There is not one thing on the Warrior that is truly over the top, There is a bunch of little things when added together that is over the top.

Would the Skullcrack be overpowered if the Warrior had no Sustain?

Would the Sustain be overpowered if Warriors didn’t have High Damage with certain Combo’s or Mobility?

All these little changes completely made the Warrior overpowered, Which is kind of funny when right before they got all these changes, You had the Devs talking about how they were scared to buff the Necromancer and the Warrior because just a little bit could send them over the line… and sure enough…They did just that..They piled it on both classes and now we got this current setup.

Actually, if you watch the gw2pvptv stream, most streamers I have seen (Arken, OstrichEggs, Muffinz, phantaram) agree that the regen on warrior’s right now with the signet is just over-the-top. The problem with the current design is that it plays into the rock-paper-scissors class design where there are hard-counters and doesn’t lend itself to play-style counters. That is a problem for warr’s as it is for necros and old spirit rangers.

Sustain is only powerful on warriors right now because of the Sigil of Paralyzation bug (+1 full second stun duration). Because of this, warriors can chain stuns much more effectively than intended, and they take less damage than intended too, because a stunned opponent is not dealing damage. Fix the sigil, and it becomes very apparent that warrior sustain is balanced.

Same players talk like all warriors run Stun Lock build…
- What happens with all another warrior’s build if decrease sustain?
- What happens with another weapons if nerfed?
- What happens with this class if still lacking sustain?

Well lets see, How about we ask the Ranger.

People had no qualms about crapping on their builds every patch, even though multiple modes were hit.

by your means, some one got crap on so every one else should get crap on too? must be a lovely life you have there. if you really want to talk about it, warrior have been buttom tier for pvp for 6 months, and not even the best in pve, everyone say they are the best because all they do is cof1 farm and they are the best at cof1 when theres 4 of them. guardian can faceroll arah, fotm way better then warrior do, just saying. so by your means, every class should be atleast freekill tier for 6 months to begin with.

Rangers were bottom tier till I created BM Bunker, and did you really just whine about Warriors in PVE? Really?

Heh, been running a Spirit Build in World vs World with 69% boon duration, Perma Protection in combat ftw.

Still game is getting boring, and Power builds are still pretty fail on Rangers..

If you look at Spirit/Traps/BM Bunker, the one thing everyone notices is they’re all Conditions.. and that’s directly related to the fact that you have classes like Mesmer/Thief/Warrior who can instant kill you if you’re anything else.

They need to bring down some of the Burst Damage in this game if they want something besides 1 hit kills or Heavy Condition Bunker.

I’m debating getting the Traveler Runes for my BM set, I have a Speed Set but they’re not working though they said on the tracker, I’ll wait and see how they do first.

The Idea of being able to run SOTW/SoR/Lightning Reflex though makes me happy.

Man, BP really don’t like losing to SBI do they?
Blaming it on transfers? Grow up. All servers get transfers, look at the amount of transfers BP have gotten over the past months.
BP, you could have came back, or at least gave us a challenge with the numbers you are able to field, but you choose not to then complain on the forums.
And yes, Buffy, its so kittening obvious we are going to target BP this match up because you are the biggest threat to us, use some common sense instead of making yourself look like a kitten on the forums.

Other than that, good job this week SBI, DDLG are proud to be here.

I do not care if we lose. But the way sbi are acting is immature and childish. Last time it was sbi vs bp. Bp won fair and square cause you guys focused on sm too much. Now that you have gotten alot of guilds to transfer, your winning and think your high and mighty till you face maguuma and dragonbrand and lose badly. Then your transfers will leave ya. It is about guilds cause you guys were always terrible before this week. I am using common sense make sure you are cause what I said is true and people know it.

I hate to tell you, But matches in this game aren’t won by being fair and square…You won previous matchups entirely due to population…Now SBI is winning entirely due to population.

Thoughts on Spirit Build after Patch (WvW)

In general I tend to dive bomb into the zerg clash and pop their instants, They’ll go off, doing whatever they’re going to do, and then die and pop again.

Or you can sit in the back and just provide buffs.

I’m running a Shortbow and Axe/Horn Build though.

Make sure you grab the Cripple Talent for them as well, It might seem kittenty, but it’ll cover Conditions so they don’t get removed.

But you end up with a bloody 4 Second Immobilize every 20 seconds and a stupid amount of Weakness/Poison

Thoughts on Spirit Build after Patch (WvW)

Not really going to discuss SPvP, but I have been actually playing Spirit Build a bit more since the patch with zerging (though I’m sure traps work just as well) mainly cause I put Superior Rune of the Traveler on my Rabid Set. I actually find this setup isn’t that bad. with 25 stacks of corruption i’m sitting at around 1750 Condition Damage, and I can apply a buttload of bleeds just the same (with the added burning) Protection Wise, the bloody Spirit Procs 4 Seconds of Protection for me, so I’m surprised how long it stays up.

The only annoying thing about it is I can’t precast my pets before a fight, But I seeing how in World vs World Pets die almost insantly anyway the change isn’t to bad…I can now put them back up quicker then before.

SPvP I imagine they suck pretty badly, But World Vs World with the addition of Traveler Rune I find the setup works much better then before.

Fairly viable solo, Long as you don’t run into really amazing Skullcrack Warriors, but they’re just overpowered right now so can’t expect to take them easily.

Oh thought i’d add, The amount of Boon Duration with this setup makes the 25% Run Speed actually not that super great if you use offhand horn like I do.

I run around with 2 Minutes of Swiftness Most of the time, with the Run Speed Being there when I haven’t got it up.

SoR’s passive removes a condi from you and your pet that disappears. SoR’s active transfers all condis from allies within 600ish range of your pet to your pet. SoR’s active while traited does the same thing but also transfers all condis from allies within 600ish range from yourself to your pet as well.

I hate the fact we have to trait our signets in the first place just to make them equal to every class.

-All spirits can now be launched, knocked down, and knocked back.

This was a bug fix which now will allow more counter-play when fighting spirits.

-Storm Spirit, Frost Spirit, Sun Spirit, Stone Spirit, and Spirit of Nature will now begin their recharge when the spirit dies instead of when the spirit is summoned.

-Storm Spirit, Frost Spirit, Sun Spirit, and Stone Spirit: Recharge has been reduced from 60 seconds to 25 seconds.

-Spirit of Nature: Recharge has been reduced from 240 seconds to 180 seconds.

Previously you were able to pre-cast spirits before a fight so that when they would die you could instantly re-summon them. This made it feel like there was little to no counter play. Players could take the time to AOE them down simply to have to deal with another set of spirits. These changes were made so that there is a time window where the ranger will be without spirits once they die. Since the spirits now die after their duration, we had to reduce the recharge to compensate. In fights where they are dying often, the shorter recharge is a buff.

Solar Flare: Fixed a bug so this skill no longer applies a duplicate infinite duration blind.

This was a simple bug fix removing unintended functionality.

Just like Mesmer clones? They can keep up 3 clones constantly. You fight the entire time trying to single target the Mesmer down because it’s impossible to kill all the clones in time before they refresh some new ones. Not to mention they go in and out of stealth so you lose your target (tab target blows), so you have to try and click with your mouse. I’ll 1v1 people on my Mesmer literally only using the #1 and #2 on the staff and win 100% of the time.

Thief? Goes in and out of stealth and can leave a fight whenever he or she pleases. Trying to 1v1 a thief in spvp or wvw is useless because they literally CANNOT lose if they just run away.

Wtf does Ranger have? A kittened pet that will chase a person forever getting 1 or 2 hits in if you are lucky. Signets have stupid cooldowns and terrible passive effects. Spirits are dog kitten now. Traps are boring and horrible.

Its not that Signets have Stupid Cooldowns or Terrible Passive Effects, its that Signets only work on the Ranger if he invests 30 freakin points in the power line, they’re the only class in the game that has to invest that many points to be EQUAL to every other class in the game.

Search and Rescue Sucks

Ranger has some if not the most God Awful Skills in the game.

Most of them require to much investment in trait lines to be effective.

Traps/Spirits For example, and Signets just to get them to freakin Work on the Ranger.

Whats left is Cruddy Utilities (Muddy Terrain), Sharpening Stone, Lightning Reflex and Pet Shouts…

Pet Shouts being quite possibly some of the kittentiest kitten abilities in the game.

So I took my Ranger out in World vs World for a spin using Spirits (Wanted to try new Traveler rune with them)

Thing I instantly noticed in fights that stands out as a huge flaw (and is probably the same reason you don’t see Guardian Spirit Weapons either, Unlike Necro Minion Master) is the 1 and half second cast time….If you can’t put them up before the fight (because you don’t want them to die soon as you get to the fight thus wasting them) You take almost 5 seconds to cast all your abilities at the start of the fight…Necromancer minions of course has similar cast time but you can precast them, and Guardian Weapons are the same (thus why not used most likely, plus Guardian has better crap)

Doesn’t give speed buff to pet far as I can tell, but then again I tend to use Spiders now so probably not noticeable.

But yea, I wish I could try it out more with BM bunker but Speed Runes are bugged currently, when they fix them i’ll give a more accurate idea of how well it should do.

I’m liking the Traveler ones on my rabid set, as I can run Trap Build or Spirit Build with that setup and maintain speed

Something easily countered by power builds/consistent poison is a crutch huh? It totally has NOTHING to do with the fact that the current meta lacks any power based damage and as a result a Warrior who builds around condition removal basically nullify their means of doing damage.

The Warrior healing changes were actually pretty much perfect.

Healing Signet: Only shines with Soldiers gear vs Condi-heavy builds when paired with traits and utilities. It appropriately has a uselessly low active heal, which makes sense because it WOULD be OP if you could burst heal then passively regen when you don’t need it. You are basically discouraged from using it actively which once again means that power builds can overwhelm it.

Healing Surge: A good heal for more bursty builds who bring alone some condi removal. Also a nice side benefit of being able to gain max adren if needed at the cost of a lesser heal.

Mending: Lower healing but on a lower CD and is good for builds that have less condi removal but with Restorative Strength can remove up to 7 conditions. This also makes poison all but worthless against it because it’s removed before the heal takes place, something most Healing Surge builds lack.

There’s an appropriate heal for every build. Healing Signet is just the logical choice at the moment because of the condition meta. If it suddenly switched to power overnight you would see mostly Surge and Mending being used. I’m also getting tired of people factoring in Adrenal Health so frequently because with Mace, Hammer, or Bow based builds you’ll be using your adrenaline so often you’ll rarely be getting the maximum effect from it, especially since one of our better builds involves the use of BOTH a Bow and Hammer. Same with the condition based Banner Regen builds, you’re constantly using Combustive Shot and even Flurry in order to keep your foe in the field as long as possible so Adrenal Health is not that useful most of the time as well.

Why do you think Most classes in the game go Condition/Bunker builds?

Because if they go Power Builds, they get eaten alive by Warriors/Thieves/Mesmer’s

There will be no “Power Based” Meta coming back that makes Warriors Weak, because Warriors eat all the other Power Users Up in the first place, You were only weak to Conditions, To weak..but they over did it, and gave Warriors Far to much with all the changes..

Its not one little thing like Healing Signet, its the combination of things you received.

Not only do you get Boon Duration and Condition Duration, both fairly useful, even though the other stats are minor that you get…That 25% speed buff allows you to drop Signet of the Hunt in favor of either Signet of Renewel or Signet of Stone, which gives the toughness to your pet as well… Making it give more stats over all with that combination that you would get otherwise.

Of course its also good for Trap Ranger and Spirit Ranger as well, anything that has 3 slots basically used with abilities.

I’m going to use a DAOC analogy, cause it honestly perfectly explains how silly it is to balance Game modes with SPvP in mind without separating them.

There were two classes in DAOC, the Valkyrie and the Sorcerer. The Sorc was incredibly powerful and one of the abilities it has was MoC, which allowed it to cast and not be interrupted by being hit. This basically meant they could face tank anyone by MoCing then Lifetapping these people to death.

The Valkyrie was a Hybrid, and had an ability called Charge. This was a 15 Second Speed Buff that made them immune to ALL CC.

I played a Valkyrie, and 99% of the time, If I came across a Sorc I would win the fight. Because He would MoC, and I would Charge AWAY from him…. when the MoC was up, I came back and killed the Sorc.

If you took that same fight, and put it in SPvP, the Sorc would of won 99% of the time because I couldn’t leave an area without giving up a point. You would be nerfing the Sorc even though in every other game mode I flat out would win the fight.

That is why you cannot, I repeat not.. Have Balance in this game until you separate the game modes completely, What is overpowered in SPvP does not always translate over to WvW…

Here’s a thought Jon, quit balancing all game modes based on a dumbed down version of the game designed around standing on Points to win the game.

You don’t have to Separate PVE and WvW abilities, but you could save yourself and a lot of us a whole lot of trouble if you Separate Those two with SPvP, what is overpowered in SPvP and a pain for them, is a Joke in World vs World.

Do you see anyone crying about Spirit Rangers in World vs World? Nope….Because we don’t have to stand on a small point trying to hold it… We can just eat them alive and be done with it.

You play spvp and I play dungeon/wvw? not sure but I wager that explains the difference in the builds we see. The pve meta is much slower than the pvp meta. It probably lags behind by at least 3 months. I still don’t see many spirit rangers in dungeons. Most in pve think spirits are a joke when it’s been shown that they are not.

  • I suspect the reason there is still so many regen beastmaster rangers is because besides rabid, that was the first build that really caught on. Pve gear is expensive so naturally it takes people time to adapt. However, the lack of beserker/spirit rangers in dungeons—particularly FOTM—is surprising to me.

The reason people play BM Bunker is the same reason most classes that aren’t Mesmer/Thief/Warrior play Bunker setups…Because those 3 classes can INSTANTLY KILL YOU if you’re in anything but Bunker Build.

Thoughts on improving Guard

Right now our Pet Shout abilities are kind of lackluster, and I think Guard itself is pretty bad unless you invest 30 points in Nature’s Line (which really makes no sense why they’d put a talent like that in the non Pet line, but even then that just makes the ability more annoying then anything)

Anyway, I look at Guard and I want to improve its usage while at the same time, Not overpowering DPS setups with Pets, and making less used pets more useful.

My idea is this.

Make Guard cause the pet to absorb a certain amount of damage of all friendly players who stand in that area. Scale that absorb off the Vitality of the pet. This means pets like Bears for example would make use out of the ability the most, While it would be completely lackluster for Cats/Birds and other DPS pets.

In DAOC Daecollo, a Sorc was incredibly powerful class, It could pop MoC, and spam a Nuke on you that Lifetapped at the same time, Meaning you basically couldn’t kill them and they could kill you.

MoC had a fairly long cooldown, around 10 minutes.

Valkyries had an ability called Charge, It was a Speed Buff, CC Immune, and it lasted 15 seconds, and could be used every 60 seconds.

Valkyries Rolls up on Sorc, Sorc gets attacked and pops MoC to start lifetapping, Valkyrie Pops Charge and runs away, Comes back 20 seconds later..Kills Sorc now that MoC is down.

Same thing with Warriors, Oh Person Pops Stability and Stunbreaker? Let me charge away, come back a few seconds later, Hit person with 1 Skullcrack, 100B and if they’re anything less then full bunker, They’re Dead.

Though I hear there is talks of moving 100b to your actual Burst Skill instead… So that’d instantly remove that combo and allow you to keep Skullcrack.

If 100b was moved to burst, you would have to increase the autoattack of the Greatsword and make arcing slice give vulnerability, much like they did to Ranger’s Bow. Increasing the Autoattacks damage and giving the final Strike a Unique ability.

At the moment, the reason why auto attack damage is so low compared to other classes is because of hundred blades. Arcing Slice should do vulnerability.

If auto attack is to low they probably would increase it some, then again the only comparable person you have with greatsword is Guardian.

Stability being a counter for a 4 second Stun on a 7 to 10 second Cooldown is the most hilarious thing in this thread.

I believe the quote of

“Is this Math Republicans tell themselves to feel better?” fits aptly with this thread.

You can also use stunbreakers, blind, evade, dodge…

But with at least one stability and one stunbreak you got 16-20 seconds until he can hit you again with skull crack. And this his if you dont have passive defensive traits that ignore CC. After that you can dodge, evade, blind if you are not in the mood to keep distance while the warrior is with the mace.

Rofl, What you just said is the equivalent of people telling a Sorc to just MoC when fighting my Valkyrie in DAOC.
