Ranger class kicked from WvW and PvE

Not every class/build is viable for all content.

You can’t expect to play a PVT Bearbow and be taken into raids. The fact that the ranger does have viable builds for all content modes (with exception of extremely high dps burst like fractal 40 farm), puts it far above the list when compared to some other classes.

Rangers might not always be the optimal class, but we have 9 classes and for each particular task only 3-5 end up being optimal.

Dragonball = Zero fun

Problems with Dragon Ball:

1) Matchmaking seems completely random. After a game where both teams were relatively evenly matched (400+ vs 500 as ending score) the top players from both teams ended up being lumped into the same team. Predictable blowout followed, with half of the losing team dropping half way through the match.

2) Snowballing matches – While I have seen games turned around, it is extremely uncommon. Most of the time once a team is decked on powerups while other one is not, the team with no powerups has almost no chances.

3) Team switching not encouraged at all. It offers 25 rank points (ha ha?) some sort of festival reward. Very obviously this has not been touched for a long time.

4) Achievement hunting in a time limited festival makes most of the people be more interested in getting their achieves instead of trying to win the games. What do I care if we win or lose? I will sit on the edge and wait for another stealth/quad damage powerup or run around in circles eating all health bubbles I can for the achieve.

5) Achievement requirements are out of whack. I have played normally for the first week trying to score wins. I came short on interrupts and severely short on healing. While first one was easily correctable, I am still 5000 health short of the last achieve. I am sure this is partly stemming from #4, but healing was an issue in previous years too.

In conclusion: I would kindly ask ANet to dedicate a couple of weeks of their development time to make this yearly festival more interesting. Even if you insist on making DB the centerpiece of it, please rebalance the activity and achievements to make it more fun for the players.

People really have short memories. The ‘heavy only’ fractal groups were a big thing a couple of years ago in fractals. PuGs do not organize based on the highest damage or the fastest complete times. They organize based on the current flavor of the month (FotM pun intended) class that can deliver decent results while being as hard to mess up as possible.

A brain dead viper necro spamming scepter 1 and running epidemic while specced into parasitic contagion is very hard to mess up until you do CM100. And in PuGs you always have to assume the worst – that the player you will be grouping with will only be able to press 2-3 buttons total. So you go with lowest risk classes (which atm is the condi necro).

I have zero doubt that a competent power group or optimized condi group will do several times the damage of the kittenty 4+1 group. But when PuGing, you just can’t assume that your groupmates will be competent. And playing with glass eles/thieves/guards that can’t stay alive is a lot more painful than with an unkillable if braindead necro.

On topic: doing the 3 T4 fractals should net you 5-10g easily + matricies + chance at ascended mats + chance at ascended equipment. As much as I hate RNG of it, over long periods of time fractals offer one of the nicest rewards in the game.

There were three separate stages in ascended chest drop rates.
The original after the fractal update was so horrid that after a lot of complaints it was changed.
The second segment you had ascended chests drop non stop – I’d get 1 or 2 per week constantly.
However after another update the ascended crafting materials and BL chest items have been added to the drop table and the ascended chest drop rates tanked again.

I average 1 ascended chest every 2-3 weeks since that update. Some weeks I’ll get 2 chests, most I get none.

Fractal Alt choice?

Thief – zerker gear – d/d SB staff d/p

Good if you are good at it. Good thief can play pretty much all fractals melee without issues. However not amazing carry potential, so will depend on how crappy your group is. If not played well you will be dead more often than not.

Elementalist – soldiers – Staff

Useless. Elementalist is primarily damage class in PvE, so soldiers gear ele is as bad, if not worse than an empty group slot. To make useful, swap to full zerk. Worth noting that zerk ele is super squishy so once again, skill will be required even if in staff.

Guardian – soldiers – Staff s/s

Again, soldiers set in PvE is practically useless. Few bosses can be anchored, but most of the time it is not worth it to do so. Switch to zerk. Likely use hammer as primary weapon due to high group support ability. Haven’t played mine in fractals for a while, so not sure what else they use.

Necro – (don’t remember exactly which set) condi – staff scepter dagger?

Likely the best choice. High survivability, decent damage, easy to play, can carry fairly well if well played. In danger of getting nerfbatted on epidemic, which will hurt.

Out of classes/gearsets provided I’d go with necro followed by thief. Also note that since infusion extractors are relatively cheap, you can always swap between them by extracting the infusions if you realize that you’ve settled on the wrong class.

If it isn’t, MF could be changed to be a logarithmic curve. The first 150% helps out much more than the next 150%, but the decline isn’t too noticeable until after ~220% MF or so. It would make it so that new players aren’t feeling “left out” since its relatively easy to get to around 150% MF through regular play, and people would see noticeable differences between 0 MF and 150 MF. After that, people who keep increasing it will still see better rewards, but not enough to make it seem unfair to new players.

You have some base chance of having a yellow drop, lets say 1%. With 100% MF you have 2%. With 200% MF – 3%, 400% MF – 5%. So by getting from 0% to 200% MF you triple your chance of getting a yellow. But by going from 200% to 400% you only increase it by 60%. On top of this MF requires progressively more luck per percent MF. So yes, it is already not really worth it to push luck past ~200% which is reasonably obtainable with random salvaging.

I concur. We should get an option to remove the tails. Also the ears constantly clip. We should get an option to remove them too. The strange posture and paws causing issues – we should adjust them to be more human like. Eh to heck with it – we’ll just make them human with mostly cat faces (might make those human too, just to make sure helms don’t clip). There – redesigned charr to get rid of all the armor issues!

Raids (currently) limit you to druid/elementalist/warrior/mesmer and maybe guardian.

While elementalist is top damage, I am hesitant to recommend it as it is extremely squishy which makes it fairly difficult to carry crappy PuGs in places like high level fractals. Also I am hesitant to recommend a DPS class when so many classes are competing for that raid spot (although so far eles have done exceptionally well in that regard)

Mesmer is a staple, but suffers from likely lowest solo dps in the game which can be plain painful to solo with. Not to say its not doable, but I personally found it a lot less pleasant solo than in a group.

Druid currently offers unparalleled healing, and reasonable class specific buffs, making it desirable in group content. It can also fall back on silly bearbow for soloing stuff while afk.

Warrior offers unparalleled boons (might, ea and banners) which makes it another staple in group content. If played well it is arguably one of the (if not the) strongest solo class, even though you would likely need to learn to melee (which isn’t that hard considering the amount of blocks/evades and sheer bulk warrior can pack)

So personally I would recommend a druid or a warrior.

It is also worth noting that any advice given is only good for the current balance. There is nothing to say that the next patch or next expansion will not turn the class balance upside down.

Few things:

1) Try to be concise. If it takes 2 full posts to get your point across, chances are you are ranting. Most people will read such very long post as a rant, not as a constructive post.

2) An “Exp” run does (usually) imply the kill or near kill on the boss by all members of the raid. All mechanics should be known. Most groups will demand kill proofs.

3) Entry level on raids is bad, to this I agree. Most dungeon groups demanded that people knew how to speedrun them. If you didn’t, you got kicked. Raids upped the ante by increasing the number of people to 10 and being far less forgiving to new people.

4) If you aren’t willing to do training runs (see post by Amaimon for what I think is an excellent opportunity), then be prepared to be kicked. Most people do not want to risk spending 3+ hours on a boss and not kill it at the end of the day, which is a real risk when running with new people. They would rather clear 2-3 full wings in that time in an experienced group.

Bottom line is this – if you want people to respect your time, you have to respect theirs.

Most druids will have limitation of shedding the conditions (once fully on avatar entry + possibly signet if carried). Additionally as long as they are off Rampage as One, they have almost no way to avoid being beaten senseless after a well placed stun.

Almost perfect counter to a druid is a condi warrior, but since condi builds (in general) largely got phased out of meta this season in favor of power builds, the druids started to seem overpowered. The perceived druid overpoweredness is more of a playing field issue than a class issue.

Remember that one of the concerns people had on release of HoT was the fact that Mordremoth’s name was assumed to be known with no introduction whatsoever before the release (short of Subject Alpha’s ability’s name, which is hardly an in-game explanation!). I think this is simply a way to set up for the name release in some way.

However the way it was dropped puzzles me. If our character knows the name, they should have ‘helped’ Taimi with it, if not, they could have at least shown a bit of interest in it/information on it, as we will likely have to fight it at a later date, even if it’s not a priority right now.

For the remainder of the post – you do have a point. The storytelling is a bit disjoined and there are a LOT of loose ends in it. However as ANet has demonstrated with White Mantle, they do try to tie/expand on those when they can. If anything, as time progresses we are getting a bit more of a cohesive narration. I suspect that with White Mantle in spotlight (especially certain C person), we might get a final resolution to the throne of Kryta plot line (hopefully including calming of the ghosts of Ascalon)

I suspect that the (fairly outrageous) prices of the ascended gear is due to the ability to bypass leveling the crafting skills. Which makes them largely useless for anyone who has the said skills leveled.

Alternatively they are banking on prices of ascended mats going through the roof which would make these competitive.

Raids and build snobbery

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zania.8461

Zania.8461

If a build works in dungeons or fractals, it does not mean it will work in raids. Unlike all other team PvE content, raids are time gated, which requires minimum amount of DPS from entire raid group. If you aren’t doing it, someone else will have to.

Not to say that straying off-meta is impossible. The question is how much damage will you sacrifice for it, and what impact that will make on the raid damage overall. Sacrificing 10% damage for ability to stay alive will likely not be noticeable. In fact I suspect that vast majority of PuGs have players with far worse damage than that. A lot of timers are generous. However for those few that aren’t, you might consider swapping your build anyway.

To see how much damage the build you are comfortable with is losing, test it against the training golem. Hard numerical data is good. Compare to damage done by meta build/rotation.

Personal opinion follows:

If you are logging on just for daily AP, stop. You are no longer enjoying the game, you are doing it as a grind, burning yourself out even farther. Take a break for half a year. Come back then and replay the old content which you are no longer dead tired of as well as the new content that will be released in that time.

ANet would benefit as well – a burned out person who is logging on just for daily rewards is unlikely to spend $ in the gem store. It is far better to have happy customers that take breaks rather than burned out grumpy ones that don’t.

I have taken breaks from GW2 (two breaks for 3+ months at a time with several shorter ones). Still enjoy playing a game that does not require you to log in daily to stay even remotely competitive. /filthycasual

3k hours on thief I have 50 vs 50 chance against a lot of ppl at my level skill
2 days on guardian I have about 100% win rate vs the same ppl
Guardian is so easy to play that it is embarassing

Thieves have second to non mobility, and thus are largely used for decaps and adding on to an existing fight to spike down the enemy.

Guardians have crap for mobility and are used to face smash enemies and/or to bunker pressure people off points/hold points.

I am not sure why you are surprised that you find it easier to kill things on a guardian.

Also after certain amount of time of playing this game, you learn mechanics well enough that swapping classes does not handicap you too much. Can you go from never playing a guard to being best guard ever? Likely not. But if you invested 3+k hours in the game you will not start from the bottom of the pile either.

Caithe. (LVS3 Possible Spoilers)

in Living World

Posted by: Zania.8461

Zania.8461

Oh, if the discussion is whether Caithe is somewhat off in the head, I have made a post on that a while back – her love story with Faolin (especially as presented in LS2) is the proof enough of that. My whole point was that she was certainly not evil, just tries to rely on her own (often poor) judgment too much.

One thing I’d like to disagree on is PT-Caithe relationship. Two points:
1) PT is literally the Mother of all sylvari. As in, their pods grew on the PT. She shaped them to look like humans (or so it was claimed, with more recent evidence it is highly debatable)
2) PT and her opinion are held in the extremely high regard by all (non Mordermguard or NC) sylvari. So if PT feels that the secret is worth hiding not only from Trahearne but also from the sylvari PC who had the Wyld Hunt to fight Mordremoth, I don’t see any sylvari deciding otherwise. Especially not one who just got forgiven for past transgression (PT really didn’t take Wynne’s death too well. Can’t say I blame her – has Caithe realized that Faolin is beyond saving anytime during LS2’s flashbacks, she could have easily saved Wynne and crippled NC at the same time by stabbing a different plant).

PT is playing a strange game – she is presented as purely benevolent flora, but she is as, if not more so, secretive than Caithe. No information is surrendered without absolute need. Sylvari PC should have been warned way in advance about what they were up against instead of leaving it for them to discover the information themselves. Scarlet could have been saved (and Mordy’s rise postponed) if the PT tried communicating with her earlier (if nothing else, Scarlet breaking should have signaled that other sylvari need an emergency briefing). There was plenty of time between Scarlet waking up Mordy and attack on PT to prepare sylvari, or at least warn others about their weakness. PT chose not to do so. Even later she regained her consciousness several times for long enough to warn people. She still did not. PC was left to discover it using memory seeds by which time it was too late to save the fleet.

I feel that both PT and Caithe failed the sylvari race, with PT carrying more blame due to being highest authority for the race.

Caithe. (LVS3 Possible Spoilers)

in Living World

Posted by: Zania.8461

Zania.8461

I stopped trusting her. Left up to me, I wouldn’t let her within two zones of the egg or three zones of the pale tree.

  • She conspired with another sylvari to hide a secret, denying her race and even its leaders/elders a chance to choose their own destiny.
  • When confronted with the threat, she kept that secret, despite the fact that it obviously had huge potential to impact decisions made by her friends, the Commander, the Marshall, the Pact, and Tyria generally.
  • She unilaterally decided that she knew better than anyone else how to protect the egg.
  • She fails to show up to Eir’s funeral.
  • She waits until the commander (aka Poohbah) is in danger before even attempting an apology. And let’s be clear: it wasn’t an apology. In effect, she said she’s sorry she got caught and that she’d make the same choices again.

*No better or worse than Pale tree who knew she was a dragon minion from the start. If the Pale tree deemed it a secret worth keeping from every sylvari, who was Caithe to decide otherwise?
*Once again, the Pale Tree had ample opportunity to warn Trahearne who she obviously cared for, but didn’t do so. Caithe has every reasonable doubt to not want to go over her Mother’s wishes.
*Yes, everyone makes decisions on the spot. Having one part of you say ‘save the egg’ while the a dragon is pounding in your head telling you to submit CAN cloud one’s judgment. Even Canach is willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, and he is not known for his love for firstborn.
*True, but the reason for that is unknown. Also note that other than Rytlock, no one else seemed to be even aware the funeral was happening. At least Rox was completely taken by surprise. Braham might have not even contacted Caithe.
*She is definitely not very good in social setting. While well meaning, her attempt to bring Destiny’s Edge together in PS was a horrible failure – she can’t read people very well. And she does try to explain herself and is obviously feeling bad about the whole thing.

So yeah, I’d give her a benefit of the doubt. Also note, she did try to go to the Pale Tree between Mordy’s death and Bloodstone Fen, looking for guidance. So it is highly unlikely she is the danger to PT, and she is obviously no longer quite as sure in her path as she was before.

What are divisions meant to represent?

I’ve had exactly the same question pop up once I read that post. Unless the divisions are going to get redesigned or removed completely, the only way to advance will be to horribly tank your MMR; ride a streak to the next tier, then tank MMR again. Obviously easier to do if you have higher MMR to start with, but I highly doubt that’s the intended way of progressing through the ranks.

Practically I think that the system will have to be redesigned altogether if they want to use MMR with no rank restrictions for matchmaking.

I currently see two easy ways of addressing the issue. One is to make t5 dust a lot more abundant, as it will drop the prices and make upgrading shards to orbs feasible. The other is to allow more things to be turned into gemstones. I would say it would make a nice sink for all those currently undesired rare t5 materials that sell for less than 20c a piece.

He said, he didn’t join those groups. He was stereotyped for knowing a lot due to this high AP and mastery points.

Original post is more than a little unclear. I drew my conclusions based on the following:

Peoples target me or type -_- or ….. . When i ask what they want they say you should know ur +11k ap master level 129.

OP is obviously getting ridiculed for not knowing something by a portion of a population. Note, it is impossible to get targeted outside of party or raid, so I am assuming that he is in one when asking questions.

Sorry i got my achiments and master levels from other game modes.

I am assuming the OP is not a primarily PvE player as 1) This is a Raid/Fractal forum and 2) It is far more likely for PvE player to assume that another player should have knowledge of PvE if they have 10k+ AP.

I never joined games called “exp” or “meta zerk”.

This makes me conclude that he joined a ‘game’ (likely group) that was ’exp’and/or ‘meta zerk’ before getting the above-mentioned comments.

I could very well be wrong or reading too much into the post. But that was my interpretation of it.

1-3 AP for [insert random hard stuff like gold medal in a difficult adventure] – 10 AP for 2 games of skyhammer server a day.

What some people miss is that many people don’t care if it devalues “real one time achievements”.

Hint: those “real, one time achievements” are nothing to boast about. Try telling someone in or out of game that you got one and see if you get more than a blank look. It’s only the hard core achievement hunters who care even the slightest.

Are you implying that telling someone that you’ve chopped down trees in Kryta/did Harathi Hinterlands events/farmed Shatterer or did other equivalent tasks for 3+ years going to get you ‘ooohs’ and ‘aaahs’?

APs should mean something other than ‘did brainless tasks for x days’. And yes, I would be a lot more impressed by someone getting gold in every HoT adventure than I would be by someone who excelled at daily tree chopping.

It is often a bad idea to join groups if you do not know what the description of the party means. If unclear, ask the map chat. Most people in LA will be more than willing to explain everything as chances are, they aren’t horribly busy. Furthermore, you (unfortunately) picked the worst group to ask to explain things to you – generally groups with that description are attempting to run through the content as quickly as possible, so most players will not be in the mood to explain what the description means.

With regards to the description: Exp usually means ‘experienced’ thus expects you not only to have done content before, but done it more than once. ‘Meta zerk’ means that the party is expecting all people joining to be using damage oriented builds/gear which have been generally accepted by the community (how actually good some of those builds are is debatable).

Fractals- Best content Anet ever created

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Zania.8461

Zania.8461

The biggest issue with fractals is the fact that players are picking the path of least resistance to get their daily chest.

This, however is just a symptom which has several underlying causes.
1) Time. It is simply the fastest way to be done with your daily fractal.
2) Reward. Most people do 50+ daily for the chest reward, NOT for the encryption boxes (which do drop more from non-swam fractals).
3) Ease. Simply put the exploited Mossman (which will hopefully get fixed) provides little to no challenge even for the really poor PuGs.

I see two ways to address this.

One is a brute force method (make the daily to be a set of 3 specific fractals). This method has the advantage of immediately negating all the above issues. Simply put this will roll things back to pre-HoT method with advantage of people not being locked in the same group for all fractals.

The drawback is the randomly generated fractal system. If the previous system is used (draw of an easy, medium and long fractals, from same pools as pre-HoT), I will likely not dare to PuG the days when you end up with PuG hell combos like 59+64.

Alternatively, you can actually try balancing the fractals. This method will be a real pain, but theoretically could result in much better results. Add unique (and desired) drops to ‘bad’ fractals. Make time differences for fractal completions less severe. Work over large number of instabilities that make some of the fractals unnecessary punishing.

This way people who are interested in knocking out the daily fast will still have the ability to do so (likely new choices past Mossman fix will be something like Bloomhunger + mawx2), and people who are willing to spend more time and get better rewards can do the longer fractals for them. It won’t change the speed-daily meta but it will push part of the population to the currently less-desired fractals.

A well played zerk necro is a perfectly valid addition to a high level fractal PuG. You have enormous sustain, which will help in poor groups, while having reasonable damage. You have reasonable healing and downed player support through blood magic line. If crap hits the fan you can also swap out spite for soul reaping and go from having enormous sustain to crazy sustain (can solo hold one of the arm seals in 94 indefinitely if careful).

Also do not hesitate to swap back to the base necro for things where you will likely end up needing a reasonable amount of ranged damage.

Note that this is not the best class/build for a meta group or speed running group, but for PuGs it is perfectly viable.

I know this will get buried in this huge thread with only a few people reading it. But the addition of these slots makes the addition of ‘key chain’ item even more pressing. We have 4 key types in HoT, 2 in pre-HoT areas and a scattering of other ones in Core Tyria (Aetherblade keys, Dwarven keys, heck black lion keys).

Please add a key-ring item (preferably for a reasonable price) that will contain all of these items. By doing so, you will make having the shared slots more useful and actually close to being worth the price.

On an unrelated note, sharing the harvesting tools is still a pain. Unless they are usable directly from the shared slot, I am highly unlikely to ever use the shared slots for tool storage.

During LS1, ANet has stated that Marionette was their attempt at pushing people to learn how to play better. I feel similar attempt has been made with raids. However, for this to work the raids have to start at the current difficulty level (low) and then ramp up the difficulty.

Large portion of population will be too put off by the sudden jump in difficulty on entry to try getting better because they’ll simply feel that the plank is set too high for them. Gradual increase in difficulty will also allow for easier development of raid teams, and their improvement as a whole and not individuals.

The other part is lack of individual progress tracking tools. Yes, damage meters. Again. Currently there is no way for me to see if my damage is improving or not by swapping gear/consumables/traits in any measurable way. Best we can do is theorycraft which can be quite inaccurate for some of the more mechanically challenging encounters.

Finally, I think that trying to lump people into either ‘casual’ or ‘hardcore’ category does not work. Personal skill level, ability to learn, class knowledge, ability to function as part of the team, willingness to fail, amount of time the person can play, the maximum stretch of uninterrupted gameplay, internet connection and a number of other factors seem to somehow be distilled down to calling someone hardcore or casual. The result ends up being entirely too subjective and open for interpretation.

Will ascended salvaging ever be addressed?

I doubt it. On the other hand, infused rings actually salvage at decent rate. I spent several of my shards upgrading my non infused rings just to salvage them.

Otherwise, there is still a way to make ~5s by selling them to vendor.

Is it too late?

Most guilds are looking for new members. Old members can get burned out or have commitments that can interfere with their raiding. However, note that as a new member you will be an unknown. Most guilds will place you either on a backup roster or in the ‘B’ group for raiding. Also your chances of getting a raid spot will likely be influenced by the class(es) you play, how well you can play them and what equipment they have.

As for ‘too late’… It’s never too late. Even late in the expansions for EQ and WoW raid guilds would pickup new members even though the process for gearing them and getting them all necessary attunments was a real pain.

Re: VG fight. Dying at 50% likely has nothing to do with raid damage. Far more likely the raid has not gotten positioning, seeker and breakbar control down so the raid gets wiped by either seekers, or (more likely) green circles. Which is perfectly normal and simply means people need to practice the fight more.

Condi Viable in PvE Now?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Condition caps have been greatly expanded making condition damage a lot more viable.

Before getting overly excited, please consider the following:

Several classes have competitive condition DPS. However the use of conditions depends on two main factors: duration of the fight and enemy’s toughness. Most classes have long ramp up times for their conditions, so if the fight is short, you will be performing sub-optimally. Most enemies have reasonable toughness at which point the power gear is (for most classes) on par or better.

With that said, certain content currently has long and/or high toughness encounters where condition builds shine. Most notable examples are high level fractals (where power gear became very ‘sub-optimal’, although this should change come December) and raids (some of the encounters there being immune to power based damage).

So yes. Viable, and even preferred under certain circumstances. Still, heavily imbalanced across classes (some classes have much better condition damage), and “to be used with care”.

The story was certainly left off hanging.

What happened to the remainder of the Pact? Our character states it’s all but gone, but as an organization is it dissolved? Troops moving back and leaving other dragons to DE2?

What happened to Pale Tree, Grove, Sylvari as a race? Why have we never heard about getting new Wyld Hunts before Caithe poped up with one. Did Trahearne get one after finishing Orr? If not, why? Did our character if they are sylvari?

What was Nightmare Court doing in Maguuma? I highly doubt they just caught a ride or were following Pact like nobles (ha).

What happened to the jungle? Did it lose sentience, or is it going to wither and die turning the landscape into desert? Since sylvari seem to be alive, I will assume the former.

The release of energy on Mordermoth’s death showed to travel not only to the egg but also to other directions (presumably to other dragons). This implies that each dragon we kill will strengthen remaining ones. Was that the case with Zhaitan? Why was there no mention of this at all before?

How are the non-sylvari races hanging? During LS2 a lot of resources were committed to the fight, most of which are now destroyed.

Just how much of the current events are guided by Glint? It appears that our characters are literally following the path laid out by her. Practically every decision we make ends up with us being in the right place at the right time. According to Exalted pretty much entire conflict was foretold by Glint and now we are just going through the motions?

Also

Can someone tell me WHY we bothered with Itzel in VB if only help we got was to track down Braham and Rytlock who found and followed the slave caravan which was our original target without any help?

Still, IMO the storytelling is better, if more railroaded than PS.

I have done every fractal from 1 to 77, but cannot access to 75-100 tier. Why? It depends on the personal reward level. Since I have done them out of order (ie I’ve done 70-77 before some of 50s and 60s), my personal reward level is lagging behind and is only in low 70s. I am sure that for some this disparity is even greater.

Instancing all adventures

One argument against instancing is that entering an instance wipes out your map progress. So doing an instanced adventure on a map where you have a non-zero contribution is going to reset your contribution to zero.

Ideally the contribution reset on entering adventure, as well as that due to disconnect/crash would be fixed, after which I’d fully agree with the notion of instanced adventures.

Raids = good, Timers = bad

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Zania.8461

I disagree. The timer is there to force the raid to bring enough dps. DPS comes at expense of survivability. Thus the timer is a skill check – can the raid survive AND do enough damage at the same time.

Now I also think that countdown timers are boring and can be done away with using either massive regen on the boss (equal to the minimum amount of total raid DPS you require) or stacking a debuff on a raid that becomes lethal regardless of your gear set after enough stacks are reached. However the concept of a time limit is there for a reason.

Dailies

Currently daily fractals do not count towards the 3 daily tasks. I do believe that if they start counting the daily fractal should be removed from the PvE core dailies.

Dailies

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Zania.8461

Greetings. This post is a request for a revamp of the daily system.

As one might recall the daily system has changed multiple times over the life of GW2, and the current system is far from perfect.

Dailies can be awarded through certain game modes (PvE, PvP and WvW). This, in it’s own is fine, however with the recent changes, there should be additional splitting in PvE dailies.

Part of these changes is already in-place in the form of Fractal dailies. As there are 5 random fractal dailies that take considerable amount of complete, I can’t see a good reason why these would not be contributing to PvE daily total.

Second area is almost, if not, more important. This is with respect to the HoT areas. Currently PvE dailies are focused exclusively on core game, forcing the people who want to play in HoT but obtain daily AP into going back into core world. Daily system was promoted into ‘get as you want’, so I think a separate set of daily activities should be made for HoT areas.

Thus the proposed daily system will contain 5 separate pools to draw from:
PvP, WvW, PvE HoT, PvE Core, PvE Fractals.

Ideally, this will be a toggle. I would like to see the game in it’s full sparkliness while running around in the open world, but I just enough FX to know which abilities are being used on harder content when seeing boss animations become important.

Raid questions?

I think 3 is asking if they are only available at certain times? If so, no, they are always available with personal progress (read reward availability) saved after each boss death.

You need to reach tier 4 during the night, with reasonable personal participation. I believe at 200% personal participation the box is guaranteed, with less it is not. Latter fact I have not checked personally.

It is really quite easy even on a semi-organized map. Before choppers land you need at least t2, preferably half way through t2. Past that, kill all night bosses. I have seen a t4 with one boss still up, but that map had exceptional defenses + champ clearing before chopper landing.

I think this is an excellent list for the first iteration. All I am asking is not to stop at this and keep close look, iterating as necessary. I am also sure that the majority of FDR (ha) community will appreciate more communication on the discussion board.

Isnt that kinda the point of the word Iterate?

It is! I am merely worried that the iteration cycles will become too slow. And stating that (at least I) would appreciate more communication so we know where in the iteration cycle they are.
