Huttball is easily the best PvP map made in an MMO to date.
As for the guy talking about it being a premade playground cause its easy to roll a pug…
Dude…Any Map in SWTOR is easy to roll if its a premade vs a pug, including Guard the Door Voidstar.
PLEASE, what is that song…it’s too epic!

People complain about Spirit Rangers for 2 reasons.
A. They have to stand on a point, which means you can’t just avoid the Spirit Pets, notice you don’t see complaints about Spirit Rangers in World vs world, because they’re free kills by anyone with half a brain.
B. Change Shortbow Animation on its shots to be different on each one. Lot of times people say they’re spamming auto shot, but in reality, you use everyone of your abilities on your shortbow as a ranger….There is not one ability you don’t use. The thing is they mostly have the same animation and they all do virtually the same damage.
Everyone thinks Warriors are overpowered, Except Warriors.
Honestly everyone else is wrong, and all Warriors are just right.
grin
I went looking, nothing to be found
Except a Engineer from your guild.
Who I think people were complaining about dying to or something.
I need to get a duel in with you before this matchup is over :P
Where are you roaming at usually?
I am rather annoyed at the quality of the video though, Not sure if it was just an error on youtubes part but I don’t get some of the video distortion when i play it from my computer that I get when playing it on youtube.
I only had one fight of him recorded that i won, but he beat me more then i beat him so I didn’t include that in the video.
Made a new Ranger Video

Isaiah Cartwright is back with another PvE profession guide in tomorrow’s Guild Wars 2 developer livestream. He’s focusing on the ranger this time, offering a beginner’s guide to ranger setup and strategy. The livestream begins tomorrow, November 1st, at noon Pacific time on http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2
Do you have questions about the specifics of ranger PvE play for Isaiah? Post them here, and he’ll choose some to answer during tomorrow’s livestream. We’ll see you then!
Because with 60% crit rate on one of my setups, I thought that the pet could not crit..why? Because I only ever seen it crit once or twice after a crap ton of testing.
Pet crit rate is based on the pet’s precision, not the ranger’s. The cats and birds have higher precision, so will crit more often.
For the spirits, I’m guessing they have the default base 4% crit rate.
i know pet crit rate is based off the pet, i’m referring to the Spirit
Hmm, my Ranger has 3k more health and his healing is X3 as good as the healing signet on the warrior.
As a matter of fact, I was quite surprised, when I rolled the warrior how poor the healing signet was compared to my Ranger (my only other 80).
Ehh
TU is less HPS then Healing Signet
Natural Healing is either Equal or Less then Adrenal Healing (depends on how often you keep Adrenal Up)
Signet of the Wild with no healing power + TU is actually about the Equiv of Healing Signet.
So it takes a utility Slot + Heal Slot to equal Healing Signet
If you have an Nvidia card past the 600 series.. You now have access to Shadowplay in the new Nvidia Drivers, Basically your card has a built in recorder in it that’s not been used since now.
Shadowplay acts like Fraps, only its a 1000x better in that it doesn’t make you take a hit to your FPS (as someone who used fraps, ill be using shadowplay from now on)
It also gives you access to the Shadowplay feature, which is, while your playing the card is constantly saving upwards to 10 minutes in windows 7, and 20 in windows 8 of footage, if you get in an awesome fight, you can simply hit Alt-F10 and it’ll saved the last 10 minutes of whatever you was playing to video.
Jcbroe, The Spirits Crit Rate is based off its on, whatever that is…How do I know this?
Because with 60% crit rate on one of my setups, I thought that the pet could not crit..why? Because I only ever seen it crit once or twice after a crap ton of testing.
If I come across a 1v1, I watch, if I come across a 2v1 or 3v1 (unless i’m with the zerg) I tend to let them go without attacking..
I can tell you personally though, It is rare for that to happen to myself…People will go out of their way to zerg me down it seems.
Glass Rangers are kind of a waste….I have multiple setups that I can run on mine, but in general, if i’m going to run around with the zerg, i’m going to run a modified version of my TB build, basically forgoing TB all together (though its not bad in zerg fights either, as you can screw people) and simply doing the 30/10/30 build.
Fully stacked out I have 2100 Power/2000 Toughness/23k HP/slightly under 1k condition damage/30% base crit chance/68% crit damage.
Then its just simply a matter of rushing in with whatever zerg and spamming the bloody great sword 1 attack.
Easy Bags.
people are still surprised Coverage is what determines these matchups?
There is no better server in terms of “skill”
If a server wins, Its simply because they had more people more often.
this is 100% guaranteed….This game isn’t setup to gauge skill when it comes to collecting points, the PPT is not setup that way, Nor is the ranking system.
I’m liking the Dire Armor/Weapons + Apothecary Jewelry..
The extra 5k Health is useful.
The reality about healing signet is that many other classes have had this same effect for a long time, through Regeneration. All the engineers and elementalists who have 100% regeneration uptime are achieving the same sustain effect within their own class. Thieves have a version of this through their healing and condition removal from stealth. Same goes with guardians and their constant AoE healing.
The concept of healing signet’s sustain is nothing new. It’s new to warriors, but it has been done already. Why the shock and awe about warriors having this mechanic now is silly.
Stop your non-sense..you compare regeneration to the warrior healing signet?…Are you mad?
I should have like 2000 pts in healing power to match the passive healing of the signet.Healing signet = 400 HP for sec
Regeneration = 130 +0.125 * Healing Power.Same error that Arc made, you are comparing healing directly without taking other class mechanics into account. There are dozens of other things to consider such as: Evades, blinds, blocks, invuln, protection, stealth, clones, the list goes on. Warrior healing is the way it is because it lacks most of these other mechanics in any significant capacity.
You have multiple forms of Block and Invul’s as a Warrior.
Not to mention more HP and Armor then other classes.

Healing Signet is not comparable to those abilities.
Healing Signet would be comparable to the actual classes healing skill.
For example, Rangers Troll Ungent. That is what Healing Signet gets compared to
Adrenal Heal is comparable to the Ranger and Thieves Healing Trait (Natural Healing and the thief one) They’re comparable in HPS
Regen is available to all classes.. and works the same.
I’ve played with healing power, and without healing power..
It is noticeable.
Though Dire Armor might not be that bad with my Apothecary Jewelry.
went ahead and bought a set to give it a whirl
(edited by Xsorus.2507)
That’s my current Setup if anyone is curious.
Only thing really giving me trouble with now is Necromancers.
Did spirits get HP buff? I mean the 74%
Ehh
I just clicked that link and it was not what I made hehe one sec
K I edited it for the correct build

Lol, I was trolling some thieves really hard with TB build today.
whenever i’d run into a thief i’d swap out SoR for Sic’Em
Open with Shortbow stun soon as they went to stealth, then i’d TB them.. which is 5 seconds of daze, and then they’d be low enough and go to stealth i’d pop them with Sic’Em ..
Couple of them stayed completely unstealthed the entire fight because I kept screwing with them.
I’m not sure Sharpened Edges and Sigil of Earth even have an ICD Eurantien, I’ve easily hit 15 stacks of bleeds from split blade alone when running the setup.
There is no way you can get 15 stacks of bleed just off Split blade with just Sharpened Edges and the Sigil of Earth the max you can get is 12 and that means every single axe hits and procs the Sharpened Edges 5x, also there has been internal cooldown on Sigil of Earth for very long time its 2 seconds.
You could be right, I’ll throw on my rampager gear and splitblade a bunch of mobs today to see if I can get 15 stacks again.
I never did notice a cooldown though on Sigil of Earth.
Shortbow alone with the right setup can do over a minute with poison.
I use to troll zergs with it.
Yea, I ran rampager’s for a while on my Ranger, its a funny glass cannon build
I stopped using Shortbow with it though and Ran Axe/Horn with longbow instead.
Horn alone can instantly apply 25 stacks of bleeds on someone.
I’m not sure Sharpened Edges and Sigil of Earth even have an ICD Eurantien, I’ve easily hit 15 stacks of bleeds from split blade alone when running the setup.
I’m not understanding the whole push to move Traps over to Wilderness Survival.
Skirmishing Line is actually a fairly good line for Traps, as the second you add things like sigil of earth and sharpened edges to your build, you increase all your Traps effectiveness making Rabid a Fairly nice set for Traps.
Wilderness Ends up being your Defensive Tree (if you moved Trap Traits over for example, you instantly lose the ability to get Offhand Training and EB like you said)
None of the suggestions actually fix what Trap Spec Rangers have trouble with, and that’s high CC builds, and the reason they have trouble with it, is because they have to invest 3 utility slots into the actual spec itself. Leaving out for example, Stun Breakers and Immunities.
Ahh, wasn’t sure if it was changed yet in SPvP
Reason its useless in SPvP has more to do with the fact that Movement Speed runes aren’t available in there.
You can’t fit Sic’Em in a build unless you run those types of runes
That’s my current Setup if anyone is curious.
Only thing really giving me trouble with now is Necromancers.

The more I play with it, The more overpowered I think it would of been if it was 10 Seconds.
4 Seconds is probably to short, but 6 to 8 would of been fine, 6 Probably would of been the best stopping point.
But yea.. 10 seconds would of been blatantly oped.
I’m still using it along with Lightning Reflex (My Pet keeps being out of range of SoR active which annoys the kitten out of me, Its much easier with Melee Pet then Range Pet)
I’ve found that while its not super amazing for other classes, It’s not super bad either…and completely ruining a Thief’s day by dumping Spider Conditions + Mine (Malicious Training on Spider is still just silly, I can stack bloody 30 seconds of Cripple on someone in seconds) Then popping them with Sic’EM when they hit half life, Chances are they’ll pop Last Refuge on themselves giving them even more reveal and making them cry inside.
i still run into people who never fought BM Bunker before and are surprised by it.
Between 2 MM necros, a spirit ranger and a mesmer, my screen was littered with AI pets…
Me and a guardian did our best and we did survive for quite a while against this pet army onslaught, the owners of these pets were just spamming the auto-attack and immobilize skills..truly horrible.
I know this will never change so I hope something like this won’t happen in my next game.
At the very least you realized this game will never be E-sport.
Okittenep seeing this silly statement of Spirit Ranger just spamming their Auto Attack Over and Over again..
You’re aware that any Ranger with Shortbow uses everyone of his Shortbow abilities right?
The reason it seems like spam is because none of those abilities hit harder then the actual auto attack, Nor do they have really a different animation.
They’re also Situational Abilities.
Rofl, there is a counter to this ability, Using one of your many teleports to run away while Reveal is up.
I know I know, I have a Thief…I know the joy of being able to just pop one of the many Stealth’s we have over and over and just heal back up in stealth while dropping Conditions, Now you may have to actually think when playing the class.
Its a Huge step, going from a non thinking class to one that actually requires a bit of thought…but you’ll get there.
Hey Felivear, thanks for the post!
We knew for a while that Warriors were stronger than the meta seemed to indicate at one point, and we knew a fix for the sigil was coming.
Sometimes it just takes a while ( IN ANY GAME ) for people to try all builds, all combinations of strategies, all options, etc.
That’s why we want to see what today’s improvements do to the game, especially to support meta. I ran into a VERY strong staff Elementalist earlier on live, and was excited to see it when I did.
It normally takes a few days/weeks for builds to assimilate new changes into their kitten nals.
Due to that, we’ll be watching the meta to see where it goes and then make more changes in future updates.
The Sigil of Paralyzation was making Warriors (who used it to great effect) very strong, so went ahead and fixed it with this update. We have plans to rework all sigils/runes, but that Sigil, we felt, was so important that we had to fix it now, before we did a large balance pass on the sigils/runes.
We have to make sure we aren’t making you guys download new clients all the time for fixes. We knew the sigil of paralyzation was strong, but we also knew our fix was coming in today’s update.
Hope this makes sense and thanks for the post!
Its hilarious to me that you think that Sigil of Para was why Warriors are Overpowered..
Almost as funny as you thinking the reason Rangers didn’t use Black Bear was their F2 ability was 5 seconds to long
Rofl, Warriors are not balanced, They’re Overpowered right now…
I mean have any of you actually ran around solo lately or small manned lately in PvP?
Do you know what you see? Warrior after Warrior, That use to be Thieves and Ele’s, Ele’s don’t appear nearly that often anymore, and even the amount of Thieves have dropped, but Warriors..You can’t throw a rock without hitting 5 of them in WvW.
People aren’t playing them cause they’re balanced, They’re playing them because they require zero thought and they’re incredibly powerful.
Its the new kitten Mode Class in the game.
Wait…people don’t use devourers? They grab aggro more than the Ranger does, making them perfect for diversions, not to mention their long range makes certain that they’re going to die far less than the other pets if they’re not able to grab aggro. They can even take hits. I’m actually surprised more Rangers don’t use them. Also, Moas are there if you’re running for group support and don’t care about the damage output of the pet. And if you’re like me, you don’t care about the pet’s damage output 99% of the time.
They grab diversion based off of their Toughness, Any pet with high toughness will do this, Drakes and Wolves for example will.
Problem is, Once they got the Aggression they spend more time not actually doing damage, and they lack any utility what so ever.
Also, I didn’t even think about Birds, I really should include them, Even though I like them like someone mentioned up top, That stupid swiftness ability they have with the long animation actually ends up lowering the Birds DPS + actually causes them to lose ground in most cases..
Things like those Obnoxious Animations are why pets in general suck in some regards.
Also Dadnir as you mentioned and i yelled at Anet in the other thread, Jungle Stalker isn’t used not because of the Shout being Low duration or having a long cast time (the two things they screwed with this patch) but because it has a bloody 3 second cast time…
No one has time to wait around for a 3 second cast time shout from a pet..
When Warrior in PVT or Berserker Gear has better healing per second than a Ranger in Full Apothecary Gear….You’ve clearly overtuned Warrior Healing.
Its not a game changer, but you can be annoying with it.
I actually laughed pretty hard tonight, I saw a Thief pop on a fellow Ranger, and this Ranger also seemed to be running Sic’em…So She popped him with it, and he tried to get some distance, and soon as it ran out I hit him with it again, and he died before he could stealth.
I imagine he was raging pretty hard about that.
You’re assuming that you need that extra vitality from the bear Shiren, If you’re fighting a Champion the only thing you need is enough vitality to allow you to Pet Swap when needed…hence why a Drake is always a better choice, It’ll do more damage, its Cone Based, and you can easily swap when needed.
As for Devourer vs Spider, the Spider is less likely to be attacked in the first place then the Devourer simply because the Spider has less Toughness, If you’ve not noticed, Toughness actually acts as a form of Aggression…Simply go attack any mob right now with Both pets, You’ll notice that the Mob will go for the Devourer over and over because of this. This leads to the Devourer wasting DPS by evading back, This is why Devourer’s have one of the slowest kill times out of all mobs, Because they spend more time running then actually doing DPS.
Just wanted to say that you guys are having a similar discussion to what we’re having internally.
Yes, the Warriors are pushing some of the condition builds out of the meta, but with our sigil of para fix, those same warriors will now be losing a little damage and a little control.
We need to give it a little while to see how the meta settles. Then we’ll be putting in trait improvement and skill improvements.
We felt the Warrior would eventually rise up to become the class it is now (it took a while for people to catch on), but once you guys figured it out, they did what we expected them to do.
Now we need to see where you guys (and the meta) go next.
So it wasn’t complete incompetence that lead you to overpowering Warriors, but actually doing it on purpose..
Yea….That doesn’t make it any better
If you can’t dodge people while stealthed on a Thief, you’re bad…its really that simple..
You can easily tank every single Champ out there that a Bear could, with a Drake..
There is zero reason to run the Bear.
ZERO
Anything that can instantly kill a Spider will also do it to the Devourer, They’re not anymore tanky then the Spider, the Spider has more HP, the Devourer has less HP but more Toughness.
Utility Wise, the Spider Wins out, hell Damage Wise it wins out.
I trolled a few Thieves with it….was pretty funny..
Like i suggested to other Rangers though, Don’t use it unless you use Traveler Runes, or you’re a Bear Ranger, as a Bear Ranger has to be useful for something.
Yea, Not great for using against Veil, Its more for trolling thieves
