Why am I not aloud to win a pvp match?

It’s not your fault, the MMR is random is biased against low MMR players. I know the feeling,

First step, stop blaming the matchmaking. It’s almost certainly the player’s fault. This week we got a pug complaining that he lost like 15 in a row and matchmaking sucks, then he proceeded to throw the game by losing to classes he’s supposed to counter, wiping under 2-3 seconds in every fight. He singlehandedly ended our winstreak of 25-30.

If you have a lose streak bigger than 3-4 matches, you’re the problem, and denying it won’t help you climb.

Even if it is their own low level of skill, you should’ve been able to carry the guy if your team was so good. Besides his MMR should’ve made it impossible for him to even join your match, he should’ve been in a lower level fight. So while he may have caused your defeat, he never should’ve been there in the first place. That’s how MMR fails.

There should be a limited number of players in Legendary. Like if you are not in the top 500, you drop back to Diamond. Increase rewards for Legendary game wins, and then a final reward for staying in Lege until the end of the season.

Warrior is fine. Personally, I just swapped mace for axe, and swapped Eternal Champion for Bloody Roar. Works great. Axe Primal Burst gives AH more reliably than mace, and axe is better as a power weapon atm. GS is still great, Burst being a tiny bit slower now. There’s nothing wrong with using Eternal Champion btw, it’s just not a must-pick anymore.

I think the meta/balance hasn’t changed all that much, as the nerfs were pretty across the board where it was due. DH being the most nerfed class. Even that is still viable, just not a noobstomper anymore.

Based on what I’ve read, there seems to be a strong intent to talk the community into reversing on solo/duo after this season. I hope that’s not the case.

I’d still like to know about preventing class stacking.

Also, what’s to stop people from sandbagging the placement matches to get an easy win streak?

Because winstreaks don’t give you any benefits in the new system. Why would anyone sandbag their rating for basically nothing?

Honestly, all of the “when attuning to X”-traits are really weak. There should be a trait in Arcane to make to all of these more powerful, or they should just be buffed up.

[Suggestion]Staff, honor and shout reworks

I originally started with a rework to shouts, then moved on to Honor because of Pure of Voice, and that connected me to staff. I’ll try to explain why I changed some things as I go along but I’m not very good at that so if there’s anything that’s confusing you, please ask/tell me to elaborate.

We’ll start out with shouts:

“Receive the Light!” – Reduced cooldown from 40s to 30s. Healing value to allies reduced by 30%. This ability now heals in an area around you(radius 360), instead of in front of you. This skill can now be used underwater. These are merely QoL improvements. It is also the only non-elite ability for guardians that has any serious healing value to allies, when we have traits to improve outgoing healing but nothing worthwhile to use it for. I directed it more in the direction of Tempest’s shout heal.

“Hold the Line!” – No longer gives Protection or Regeneration, these have been moved to “Retreat!”. Added in a damage component, damage comparable to Tempest’s “Feel the Burn!”. This skill now grants allies in range Might(5 stacks, 10s duration) and is a blast finisher. This shout always sounded to me as having a rallying effect. Having it do damage fits better as a concept as well. Guardians also didn’t have any damaging shouts to begin with, this(as well as elite shout changes) changes it.
Edit: At second glance, this explanation is all over the place. “rallying effect” is a bit misleading, what I mean is that “Hold the Line!” could be an offensive buff.

“Retreat!” – This shout no longer gives Aegis. Instead it gives Protection and Regeneration that were moved from “Hold the Line!”. Uptimes remain the same, swiftness duration also remains unchanged. Now breaks stun. This is mostly a thematical change. When you shout something as silly as “Retreat!”, it should give something worthwhile in return. Now, I did not forget Aegis, I just have something else in mind for it. See traits for more.

“Save Yourselves!” – Reduced cooldown from 50s to 35s. Now also gives Resistance (5s duration). This skill no longer breaks stun. Removing the stunbreak component justifies the cooldown reduction, the Resistance component is just something this shout needs in order to not be a suicide button.

“Feel My Wrath!” – Added a damage component comparable to Reaper’s “Chilled to the Bone!”. Increased cooldown from 45 to 60s. This skill always lacked the weight that an elite should have. Elites should also not be spammable.
Edit: On second glance, is 60s too much?

No changes to “Stand Your Ground!”. It works well, and doesn’t need any changes. I compared Guardian shouts with Tempest and Reaper mostly and went in their direction. Imo, Warrior’s shouts need some love too but I’m not getting into that here.

We’ll move on to Honor traits next:

Selfless Daring – Base healing brought up to 550 from 129. Scaling from Healing Power brought down from 1 to 0.6.
Pure of Heart – Scaling from Healing Power brought up from 0.5 to 0.6.
Empowering Might – Increased Might duration from 5s to 12s.
Purity of Body – Merged with Battle Presence in the Virtues line.
Writ of Persistance – Moved to Minor Grandmaster slot.
Pure of Voice – Also grants Aegis(5s). Added 1s internal cooldown.

This leaves 1 Major Grandmaster slot empty. I’m thinking of something that would give offensive support since Honor is the support traitline. Any suggestions?

And lastly, staff rework:

  1. Wave of Wrath – Also heals allies. Base value 65, scaling from Healing Power is 0.1
  2. Orb of Light – REMOVED
    replaced with
    Anvil of Light – Call down a column of holy fire that heals allies and damages foes
    Damage x4: 652
    Healing x4: 235 (Healing Power scaling 0.2)
    Duration: 3 seconds
    Radius: 180
    Combo Field: Fire
    Range: 1200
    Casting time: 0.5 s
    Cooldown: 8 seconds
  3. Symbol of Swiftness – RENAMED
    into
    Symbol of Persistence – No longer gives Swiftness, instead pulsing 1s of Resistance. Cooldown increased from 15s to 25s. Everything else is unchanged.
  4. Empower – You can now move while channeling this skill. Also grants 10s of Swiftness.
  5. Line of Warding – This skill now also blocks projectiles.

These are only based on a few days of casual thoughts, so do point out if anything feels out of place or overly powercreeped.

The Black Lion Trading Company is one of the best features of the game, even most game reviewers recognize it as one of the best market systems in all of the MMO field. I see 0 reason to throw that away. If you want more immersion, go play an RPG instead of an MMO.

I honestly thought the OP was being sarcastic. Class stacking has been an issue for as long as I’ve been in PvP. It should be locked out.

He is. In a different way than you are thinking. Having the same rules in ESL than regular ranked would really point out issues in balancing, thus forcing ANet to address said issues instead “hotfixing” with arbitrary rules.

ArenaNet has been doing the right things lately for PvP, improving on the overall systems and rewards, but still PvP population is dwindling. The most telling thing for this is the amount of legendary division players. I understand there are 0 ppl there in NA, and only 3-4 players in EU. Compared to the previous season where EU had around 40-50 legendary division players.

The question I’m asking is what can ANet do to fix things and the dwindling population? Mind you that these things don’t directly apply to ranked. I made a list of things in no particular order:

1. Personal goals for players outside ranked.
- Playing exclusively necromancer, and have your Champion Phantom title? Congratz, you have nothing to look forward to until you’ve won 10 000 matches. That goal seems and feels unobtainable to most players.
- What I would like is more achievements there in between these 2 goals, and some PvP exclusive skins/items rewarded for them.
- Achievements/reward tracks shouldn’t be the only thing to aim for. With the recent unlocking of ranks beyond 80, something should be done with it.

2. Mode diversity.
- Tired of conquest? Too bad, there’s nothing else to do. A bit of exaggeration here but seriously, we have 2 other modes besides Conquest. Start supporting/developing them as people are fed up with sitting on nodes.
- Deathmatch and Stronghold modes need more maps, and Deathmatch needs to be re-introduced to unranked matches. Give it a checkbox like you have with Stronghold.
- Variety keeps people interested. Maybe some new modes could be introduced as well.
- What’s also needed is 1-man and 10-man content for PvP, but honestly that’s a deal for an expansion.

3. The learning curve, and accessibility in general.
- It’s hard for new players to get into PvP. Or even older players that never did PvP before.
- An in-depth tutorial is needed. It should introduce all of the maps and their mechanics, and they should allow you to explore the maps to your leisure.
- Hotjoin. It’s harder to get into hotjoins than unranked, yet unranked is supposed to be the stepping stone for ranked, not a place to teach complete newbies.
- We need a 3rd queue to precede unranked, maybe until you reach rank 10. Unranked would be intended for ranks 10-40, ranked would only be accessible after rank 40 is reached. I have an idea how to run this with extremely low population but that’s a topic onto itself and will discuss it in a later post.

4. Build diversity and class balance.
- This has been getting better during the last year. Still not as good as it should be.
- Skill splitting needs to continue.
- Balance patches need to come in small, more frequent doses. Rather change something overperforming now than later when 15 people quit PvP because of it, and 5 of them never come back. It will also keep things from overshooting as happened with the revenant.
- Tbh, I expect ANet to improve upon this point with the next expansion, and we shouldn’t keep our hopes up for anything major to happen until then.

5. Support for teamplay.
- Automated tournaments. Whether that’s every 2 weeks, 3 weeks or monthly, it still needs to happen. People want to play with their friends, even in PvP. Currently there’s little reason to do so, unless it’s for some fun, guild missions or duoing in ranked. Even with just in-game prizes like Black Lion Tickets/Keys or whatever, it will attract people.
- Another point for this is that it needs to be more thought out than our current system. The PvP rooms aren’t good enough for continuous tournaments. I’d suggest another lobby for them but that has a host of other issues to resolve.

Thief has the most mobility out of all classes, you cannot expect to keep up with them on any other class. This is not a guardian issue, you just need to ask your friend to not move so kitten fast.

What Happened to Hardened Leather?

idk, the leather farm did nothing and isn’t very good. Think I’ll spend today farming and see what can be done about leather.

This is not true, the leather farm works great, the problem is ppl still want things handed to them, and don’t want to put any effort into farming themselves, they want Anet to step in and nerf it.

Fear grips casual hoarders who sell to speculators. “Word” spreads that the farm is “too hard” and “isn’t worth it” so prices slowly recover back to where they were after a few weeks. Speculators win!

And when you look at the graph, the result is still the same. The price is now higher than before the leather farm came. It’s marginal, but it’s there. What does that tell you?

When comparing Hardened Leather Sections to the other t6 mats, you see that they are a minimum of x5 more expensive than any of the others. The next contender is Ancient Wood Planks which are about 20 s per unit. Orichalcum Ingots are just under 6s, and Bolts of Gossamer aren’t even 2 s. I think the average price for all of them should be around 15 to 20 s, and improvements should be aimed toward that goal.

AND btw, what’s with the new asc weapon recipes for PvP and Fractals? Weaponsmiths and Artificers now need leather to make the weapons! These professions can’t even refine leather! This is an issue that shouldn’t exist, needing stuff from outside your crafting discipline.

I think transfering conditions would be a stupid mechanic for a boss, as ONLY necros can really do it en mass. Boon stripping is better as it can be done by many other professions as well. However necros just do it better.

I had an idea of how a 1v1 mode could work. So get this:

1. Each match has 10 rounds.
-Each round lasts for 3 mins.
-Winning a round(stomping your opponent within the time limit) will grant you 3 points.
-If your opponent is in downstate when the time ends, you gain 2 points but your opponent will gain 1 as well.
-If neither one is downed, you both gain 1 point.
-30 seconds of preparation before the round starts, timer goes off when both players have loaded into the map. If 2 minutes go by without 1 of the players loading, the game will be forfeit.

2. Maps
-would have a center point(not a cap point, just a platform) as well as 3-4 approaches/paths
-during preparation, both players are confined to a cell/cage which opens when the round starts
-players are given a role at the beginning of their 1st match as either the attacker or the defender
-the role of the 1st round will persist until the 5th round
-you will be assigned to the opposite role on rounds 6 to 10
(-if there are more than one 1v1 map, the map may change between rounds 5 and 6)
-attackers will start at the end of one of the paths
-defenders will begin from the center of the platform in the middle of the map
-if the attacker does 0 dmg on the defender before the time runs out, the game will consider this a forfeit, thus giving the defender 3 points, and the attacker gets 0.

3. Class rotation
-every round you will face a different class
-1st opponent is chosen randomly
-subsequent classes are chosen randomly based on the classes you have not yet faced
-10th round you will again face a random class

4. General rules
-get 5 silver/point gained
-getting 26 or more points will result in additional rewards, yet undecided but probably nothing too fancy
-between rounds you gain the option to either continue, or exit
-going to character creation or logging out will be considered as exiting
-exiting midmatch will be considered a forfeit

Everyone would run cele if it was reintroduced. Have fun fighting cele warrior or cele reaper

would not run cele on warrior, it’s not worth. still other professions would use it.

The Mace/Sh & GS build would be much stronger with Cele due to the insane condi application and sustain from healing power stat

healing power is not needed for AH. nor are defensive stats. the whole point of the GS build is to pump out a ton of damage, using cele defeats the point.

if you want hybrid damage viper or sinister would be the way to go.

Or destroyer. Honestly I don’t see warriors current builds benefiting from celestial, as healing power and the other defense stats are pointless for it. Even macebow would essentially become too weak on the offense side.

The most likely classes to benefit from celestial would be elementalist, engineer and mesmer. For engineers it would likely be for a gimmicky/alternative build as Paladin and Mender alrdy provide everything needed for power scrappers.

Rev hasn’t been good at 1v1s for a long time

You clearly haven’t seen the ESL 1v1 tournaments. There was 1 player that successfully beat every other class put against it with a rev, including very good mesmers, DH and warriors. This was about 2 weeks and 1 week ago, so after the nerfs as well. And others playing rev haven’t been doing badly either. Tbh, the bad rep rev has been getting lately isn’t entirely deserved.

They actually fixed this problem to some degree in the expansion zones, where mobs have mechanics to them that the player is expected to counter.

Sadly most player’s response to this was to whine how “hard” it was.

Yet none of those enemies is truly challenging either. The only way you die is really when you get overwhelmed.

-Hammer is ranged, Staff is Melee… I’m sure i missed something in the lore but to me this is so absurdly unlogical that i have trouble enjoying playing with either. This class needs a Greatsword, a “normal” Hammer or at least something cool to whack with, staves are brittle fragile canes not made for smashing heads.

It might’ve been dropped in the game a bit out of the blue, and it might feel slightly weird in GW2, but this kind of weapon mechanics are familiar for people that have had any experiences with D&D through games like Baldur’s Gate and Neverwinter Nights as I have. Magically returning thrown hammers and quarterstaves are quite easy to come by there.

And btw, quarterstaff is a real weapon used in several martial arts, so you thinking it as an illogical melee weapon is a bit illogical. Some people even claim it’s superior to sword as a dueling weapon because of it’s longer reach and how fast it is to use.

MMO lore doesn’t matter here, it doesn’t change the most basic things about reality, such as that getting hit by a 1,5 m pole of wood hurts, and breaks bones.

Look at the full graph over time and don’t just cherry pick two points in time. Where it sits at now is the normal level when there isn’t as many players playing. Notice how there’s always a sharp decrease in price with each living story episode? There was also the speculation that the leather farm would dramatically increase supply that drove prices down a bit.

There are 2 spikes in January that rise over 34 s, and the Leather Farm hadn’t been announced yet. Now, in March there are 4 spikes over 34 s, now that most people know it’s there and we’re barely 3 weeks into the month. Statistically we can predict an additional spike towards the midway of the week. That’s more than double the amount of price spikes. I’m not cherrypicking certain moments, I’m looking at the monthly average.

The prices dropping in February can be accounted for by the announcement/release of LWS3E4. It’s a statistical anomaly created by marketing, basically.

That’s cherry picking again. Prices fluctuate but the price level as remained relatively flat outside of the impacts of the LS and leather farm announcement.

You have a really weird idea of what cherrypicking is.

Endless stab beats little stab.
Endless boons make boon removal / corruption useless.
Resistance beats all condi builds, and another skill that makes them immune to dmg (not a boon so can’t be removed woohoo)

Get your facts straight.
-Warriors don’t have endless stab. They have stab on F2, and any stunbreak, of which there are a total of 2 in the meta build. Which is not too much. Just enough to get by. Stability pulsing no longer exists.
-Stab is always corrupted first. Resi is converted to chill, which is brutally efficient for a condi necro, and good for a power necro as well.
-Resistance is totally a boon. It’s been a year from that particular Berserker Stance change.

Movement Speed Buff for DH

Having some other way of improving guard mobility and QoL might even warrant some positive changes into the staff. The symbol might give superspeed rather than swiftness, which would give it much better combat utility.

If it isn’t tied to a useful spec, the +25% movement speed should be tied to a signet, imo, wasting a utility slot for mobility is a much better tradeoff than wasting an entire line of unwanted traits. And yeah, I want this option to be in a guardian spec-line or utility, not DH specifically.

In soloQ, DH and warriors are my least favorite team mates. Because everybody keeps talking about how “OP” they are, many players tend to play them even when they have 0 experience with the class, and aren’t too great at PvP in general. Some just have misguided ideas about what they are supposed to be doing. That makes them the most unreliable team mates.

Frankly, this isn’t a DH/guard issue at all. A burnguard is powerful and fun to play but it has serious weaknesses in exchange for that. They don’t have cover condis, so even the most basic condi clear will remove the burn, it is up to the player to see that. It and other builds are quite easily countered by unblockable skills and just plain good timing and positioning.

Engineers and mesmers on the other hand are my favorites, because most ppl in the steering wheel of those classes know what they are doing.

The only problem I see with DH is trap duration. Dropped traps should expire faster. Guardian may be my main class, but I do exactly 0 PvP with it. Necro and rev are my PvP mains and I defeat DH’s with both. But it is annoying when you go cap an empty point and discover the DH has left a surprise for you.

Start firing at max range and open up with Lava Font+Flame Burst, cast Meteor Shower so that the back-edge of it is where your character is. When done with MS, drop another Lava Font at your feet and start going around the circle to avoid hits while still keeping your enemy in the middle of the Font. Enemy is usually dead when this is done. I run full Rampager’s for open world.

If the opponent is Veteran or bigger, open in Air Attunement with Glyph of Storms, swap to fire and everything I wrote above. If the first salvo doesn’t finish the enemy for some reason, use Burning Retreat to get some distance and fire your Lava Font+Flame Burst again.

One of the big problems with moa is that people don’t know what to do with it. One of the PRO league guys even scored a Chieftain kill while moa’d.

you do realize melee actually means close range right? I said stop asking for melee spear, which in turn would force guardians to rely on scepter as their only ranged weapon since you can’t use a spear AND a longbow at the same time.

if Anet adds axe for guardians as a ranged wep, fine with me, but it absolutely CANNOT be melee only, or 90% of guardians will stick with DH.

Why is a ranged weapon so mandatory? We did great as burn guards or bunkers before HoT, and I would gladly go back to that. If by going back we mean by actually making this stuff work again. The how of it is quite irrelevant to me.

I’m in favor of the 2-handed variant of the spear, and it would work as a melee condi weapon. We could call it a glaive to avoid confusion with the water-based spear/harpoon.

One thing to notice, that should they add entirely new weapons along with ESpecs, they wouldn’t need to make any low lvl variants/skins for that weapon. It is only used by an ESpec, thus it is only usable by lvl 80 characters. And they make new weapon skins all the time, can it be that hard to make a few dozen skins for a new weapon type? Granted that they may want to do Legendary weapons for such new weapon types, and that is a bigger process.

Elite Specializations.

  • Mechanics Stack on top of vanilla mechanics, like a tumor.
  • Over powered trait lines that often negate entire trait lines form the core mechanics
  • Anything done to improve vanilla mechanics will only make elite specs more powerful.
  • gate utility skills behind the trait line, for no good reason.
  • gate the weapon behind the trait line, for no good reason.
  • Were created solely to force players to pay for heart of thorns, instead of giving the players actually good content.

What do you think they were supposed to do? I can’t believe this whining is still a thing. This is always what happens with expansions, you should’ve seen it from the get-go. And GW2 was always going to have expansions even if the devs didn’t see it at the start. Expansions are PR first and foremost to keep the game in the public eye. Continued updates can’t do that.

Expansions are also supposed to bring progression. Since the devs hold on to the idea that we won’t have vertical progression via levels, we have to have some horizontal progression via “widening” the classes we already have. The flexibility alone that it brings is powercreep by itself. It’s just not blatantly obvious by pointing out that the other guy has a bigger number than you do.

Edit: Just corrected vertical and horizontal the other way around. Got mixed, english isn’t my native language.

I’m talking about the achievements where there are clear precedents but are just not there. Such as:

-Chak Slayer
-Mordrem Guard Slayer
-Mushroom Slayer

Also, why don’t regular Mordrem count towards the Plant Slayer achievement? The vines atleast totally should. Itzel and Nuhoch count towards Hylek Slayer, so why not this one?

Taunt and Fear should have less priority, because they can be stunbroken as well. In general I agree, there should be priorities for clearing. It would make things easier for both parties, the receiver and the provider.

Members of the community team in unranked, simply to get laughs from easy wins against PUGs. Why would they not sandbag to get classed in with new people they could easily trounce?

You’d end up with a high win rate. This would advance you quickly. Some find entertainment in winning a match with very little chance of losing.

And yet, as Evan explained earlier, a high win rate may not affect your rating in any way. It’s only as you defeat matches you are supposed to lose you get a better rating. Tanking your rating does nothing except temporarily placing you on a lower rating. Which will start to climb back to your old rating as soon as you start winning again.

@Evilek You forgot Aegis but in general I agree.

For whoever said that the symbolic guardian has more sustain than last season ele, learn to play pls. That’s simply not true. Symbolic may be able to stalemate scrappers or druids and wins against chronos or thieves, but warriors, revenants or necromancers destroy it rather easily on equal skill level. Last season ele could at least stalemate all of them.

That’s only applicable 1v1. Guard stacking on the other hand IS an issue but it’s not an issue of the class, but of the matchmaking. Ranked should have preventive methods for class stacking of any kind. It’s still one of the most wanted things for ranked, and there must be a reason why ANet still hasn’t done it, so there must be something about it we don’t know about.

thanks for all the info folks, just the minor tweak of taking dragon hunter has re-invigorated my want to play the class. still tweaking the stuff to not spend a fortune on rejigging gear so I am working with my sinister stuff but so far it is awesome, just need to get a long bow as when I tested stuff by using my rangers ascended zerker bow and everything else from my ps warrior this has been a good thing.

Btw, it may be good for you to have a set of Marauders, as pieces of it can be added to almost any other set to provide a bit of vitality. Besides, it’s only about >5% DPS drop from Berserker but a ton more vitality which doesn’t even interfere with aggro.

@Lonami Your thoughts on Idea #1 totally conflicts with what you’ve done with all the other ideas. Revenants biggest problem is over-complexity and then you proceed to make it even more complex? Contradictory to say the least.

I do have some ideas for improving Revenant. I want to focus on the underperforming legends but there are some global changes as well.

Global changes:
-Reduce the cost of non-Elite Spec upkeep skills by 2. Yes, even IO. Currently clicking IO at the wrong time is way too punishing, and the rest are just not worth their current upkeep cost.
-Healing skills no longer cost energy. Instead they refund it. Glint Heal retains the upkeep cost though but the flip skill will refund some energy.

LEGEND CHANGES:

Ventari
-Project Tranquility: Will now follow the revenant instead of being stationary, and will appear upon swapping to the legend instead of a separate skill. Can no longer be moved by will. Ventari’s Will base self-healing increased by 600%, out of which 25% will be projected to allies. Cooldown increased to 30s.
-Purifying Essence: Energy cost reduced from 30 to 20. Now also breaks stuns.
-Natural Harmony: Healing to allies increased by 50%. Does not affect the casting player.
-Protective Solace: Added an initial energy cost of 10.

Jalis
-Inspiring Reinforcement: Is no longer targeted, will instead be summoned before you not unlike Searing Fissure. Difference is the road will start it’s summoning from 50 distance behind you.
-Forced Engagement: No longer Taunts untraited, instead Immobilizing targets. Also grants Aegis(8s). Energy cost reduced from 35 to 25.
-Vengeful Hammers: No longer gives Vengeful Hammers buff, instead pulsing Protection(1s) every second.
-Rite of the Great Dwarf: Energy cost reduced to 40 from 50. Duration increased to 6s from 5s. Reduced casting time from 1 1/4s to 1/2s. Added a 20s cooldown.

Mallyx
-Empowering Misery: Will now consume conditions up to a maximum of 5. Healing gained per condition reduced by 50%.
-Pain Absorption: Now breaks stuns. Initial Resistance gained increased from 2s to 3s.
-Unyielding Anguish: Energy cost reduced from 30 to 20. Removed the rooting aftercast effect.
-Embrace the Darkness: Removed stat buff. Initial energy cost increased to 10 from 5.

I’ll start thinking on traits later, have other stuff to do for now. When you read specific changes, think on how the global changes affect them.

Why is it ok for eles to be unkillable?

I would say Guardians are unkillable, because everytime I get near one, my HP drops to 25% because of traps. For Eles, just make sure you bring a lot of Conditions. They wear down because they have limited mass condi cleanse. Interrupt their heals, and they die.

I’ve seen tank eles — in particular staff tanks, survive heavy condi. A good ele tank build is impossible to kill unless you have at least 3 people who can spam cc.

Guardians are obnoxious to kill, but so are engineers. It’s just a matter of catching them off guard or focusing. Stability really helps against Dragonhunter blenders.

No they don’t. Playing necromancer, I can bring down pretty much any ele 1v1. When they swap attunement, go shroud, stun them and start rolling. That’ll force a cleanse/cleanses and a heal. RS #2 to strip their boons, leave shroud and apply pressure. When they swap to water, interrupt overload with staff #5 or CttB. Now they are out of heals and you scepter/RS them to death.

It is ok for eles to be unkillable because they don’t have any other viable playstyle. If they take away the only thing that works, eles will have nothing to go to.

Hey guys, thought I would make this thread for ideas to share with Anet!

One Idea I had was a PvP arena map where half is on the ground and another part is under water! It would be so much fun to have an area where you have to fight under water! I love the water concept in GW2 and it would be so cool to add that element to structured pvp and or areans!! Chime in on PvP thoughts and potential map ideas!

FYI, there was such a map but it was taken away because of how unbalanced UW combat is. It was called Raid on the Capricorn. Many people, including myself, think it could be a fun little map for hotjoin but not for any rated PvP.

True. But things have changed since. Mercenary amulet for example would be exactly what Necromancers need right now. Ofc it would still be a bit OP in the hands of warriors/mesmers but that could be changed. The massive confusion from mesmers is something ANet should be looking into alrdy, and to be fair warrior condi application isn’t OP, but their ridiculous sustain is.

And I honestly believe that nerfing ele healing skills AND removing Cleric Amulet was a communication error on ANet’s part.

Pings are the best form of communication. I only ping my own location when I see trouble I can’t handle alone incoming. Usually that’s a 2v1, or when on druid, a warrior coming for me.
