Why do so many people want a bard class so bad?

At launch we had two classes that never got released. The first being Commando which every knows won’t happen due to tech. The second is the minstrel that later revealed itself to be the Mesmer.

A Bard and a Minstrel are more or less the same and the reason it’s so requested is because Anet put the idea out to begin with and it stuck.

Hate to tell you, the Bard and Commando classes were april fool’s jokes. They were never seriously intended as classes.

Honestly I think it’d at least be a bit classy if there was some tamer options instead of just dancing and fireworks.

Some options to bow, salute, etc.

If I have a tough game, I don’t necessarily want to dance cause it’s a bit mocking.

Give us some options to salute/honor our fallen enemies.

Please fix day and night

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ykfox.3825

Ykfox.3825

To be honest I kind of like the Night’s as they are now, simply because I like seeing where I’m going.

It also fits since there’s not many lights out and about in the world that would ruin your character’s night vision.

Plus GW2 doesn’t really lend itself well to dark nights like Skyrim etc. do.
In Skyrim, night time is awesome because you can sneak around and actually use the darkness as a tool. There’s nothing like that in GW2.

Now all that said, if ANet introduced moon-phases where the night is darker when it’s closer to the New Moon phase, that’d actually be pretty neat and immersive.

Flesh Golem, still not available underwater

Ykfox.3825

Anet seems to be avoiding underwater combat recently. Not that I blame them! (Seriously though, I enjoy underwater! Fix underwater skills ).

Personally, I think that all skills should at-least have an underwater equivalent. Maybe by the time we fight the Deep Sea Dragon we’ll get some changes.

(inb4 the Deep Sea Dragon is fought on ships. Or on the surface.)

I reckon anet will bypass that by having us discover underwater cities akin to the Gungan cities in Star Wars: Phantom Menace.

I mean, there’s a few known races that live underwater in GW2 already. Quaggan, Largos, Krait, etc.

That said, have you guys ever looked at the Flesh Golem? It’s a giant solid mass of flesh/bone. It might not even float.

I have a ‘kinda’ related issue, not sure if I should make a separate post, but I’ll risk posting it here in an effort to streamline the forum, and I suppose support your post in the process.

I play in 3rd person, and in some situations, I play relatively close to my character, like roughly the old default distance behind your character? There are some fights where it’s handy for me.

My issue as a staff elementalist is the long distance, ground target spells, and at certain angles, and being that close to the action, it’s hard and nitpicky to see if I have my cursor on the ground as ‘far’ out as I can. I usually have to sacrifice by not being close enough to the monster when rushed.

Taking a side step for a second, my spells have a red line under them if I’m targeting a part of the monster and I’m too far away to use that spell. Also helpful for me to re-target a different monster appendage so I’m in range, where I’m standing, so I can continue.

Now, when my cursor is away from me out on the ground and I press an area spell, I get an error message, and it won’t let me cast. My question/suggestion (quesggestion?) is: If it knows it’s going to refuse my cast where my cursor currently is away from my body, why not tell me that by putting the little red indicator bars under my spells? As I move the cursor away from me, there will be no red bar, until my cursor gets too far away, then it shows the red bars under the spells.

This would allow me to know that max distance in real ‘busy’ effects and chaos situations without having to actually see where my cursor is, relatively to identifiable things on the ground in front of me.

And maybe to cut down on the calculations, maybe make it only come on when you have something targeted and are auto-attacking with any of your other abilities? Wouldn’t want it having to recalculate that if I’m just running around not really attacking anything.

Not quite the same as yours, I know where my cursor is on the screen, I don’t know exactly where it is more precisely in the world, if that makes sense.

Edit: Oh, +1 to Donari’s suggestion. I tell people about that all the time. It’s not perfect, but it’s better than not knowing about it.

There’s actually already something like what you’re describing. Hit F11 to open options, scroll down to the bottom.

There’s two options there, one is ‘Lock Ground Target at maximum Skill Range’ which literally makes it so that even if you’re mouse is way off in the distance behind the target, at most a ground targeted spell will show up at the maximum possible range.

There’s also ‘Snap Ground Target to Current Target’ which literally just makes ground targeted spells cast on your currently selected target. (Assuming it’s within range, of course.)

They could, maybe, make crystal wings that leave a rainbow trail. But (and I’m being serious here), I’m sure someone would get upset if they heard of an MMO where they wanted all the LGBT supporters to gather on the highest ledge they can find, and jump off.

Suggestion: Tavern Parties

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ykfox.3825

Ykfox.3825

TBH I can’t see it being terribly hard for ANet to implement either. An NPC gets added to the tavern/etc., and then when you purchase stuff either it gets spawned in a set location or maybe it becomes a placeable object like guild decorations.

Of course, it’s probably still hard. But considering that it might make some of the bars in the various cities a bit more popular, it’d breathe a bit of life into the cities.

Suggestion: Tavern Parties

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ykfox.3825

Ykfox.3825

So while exploring LA on my newest ranger, I took the time to actually notice some of the stuff you explore.

And it occurred to me ANet has all these taverns/bars/etc. scattered around the various cities/wilderness, but there’s almost nothing to do at them.

So I was thinking, wouldn’t it be kind of cool if ANet introduced some NPC’s at the various bars that would sell stuff to make those bars briefly more… active?

So, maybe you can pay to briefly unlock some firework launchers. Or have food/drink. Or have a ‘band’ come out and play music.

I’m aware that this stuff is already available via Guild Feasts/player instruments etc. But it’d be kind of a neat feature that might make people use those locations for in-game celebrations. (Say if a guild is celebrating one of their members birthdays/etc.)

Maybe also have it so that there’s a random chance of your ‘event’ being crashed by bandits/drunks, and you have to beat them up. (I admit it, I really want the bar brawl minigame that was promised to us…)

Anyone else think this could be something fun to do while you’re bored in cities?

After investigating there’s the same exact issue with the Honor of the Waves medium boots on female Norn.

I mean, trade some of the gems to gold and you get the free waypoints/reduced TP costs.

If you want the bank access/etc. you could buy those too.

There is literally no reason to go subscription model to get these things.

Edit: To contribute, how about some sort of fancy title that gets fancier the longer you’re subscribed. No gameplay advantage for doing it, but it’d be something you can only get by subbing.

Edit2: Title could be like ‘Part of a Crowd; for month 1, then in month 2 it changes to ’Crowd Controller’, and in month 5+ it changes to ‘Crowd Control Warrior’.

My Sylvari thief (Blue skin, not sure what color exactly, but definitely blue) looks completely fine in regular(Non-cultural) medium armor dyed a mixture of red’s/browns/greens/etc.

Huh. Looks cool in the pic I posted, but the actual armor looks like crap – I just want a black (deep black) robe and hood. No swirly bits – just black

I mean, have you tried dying your armor just black/grey? Cause that’s how you get black robes. If you want deep black you’ll need to shell out for a deep black looking dye.

Why are raids designed backwards?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Ykfox.3825

Ykfox.3825

There’s a flaw in your logic. ANet never specifically wanted to get RID of healer’s and tanks, it just wanted every class to be able to do most anything.

Example they used way back when was an Elementalist swapping to Water Attunement to provide healing for the group.

The goal they set out to achieve wasn’t to get rid of tanks/healers per se, but to make it so X class isn’t REQUIRED to perform Y role in a group.

Explain Druid then?

Explain why there so many ways to make tanks of Scrappers, Reapers, Necros, Guards, Warriors, and others…

Explain why healing on classes like Reaper/Necro is almost non-existent (yeah, use blood magic, but its still not as effective as Ele’s staff water and Druid)… And thieves don’t even have heals that are even worth using for party use?

They actually made the trinity show up in Raids and all.

Any class can tank, in theory.

Also, many classes have/had group healing abilities at one time or another.

Thieves had their venom-heal, Guardians have shouts and symbols.

Engineer’s have healing turret, Elementalist Water Attunement.

Ranger has (and always had) Healing Spring and Water Spirit.

Necro’s have Blood magic for minor group heals. (I never said every class was good at healing)

Mesmer’s have their Well-heal now, and have had various minor group heals through traits.

Warrior’s… yeah. They never really had much in the way of healing

Revenant’s… yeah. Ventari, etc.

Every class is capable of healing to some extent. They’re not necessarily great or even good at it, but they can perform the role. And before raids that was plenty.

With raids, well. I wouldn’t be surprised if a few months from now we see a team do it with no healing at all.

That’s right, 4 people managed to take a Guild Hall.

This does not need to be made easier. It was not easy taking it with 4 people, it would have been better with 5 or 6. But it is DEFINATELY doable.

I believe in you, small guilds. You can do it.
