You just ignored the next sentence about the weapon not reliably summoning clones.

Yeah, because I didn’t agree. It summoned them plenty reliably for me. Would it be even better if they didn’t have to be near the enemy to spawn? Sure. Do I need that? Not really. Could they do that? Yeah, so why the freakout?

Additionally, how are you suppose to permanently leave clones out as a damage source when they get killed in one whack?

Because you can make more.

Same argument could be said for phantasms and shattering in PvE before HoT.

The axe skills looks impressive for sure, but still have their problems. Namely they are really weak in general, and mesmers didn’t need another weak weapon.

Again though, “is it good enough?” maybe not. I certainly wouldn’t kick a buff out of bed, yeah, it’s fun to play, so if it’s not strong enough, they should fix that, but it’s not hard to fix that, you just change a few numbers in a table and you’re done. That’s a way smaller problem than something like the Firebrand or Renegade which are non-functional at a fundamental level.

Also I should make clear that I don’t care about PvP, so additional tweaks might be necessary there.

Focus: Godtier Weapon

Xstein.2187

Instead of poking at my bad gameplay as the reason focus is bad, why not challenge yourself and make the attempt to disprove beyond a shadow of a doubt that focus might actually be more in depth than “ROFL I pull people off walls”. And maybe actually watch the vid before deciding none of it is worth watching because you didn’t like 3min of it. “Hey I didn’t watch the vid, here’s my opinion on why you suck and vid suck, thumbs down gg”.

k, watched the video
I wrote my interpretation of the first part of the video because your last message obviously implied that I didn’t know anything about focus or focus play. It was not as you said because I was using your gameplay as the reason focus was bad. I never said focus was only good for pulling people off walls. I also even told you that it was good for utility, just not for combat. I even explained to you, based on what I saw, how you could get better use out of focus. So, why would you say I only think its only good for pulling people off walls? However, besides the point, people are mainly disagreeing with you because your post and video makes it sound like its an undiscovered God tier weapon when it has its limits and could easily be argued not to be the best OH weapon for pvp/wvw. All that you showed in the video has been known for a looong, long time and its still not currently the most used weapon in pvp/wvw. Do you honestly think this is a fluke? If your video was just titled something like ‘WvW Focus Utility’, no one would be arguing with you at all, including me. The video created is actually very good for showing new players how focus can be used. The video just shouldn’t be used the argue focus is the best weapon. I also apologize for being a bit harsh with you.

p.s. This whole page is also probably somewhat of an old developed reflex reaction as mesmers are usually used to/expecting people to say they are op/broken and think stuff should be nerfed. We just don’t like that kind of attention drawn because many times when people have pointed out how strong something was, it has got nerfed, even when it probably wasn’t as strong as what most people thought.

I mean, trying not to be rude but to me, besides pulling people off keeps, you won fights despite focus, not because of it. Many times your pull failed because of stability and I even saw you pull a guy, not even towards you, for absolutely no reason before I quite watching the video.

Then you completely missed the point, as most do.
The amount of utility stacked into a whole 2 skills.

In general it just bothers me when people say focus needs buffs because all they think it can do is pull people off walls and give swiftness. Really? I could have figured that out by using it for 5 min. People should put some effort into learning what you can do with a skill set instead of asking for buffs after looking at wiki for 30 seconds.

I don’t know maybe I make a part 2 to break down how to utilize focus for anyone who didn’t quite understand what they were watching. I sometimes forget that focus is the forgotten offhand that not nearly enough attempt to use cause no bambam big number pewpew loot. I’m just not sure its actually worth the effort though.

I’m well aware that focus was used a lot by Mesmers in WvW before HoT. A lot of this had to due with access to swiftness and no 25% movement trait.
1:03: Your focus interrupted your opponent, but you did not take advantage. Only used the time to cast TW.
1:23: Pulled with focus and use auto attack and mind wrack with NO illusions up.
2:04, you pulled the elementalist away from you, no reason.
2:40, blinked and your focus missed. You then killed the player without the focus, meaning no focus was needed.
3:51: killed guy without using focus, again it wasn’t needed. You then could have used focus to pull the guys away to secure the stomp. You instead use the focus pull after the other player already revived his friend. This focus pull was followed up by nothing. No shatter, attack, or anything. You just summoned another phantasm. This is when I quite watching.

Finally, why are all the players you fight getting caught with illusionary leap? This unfortunately makes me question the skill of the opponents you are fighting.

You could be using focus to pull foes together for shatters, pull a foe to follow up with illusionary leap incase the foe knows how to dodge it, or use the focus to pull foes away from a downed player before you stomp or away from a down ally to res them. Instead I didn’t see any of that in the video content I watched so far.

I’m not doubting focus has utility, no one is. That is why it is still used all the time in PvE. However, I am doubting its combat use. As others have mentioned, nothing new has been learned about focus. It has been used to pull people off walls and ledges in WvW for what seems like an eternity.

Finding out I must have used/unlocked an expensive dye way back in the distant past.

First joining gw2 and going to lions arch right away during ‘the attack of lions arch’ on my first newly created character.

First starting PvP with builds I just made up before I knew there was such a thing as meta builds or better builds.

Buying a new set of ascended armor for WvW only for the next day to find out legendary armor was finally coming out in the next few days with rune swap (had materials for legendary saved up already).

I actually love the idea of a trait that doubles how many clones and phantasms you summon. However, both might be a little too powerful. Perhaps with the short time span left till the expansion they could pull something together with phantasms though, maybe deriving a trait from the mechanics of signet of ether.

[Concern] Will Anet actually fix the Mirage?

in Mesmer

Xstein.2187

Literally my only complaints with Mirage are that mirrors don’t persist long enough in the world, and that infinite horizon feels mandatory.

Idk why so many of you seem to be under the impression Mirage is just completely worthless and unusable, it seemed very solid to me, just different due to the dodge mechanic.

The problems with mirage:

  • All ambush skills except for sword are utterly abysmal.
  • The mirror mechanic is fundamentally flawed. Who wants to go chasing their dodges around the map? Nobody, that’s who.
  • The axe skills are weak, buggy, and clunky
  • The deception utilities are largely weak and clunky
  • At least 1 trait at every level is utter garbage

Funnily enough, these complaints are extremely similar to base mesmer complaints.

Most of our utilities are weak or clunky. Everything outside of sword & GS is weak/buggy/clunky.
The illusion & shatter mechanic is fundamentally flawed, who wants to try and maintain any number of illusions when they can be killed in less than a second preventing the damage from shatter mechanics to land in full.

Oh, and at least one trait out of pretty much every level of every spec is useless.

I feel like you could probably expand these complaints past mesmer at this point. A lot of classes have clunky/useless B.S.

We’d have a lot more variety if they fixed the base classes.

Well, actually most of those mentioned are mirage only problems. However, at the same time, you are right about other problems being related to base mesmer.

The thing is though that Chrono fixed many of the problems with base mesmer. After that occurred, many, including myself, assumed the devs would be aware of these problems and create fixes for them in every new mesmer elite spec.

The devs were obviously aware of illusion generation still, so they created a trait for it. However, as others have mentioned, Self-Deception is too weak, probably due to the history of chrono. However, the problem with chrono was more that it had two traits, not just one, for illusion upkeep that could play of one another. Also, the illusion upkeep problem before chrono really wasn’t as relevant in pvp as pve. In PvE shattering will still be detrimental with the Mirage. The new elite did nothing about shattering and phantasm upkeep. Sure, they added a fix to another base mesmer problem of illusions not switching targets after a foe dies. However, it is mostly tied to one specific weapon and you can’t/shouldn’t just fix one problem and forget about another. When they created this new elite spec, it was also like they totally forgot or didn’t know about the fact that swatted clones can die like flies.

Toughness should never be a factor in mitigating Condition damage. It a bad idea all round as it leads to only one build type.

To a stat lessening the effects of conditons it should NOT be toughness. I find it odd people would argue that Condi overpowered because it only needs “one stat” and then suggest as a fix that both power and condition damage be mitigated by one stat. It makes no sense.

Cleanses are in fact that mitigation and already exist. There is nothing like a cleanse to lessen power damage already applied.

“Toughness should never be a factor in mitigating Condition damage. It a bad idea all round as it leads to only one build type.”

So, you agree that a greater variety of ways to deal with condis is a good way to go and would lead to more build variety? Thats great, I believe the same thing. However, also believe that your view that adding condi damage to toughness would lead to less build variety is somewhat tainted. First of all, toughness isn’t really the only attribute to help against condis. There is also vitality. How does adding another atribute to help deal with condis lower build variety or create one build type?

“I find it odd people would argue that Condi overpowered because it only needs “one stat” and then suggest as a fix that both power and condition damage be mitigated by one stat. It makes no sense."

Your view of ‘one stat’ is flawed. ‘One stat’ does not equal ‘one way’. For now, lets just take vitality out of this. Right now there is ‘one way’, condi cleanse. Toughness would be another way, a second way. Adding condi to toughness would not create ‘one way’, it would create two (condi cleanse and toughness). We are not going from ‘one way’ (condi cleanse) to one way ‘toughness’. We would be going from ‘one way’ (condi cleanse) to ‘two ways’ (cleanse and toughness). To look at it another way, we would be going from 0 stats available to deal with condis to 1 stat to deal with condis (0<1). If you count vitality, we would be going from 1 stats to 2 stats.

This would be good because condi cleanses are too important. With the right balance, this would help lower the value of having condi cleanses.

On the other hand, you could also say that the attribute ‘condi damage’ is too important. If you created another stat for condis than it would also lower the value of the attribute ‘condi damage’.

“Cleanses are in fact that mitigation and already exist. There is nothing like a cleanse to lessen power damage already applied.”

I know its obvious, however, that is because power damage doesn’t do damage over time that is unavoidable without a cleanse. I would also be ok if they completely took out condi cleanses and rebalanced. That would also obviously decrease the value of condi cleanse. I mean, it wouldn’t be around anymore. However, right now I feel like Anet is too invested in cleanses for that to happen.

Power gets mitigation through protection and toughness. Condi is mitigated more strongly by resistance (33% vs 100%).

Oh ya forgot, resistance should also be pushed from 100% down to 33% and then toughness should work against condi damage as well. That way protection = resistance

There are probably lots of ways to lower the importance of condi cleanses. However, two of my favorite ideas that I really think should be implemented are

1. Make it so toughness gives you benefits against condi damage as well. There is no reason for it to only benefit against power. This than gives you another option against condis. Don’t have a condi cleanse? Well you can also get some toughness to lower the damage against condis. It probably won’t be as beneficial and a cleanse. However, its still another option.

2. Split condi damage between the first tick and the following ticks. Make it so condi damage only increases the damage of the first tick and then make another attribute that only increases damage of the latter ticks. Basically, this makes it so that more of the damage is front loaded in the first hit so the following ticks (that are typically dealt with by cleanes) are not as important. Of course, you can still put more damage in the following ticks. However, to do so you need to invest in another attribute. Power, precision, and ferocity will then be the equivalents of condi damage, condi duration, and the new trait that increases latter tick condi duration. Increasing your condi duration will than increase your produced damage from latter tick condi duration kinda like how precision increases your damage with ferocity. The two attributes will play off of each other.
Of course more balancing will be needed after such changes. However, this is what I believe they should have done a long time ago.

Just look at meta battle and see what all the meta builds have in common. Can you see it? Every single meta build has traits or trait lines that deal with cleansing conditions. How come this is the case, but not the case for other traits like stability? Well, its because curently condi cleanse plays WAAAAY too important of a role in pvp. Fight against a power or condi build and don’t have stability, you can still win if you play right. Fight against a power build without toughness, you can still win if you play right. Fight against a condi build without condi cleanses, good luck. Condi cleanse should help you play against condi builds, just like protection helps against power. However, cleanses should NOT be the end all and be all. If you are a much better player than your opponent, you should still have a fair chance with a power build against a condi build even if you don’t bring a single condi cleanse. What people say about if people use condi builds, they should still be able to win against a opponent traited with a lot of condi cleanses is also true. If you lower the impact/importance of condi cleanse you both open the door for more build variety since condi cleanse isn’t as important, and you make condi play more skillful as you are not just trying to out condi their cleanses.

Mirage
Infinite horizons should be made base and replaced by Mirror-on-Shatter which now gives you mirage cloak when you use a shatter skill. No more RNG. Mirror on Shatter should then be replace by a trait that causes ambush attacks to remove boons (works with weak GS ambush).

Mirrors should now either produce a clone or refill one of your endurance bars instead. There should be a 3rd endurance bar that can only be refilled by mirrors. That way you can benefit from the mirrors when you want to.

[Feedback] Mirage Traits

in Mesmer

Posted by: Xstein.2187

Xstein.2187

Infinite Horizons – Make baseline or add to Speed of Sand. Its apparent that the ambush skills are limited in power/effectiveness because of this trait to begin with anyway.

Speed of Sand – Increase super speed duration to 1.25 sec. The 3/4 sekittenerally just makes up for not being able to dodge to begin with. Therefore, this can basically be thought of as gaining 1/2 of super speed when you dodge.

Mirror-on-Shatter – Move up to replace Infinite Horizons. Remove RNG. You now gain mirage cloak when you use a shatter skill instead of mirrors.

Trait Replacement – Trait to replace Mirror-on-Shatter. Ambush attacks remove boons on hit (Synergizes with weak GS ambush attack).

Nomads Endurance – Endurance produces some power damage as well. If the condition damage needs to be lowered in this trait for this, so be it. Being forced to take increased condi damage from this trait when you are just looking for power leaves a terrible feeling in your stomach.

Protected Phantasms – change to protected illusions. Clones should also gain distortion upon creation.

Persisting Images – should now work on clones as well.

Liked Exciton’s ideas for Self-Deception and Riddle of Sand. I don’t think all the major adept traits should be for illusion upkeep as if you take deceptive evasion or aren’t aiming for illusion upkeep than you won’t get a different option.

Liked Ansau’s idea of changing condition duration in Renewing Oasis to condition damage, but perhaps too powerful at 20%.

Here is the 64 bit image. From my screenshots, on the 64 bit, the skin looks a lot darker. The ocular occlusion setting is not helping this issue. The tattoos look blurry or fluffy compared to the 32 bit. I can barely see the face tattoo at all on the 64 bit image. The chest plate is lacking a ton of detail in the 64 bit compared to 32 (perhaps due to coloring). You can also notice a lot of detail lost on the belt. In the 64 bit screenshot the person in the background to the left has a very blurry face on the 64 bit. However, I can at least see the eyes on the black person in the background on the 32 bit image. Finally, this may be hard to see from your images. However, if you look closer, on the inside of the characters arms you can definitely see jagged pixels while the 32 bit shows straight clean lines. To me it looks like there are two problems. 1. There is something wrong with the coloring and detail. 2. You know how if you take an image that looks clear small and then enlarge it and it looks pixilated and bad. That is what the 64 bit seems to look to me a little like. Finally, the UI bar is still sooo big and I am wandering if there is any way to shrink it down still.

I thought perhaps I was using the 64-bit version since someone in the thread mentioned “mandatory”, but I wasn’t. I downloaded it and it fixed my crashing problem at login, which was a 32-bit thing. (Hence the emulator crashing.) Did have to set video scaling to Native Resolution, to get rid of the blurry image. Also, set most things at Medium to get reasonable frame rates on my Touch Bar MacBook Pro.

So in my case, things got much better with 64-bit. Oh, with the occlusion setting I also get an odd anti-shadow around my character, but turning that off fixes it — and makes the overall screen brighter.

Xstein: Go into your game’s video settings and look for the scaling setting and select Native Resolution (or something like that). Instantly everything will be clearer and not blocky.

Ok, I changed it to Native resolution, which helped tremendously. I also tried out the occlusion to try to get a better picture, which changed some shadowing, but didn’t help the image that that much. I’m still getting very different images between the 64 bit and 32 bit, with the 64 bit image lagging in quality quite a bit behind the 32 bit image. I’m going to post some screenshots again. Some of the most noticeable differences is the skin, tattoos, background characters, chest plate, and belt. Below is the image for the 32 bit.

I did not want to comment on the mac client since I am not too computer savvy compared to others and thought it still needed a lot of tweeks before it was ready. However, now that we are going to be forced to use it, I might as well.

To put it bluntly, my screen looks like kitten with the 62 bit client. Everything looks pixilated and blurry compared to the 32 bit client. It is not crisp at all. This is even the case when I change the graphic settings. I don’t know if there is a specific reason for this in my control or not. However, the only thing I know is that currently playing with the 62 bit client makes me wana cry compared to the 32 bit. It just looks like crap and I don’t know why. I just know something has to be wrong.

Additionally, the UI is way to big. If I try to change stuff in display like others are mentioning than it just shrinks down the display screen so that its not full screen. Therefore, its not really a fix.

TBH, all I want is for the game to look like the 32 bit client.

WvW and PvP Ascended Armor Upgrades

in WvW

Posted by: Xstein.2187

Xstein.2187

Imo, this whole argument is moot. I’ve said it before – tying legendary armor to any single game mode (including raids) was a mistake. Legendary should denote mastery of EVERY part of the game, with activities required in WvW, PvP, open world PVE and instanced PVE (dungeons, fractals and raids).

What we have now isn’t legendary – neither the weapons nor the armor. It is something players can grind or buy their way to achieving (even the raid stuff). It isn’t seen as an indicator of skill by most in the game (like it should be).

To add to that – stat and rune swapping are quality of life features – not legendary rewards. They are not indicators of skill and should not be held as a reward.

In GW2, the look of the gear (the skins) is what is supposed to set it apart and let other players know (alongside titles) which part of the game they have mastered. With HOT and raids, Anet pretty much decided to ignore this key legacy selling point of the game – and the animosity and drama we are seeing now is a direct result of that decision.

I fully agree and said the same thing earlier before legendary armor came out. Legendary armor should have required mastery in all game modes. However, on a side note, now that that is not the case, I definitely could understand why pve players who don’t do or like raids would feel hurt about this change. They made up a large portion of those complaining as well. IMO they might as well add a non skin set of legendary armor to fractals as well now.

Well, no one knows. However, my guess is neither. Most living story maps were kind of a blend between the two. In addition, we are going to a desert like area. Therefore, I can’t see the landscape being too stacked. I want to see the maps more flat because I know a lot of players enjoy that. I also want there to be some stacking because I know a lot of players, including myself, like that as well. I am guessing and hoping it is a blend. If you ever saw leaks of the maps, they are huge and cover a lot of distance. My guess is that each map will have a lot of flat areas for people who like that, along with stacked areas, maybe like pyramids, for those who like stacked maps as well, all in the same map just since the maps are sooo huge.

Upcoming Stat Changes in the Q3 Balance Update

Can someone explain this to me ? " we will be converting all equipment and consumables that provide a bonus to Boon Duration or Condition Duration to use Concentration or Expertise instead. " What does that mean? If condi duration and boon duration is Expertise and concentration… you’re just saying the same thing twice. You mean you’re changing the name on the item? Im so lost. so Toxic fusing crystals will say 10% Expertise instead of 10% condition duration? Is that what you’re saying?

Food will say 100 expertise instead of 20% conditions duration.
Its going to change from a percent to a direct number. Its doing this to standardize the system. However, the food changes are also getting nerfed as well. 20% condition duration and boon duration food is being switched to 100 concentration or expertise. 15 points of those stats equal 1%. So, the food is being nerfed from 20% to 6.667%.

Why is the condi damage conversion higher than power?

The conversion is higher because condi damage starts at 0 while power starts at 1000. If Anet was super ambitious they would have made condi damage, expertise, and concentration all start at 1000.

Forgot that. My bad, jumped the gun a little. Vipers is still higher with 81.45 concentration from full ascended vs 62.04 from berserkers.
Thats 5.43% boon duration vs 4.136% boon duration, which is a barely a noticeable difference. Plus vipers is 4 stat while berserkers is 3. I’ll retract my last statement. Need to see what new stats come with pof anyway.

I agree with the reasoning with all the changes.
However, with that said,
toxic maintenance oil with 3% power and 6% condi damage to concentration?
Pleeeeaaaase don’t favor condi support over power support with permanent changes.
Why is the condi damage conversion higher than power?, Why is there no Power and Precision to concentration conversion?
Out of the maintenance oils shown, people with condi Vipers are going to get waaaay more concentration than people with power berserkers.
Please change and don’t favor one build type over another.

So, I suppose what do you propose? I can’t see them taking away the 2g for dailies. However, I can see them adding more gold sinks with the next expansion. We know more legendary trinkets are coming and the first one takes 100 icy runestones. However, I doubt this is enough. I think they need more of a gold sink that covers more of the casual players as well. I think the other problem is a lot of liquid gold comes from fractals. Perhaps they could change some of that fractal liquid gold into something else. . . like a chance at mystic coins?

Or if it was traditional WPts you could just walk over them, do exactly what you say, and then put those extra pearls towards a new back piece skin instead. Once again, point is not that it can’t be done or the difficulty, but that its faster just to walk over the WPts and doesn’t cost any currency that you could ultimately put towards other items instead while in previous episodes it was completely free.

Untrue it cost currency to use the waypoints every time you desire. This is quire literally a 1 time optional investment, that is account wide.

You want a waypoint ? Pay the pearls and have for every character, even future ones for the one time low cost of 10 pearls. Not only that, you never have to use the pearls again for anything else other than your precious skins which by the way, i have no idea what your complaint is considering you’re going to need 250 (for 1). If in your mind its not sane to purchase these waypoints once for 40 pearls then you need to be taught cost analysis because someone failed you.

I was referring to Orrian pearls are a totally different currency then coins. Your entire last paragraph is also responding to something I didn’t even say. I never said that it is not worth buying the waypoints. I said that I liked the old system better and explained why it works better for me.

some of you may not notice that you can unlock more wp….just have to buy it. I have no idea who come up with the idea but its not player friendly at all

How isn’t it player friendly?

1) it only takes 40 orrian pearls. You can get those in a day or two of playing. If you buy the orrian pearl node you get 9 with each daily harvest.
2) after unlock you can bring any alt to that map and have access. You no longer have to run to each one with each char.

You know what takes less time than gathering 40 orrin pearls? Walking over the freakin way points. To me the new system feels like you went to a restaurant to buy a sandwich. You then go the next day to buy the sandwich and they raised the price. Is the sandwich still affordable? Of coarse. However, that is not why people will be upset about the increased prices. What you could traditionally get for free by walking over it, you now have to buy. If they want to add a way for alts to unlock way points, then they should add it as a purchase in addition to traditional way points, but most definitely not to replace it.

Oh, I love analogies!

See, for me, I did a bunch of work for a day, went to the sandwich shop on the corner, and bought a sandwich.
Then, I gave the clerk a fistful of dollars to have orders sent to their three other locations in the city. The sandwich shop was so taken aback at my loyalty that they decided to give me (and everyone in my company) free sandwiches at all their locations.
What an awesome deal! My coworkers and I are going to that sandwich shop every day now! I mean, it’s a shame they stopped giving out free samples, but now I’m a part of Sandwich Club™ and I’m lov-.. er, really like it!

More like it typically costs $3 to get a sandwich. However, you only rarely feel like sandwiches and are only going because you heard they came out with a new type of sandwich that sounds good. You go in and they tell you that you can only get a sandwich for 40 British pounds. However, after this you get sandwiches for free at all our shops. You then tell them that you don’t have British pounds, you only rarely feel like sandwiches, and you only have U.S. dollars. None of their other shops are close to you and you haven’t ate all day and are therefore very hungry. In fact, there is no other restaurants around this shop. They say tuff luck, we only except pounds now, however all employers offer the option of pay in British pounds instead of dollars now. We are also going to come out with new sandwiches in the future. However, we may also change the currency to something else, like the Japanese Yen. This currency will also be offered by employers but you won’t know what the currency is till the new sandwich is released and employers won’t be able to pay you with it before hand. You then explained to the staff why you liked their old system better, even though you can get free sandwiches with the new system at all their shops. . . . unless it is a new sandwich of course.

So, don’t buy them until you have purchased all the backpacks, etc.

I don’t see the point of having them unlocked for one character only at no initial cost, but with cost-for-use, if one is planning to purchase it for other characters.

Regardless, good luck on your suggestion. I hope the Devs can spend the time to make both ways possible.

There are multiple reasons why someone might like the old system more.
1. If you buy the back pieces first then you don’t have way points that entire time you play to earn them.
2. If you do not plan to bring multiple different characters into the new map then you gain no benefit from the alt perk.
3. If for some reason you don’t like the new/next living story map and just want to get the story done because you like story content then you are forced to either do the whole story without waypoints or spend more time in a map you don’t like for way point currency before you play the story.
4. With the old system, if your new to the map and went over the way point previously and die during an event than you get the option of way pointing with a currency you had access to before the new map claim out (coins). However, you don’t start a new map with any on the new map currency so you might go to an area, die, then find out you don’t have enough currency to buy the way point, leading to an inconvenience for you that could have been avoided if the old system was in place.

There are multiple reasons some players may like the old system better. I just listed some of the examples I could think of. Mixing the system would give players both options. I also think its fine to experiment with stuff like this every so often for new maps. However, I would just rather not see the same system in all future LS4 maps.

spoiler/leak
Since you can see there are multiple way points/not temples in the leaked expansion 3 maps

Except tradition Waypoint cost currency to use, and Shrines do not.

So why not add a mix like I mentioned before. You could still have the option to unlock it traditionally for those who like the old way while also having the ability to buy the wp for other characters and use the shrine indefinitely.

You know what you could try? You could collect Orrian Pearls on your way to those waypoints, unlock it once you get there and then have it unlocked for all your alts so they can just leap to those maps without having to run to them.

By the way, if you get the Home Instance Orrian Pearl node and then go and collect it you’ll get 9 Pearls right then. Those 40 Pearls will be paid off fast enough the 270 Pearls a month node.

You know whats even faster than that ?

Playing the map. You dont even have to buy the node….Literally grab yourself a harvesting sickle and go complete the story once you land in the map. Doing so will have you completing each heart this means you get 5 chance to buy pearls for karma. As well as jumping into the reliquary for another shot to get upto 51 pearls. More than enough to buy each shrine. That’s before even touching the (20 ? Not entirely sure on the exact number) you get just for finishing the story.

Or if it was traditional WPts you could just walk over them, do exactly what you say, and then put those extra pearls towards a new back piece skin instead. Typically when I hear people support the new WP system, it is for alt accounts. Why not just have the traditional system with the additional option to buy/unlock way points for alts? Additionally, if you feel like additional WPts are not immersive, why not simply don’t use them? After the couple of time I did die doing map completion, having to walk all the way back just felt like a big pain in the ass that wouldn’t have felt that way if the traditional system was in place. My personal opinion is that both systems should be in place. You can unlock them by buying them. However, you can also unlock them the traditional way as well.

Good map, ranked second after Draconis.
New way point system bad
Loved boss fights and puzzles
Mastery: nice lore, bad implementation. Simple, boring buffs.
Story: all LS3 episodes are fine, but they don’t fit together very nicely. Its like the different living story teams didn’t interact with each other as much as they should have. LS3 felt like multiple stories instead of one directed story, not good.
Last cinematic fell short compared to LS2.

Chrono dps and expac

in Mesmer

Posted by: Xstein.2187

Xstein.2187

All I want is the dps to be fairly comparable to other classes. This alone would make the trait line incredibly useful in a variety of circumstances. IMO, It doesn’t even need to outperform chrono (the next elite in each expansion doesn’t need to always outperform the old one in all circumstances. This would just lead to horrible build variety and power creep). All I want is the Option to do higher aoe dps. Perhaps it won’t be meta in raids. However, it would be nice to take a dps build into something more laid back like fractals without knowing that the other players are probably upset or laughing at you.

Why did ArenaNet abandon Elder Dragon bosses

I don’t remember anyone saying this, other then perhaps players assuming it.

“only for them to change their mind and give up on the unique story it had”
What makes you think they changed their minds rather than this was planned out?

p.s. Why do I always hear people say we killed two elder dragons with a machine. We obviously just made them fall asleep. Even the trailer said if another dragon dies, we all die. During the story, Taimi also made a big deal showing us before the last fight even began that if another dragon dies then Tyria goes splat.

That is simply fixed by not having the vendor unlocked until they have completed all Maguuma and Season 3 masteries

There was a big spree of complaints on the forums when they made it so you could get spirit shards for filling up your experience bar after you completed all the masteries from people who wanted spirit shards from experience but didn’t want any more of the masteries. You don’t think there will be complaints from people who don’t have maxed masteries and aren’t currently interested in the rest who want to spend masteries on items instead?

Can't wait for the CD Mastery Points

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Xstein.2187

Xstein.2187

I’m oversaturated on mastery points as well. However, I think everyone’s point is that more masteries than needed were put in the game so that you can skip stuff you don’t like or have a hard time with. They were NOT put into the game for extra rewards.

If your idea is implemented than the devs not only have to create a vendor that sells items, but they also might have to somehow change an item type (masteries) that was never meant to be a currency to a currency. There is the problem that you want to make it so that the people who don’t have max masteries don’t spend masteries because that means they might not have enough later. However, maybe people who don’t have maxed masteries, and don’t care about the other masteries, still want to sell their current masteries. What if these people change their minds after they sell their masteries?

The whole vender thing just ends up creating a lot of problems, along with potentially giving people who are already salty at adventures another reason to be salty. Potentially, more people would be upset, due to saltieness, than happy. Even if I have more than enough mastery points, why would I want so much of the dev’s time put into something that may cause more problems, make a lot of people unhappy, and only give me a little bit extra gold when the time could instead be put into more content or other quality of life changes?

Just random dumping probably or a coincidence of multiple dumping at the same time.
I will save up my bags until they are about to overflow. Then I will move them over to a lvl 57 or so character and open and salvage all the material so that I get a bunch of t5 instead of t6, including a bunch of linen. I am sure others do the same.
Someone was just probably procrastinating and waiting to open all of their bags till now.
