Guild Wars 2

For me I got 10 characters and got a 50/50 split of ladies and gentlemen. No reason in particular at all and not sure why I do it but eh it was sort of a little thing I wanted to do. Though I kind of wish I didnt have 10 characters because I mostly only use about 4 of them and the rest are bechwarmers. Ironically enough out of those 4 I also have a 50/50 split!

I just did a fractal run and apparently everyone in the group had dps meters that let you see everyones dps and gear and all gave me a mouth full at the end for not using the ‘meta’ build. I didn’t concent to people being able to see my stuff they definitely need to not allow this!

Make an official dps meter and make it so people at least know when others are watching them, I can understand elitism in raids but I’ve never had problems in fractals until this and I dont want dps meter min maxxers running around in fractals to harass me when I’m trying to do dalies.

I’m pretty sure if I copy and pasted whatever meta battle and qt told me to I’d have amazing dps like they want as well.

Hello My guild has had our arena for quite some time now but a problem we all seem to run into for some classes is the long cool downs on certain abilities. After a fight is concluded we end up having to wait for everyone’s cool downs to reset and sort of slows to pace down for fights.

I know this is merely a minor nitpick but was thinking what if it were possible to add something like an adrenal mushroom in the room where you select teams or a substitute for people lacking the mastery to use them.

I’m sure only a very small fraction of the player base is inconvenienced by this but it would be a great thing to have so people can hop right back into the fray after a fight is finished.

Um I’m not the only person that sees something g sort of odd with the screen shot right? Just saying that is an interesting portrait and tool tip lol.

I have a feeling perhaps the map the Chines version of Guild Wars 2 that was added some weeks back was an unfinished version of a new area for this update. Would make sense that once the east levy breaks that the lake there would drain out and would be a way to show a large scale invasion of DR but not affect low level characters in Queensdale.

Also since that portion of the map happens to line up with the player home instance district they could leave most of DR intact and have the battle be seen over the gates surrounding the district but still have a door there so people can travel to the original instanced version of the home instance for story or general purposes.

Honestly the thing I wish ArenaNet would do would be to make the guild hall upgrades work the same as Warframe’s clan dojo system. In that game once you make a dojo for your clan (essentially a guild in the context of that game) when you want to add any new parts to it or build any labs the amount of materials scales with the more members in your clan.

So smaller clans still get to enjoy building a dojo the way they want to and large clans have enough members to farm quickly to compensate for the higher material costs for the upgrades and decorations.

If they had this system in Guild Wars 2 it would save small guilds a huge burden and would hardly effect larger guilds allowing everyone to enjoy the amenities afforded from guild halls without having to join a massive guild.

I think they just need to come out with enough of these skins so we have 2 peg legs, 2 hook hands, a parrot on each shoulder, and an eye patch for each eye. No joke I’d buy that.

Ah dang it I don’t really use any of the things listed but I’m really bummed about the Bunker Down nerf. I liked how it complimented the passive trait that increased healing power when you had regeneration but I’m afraid with my current set up I’m hardly getting regeneration any longer.

There were actually some asura hair styles that I believe That_Shaman managed to data mine about 3 weeks ago? I cant find the original post about it but I made sure to save them and have been very anxious to get my hands on them and see all the others.

Well I usually never go to Dry Top but I decided to head there this week and during a sand storm and fighting some skritt I used the Acid Bomb ability on my engineer and did not realize I was standing by a ledge the whole time. I went flying off and expected to hit the floor but instead I flew quite a distance away and fell into a hold in the ground and began falling further until I finally hit the ground in the cave next to some Inquest and died on impact, they didn’t seem too phased by it.

But what about the friends you have come across while you played? The strangers you shared a funny moment with? The time you managed to finish that jumping puzzle that was giving you so much trouble? That time when you made it to Arah on your first character?

I myself have been playing for 3 years and hardly ever have much gold on me and only got a precursor once which I gave to a guild leader who later stopped playing before he finished his legendary but you know what, if I could go back in time and try to change it I wouldn’t since all the choices I’ve made in game good or bad have allowed me to play with the friendliest people I’ve meet anywhere online and the times I shared with them are more valuable than any legendary weapon or any amount of gold! The true value of your character can’t be found in your wallet!

Nope, players with less account time than I have have gotten it before me. It’s going alphabetically down the username list. I’ve been playing since closed beta and still haven’t gotten mine. On top of that I’m in the C’s which they have so many of those gold farm/seller accounts still on the list that it’s taking a long time for the system to auto send the outfits.

But already D’s got them.

Sounds like Zoso just sent them enough gold to buy enough gems to buy a character slot. If that’s what they really did, that is awfully kind of them. Why this needs to be done though is a sign that Anet has not done a good job relaying to us why the expansion is going to cost the amount it does and does not come with a slot by default.

Exactly what happened! Didn’t have anything to buy with the gems from the ultimate edition and wanted to show people there is some good in this whole pre purchase debacle. Would be a real shame to lose all that progress on the characters, plus the Guild Wars community always looks out for each other!

Personally the fact female asura wear male armor is the reason I made a female asura. There aren’t really any armor sets where I prefer the female version but that’s just my opinion.

On a serious note it does seem odd to be kicked out even if you have the pass. Perhaps if they make it a passive thing instead of an item in your inventory?

I can say it brought me much jubilation to see the second photo.

Well I have a big (and irrational) fear of dead bugs in real life (I’d rather have a live tarantula on my hand then a dead mosquito!) and a fear of heights but I have never encountered a moment in the game where I can not continue playing because I see either of those things. Granted the maggot’s heads exploding and spider egg sacks exploding do give me the willies.

But I am not really sure how such an item could be added to the game, we have the option in PvP to make players share the same models but in that scenario we all have humanoid models of various sizes which is easy to translate to a single model.

On the other hand what could be an effective replacement for spiders? It would be odd having a giant dog or drake replace larger spider bosses and knowing what type of attack they are telegraphing, is the dog shooting poison or webs at me?, plus the hit boxes would be a bit off.

Now that I think about it maybe they could replace them with the plastic spider models from Halloween? It would fix all the problems I mentioned above and could be a lot easier than finding a new animal to replace them!

Well as long as they don’t change the armor already in the game or at least give us an option on what style to choose I’ll be alright with it. I don’t think anyone wants to see my character in skimpy armor, unless over weights guy with a beard is your thing.

Yeah I’m not sure what’s up with being frightened by going into the down state. I knew about the down state before I even bought the game, just takes a bit of research. Even if I didn’t know about it I think it would take 1 time for me to understand how it works.

I always like to picture someone legitimately being frightened from things like the down state, like they move away from their computer and start freaking out and have to take a few minutes to compose themselves. I’m kind of mean like that.

Anyways I have to agree with what others are saying, even if it is moved to level 5 they will just be ‘frightened’ then instead of level 1, I think they just need to explain it in-game or use the intro mission as a controlled environment to place us into the down state during the boss fight and have the DE member make us invulnerable to give new players time to test each ability before reviving them.

Speaking for open world pve since that build isn’t dungeon related:
The main flaws i see for your build are:
-you’re playing cleric, wich boosts your power, and you’re mainly using burning for damage. That won’t boos your burning damage really high, leaving you with no damaging auto attack/ meaningful condi application.
-You lack aoe. Maybe try a bomb/grenades build, plus you get the awesomeness of throwing grenades everywhere.
-The health regen from dolyak is meh; maybe a more damage oriented rune won’t hurt your survivability and allows more damage. I’m thinking of either balthazar for condi or scholar for direct damage, for instance.
-Protection injection is more of a pvp trait, mobs in open world won’t cc you much, vigor on swiftness will get you more dodges, thus more escaping wich fits your theme.
-You have no condi removals, even though it’s not that useful in open world, you don’t want to be stuck in combat with a 1 min poison or something. Maybe play healing turret?
Think i’m done. Keep in mind those suggestions are just thoughts to make your build more fun overall but it’s far from something optimised, in case you’re looking for that. Have fun.

I have taken your advice into account and tried out a new set with more of a focus on Condition Damage and tried out Grenade Kit and I must say I saw an immediate increase in my damage, plus with the Healing Turret it helped replace the Dolyak Rune with a better regeneration!

This is why I’m glad we’ve got a forum to share ideas on but more importantly, thank you for the help!

Hello my fellow Engineers! I have come here to ask you if you may take a moment to examine my current build and offer your insight or advice on it and perhaps help me improve it.

Speed:

My build was designed with speed and healing in mind, I have set up my traits and healing ability to allow me to keep Swiftness up at all times (Speedy Kits trait and Drop Stimulant from the Med Kit) this ensures I can be moving fast which is very helpful when exploring or running away from a sticky situation. In fact the cool downs vs the length of the boons means that I will be able to apply Swiftness faster than I am losing it. I also use the Rocket Boots to break out from any Immobilizing or Crippling effects, I usually use the Tool Kit’s Box of Nails and Pistol’s Glue Shot to stop the enemy first then fly off to increase the distance between us.

Healing:

Next is the Superior Rune of the Dolyak and the trait Backpack Regenerator in conjunction with the Superior Sigil of Life which is excellent for dungeon groups or large events. Once I achieve 25 kills and acquire the maximum effect of my weapon sigil I now have 2 different sources providing me with constant health regeneration and if I need to, I can use the Juggernaut trait to reduce the damage I receive while regenerating health. The Med Kit also allows me quick access to a heal with a low cool down (Bandage Self) and Drop Bandages to help compensate the regeneration when I am being over powered by enemies.

Damage:

Now with focusing so much on healing obviously my damage will be leaving something to be desired but I find my build is better at outlasting the enemy and being able to make a swift retreat if necessary, but that being said I have made a nice little combo that usually can dispatch weaker enemies. When dealing with a single target I usually open with this:

1) Apply Incendiary Ammo
2) Throw Wrench which applies Burn twice and cripples the enemy
3) Use Rocket Kick to get in close and keep the Burn condition applied
4) Use Static Shot to prevent the enemy from retaliating immediately and causing Confusion when they eventually do
5) Hit them with Pry Bar to deal a high amount of damage and apple more Confusion
6) Dodge back and use Blowtorch to Burn them again and begin placing distance between us again
7) Then finish with Flame Blast
8) Use Rocket Boots to get away from the enemy
9) Rinse and repeat!

When I am usually fighting a tough enemy with a group I will generally stay in the back and either use the combo above or if I need to stay back I will generally do this trick.

1) Use Incendiary Ammo
2) Use the Flamethrower ability Flame Jet and and Flame Blast
3) Wait until I have a few mines placed under me from the trait Bunker Down
4) Wait until the enemy is susceptible to CC and use Magnet to pull the enemy into your pile of mines and deal a heft amount of damage
5) Pry Bar to hit them for getting too close!
6) Rocket Boots to get some distance

Well this is the gist of my class, I hope you can shine some insight on how I can fix any of flaws you may see or better yet, try the class and see if you enjoy it! I only follow people in WvW so they can distract the enemies while I run away!

I intentionally let events where you need to save quaggans fail so I can do the follow up event and get paid to kill them!

I laugh every time I see a quaggan strangled on vines!

My advice is to find another MMO to play, now let me explain. In recent months I’ve felt burned out by the game and getting tired of playing it so I decided to start playing some other games. I ended up getting Wildstar recently and was primarily playing that one for a month but as I played it I started getting peeved by some of the elements in the game.

To relive some stress I decided to play some more Guild Wars 2 and just a minute into it I remembered all the things I loved about the game. More social, encouraging cooperation, enjoyable world exploration, beautiful art style, and straight forward progression.

Now Wildstar is enjoyable but Guild Wars 2 just caters to me more and sometimes you just need some time away from the game to help remind you of it!

Well pretty much like everyone else was saying, sure I’ll be alright with it if they do it as part of the story and not just doing it for the heck of it. I personally didn’t like the whole Jory and Kasmeer relationship, not because they are lesbian mind you, it just seemed rather rushed.

I suppose if we knew more about them it would have been better, I liked the Caith and Faolain relationship more since we know their back stories and the conflict arising from it, makes it more interesting to see Caith struggle between her duties and her lover.

Plus Kasmeer was driving me crazy in the confrontation with Scarlet, she wouldn’t stop with all of the kitten hiccuping!!!

Also it seems a bit unfair that while Jory and Kasmeer had some good animations for their kiss scene, Bram and Rox didn’t get the same treatment. I do hope ArenaNet makes more cool cut-scenes like the Jory and Kasmeer scene in the future.

My human character is an engineer and his name is Ciarian Kirk. It is based off the name Ciarán, which is gaelic for “little dark one.” I thought it was fitting since he has a very short temper and slightly insane.

Hello, I usually don’t post on the forum often but with this new section I think I’ll try to organize a little going away party for myself. You see I’m enlisted in the Army and I’ll be leaving for OSUT (One Station Unit Training) very soon and I’ll be unable to play Guild Wars 2 for awhile so why not have a party? I also bought the How to Dance Vol. 1 to see if we can gather enough people to all dance in sync, maybe set a record or two while we’re at it?

I’m enlisted as a 19k in case you were wondering, that is an M1 Abrams crewmen in case you were wondering. Not really too sure what else I can say, got to follow OPSEC you know.

I was planning on having it in Lions Arch near the poi Tenanera´s Pit and try to see how many people we can have get into a dance group. If anyone has any other recommendations for other possible locations or things to do before or afterwards if you can post it here.

I was planing to have it on Friday, June 7th perhaps sometime around 6 p.m. CST on the Ehmry Bay server. Like I stated above regarding location and events if you guys have any other date or time you would prefer list it below!

Would be good to have any active or retired military members there as well but anyone is welcome (also anyone with a How to Dance book!). No gifts are necessary and even though I’m cheap kitten I’d have to decline any gifts (well I will take tier 6 crafting materials, trying to help a friend craft a legendary!)

So I wanted to post early to get any ideas for what to after we try to set the record for most people dancing in sync in Guild Wars 2. Just remember to bring your dancing groove and perhaps your weapons in case we go off to kill things! Who knows maybe even get an ArenaNet employee to show up? Maybe even have them show up in the Commando gear like the April Fools? Though that bit might be a bit far fetched…

I know when I’m on my human and get called bookah, I just… oh wait it’s a game so I don’t care. Even if I was in Tyria in real life I wouldn’t get so worked up over it.
