I’m fairly certain at this point that Scarlet is trying to find an Elder Dragon in order to confront it violently for mentally tormenting her. But I believe she’s simply obeying its orders and is too far gone to know it.
À la Illusive Man
Scarlet is the Illusive Man
The most painful part of all the Living Story stuff up until this point is sitting behind the screen knowing I could do it so much better.
So guys, Colin said that one out of every bajillion people guessed the general way this whole deal ends, but he also said everyone else was mostly deriding them. So that means it has to be one of those ideas that people see as unlikely.
So I’ve got:
1. She’s a dragon minion
2. Something to do with the Mursaat
3. She’s really good or something (My bet is or something…)
4. Something to do with Abaddon (I said unlikely not good)
5. Wants to protect/control the dragons but is not their minion
6. Wants to destroy the dream/pale tree
7. Wants to create a new race (Possibly not exclusive from others)
8. Kiel is the mastermind – Traveller.7496 (For Gnashblade!)
9. Time Travel – Rich Fuel.7253
10. Scalert…becomes an Elder Dragon? – Bau Bau.7389 (Why the kitten not?)
11. Scarlet is a timelord – Getefix.9150
12. She wants to change the Eternal Alchemy, I guess – Xarius.6120
13. Steam creatures – Blurk.6231
14. She was replaced/controlled/altered by a demon – zamalek.2154
15. Scarlet IS the Pale Tree – Elbegast.6970 (Probably neck and neck as good as Anet’s plan)
16. Snaff is still alive, Scarlet is a disguised golem built by him to take revenge on Logan. – webtoehobbit.4201 (Even more Anet quality than no. 15)
Anyone else got one for the list? Remember, Colin said everyone told the people who guessed it right that they couldn’t possibly be right, so go ahead and say anything ridiculous.

We can only hope they are.
Thought the VIP thing was never happening btw.
But forcing PVP into a PVE achievement, or vise versa, is always, I repeat, always bad. There is no arguing that.
It’s not a PvE achievement.
You’ll find it in the General tab, under the Hero section.
It’s, quite literally, 95% PVE.
Not exactly. 95% of the achievement’s required explorable locations exist in zones where there is only PvE.
Yet, it doesn’t even include all the PvE, as it disregards Southsun Cove.
Exploring the mists isn’t WvW at all, either. It’s PvE in a WvW zone.
So you’re saying we should consider it 93% PVE?
This is just nitpicking.

I’ve been saying this since the first two weeks of the game when I realized it myself.
Having mixed PVP and PVE activities is fine in and of itself. But forcing PVP into a PVE achievement, or vise versa, is always, I repeat, always bad. There is no arguing that.
That being said, I don’t believe they will change it simply because I’ve been here since the BWE and the head start watching it remain the same.
For all the good things about ArenaNet, they are so bad at polish and bug fixing that it’s nothing short of astounding. I’m sure they could do it, of course, but it’s like they just don’t feel it’s worth devoting resources to.
This isn’t a bug, it’s a design flaw and a glaringly obvious one. To compound the issue is the fact that Colin said he didn’t feel it needed to be changed. There’s no chance of changing it once one of the head guys says nada.
Still, I won’t quit over it. But I do block it out of my mind when I look at that medal, forever stuck at 95%. Could I do it? Probably. Will I? Never. I made a pact. I will never enter WvW at all until it’s changed. And I’ll be happy to continue that till the servers shut down. But that part of the achievement is not happening.

Honestly, that sounds like more of a personal problem than anything. If you’re perfectly capable of doing it but don’t want to, no one can make you, and that’s just fine.
The point is that it shouldn’t be that way and even though I know it probably won’t change, I refuse to do it on principle.

What exactly is happening at the Wizard’s Tower at Wizard’s Fief? It has been suggested that the wizard is providing elementals to the town but…why? Is there something nefarious happening here? Is he evil?
Is this Scarlet’s home of operations?
I’m just curious because in the grand lore scheme of Tyria, here we have this recluse with magical powers acting rather wierd. Would like some background on this
That is another thing. So many years, two games, and yet no answers.
Mystery is a good thing, but I think the tower’s has existed for long enough. Time to explore.
Well I, for one, would like to know about the human gods and why they really left Tyria. Where are they?
Do they know about the dragons?
Are they afraid of the dragons?
What are they doing now?
During the personal story it’s implied Grenth knew about Zhaitan and was not too happy.
I would quit. Guild Wars 1 combat was catastrophically bad.
There WILL be an expansion. NCSoft has repeatedly said such. Don’t let the misinformation cloud your judgment. LS was never intended to replace real expansions, not that it ever could.
You are the one misinforming people. The LS was supposed to be the replacement if according to them it was a success. And while many hate the LS successfully it might have done what it needed to do, while in the meanwhile destroying the game.
Anyway, here is the source:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-07-03-its-unlikely-guild-wars-2-will-ever-get-an-expansion-pack“If we do this right,” he answered, “we will probably never do an expansion and everything will be going into this Living World strategy.”
There’s your answer right there. They DIDN’T do it right. Perk up, you have an expansion to look forward to, thank the six.

Charr tier 3 as an example clips right through shields.
Guys, this is amateurish at this point. I understand having priorities but it’s been more than half a year that shields have just not worked right with charr armor.
Are you planning on fixing this?
The Mad King Thorn costume is one of the best looking sets ever. Lemme use it as armor, kthx.
Scarlet is a Sylvari engineering prodigy with several degrees from Rata Sum.
Anise hides the real queen Jennah.
The Abaddon fractal was the only thing that mattered in this election. Thaumanova is garbage and so are the temporary reductions. No one cares even remotely about the RP nature of this election. It was about adding the Abaddon fractal and that is an absolute incontestable fact.
And now it’s gone. Anyone who supported Kiel should be ashamed and should leave.
Right now.
Generic negative comment!
This is getting sad.
WoW’s LFG tool was fantastic. The moment I never have to say LFG again, is the moment I’m in heaven.
Will we get them?
I despise fractals.
Konig,
On your post above, the living story is going to be used to open the map and get the next dragons and possibly the other continents. These was a dev talking about it a few weeks back that is what they are going to try to do. Currently this is their plan and will not be doing expansions if it works out the way they want it too.
Well…
Yeah, 9000 points is completely out of line. Playing since launch and I only have 2500.
The argument that it’s supposed to be something you achieve is immediately invalid because you don’t really ‘achieve’ something in a video game. It’s just an arbitrarily big number that I now have to grind.
Living Story is pretty much just the episodes of Naruto after the Sasuke fight, but before Shippuden. Or the Zanpakuto spirits arc from Bleach. It’s just filler till the next Elder Dragon.
Obviously. What they’re doing with the living story isn’t too shabby at all. But without a massive boxed expansion on the horizon, they might as well shut down the game. I’m sure they realize this already and have been working on it for quite some time. Colin did make it quite clear that the living story team is only a fraction of the developers they have.
Expansions are vital, because just imagine Primordus introduced in a F&F style living story update. Talk about weak.
That fact that they didn’t launch with 2h axes is the worst part of this game.
I want 2h axes rite nao.
I got a ticket and my greatsword. I love this patch.
Well, the exodus actually occurs something like 1000 years before the dragons awaken. It should also be noted that the dragons regularly rise, destroy, and slumber, whereas the human gods came to Tyria with the humans in tow from another place entirely.
So, agony is a generic, but not at all bad way to create gating in dungeons without statistical progression in gear. But being that mostly only ascended items can make use of it and that ascended items only exist for 6 slots at this point in time, what will become of it?
What I mean is, will agony resistance be necessary for other ascended equipment such as armor and weapons? What about if agony does not exist beyond Fractals? It’s far too costly for us to re-infuse our armor for future gating mechanics, if that’s even a thing, which I do not know. But will agony then be a mechanic in every dungeon from here onward?
I’m perplexed by what role it will play. Because ascended items are a time sink to obtain and not simple to infuse. I highly doubt ArenaNet would make it this way if they intended to introduce new gating mechanics.
You should have a daily achievement for running a specified dungeon in explorable mode.
Maybe the reward could be triple the regular once a day reward. There needs to be incentive to return to places that get little traffic, like Arah, Crucible of Eternity, and Sorrow’s Embrace.
I’ve been skimped on fused and sclerite weapon tickets because the whole RNG based thing just didn’t fly with me. Now, don’t get me wrong, the whole lottery thing is a surefire way of rackin’ up dem sales. But I saw that jade greatsword and I needs me some jade greatsword.
So what do I have to do Anet? Do I have to rendezvous with Colin in the park? Wear a suit and sunglasses? Carry a briefcase with 10 dollars in pennies? Walk past him and hand it off as he slips me an envelope with an access code?
I needs me some jade greatsword.
p1 was never impossible, in fact, it hasn’t changed since launch.
p2 is actually easier now. All the stuff that spawns are white mobs, and die in a couple of hits. The only silvers are the assassins, which don’t even damage you.
The only thing that can be annoying is the defend event in p3, because that are actually all silvers that can hurt like hell.
Oh, well, I’m glad to hear about that event being less kitten. But I will certainly not agree that P1 was the same. Couldn’t even dent the purple thing back in the day. Now it’s faceroll.
I was out from December through February. What happened to Magg’s path? And what the kitten happened to P1? That path was impossible originally.
But about P2, did they make it undoable or just unattractive? I remember back when they changed the kite event to something incredibly stupid. Did they tighten it even further with Hrouda’s terrible ’you’re supposed to fight never ending silver mobs’ design?
I have a theory. I think that ascended armor and weapons will come with the expansion. Regardless of what it’s about story wise, I feel like the addition of ascended armor and weapons is too meaty for one content update.
So, the six gods came to Tyria and brought the humans with them from ‘somewhere’. It’s heavily implied that wherever they came from was not doing so great.
I want to pose a question. Considering the combined might of the human gods, what horrible machinations or entities could force such a pantheon to turn tail and run?
You pretty much described Orr temples, which exist.
Orr temples would be like itsy bitsy little events by comparison.
So, I thought I would throw down an idea I had and see if any dev might like it. I would like to preface this by saying that it’s an idea, not something I’m super dedicated to seeing fulfilled. And I would like to mention that it’s not the desire to simply see raid dungeons implemented.
That being said, let’s keep this short and concise, well sort of, not really…
My idea is that a zone be introduced that acts more like a public dungeon than anything else. This sort of ‘raid zone’ would be intended strictly for groups of people. Multiple, mind you. There would be silver mobs as well as champions.
In this zone, there would be several different strategic base camps which would start off completely under hostile control. There would be no camp which by default was friendly. And these camps would show up on the map. Each would be guarded by a different champion mob and several packs of silver mobs. Each champion would be a different creature, with different mechanics. It would not be tank and spank. The irony of that term is not lost on me.
World completion markers such as Skill Points probably would not exist there. But I could see Points of Interest, Waypoints, and Vistas. However, Waypoints would be available automatically at camps controlled, with only one that is always under player control near the entrance to this zone.
Player controlled sites would be subject to assaults by enemies in an effort to retake them as this is a nonstop zone. And should players control all camps, the enemies will retreat and regroup to make a last stand. As they begin to lose, some big bad comes out of insert location and provides a Shatterer-esque encounter. Only in this case it has numerous mobs and truly challenging mechanics. I’m sure you’re wondering what those mechanics might be, well, so am I. I have an idea, not a research paper.
Upon completion, everyone is rewarded for killing the end boss and separately for their contribution from start to finish of the whole thing. Being there from the beginning will have to give enormously better rewards than showing up to fight the end boss.
Then the zone lies dormant for some cooldown period. Maybe 12-24 hours.
The idea is that it’s a zone, but dungeon-like. It’s essentially one super duper omega event.
I bought gold in World of Warcraft. I’m not ashamed to say it. Blizzard honestly deserved it for Mists of Pandaria.
I’m just glad I can get gold through more clean dealings in Guild Wars. It lets me wash my hands of black markets.
John, I do hope that the money from Gem Store purchases goes to ArenaNet and not NCSoft. I Know you can’t say it publically, but NCSoft are odd bedfellows, certainly not ideal.
More or less. I just can’t imagine not adding the Tengu. They practically say they’re about to open up.
I was in Caledon Forest and reached the Dominion of Winds entrance to get a skill point on my alt. I love lore, because it’s basically what makes a game have a soul, so I knew about the Tengu and how they were hiding in their own territory.
But as I sat there, I began to draw comparisons almost instinctively to WoW. I felt like I was staring at the entrance to what would become the Ghostlands circa 2006 Eastern Plaguelands. And the Tengu reminded me of the blood elves that stood infront of the then blocked off roadway.
What’s my point? Well, if nostalgia and déjà vu aren’t your thing, then there isn’t one. But one thing I can say is that it’s coming. I can feel it.
And kitten does it feel good.
The buy button is always grayed out. Also can’t preview.
Whatever dev happens across this, please take note. I spent money on both the [Molten Alliance Mining Pick] and the [Consortium Harvesting Sickle] because I was elated at the idea of gathering tools that don’t expire.
That being said, I know all the games. I know all the tricks. Do not in the future introduce some higher material for which these tools are useless and then sell essentially the same thing. It is at that point I would take my online business elsewhere.
I do not imply that you will, only that the temptation may exist. But it’s a dirty trick and I feel the need to make you aware of that—hopefully—before the idea pops into your heads.
New gem store armor skins.
Enjoy your ban.
I recently got a set of Dreadnought armor, aka Rytlock’s armor, for my charr warrior. But I noticed that the little skulls on my charr’s neck texture are clipping through the chestplate texture. I know it’s just a minor aesthetics issue, but it’s just so annoying to look at. I mean the armor is cultural, so it was literally designed for this race to wear. So can’t you figure out a way to make it work? I mean, you could set the visibility of the necklace to off or something when armor is worn.
I missed the first two months of it. I’m not really sure what Flame and Frost actually is. I’ve never seen an MMO do something like it before.
I’ve been gone since like November because I’ve been really busy. Can someone gimme an exotics vs ascended gear breakdown?
Still having this issue. Devs, please notice. It’s incredibly annoying.
