And? People say they troll but don’t actually troll. People say they are elite, but aren’t actually elite. People say they are OCD but don’t even know what an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is.

The next comment after was “Twitch was thanking you for saving us from watching 15 minutes of one team ramming their head against a wall while the other just spams sustain and invulns that don’t prevent capture contribution.”

He can call what he did a ragequit, but in this case I say its more just realizing that you are about to be 2-0 just like every other losing team because they gave up the first cap and decided to just walk out and save everyone’s time in a broken game. Is frustration there? Likely, but its not gonna be a deciding factor as much as “Am I seriously about to waste 15 minutes again?”

“Sorry for the unprofessionalism but this game is hardly professional in its current state.” That’s the only unprofessional thing I have seen from Moob, but its not like he is wrong either when the proof is in the history of GW2’s PvP.

Leaving an [organized!] tournament match before it ends is unsportmanlike even if you know you are going to lose. End of story.

The jealousy is showing big time.

Yes, the tournament was so organized that they were playing against a 300 ping, and one of their members actually had a legit DC.

Whoa whoa dont blame them, there is no counter for them.

Currently only 1-2 teams actually counter this meta out of 16 and dont blame them for anet not doing there jobs.

I don’t care how bad ANET is at balancing, or how lopsided a match is. There are players in pvp right now that would kill for the opportunity to play in this tournament whether they win or lose. Those member(s) of Zero Counterplay that did rage quit are as pathetic as it gets.

I have no respect for players or teams that rage quit; regardless of the circumstances, the sportsmanship goes right out the window.

How can anyone give excuses to rage quitters.

I agree 100%.
No matter how frustrating it is, you play for league and as such that sort of immature behaviour has no place at all.

From my point of view, the rage-quitter(s) – not the whole team per se – should receive the red card for the next season.

Considering the way this season is going, you really expect that there will be many more ESL seasons for GW2?

Maybe you should get over your jealousy and see the bigger picture here that any decent competitive gaming vet can already see. That is, GW2 as an esport has no future

Youre wrong. Majority of player base doesn’t run 5 man premades, which means its not premade game about good group comps.

Also, if you let hard counters exist, some classes will extinct and we will again be back in “cele meta” with only half of classes playing, because rest will be “hard countered”.

And yet, the devs are pushing for the game to be an esport. Que system supports this also.

I think the point is that if people are sleeping, the map shouldn’t upgrade to t3. Having someone minimally click a button will help in that regard.

Because you know, theres was never an issue with nightcapping or anything where the maps belongs to 1 server and are already fully upgraded by the time you wake up even with manual upgrades. At least auto upgrades give the little guy a chance to defend somewhat.

The lack of players is due in great part to the server system, the old Alpine maps were also empty before the update. Even if they did added waypoint to the new map there is not enough players around to fill them.

I had plenty of players to fight in the old borders, even in the last week before HoT !

And im in T9 EU

I fought like…3-4 guys TOTAL in the new borders (yeah, total…as in, since HoT came out)

The server system is not the problem here !
Its the completly automated upgrades and no WP’s in the side keeps that are hurting us the most ! Both of which are really easy to fix (hell, just slapping an “Upgrade” button on the quartermasters that a player has to press for the tower/keep/camp to upgrade would be enough)

Thats a lie. I say so because on t1, even months before HoT, the BL were empty 90% of the time on the weekdays aside from the random zergblob ktrain from whichever server was bored. The problem is theres to many servers, plain and simple. There should be 3 tiers max.

People will continue going to Eternal Battlegrounds because its the easy way to farm. People like to blob zerg because its the path of least resistance.

I think that Anet should bring the old BL’s back just for a week to see if some people come back to WvW and play on the old BL’s. This could help us see if WvW is truly dead.

People would just play the maps purely as a reason to justify the new map hate. Then they’ll go back to complaining that WvW gets ignored as people continue to zerg blob ktrain.

PVE seem fine because you have the megaserver…. You can’t know if there is 1 map or 20 at the same time.
We have 27 server in EU…. This mean 27×4 maps every time….
Try the same in PVE you will see if PVE is full or not…

So campaign for server merges? Seems like it would solve 90% of the issue people are having.

Can confirm. New maps are amazing. JQ BL had a que on one the other night, and the fights were great. People actually have to fight now instead of sitting behind tower walls bombing with siege and exploiting LOS ACs. It now takes 2 minutes to get from one side of the map to the other, instead of 30 seconds like it used to. Scouting actually requires an actual form of scouting instead of a quick 10 second look now.

Zergball ktrainers hate it however it seems.

There needs to be more game modes for more builds to be viable, things like Capture the flag, etc.

We kind of do already in the form of spirit watch. However, look how many people post about how they hate it because its a “gimmick”

Any time anet adds something different, it causes an uproar, regardless of how awesome it is. This is because any map that isnt foefire tends to make peoples metabuilder build less effective, so people hate them. People always ask for these new things, but then go nuts when they get them.

I honestly think anet should just say screw it. Add Sprit Watch and skyhammer to ranked. Add 2 more deathmatch maps to ranked also. Maybe a few more unique maps like SW/SH. They should also add a build saver so you can switch builds easier. This would eliminate certain builds being useless in certain matches, as you could just switch to a more effective build before the match starts.

Lie? You have no clue what you are talking about.

I have an account on all three of the T1 servers (and a T3 server, but I haven’t played on that one in months). Unless there is a map queue following a commander to retake/take stuff in another zone or karma train, the only map queued for purposes of actually fighting other people is EB.

Sure some people are PvEing, but most WvWers that fill the maps nightly only PvE when they absolutely have to. The WvW community for the most part spent the first couple of nights in the new zone, and promptly returned to EB because the new maps are horrible.

Read the match up threads. Lots of people confirming they are PvE’ing

There isn’t a single player that I know on any one of the three T1 servers that is happy with the new maps. That is why it is pretty much only EB queuing on any of them.

Funny, because months before HoT annoucement, people were complaining that WvW and the maps were getting stale.

That is why I called them a red herring. Players thought a new map would help but I think that is putting lipstick on a proverbial pig. I believe solving the fundamental stale matchups with the same stale builds was the real issue.

The new class and elites went a long way toward resolving part of the issue (it has been 3 years since we had a new weapon, class or even race) but if GW2 wants to create a fresh WvW scene they need to address the stale matches and population imbalances as well.

The population imbalance is whats causing the problems, not the maps.

great deal of time and effort must have gone into the development of the new map. The only problem is that it’s not a WvW map. They need to bring back whoever designed the original Alpine maps, because this new one is a disaster. But they won’t… It’s just PvE forced down our throats from here on out.

Funny, because months before HoT annoucement, people were complaining that WvW and the maps were getting stale. The current concussions in map chat is most people love the new maps.

Also, the new maps are pretty bare of dolyaks, wolves, griffons….but somehow its pve intensive…. huh?

I play on T1.

My maps are never empty. Scores are a pretty big deal. People on T1 actually play and defend because they enjoy it instead of crying about how there isnt enough “reward.” Stuff is defended so they can keep the scores flowing. I can actually roam and not get zerged down in 10 seconds because the enemy can run from 1 side of the map to the other in less than a minute.

WvW for me now is almost on par with old Daoc and current ESO RvR, where losing a fight actually mattered somewhat as it meant you had to run back, giving the enemy time to do stuff.

Oh, and in T1. WP’s didn’t get built that often the enemy keeps (ones closest to their spawns), because of the rate of which objectives got flipped. They maybe got build during off hours. Thats about it. Argument nullified.

Seems to be the biggest complaint stems from the fact that theres to many servers. T1/T2/T3 isnt hard to find fights. These new maps are the best part of the xpac.

Also, the maps arent to big. The old maps were to small. Thats always been the biggest complaint from sensible players. What, youre upset that it takes you 2 minutes instead of 1 minute to get from 1 side of the map to the other? Nothing worse that being a solo roamer always getting run over by zerg blobs every 10 feet. Now T1-3 zergs actually have to split off every now and then instead of moving from 1 objective to the next, as it was way to easy to move from point A to B.

Keeping PvE out of WvW arguments are funny considering every objective has always been PvE based (kill doors, kill lords).

Simply merge every server below T3 into the T4 and T5 servers. Problem solved.

The maps are too big. They should have kept the alpine borderlands and had just one instance of desert and replace EB. As it is in tier 7 its a total ghost town. I roamed for 1hr on release day and didn’t see a soul.

I wonder if this had anything to do with people checking out the new PvE zones….

But hey, keep trying to use this for your “to big” argument.

I love that’s where you went with that. You’re not getting the argument. As has been repeatedly stated by literally everyone. Nothing in GW2 has been been gated so specifically till now. You’ve always been able to just do whatever you wanted in GW2. I’ve rarely ever done pve. Rarely done pve events. I’ve done the personal story a couple times till completion and ran some dungeons, but most if not all of my time is in WvW or SPvP.

I’m pretty sure I could no nothing in orr at lvl 1. Because mob levels.

Good news though. You can still do WvW and spvp. Last I checked, neither of those were gated. spvp still has everything unlocked besides a few gold sinks!

When I wanted to do something in pve, it was my choice. With this expansion, they locked the Elite Specs behind a massive Hero Point Grind that corresponds with the HC if you do all of them, then locked those behind gate, after gate, after gate, after gate.

You mean the system which is essentially a new leveling system without them actually increasing the max level, as to not negate everything I did in the past 3 years?

Sounds like a genius system to me.

I mean you could technically spend the next couple months grinding the 400 HP you need to get your elite unlocked in WvW itself, but that’s equally as ridiculous.

Could you imagine if they put the Elite spec behind a WvW wall instead of a PvE wall? I’m sure you’d be singing a different tune right now.

Funny, because I finished my elite spec over the weekend exploring the new PvE zones.

You can also unlocked all your HP’s from WvW if you so choose. And WvW is actually my main attraction to the game. Its actually a lot quicker too. So I would be singing the same tunes as I am right now.

The price we over-paid for the “expansion” is the price of newer games nowadays that was built from the ground up, that’s where most of the cost is incurred…GW2 is 3 years old. How can they justify pricing it the same as a new game?

probably because newer games squeeze the same amount money out of you through several, lesser price, lesser content, but more frequent DLC’s. Probably because the price of making games has gone way up over the years, while staying around the same selling price.

What HoT content is GATED by them?

Answer: most, you have to grind massive amounts of XP simply to unlock the Masteries you need to GET AROUND THE WORLD!

You can get to Orr at level 1 in GW2 if you can avoid dying.

Point I was making was if you think doing events is grinding, You have been grinding since you started to play gw2. Seeing as to level up you run around maps and do events. People have been “grinding” silverwastes for months now have they not?

Would you have been happier if Anet raised the level cap past 80 and actually added a new tier of gear? Basically making all your current gear subpar to any of the new gear added. Also to get your new gear you actually had to do something over and over again for only a “chance” at a new piece of gear dropping.

Chance is the keyword there. If you quote me and say you are doing events over and over we will never see eye to eye and have a different definition of what grinding is..

I’ve never been forced to pve in a specific order before today in GW2. I could run my Asuran over to Sylvari land, and do any events I wanted. I was not forced to complete my Asuran starting area, in a very specific order, making sure I am forced to do every event that pops up.

Everything about HoT is being forced into a very specific order you must do before you can progress. Gating Elite Specs behind a required Hero Point Grind that you get if you do every single piece of the HoT trash events to gain mastery in so many different areas? (you know how kittened I was when I glided down to that frog on the ledge only to be told I need to get some stupid mastery in order to even see what the hero challenge is?)

I won’t feel accomplished when I’m done HoT, It’s a grind before I can get my Elite and then I can start enjoying the game. I’ll just be glad it’s over, then I’ll be able to enjoy it if I’m still playing at that point.

This is extremely poor game design.

So you hate progression and want instant gratification. You wanted everything unlocked the second you stepped foot in the new area, just so you could fly through it in a day, then complain for 3 more years that youre bored. Because god forbid you were force to spend 30 minutes to an hour unlocking gliding and mushroom bounce which allows you to progress through the zones collecting HP’s, much like you were in the old world collecting XP’s from hearts (which you seem to love so much)

Elite specializations are not, though. They’re not cosmetic or slight changes. There are meant to be even more later. The amount of time it takes to unlock it per character is just too strenuous for people without a lot of game time.

I completed my elite spec this weekend. Thanks for proving the “people want instant gratification” argument once again.

Your 48 hours is different from mine. Since Friday, I’ve only had enough time to complete two of the story episodes and one hero point challenge, and have barely made a dent in masteries. There’s no logical reason behind why you think it’s okay to make the game inaccessible to other people. We should all be entitled to have fun. And trust me, there’s plenty of content to do for those who have the time and like to devote themselves to completing new things.

The guild wars player base,unlike other games is fairly old in age. The majority are adults and even parents. Being a parent or a college student sadly takes away the privlige of playing 6+ hours a day. And that isn’t a personal issue because thats the average age group in gw2. Having 1-2 hours per a day or even two days,makes my progress in HoT nearly impossbile. I deserve to have fun just as much as people who no life and play 12 hours a day.

And where are these statics to back up your average age theory?

So you’re essentially arguing that you should be able to accomplish just as much in 1 hour as a guy who plays 12 hours….

So you want instant gratification, which seems to be the major theme with all the negative people right now

Elite specializations are not, though. They’re not cosmetic or slight changes. There are meant to be even more later. The amount of time it takes to unlock it per character is just too strenuous for people without a lot of game time.

I completed my elite spec this weekend. Thanks for proving the “people want instant gratification” argument once again.

Your 48 hours is different from mine. Since Friday, I’ve only had enough time to complete two of the story episodes and one hero point challenge, and have barely made a dent in masteries. Features gated by the need to grind huge amounts of XP simply in order to progress through the story/zones.

1-80 had NO GRIND AT ALL in order to simply quest. You gained levels by completing the content in each zone, do that and you were ready for the next .. whereas in HoT you play for a short time then face a locked gate where you need to grind XP in order to unlock a Mastery simply to progress through the zone.

So you essentially have to complete content in each HoT zone. You do that to gain your mastery in order to do the next.

Hmmm….. sounds identical to the 1-80 philosophy. The only difference being a mastery gate, instead of being impossible due to mob level gate.

At no point in all the 1-80s I did (5, not as many as many folks but still …), they progressed without thinking, never had to repeatedly grind XP in order to do so, they gained sufficient XP simply questing.

And thats different in HoT how? How is doing content for xp in the old world different than doing content now? Those big orange circles not big or bright enough for you? You need giant hearts to point locations on the map for you?

HoT isn’t the same kind of play-style, it’s far more WOW than Blizzard are doing these days: and I have 10 100s in WOW to prove it! I doubt I’ll have more than one end-game HoT character, if that, HoT kills alts, that’s for sure.

You also missed the part where instead of “!” in the old world, we had hearts instead. Again, essentially the same.

One more thing, 1-80 there is no group-or-GTFO content gating character progression, HoT adds that 1990s abomination in the form of unsoloable HP accumulation: character progress is now gated by forced-grouping for the first time in GW2.

I’ve solo’d almost all my HP challenges btw. You must be one of those people that thinks this game is to hard,

Troll topic or not, its obvious that the new specs are not an alternative to the old. They are more powerful. Made an experiment and went back as bunker guard. Much harder to stay alive. Spike damage is higher then ever. Maybe on par of Thieves few years back.
So the whole “alternative” play is empty words…

They are more powerful, or weaker, because metabuilder isnt there to hold your hand yet. Theres no builds that factor in the new skills for people to copy and paste, and are realizing that they aren’t as good as they think they are when there isnt someone there to tell them how to play.

I went through 10 Reaper builds before I found one that works really well. That means I had 9 builds that were either semi-good, or got completely roflstomped.

Except when the argument was started by someone else making the comparison.

Were you upset when World of Warcraft wasnt exactly like Warcraft 3?

Fact is HoT bears little resemblance to GW2 in its core philosophy, and that only became apparent once all the pre-orders were in and the beta test was over, up until that point everything Anet said about HoT seemed to show it was related to GW2; it isn’t where core game mechanics are concerned.

And what core philosophy is that? Leveling from 1 to 80? Having zones that are semi-gated by level? Having features gated by level?

So youre upset that they didnt increase the max level, and gate everything behind that instead? Where you could just spam all the tombs you’ve been saving to bypass that whole concept?

I define grind as spending hours upon hours doing the same thing over and over, for very little reward.

The QQ squad on these boards defines grind as actually having to play the game to unlock something, thus deeming it unacceptable.

The grind only exists for people who’re in a rush. My tip: don’t rush and don’t impose deadlines upon yourself (aka: “I need every mastery point before wednesday”). Just play the game and progression will happen naturally.

I bet you’d buy max lvl character boost if you were playing wow, and then complain that it didnt boost you to the new max lvl when a new expansion was released.

How much do you want to bet? I have nothing against leveling slowly. It’s the fact that to get anywhere you actually want to go you have to do something else first.

If the time investment actually served a purpose other than to stretch out the content I’d be perfectly fine with that.

But it doesn’t. And it’s blatantly obvious.

P.S. I got a free character boost when I bought WoD last year. Played the boosted character for about 4 days then leveled up another character the old fashioned way because I actually enjoyed the leveling process. Invested a lot more time in the leveled up character than the boosted one by a large margine.

So how much were you betting?

So you rather collect yellow “!” and repeat the same old “kill 10 boars” or “spam que dungeons”, but complain about another game having a grind for 5 minutes to unlock the only mandatory ability (gliding), or complain that instead of progression to a new max lvl doing the same quests, you have to progress a new system that has 0 “!” quests.

So you miss WoW.

EDIT: I will say this again, someone BOUGHT this with 50 bucks, from arenanet, then gave it to me for 30. That’s not fraudulent, not in the slightest.

You really think someones paid full price just to sell it to you for a profit loss?

Or perhaps they managed to steal it so they could sell it to you for 100% of the profit?

Think. How is it someone is able to sell something for $30 which normally cost almost twice that amount, without being an authorized dealer?
