People who bought flamekissed did nothing wrong, I agree. Unfortunately for them ANet made an oopsie releasing a skin that’s intended to be exclusive prestige armor on the gem store.
You claim T3 owners would lose far less, but consider that some people have had that T3 since way back when Gold was fairly hard to get. You’re advocating that all that time and effort they put into getting a set of armor that’s unique to their race be basically spit on.
I get that the people who paid real money for the Flamekissed are getting a raw deal here, but ARE they? We don’t even know what the new Flamekissed will look like, and I for one reserve the right to ‘LOL’ if you all end up liking it more then the current version.
Again, I hardly see how anyone could possibly have needed Transmute Crystals for this armor, since you don’t need them to apply gem store skins to a piece of armor/etc. So really if you used any Transmute Crystals it’s only because you put it on the wrong piece of armor and had to fix your own mistake.
Ultimately, even if you don’t like the way the new armor looks, you can always get a refund and not have really lost anything.
In fairness, Kasmeer also has an option of complaining about her Phoenix armor design being hijacked….
Lord Byron, you do realize after the skin is changed, if you’ve bought it, and really dislike it that much, ANet will most likely offer refunds for it?
Admittedly, I can’t see them refunding any Transmute Crystals used… You shouldn’t have needed any, unless you applied the skin to the wrong armor in the first place, which is your fault.
As for the this solution only screwing one side, consider it thus: If Anet DOESN’T change the skin, they’re completely screwing any human character who bought Tier 3 Light.
Most people have to work decently hard to get Tier 3, and you’re implying ANet should spit in the face of that work by changing the Tier 3.
People complained because theyhave a T3….
CHANGE THE T3!!!!!!!!!!so they have their exclusive armor…..
They have 0 rights to spoil other of what they have.
Um… the irony in what you typed is hilarious. You want ANet to change the CULTURAL tier 3 so that the HUMANS can have their UNIQUE armor, while you and others who buy it get to enjoy the (really awesome) cultural?
I mean, you’re admitting that they’re complaining because it’s supposed to be an ‘exclusive armor’, and you even imply you agree they deserve one, since you suggested ANet change the T3… But then you make a comment about them ‘spoiling’ what you have?
LAWLS, is the correct response here, I believe.
I for one give kudos to ANet acknowledging they made an oopsie and changing the armor skin. For all you know the new skin might turn out even better.
While I admit I really want this for an elementalist, the fact that they did this to a cultural tier 3 is just insulting, considering they could have had the heavy and medium Flame armors be some other race’s culturals….
You guys are forgetting that all the current classes in GW2 are fairly unique from each other. What would be unique about a ‘Shadow Knight’?
Honestly, it sounds like someone’s fantasy of a thief, necromancer and warrior rolled into one OP class. Lame, pass.
God no. The whole ‘dark knight’ theme is way over done. ANet has managed to produce some really unique and interesting classes before, (Ritualist, Dervish), I pray they won’t fall back on such a cliché class-type.
As soon as they allow town clothes to be worn in combat, you’ll see a lot more people wearing costumes on Halloween. This is simply a design over sight. They figured with the addition of town clothes, people would switch to their town clothes when in a town or outpost. But they don’t. People just wear their regular armor most of the time. They simply need to change that.
The problem with that logic is that town clothes have been in game since launch, but the only new town clothes they’ve added have been a few minor options in the gem stores, along with a few Holiday sets.
They’ve yet to add enough town clothes for people to be visually different from each other, so no one wants to use them.
That said, they should also add a toggle when entering a town that automatically switches you to town clothes. Make it so you can choose to be in your armor or not, without constantly having to swap manually.
Wouldn’t it make more sense to make topics like this after the event is officially over, which is the only point we can be absolutely certain they won’t return?
ANet hasn’t said anything about whether the Older skins will be coming back or not, and I’d wager there’s going to be more Halloween content to come… because so far the Mad King hasn’t shown up at all.
I personally think the new Greatsword is better then that ugly annoying chainsaw that belches smoke everywhere. I will admit I’d hoped for more skins, but for all I know they could plan on adding more in a future patch. (I so wanted a pumpkin themed focus….)
The cobs might end up being drops of some sort or other, for all I know. The lack of titles is a bit unfortunate, but hardly something to riot over seeing as hardly anyone seems to have used the Emissary title from last year….
As for dumbing down the Clocktower, afaik all they did was make it so the other players are ghostlike, which is nice, since there was much griefing last year by Norns and Charr.
Edit: @ Sarie: Last year’s was awesome, I agree. So far this year’s is pretty good too, but some of that new car smell is gone, since we’ve seen the decorations/labyrinth/etc before. It happened in GW1 too. Don’t worry, the closer it gets to King Thorn the more excited you’ll get, probably.
We’re not really paying for the content, through Gem-store or otherwise. All you’re paying for in the gem store is EXACTLY what you buy in the gem store.

This Halloween is even more fun then last years. The only difference really is you can’t get the achievements from last year.
The whole Bloody Prince thing? Awesome. The new Greatsword, Shield and Staff skins? Awesome. (That Silly Scimitar is kinda… silly though.) The new achievements? Look not too terribly hard to get, should be interesting.
How about you just skip Christmas? Since it seems you get no appreciation for introducing new stuff for us players to do, it seems only fair we get a time out for demanding everything be handed to us on a silver platter.
And no, I’m not joking, I honestly hope ANet just skips the Christmas celebration. Half of all the players are doing nothing but whining about what ISN’T available, rather then enjoying what IS available.
Thank you ANet, I for one am enjoying the content that was put out, eagerly await more, and love that the JP is back, I’ll beat you this year Clocktower!!
You know, considering the patch hasn’t been out even a full day, why not wait and see what happens to the price of the mats in ~24-48 hours?
As for achievements, personally starting to wish ANet would just remove achievements from the game entirely. Everyone is whining about them….
Best advice to not feel lonely on any server regardless of population: make friends, find a good guild.
If you don’t have people to play with and just try to solo everything the game gets boring really fast.
Honestly I’d like to see them introduce a mechanic wherein when a condition hits full stacks, ie at 25 stacks, it’s converted into a new condition.
Example would be you hit 25 stacks of bleed on Teq, and after he’s had 25 stacks of bleed for say… 20? seconds solid it ticks over, wipes out all stacks of bleed currently on him, creates the new condition (Hemorrhage?) that still ticks damage, but also allows people to keep stacking bleed.
If implemented correctly this would also mean that damage on the boss would slowly ramp up over time, meaning conditions would actually be not only viable, but desirable.
Since the ‘new’ condition would expire over time, it would hopefully also keep condition from becoming the only thing people want.
So this guy… is keeping your world (His world’s enemy) from capping points as quickly as you otherwise would… and this is considered griefing?
Huh. I thought that was sort of the point of WvW…. to keep the enemy teams from capping your towers/etc.
You’re right this is ridiculous. Why, even with me logging on to my Mesmer and porting people into the JP’s in LA for free empyreals, it’s going to take them a while to get BiS….. clearly, there’s something wrong when you actually have to devote a little bit of time to getting the absolute best weapons.
The important aspect to enjoying this game, like enjoying any other mmo out there, is to find people you enjoy playing with.
As long as you can find even just a few good people to play with this game is still one of the best out there imo. Especially since almost every other game has a monthly fee.
Gotta be honest, I prefer not having stupid amounts of skills to decide between. I got enough of that in GW1 and WoW. Admittedly, having more skills will be nice, so long as they don’t go overboard.
As for combat, I actually like the combat in this game. Why? Because general any monster that could be considered a boss is probably smart enough to think ‘I should beat on someone other then this tank that keeps getting healed…’.
Gotta be honest with you… I just want to see Scarlet dead. Very dead.
You’re missing out on a great experience. Some people just can’t do JP’s, and they get so frustrated trying they give up. Then you as a Mesmer come alone and finish it, when you offer to portal people the thanks you get is amazing.
I’m not talking getting tipped for portal’ing etc, I don’t care about that. But when someone whispers to thank me after I do the portal, well, it reminds me of why MMO’s are worth playing.
Every zone except Southsun and the Orr maps has 2 towers, so there’s actually more then 30 towers. My advice is go to some zones you just plain haven’t been in yet, and get the towers there.
Is it really an ‘achievement’ if it’s handed to you on a silver platter? The entire Liadri fight is about learning the pattern to get to phase 2, then you just have to range her while staying away from her. I’ve beaten her twice now across two accounts. She’s hard, but not impossible.
Tip: Make sure to fight her on the northern most arena.
My advice is to find a friend to level with. I’m leveling my Mesmer with a guildies Guardian, and we haven’t had any problems at any point. (Except that one time we somehow aggroed a champion and 2 veterans….)
Just managed it on my warrior. Trait’s were 30/20/0/10/10, and I used GS for the first phase for the skill3 evade through the AoE, phase 2 I used Rifle with piercing trait and extended bleed duration. I just got plain lucky circle strafing her.
Mostly p/t/v armor (trinkets were misc), berserker greatsword (Ebonblade), the Azure Railgun rifle.
Took along Hsig, Frenzy, Endure Pain, Fear Me, and Signet of Rage. Used SoR for swiftness in phase 2. Frenzy and Endure Pain didn’t get used, (I had been trying to burst her down a bit, but gave up on the attempt where I actually got her.)
It’s half luck beating her, but it definitely helps to be in a party so you can toss the big crosshair on her.
It amuses me people are complaining about what is essentially free skins. Good lord people, they’ve only just introduced these new loot bags off Champions, yes, the current dagger skins suck. I agree with you.
HOWEVER, they could theoretically easily add in more skins anytime they want. Just grin and bear it, and hope ANet releases some new skins before too long.
If it went F2P you’d get a bunch of people making random accounts and then using bots, so no, hopefully it never goes F2P.
The portal is a one-time use consumable that effectively allows you to use a skill that is similar to the mesmer’s portal. We recognize that it’s a very powerful item, so the recipe is quite rare and takes considerable resources to manufacture.
I urge you to please reconsider this. The implications in WvW aren’t good. (Perma stealth thieves opening portals.) It was also something that was really cool and unique to the Mesmer. As someone who doesn’t even play Mesmer, I don’t want to see the portal just become a generic skill that everyone can have.
Note that each portal is single use, takes a lot of resources to make, and we don’t even know if you CAN use it in WvW yet. We don’t even know if a thief places one, could others use it.
Don’t start panicking until we actually know the item could break stuff. Arenanet isn’t stupid, and I’m sure they’ve thought about this.
You’re right, seeing the fall of a god where we know the basic end result is MUCH more interesting then seeing how the asura’s at Thaumanova BROKE REALITY.
/sarcasm
Maybe it’s me but I’d probably vote for Kiel cause she’s human, (Ascalon, never forget!), and because she’s offering DISCOUNTED WAYPOINTS for 4 weeks. Screw cheaper black lion keys, I’d rather have the cheaper waypoints.
Also, Thaumanova Reactor…. I wanna see that go boom.
Do note that your armor doesn’t break from deaths by falling. Thus, the only costs for the new zone are waypoint’s and if you get killed by one of the Champion events.
Basically, if you die from falling a lot, just ask for a rez, usually people are awesome and will come help you out.
So let’s recap, those who started GW2 earlier then other will always have a higher AP score because of one time events, dailies, monthlies, etc. At least in theory, so long as they keep playing.
Does anyone disagree with the above statement of fact? No? Good.
So, if we consider that, then AP earned from the HoM is simply awarding people who started even earlier regardless of the fact that the points were ‘earned’ in another game.
Honestly, if you’re that concerned about being top scorer on the leaderboards, just shell out the $20 and 1000+ hours of life to get a full HoM, and you can stop complaining about it.
The Guardian is specified in the lore as being a modernization of Paragon/Monk traditions. “Save yourselves!” was one of the Paragon’s most useful shouts back then. I loved the class, regardless what ANet or the playerbase thought of it, and miss my Paragon dearly. Having played a lot both Monk and Paragon Professions back then, I enjoy how the Guardian turned out to be (it’s not a Paladin-like class, not by a longshot, though many still think so.)
To point out, “Save Yourselves” was a WARRIOR skill in GW1, it’s just that Paragons were better at using it.
Personally I’d like to see some sort of Heavy or Medium armor class that uses Halberds/Spears and the like. Some sort of Lancer class type thing. Lots of gap-closer/opener skills and the like.
I’m usually partied up with an elementalist, so I get combo-fields all day long. That said, I usually try to drop my own field-creating skills in front of other players.
I got a Celestial a week ago, and a number of other rares, but never an Abyss. Well, I actually got an Abyss in the first BWE, kinda wish it could have stayed unlocked.
I kinda like my Mini Rytlock, but ultimately my little Red Servitor Golem and Orrian Chicken are my favorites.
3k influence is equal to 3 gold
Might as well do 3 or 4 cof p1 runs with a zerk group (4 warrior 1 mesmers)
Or you could log in, and do something that’s actually fun with your friends. Not everyone wants to or does run a Warrior or Mesmer.
Or you can take the extra influence and unlock bigger guild vaults, guild weapon/armorsmiths…
Why, you could even unlock the other missions, and then, go to Lion’s Arch and ask complete strangers to help your small guild complete the mission! You never know, you might even make new friends.
Ultimately, would you guys really prefer ANet had NOT added the Bounty Training Missions? They didn’t have to add it, and tbh, I didn’t think they actually would add something that small guilds can do. Or at least I didn’t think they’d add something this quickly.
Personally I like the guild staff skin. The cheap one that’s like, 30 silver and can be applied to any other staff in the game.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_Staff
Simple, clean, and displays my guild’s emblem.
It’s an extra 1000 influence per day, essentially, for small guilds. That’s awesome for small guilds that don’t earn oodles just from members logging in and doing their own thing.
The entire point of training missions is so small guilds earn influence faster and can actually stand a chance of unlocking some of the other missions/upgrades.
My advice would be to make friends with some other people who play the game. Half the fun of this game is just exploring, running around doing events with your buddies.
Warrior’s do more damage, and do have ‘better’ ranged weapons, (Guardians can do ranged damage, just not as much as other classes), but they aren’t nearly as hard to kill as a Guardian is, and I personally find my Guardian a lot more fun then my Warrior.
That said, try both, you might enjoy both classes, or neither. tbh If you’ve spent 20+ hours re-rolling classes I’d have thought you’d have tried the two ‘Soldier’ classes by now.
Honestly, I’d suggest a Guardian. They can be fairly hard to kill, do decent damage, and they don’t look half-bad doing it. The only downside to them is they don’t do so well in ranged combat, compared to some of the other classes. (Most of the others, tbh.)
I’d love to go back and playthrough some of the earlier missions. Have an actual reason to go back to Divinity’s Reach….
You want to do WHAT to my Undead Baby Chicken? -.-
I’d rather they just add more personal storyline. Maybe more storyline that takes you back to your race’s City?
I mean, you spend like 20 levels of the storyline helping your city, then you’re just like… ‘Right, Ima go help all the Order’s take on the big dragon, good luck against those Centaur/Nightmare/Sons of Svanir/Etc, kthxbai!’
And then you never really get a good reason to go back to your city. Which makes me sad.
Lexandro, that’s the entire point I think. YOU don’t like them, so you don’t think they’re worth the 119g cost. That’s fine. But other people do like them, or just want to be in a ‘rare’ armor skin, so they WILL buy them.
The entire point is that the skin is rare. It’s made more rare because it’s not exotic so less people buy it.
I personally am saving up for the T3 Human cultural for my Guardian. Why? Because I like the armor skin, and don’t have much else I really need the gold for atm.
Honestly, if he wants to have a single character to play instead of 8 different ones, there IS the option of deleting a character, or all of them.
But if he actually wants a refund…. well, I hope ANet gets a laugh out of any request like that. Sadly, they probably would refund him, because ANet is generally awesome.
No. Guild Wars 1 was fine for over seven years with a level cap at 20. We don’t need a higher level cap. The time would be better spent making more armor/weapon skins and more personal storyline.
