here is the league as it actually gives a definite planning horizon and generates a reason (and they have been detailed earlier in the thread) for 2 players to focus a third larger server.

To be honest I think WvW will be a better place if being the stacked server made you the likely target rather than an easy winner. That would be one way of discouraging people from stacking onto already heavily populated servers.

At the end of the day, if we had expected a balanced three-way scrap then peoples motivations would have been far less easy to predict.

Actually agree with this, PPT should be changed to reflect position…It should be far more rewarding to go after the first place server then the 2nd place server if you’re 3rd place…. Just like it should be more rewarding for 2nd place to go after first place and not just using 3rd place as free points.

I think it’d make matches more balanced in the end.

Wanted to thank all the participants in this matchup for making it one of the most entertaining of the entire season.

Also, planned or unplanned 2v1’s happen all the time (any FA players can remember the matches against CD/TC or BG/TC long time back) but overall if you find yourself on the side of one of those you have options:

Option #1: Whine and complain about how bad it is being hit from all sides. (not very helpful, makes you look weak, and overall bad for server morale. See example SBI in this thread)

Option #2: Praise the matchup for delivering you non stop fights and more loot bags than you could possibly have merchants for.

Option #3: Find a hardy objective that will undoubtly be a main target of the 2v1 and follow some guidelines posted by [HL] on FA and enjoy the lootbag service that the enemy alliance has given you.

and finally Option #4: Leave to PVE, or to the next bandwagon server so that you can feel superior again.

Main point being, no point is so much whining, do what you can, and if you have the right minded guilds on your server you will preserve regardless about how overwhelming the odds may be.

The people who stayed and are farming both us and Ebay at Lowlands atm should be praised IMO, compare that to Xsorus who instead of helping his server is on the forums the whole time complaining. Matches like these are the ones that show who is a fairweather or not, and by how many people stopped playing after the weekend SBi has a ton.

That was all yaks bend. What you are seeing from Wednesday through today is a direct result of the forum whining and a deep rooted desire to disgrace your server to the highest extent possible. That is why we are setting aside our pride for being able to say that we could have beat you bloody by 200k, but we’d rather ebay get ahead of you. you have yourself and your forum warrior friends to thank for that.

No need to be embarrassed Yaks, Ebay helped you all pull out a victory this week. I’m sure they’ll be expecting the help after reset with defeating BP. Never thought I’d feel bad for BP before.

Boottspurr gave a very good and cogent outline on the strategic considerations from EBs perspective, just like I described YBs point of view earlier today (and several pages above). I was not in the loop for those discussions but Boottspurr’s description appears completely believable, and there isn’t anything that I wouldn’t condone as a member of the YB community.

There wasn’t an alliance until the final day. Communication took place, common strategic interests were identified. People showed significant acumen and discipline in sticking to those strategies. The end result speaks for itself.

Of course it helped YB that EB didn’t cave in, but guarded their own territory with alacrity. Of course it helped that people recognized mutual interests and acted in a rational manner. This match was much more capricious than the final score suggests – even something as minor as YB getting the Bay side spawn point in SBIBL could have flipped the momentum at a critical moment.

And that is exactly why this is such a remarkable match.

Trust me, we were #1 chest thumpers NA before you guys came around. They want your spot in the ladder anyways. Why would they care what we do any further than getting your spot.

Common sense would have told you we would be focusing SBi, and I KNOW there are people on Ebay with common sense. Even if a good portion of SBi are lacking it.

Coming into the week, I believe one or two guilds on YB were talking to one on EB and brought up the idea of helping each other out. Nothing was decided, and come Reset night the idea was thrown out with the responsible party from YB coming to the Ehmry forum and letting them know there was going to be no formal pact – every server for themself – with the caviat that “We will be focusing SBI, however. You guys are savvy enough to work out how to make the most of that situation.” And that we did.

So during the week while YB focused SBI, Ehmry played their part – keeping our Home BL locked down as best we could and taking what we could get from SBI, while also taking just enough from YB without kitten ing them off. ONLY in the last couple of days has there been some serious collab between YB and EB, and ONLY because we’re soooo cloooose to 2nd. So why are they helping us get the 2nd rather than just being happy with their win? Because of next week.

I would love to see where we said “we belong in gold league” … Because I know for a fact SBI couldn’t last in gold league. I wouldn’t take a word for granted with any of SBIs pugs say. Of course we have bandwagons. Any winning server is going to get people that bandwagon to a winning team. I’m glad we lost, not happy that we lost because of 2v1ing, but none the less happy because we got the people who don’t give two kittens about WvW out. I can’t wait till all those bandwagon pugs/guilds move to YB or FA and you end up being the exact thing that you hate about SBI.

Having a nearly uncontested source of points for the week is even better and easier to handle than an ally. People seem to conveniently forget that while karma training and telling us we are boring opponents.

If SBI was as good as its vocal members seemed to think it was, a 2v1 against servers they had previously beaten separately by hundreds of thousands of points should not have been a problem. But the outcomes of the previous matches, and the SBI reactions to their roflstomp, conveniently ignored all of the elements of that victory.

Did you really just say having a server not putting up a fight all week is much better then having another server help you gang bang another server, to the point they were even knocking doors open and letting you walk in and take towers?

Your last matchup with Yaks Bend also featured IoJ, the lowest population server of Silver league and the one who well and truly got screwed by this whole ordeal that we called league play. It’s easy to claim how superior you are when you have a 3rd server in the mix that cannot defend itself against you, quite different when there’s not an easy target you can leach points from for every tick of the match.

WvWvW is NEVER 1v1. The 3rd server is ALWAYS a factor in the outcome.

So in other words, you lost because you didn’t have help from IoJ

No matter how often we say that there wasn’t any alliance you guys just go on with it. We actually help EBay now to get 2nd this week, yes, but that’s not an alliance. To all angry SBi, please keep in mind that YB has been ahead in this week’s match-up since it started. The only reason we have this alliance (which started yesterday) is to get Ebay in second place and move us up a tier. All in all, it’s mutually beneficial to both us and Ebay.

Remember we were within 10k of you Monday night till some people started draining our supply and killing our golems.

The next day we had no supply to defend against the 2v1 and thus you ended up with a bigger gap.

I played DAOC for years (Hib/Guin) and never saw blatant collusion like what is happening here. It is not good for the health of the game and I’m not sure why Arena net is allowing it.

Just now in EB BL, SW tower, ebay is on the door of the SBI tower, saluting and bowing to a yaks bend player 20 yards away. The door goes down and the EB and the YB player all go inside the tower together.

I can’t imagine that this is what Arena net had in mind when they introduced “competitive league play”.
