yes you can try a lot of builds, i usually go fo 6.2.2.2.2 with soldier armor and zerk trinkets mixed with valkyrie. strength runes with battle sigil is good.

BG hates TC, because TC is now more SoR than TC.

This isn’t true at all lol. Most of BG doesn’t hate TC, I obviously can’t speak for everyone on the server. Though it will seem that way in matches to come for obvious reasons.

Also a lot of BG hated a lot of guilds and player on SoR but it was a necessary hate. It breaded some of the most intense fights I’ve ever experienced.

The SoR BG rivalry was the best that i was part of. With out SoR, Blackgate would not be the server it is today. SoR had a lot of very good guilds that pushed BGs guild to be better. While there is probably some hate left, there is still a lot of respect for SoR.

this is true, SOR still has a place in BGs heart, they did bring out the best of BG, SoR did have the bite to match their bark, was the best rivalry, unlike JQ all bark all camp, spawn camp that is LOl

If you’re wearing soldier you might drop some of it for valkyrie, through this I was able to reduce the crit dmg loss to just 10% which I’m fine overall with.

Do you talk about wvw? For dd-backstab-builds the dmg-loss is more than 10%, its about 25-30%. I used valkyrie before so there is no way for me to compensate anything at all without losing the last bit of survivability. Fighting a condi-bunker is almost impossible now if the other player knows what he is doing.
So now i have the choise between playing a condi-build myself or changing the class. Great!
I think it should be the way that more damage means lesser survivability, but it should be the same for power and for condi-builds. Condi-builds have high damage and survivability now, thats the problem.

This is what I was saying as well, if you were a valk DD BS build where your damage was basically crits, this hit you hard

yes this is true, i have used glass cannon full instagib build still lost 25% damage, i used D/P build same thing with valkyrie set but so much weaker 20% , next i used S/D kitten that kitten its weaker than D/P, then i used PD condi dire set all dire. takes forever to kill.

i wish they would allow us to rechange the stat on ascended. just spend a kitten ton of gold and effort building 2 toons and just got trashed.

power did not change but the point is crit damage, hidden killer still the same, crit damage is crappy. i got like 20% nerf. i did try to roam solo and with others thieves and just cant kill jack fast enough. its just so sad. anet wants definition of support type diversify crap is condi bunker build which takes 10 years to kill an experienced foe let alone a war or necro. they just laugh at you and spam emote while your just dishing out wet noodle condi damage on them, then they just run away if they feel bored.

for example, pre patch i have 120% crit damage, now its 231, any one knows what the math is to compute the difference now?

A quick overview why I am disappointed from a thief perspective. (All the other features implemented are awesome, probs to arena net for that)

First of all: Skill balacing.
Pistolwhip (Spvp)=nerf (although i sorta agree with this one)
Shortbow 3= nerf
Shortbow 4= nerf
(seems like they made the final nerf to our sword and are now targeting shortbow)

no buffs (as opposed to many other classes, uhum, free traits for necro, uhum)

Skill fixes?
we only got skill fact updates (huray . ) while the real broken traits haven’t even been looked at (still suicide through last refuge, hard to catch is still trash, and all the last patched hard nerfed initiative traits still remain in the trait dumbster)
The only thing i am happy about is the steal fix bcs that was really annoying.

Second: Ferocity.
This hits thief meta hard! Yes there are those that do not enjoy pewpewing cheesy bleeds on a target and waiting for 10 min for a kill. What makes thief fun for me is the quick kills, high risk, high reward. After this amount of damage nerf only high risk remains (especially versus the already overpowered condition meta).

#1Deadly Arts: Revealed Training: Gain up to 200 extra power when striking an enemy from stealth, based on your level.
WHAT!!? we were gonna get a power buff upon reveal! What happened to the great devs idea of engaging thiefs to step out of stealth!! Instead we get a power buff that only applies to 1 hit (aka restoring our pre ferocity backstab damage by trading in the last defensive traits we had, Go GLASS OR GO HOME). That seems a little weak for a GM trait doesn’kitten

#2Critical strikes. Invigorating precision: You are healed for 5% of outgoing critical strike damage
Only 5%? so actually 4.5% since crit damage was nerfed by 10%? SAD TRAIT! I’ll pick executioner anyday!

#3Shadow Arts: Resilience of Shadows: Stealth effects that you apply reduce incoming attack damage by 50%.
Finally a new useful trait (those are rare in thief). I am however confused about anet’s previous statements that they want the thief to more actively engage in combat. This trait encourages to do the exact opposite, but still, I am kinda excited to try this one.

Acrobatics: Assassins Equilibrium: Gain 1 seconds of stability when striking an enemy from stealth.
I won’t even get into this. useless 1 sec is useless. Oh and please update your “game update page” or you will fool people into thinking it is 1.25 sec base (rather than only 1 sec with the 30% boon duration form acrobatics included).

Trickery: Bewildering Ambush: Stealing also applies 5 stacks of confusion for 5.25 seconds.
Ok this is viable for condition specs! But worthy of replacing sleight of hand, don’t think so. and also, update the page because here the condition duration is included as well (base is 5sec).

I haven’t been playing around with the new runes and sigils so i hope that makes up for something but in my humble opinion the thief has gone through yet another nerf patch.

A while back I was discussing fighting as a range dps group with some chaps on this forum, and one of our Video makers was finally on when we ran our ranged dps group. We are [SG] Shadow Gypsies from JQ. We run alot of random setups for fun.

This is a video of our SG-17 (tribute to the B-17 bomber of course) group setup fighting with BG over the weekend. It’s all ranged. The SG-17 starts at 2mins and continues until a little after 20mins , all ranged fights. The rest is typical hammer train footage stuff after that.

I’d love to see your videos of ranged groups fighting, and share/discuss builds tactics and strategies. You can also email Mance Khan in game if you’d rather chat in game than forums.

well to tell you the truth we really need dedicated and experienced WvWers, BG is not the BG in S1 we lost a lot of veteran players. you can see that in BLs queues are little to non, RISE is a GvG guild they are not WvW guild, you can hardly see them in WVW. them being back in BG for WvW or just to hibernate and retire does not make any real difference or impact now.

my fondest memory of RISE is when they recruited me, i joined them on one raid and they charged head on to an enemy zerg, no stacking, no buffing, no food, no nourishment 14 of us or less i cant remember exactly, against an RG zerg and later an IRON led Zerg, one dude was shouting on TS BALLSSSS DEEPPPP. we just literally handed them our bags, so i said to my self kitten this kitten im leaving that same day i joined.

I am seriously laughing myself to death over these 2 vs 1 bg threads. First off, tier 1 has always been 2 vs 1. For weeks BG and JQ spent HOURS tearing up our walls on bay/hills on BG BL and failed to cap it. 2 vs 1 on a single keep the entire NA raids. Because this is a tournament, and that guides actions. Your logic would all be true over the course of a 1 week battle. In this case, it makes much more sense for TC and JQ t o team up. If BG were to win week 3, they would have a very large lead in the league.

Don’t take it personally. Any server that had won the first 2 weeks would be a target.

Again, who is to say JQ and TC don’t team up again? Who is to say this doesn’t happen to other servers? From what I am being told TC doesn’t care about winning 1st place. They are striving for 2nd. So there is literally no reason to not team up with JQ when fighting BG.

It really is destroying the thrill of the tournament. JQ is going to walk freely with no competition. TC will take 2nd because tier 2 can’t beat them, and they are already have their ties formed with JQ.

Server alliances should not happen. Guild alliances? Sure. However, if BG were to go to tier 2 then there is no reason why anyone wants to go to tier 1 to fight the JQ/TC alliance.

yeah it is a heavy 2 v 1 and coordinated, reminds me of SOR and JQ days, but its all good we love their bags they just seem to keep on giving it to us, we no longer look for fights, now they come right at our doorstep, anyways just shows that it needs 2 server to beat 1, and besides it is still early in the week, we never know what happens.

“Zojja’s” You can change infusions but it’d be a waste of badges/laurels/etc if you did. Also pay attention to offensive/defensive slots, like armor doesn’t have offensive and I bought one too many power infusions. XD

not unless you make omni infusion to put power in those defensive infusion slots ( what i did ) call it crazy expensive but every power counts!

This must be in sPvP. I was just on my Engi in WvW, whom has 2.5k armor, and was instagibbed by a D/D thief for 17,532 dmg. The ole’ Steal, cd, and backstab macro. Nerf’s can’t happen soon enough.

my favorite build, instagib build. i will hate the crit damage nerf comes, i miss the old steal crit.

i do agree with Sacrx of Red Guards, if it was the pre season 1 EU servers and NA, NA would get destroyed, we simply don’t have enough guilds to match those organized WVW guilds in EU.

we have been in SFR and faced Vizunah many times even open field and all and i can tell you they they are worthy of T1 but not enought to beat SFR or BG, JQ would be equal, SOR prime days would be equal as well, for TC no they would loose to vizunah due to sheer determination of EU and militia.

Of course now Vizunah won’t win. They aren’t #1 anymore and have lost a lot of players/guilds. You were not in EU during season 1 or before that. At any time they chose they could go on full try hard mode and when they did they queued all four maps 24/7. During season 1, they had a blob on all 4 maps at all times of the day. I know BG achieved the same feat but then take into account that Vizunah had universal ts usage on their server and were the best server at siege warfare and very competent at open field as well. BG would have been obliterated.

i think you got this backwards dude. EU is a hundred times more open to rangers then NA. I can say this, because i spent a year in EU as a Ranger Main, and i got more flak for playing ranger in NA during my first 3 weeks, then an entire year in EU. FYI; i played on Far Shiverpeaks and Desolation. So no, i didn’t play on empty T8 servers.

As for Tarnished Coast – probably the only server in NA (that iv’e heard of/experienced) that has the same attitude towards rangers as most EU servers. In short; You get a chance to prove yourself and if you succeed, people will not give you any flak for playing ranger (unlike some other T1/T2 servers)

VIZ/SFR had barely 1-2 hours a day deadtime throughout the entire week, trust me, when it comes to coverage, EU T1 is more menacing then NA T1. Mostly because 12/20 hours in NA is spent hugging keeps, while 17/22 hours in EU is spent golem-rushing/flipping camps/draining supply.

Blackgate would completely destroy Vizunah. The reason viz appears to have more coverage and more PVD is because they face server that can’t put up a fight. Blackgate has coverage in all locations, vizunah doesn’t.

not any more they dont. But when they were at their biggest before the first leagues, there would be no saying who would win.
Also, jrd, i’d like to make the point that i AM infact playing in T1 NA, and i have yet to see you, or INVI here. So do not come here and tell me how the people iv’e faced for the past two months play. I know it far to well by now. In open field, Viz would oblitterate any NA T1 server. JQ could put up a fight due to manpower, but they would be beaten down. In a siege setting, Viz would be the worst defender, and the best offensive. Their golem rush would oblitterate even the best defended T3 keep here in NA. People here have horrible sense for siege placement and sieging a keep in general. Still, they do better at it then Viz, so np np.

we have been in SFR and faced Vizunah many times even open field and all and i can tell you they they are worthy of T1 but not enought to beat SFR or BG, JQ would be equal, SOR prime days would be equal as well, for TC no they would loose to vizunah due to sheer determination of EU and militia.

i think you got this backwards dude. EU is a hundred times more open to rangers then NA. I can say this, because i spent a year in EU as a Ranger Main, and i got more flak for playing ranger in NA during my first 3 weeks, then an entire year in EU. FYI; i played on Far Shiverpeaks and Desolation. So no, i didn’t play on empty T8 servers.

You’re cute. It’s well known BG only succeeds when they have the third server helping them. Notice the attacks on JQ only happen when the third server is also attacking. Convenient no? Because when SOR left the table, BG had no one to hide behind to help them keep the lead. Are we mad? No, we’ve come to expect BG + any third server coupling up together in sweet bromance. It’s no surprise and we just wait for those times during the day when we smell the double team with our morning coffee.

As for the original topic. Since server transfers are still abundant even on “full” servers. Either none of them are actually full or blackouts do indeed work. It means full being players online vs actually state of server capacity . In which case there would be no way to tell if said server is actually at capacity. You could try your luck randomly throughout the day clicking in to see if it is registering full or not. I wish you all the luck, no matter what server you choose.

And all arguing aside, the only difference between servers is size. Attitudes are all the same. Behavior all the same. You just have to know whether you prefer a larger server to a smaller one. Larger not being always better, but it can sometimes mean that events such as pve have a higher chance at success because there is a higher chance of a lot of people doing it. At the same time those events are such you can guest to do them if you really want to. It would only matter WvW, and during season it’s not the best time to really decide that, because WvW is a lot different when not in season.

i would like to ask how long have you been doing WVW? it seems that when JQ gets hit by 2v1 we have instant 3 threads in the forums QQing. but when BG was being 2v1 we just suck it up and defend, back in the SOR, JQ and BG days it was BG who gets 2v1 no matter what week. it was only JQ got 2v1 during first week of the season1. It is a 3 way fight no matter how you look it there will always be 2v1.

grab your balls if you still have if not look for it in which ever BL you lost it from, suck it up JQ. instead of QQing here, this is T1 son either take the heat or go pve.

Well NA stays up 20 hours at a time, until SoS ddos’s their voice comms 5-6 times in a row in EU hours, making people just go to sleep, while they blob 80 mans at empty maps, and /cheering the whole time.
