Wake up, Tyria!

I hope I wasn’t misreading but…
“Finally, these reward tracks unlock everything for an elite specialization: weapon, unique mechanics, skills, and traits. They’ll also reward items, including new runes and sigils, a fancy weapon skin for your new weapon type, and an armor skin for a single matching piece of armor (usually headgear or shoulders). As long as you’ve purchased Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns, you’ll automatically unlock access to all elite specializations in PvP.”
Does this mean elite specializations are another way for Anet to try and force PvE’rs to play a game they don’t like to get content? I for one will be ultra salty if this is the case, I want nothing to do with PvP.
All that means is that they don’t want to force PvP only people into playing PvE to unlock the elite specializations, skills, and traits. While in PvE, you will have to earn the specialization, skills, and traits through the reward tracks.
Oh ok. I didn’t have a lot of time to read the article itself so that stood out when I was skimming and raised a red flag for me but thanks for clarifying

I’m just thrilled to hear news about ANYTHING but Stronghold at this point because as a PvE only player, I was getting bored of the news being PvP centric for such a long time without much new PvE info being released.
To be fair, last week was all about PvE. You got to read about the lore and some mechanics of the local PvE frogs.
Which was nice but sadly not crazy exciting and I sort of forgot about it after a few days.

I can’t wait to hear more about this, or quite frankly, ANYTHING that doesn’t involve WvW or PvP content because that seems like all we hear about lately and as someone who stays out of that content entirely, something character or PvE related would be nice.

What’s so special about weapons that are tradeable and can pretty much be acquired by anyone willing to spend hundreds of real life dollars for it? I like that now, people like me who can’t justify spending money like that and have terrible RNG luck will be able to actually work for it and achieve something worthwhile. A game shouldn’t be about who has the most money, but rather about how skilled you actually are.
I honestly don’t even understand the point of an underwater legendary, it seems like such a waste of time and effort for a weapon you barely ever get to show off and be proud of. I hope underwater combat dies once and for all, it’s just awful being underpowered and ill-equipped to deal with what seems like denser mobs of more dangerous critters than on land.
- When a toon looks great I assume the player is a girl irl. If the toon looks ugly, I immediately assume the owner is a male irl. I think all female human thieves with the underboob-showing armor are all males irl, and all toons wearing kittenty armors for that matter.
I admit yes, I’m a girl and my characters are all well put together and everything matches everything. However, people think I’m a guy all the time because I opt for the most revealing option possible and they’re obviously wrong. Spoiler alert: my female human thief has the underboob armor.
- Whenever someone shouts in map chat that they just need a little more mats or gold to finish something(be it legendary or ascended stuff or just some cool-looking weapon), I always give them whatever I can, regardless if they’re lying or not. Shame on them if they’re lying though. Lol.
Spare some ectos? Like 500 of them? For my fractal capacitor journey? :P
I’m only halfway joking.
I’m a PvE’r but was interested in doing some reward tracks so I started attempting to PvP and I cannot begin to explain how horrible and toxic the PvP community is. I make sure people in my groups know I’m rather new at it and apologize in advance for any stupid things I might do by accident, and yet still nobody can behave or be civil. I mean, honestly, it’s unranked and it’s just a game. I don’t appreciate being called autistic or kittened (or any other form of inappropriate slur) or being told to kill myself irl. It’s just not necessary. And I think PvP players need to learn to curb their language rather than blaming the victim and telling them to just ignore it and move on like it’s no big deal. Because honestly, you don’t know who you’re talking to or what sorts of things they might have to deal with irl.
AGREED! I want my cute girly Asura mesmer to actually look cute and girly
I thought this was going to be a defiant Sylvari fangirl thread but I have never been more pleasantly surprised in my life. I’d rather be talking about Mursaat any day.
OH! I didn’t know you could kill them. Ok this might make things a bit more manageable thanks guys.
I just can’t seem to deal with that phase where you’re supposed to light the ring but the smothering things put it out. There seems to be no way to get to them fast enough considering the obscene overdone AOE stuff, and useless Marjory takes her good old time giving you the flame. What am I supposed to do?
Wow how do you guys get so many? I’d die for such a huge stack of tomes to forego the “NPE” leveling entirely.
I pretty much can’t live without all the speed increase possible. I love my thief because signet plus other skills and traits with swiftness. Can’t even play a warrior or engineer because they just lumber around like running through a tar pit. Can’t deal with slow.
I don’t think mine is quite as clever but oh well, here it is
I like this idea! I love to use focus but I also wish they could be more impressive. This would be a good solution
Team necro forever
I want Rox’s Quiver and Belinda’s Greatsword back more than life itself. I was in a bout of unemployment when those came back for the short while and was super mad that I didn’t have the gold or the rl money to get them
This is a super cool idea
+1
See the attachments; self-explanatory.
When your character gets stuck in animation and it turns out to be super pretty
100% quip. make it shut up >.<
I don’t necessarily have an issue with a cliffhanger if it’s actually warranted, like after going to Glint’s lair. But having every single chapter end with a cliffhanger and nothing ever feeling truly resolved or answered leaves way too many loose ends lying around, and I don’t know how they plan on tying them back together at this point.
This makes me like Taimi a million times more. As if she wasn’t already my favorite of Destiny’s Edge 2.0, cause she definitely has been right from the start.
It seems like anet doesn’t actually want to acknowledge that they simply can’t make the biweekly thing happen. It would probably have saved a lot of us a ton of frustration if we had to wait longer between chapters from the get go, instead of being promised biweekly and seldom getting what we were promised. There may not have been such a huge community backlash about it if it happened only once a month but was a little more substantial.
I love the fact that LS2 is a vast improvement to LS1. However, what kills me is that it feels like we were promised so much more, and got nothing. I anticipated the entire Maguuma jungle to be open to players by now, and all we have are two small gimmick maps that I never even bother to venture into aside from when the LS requires me to go into them. I miss the feel of the traditional maps. With the hearts and all the other content. I’ve lost the feeling of being on an adventure because it doesn’t feel immersive and explorable, it feels like a zerg party. And as far as the writing is concerned, it’s better but not reaching its full potential. I just really dislike the cliffhanger after cliffhanger with no resolution leading us on. All in all it feels dragged out and thin, and I can only hope this doesn’t mean that we were just being teased this whole time only to have an expansion that focuses on the area of Tyria we assumed would be given to us this season.
Alright then. What’s the secret to getting that guy knocked out at the end?
Between the bugs and the obscene AOE stealth breaks, there’s basically no way to complete this.
me too >.>
I can’t deal with all these whiny MRA’s complaining about lesbians. Go back to playing Call of Duty so you can feel “manly” again. QQ.
Are you talking about Mawdrey? I think that’s done already.
My main is necro, and I can’t help but want to be able to use a greatsword. I mean, mesmers can use a greatsword which doesn’t really make much sense, so why not us?
Lol I just find it hilarious that there are people complaining that we need more strong male characters because there are apparently too many strong females.
Sorry guys, but strong men are represented as the vast majority in video games and I think it’s fantastic to finally see some strong women being represented instead of making every female character scantily clad, weak, and helpless. AND it’s awesome to see lesbians (Kas and Jory) and disabilities (Taimi) being represented too. I give GW2 props for actually going outside the box of every other generic game ever. Keep up the diversity!
Yeah turned out that Rox wasn’t cutting the vines like she was supposed to, thus keeping the correct bath blocked. I fixed it by logging out and back in.
I like this theory. My first thought was that maybe Caithe stole the egg for Faolain. After all, Scarlet did say she knew a deep dark secret of Caithe’s, which we never got to find out. Something made me think maybe she has already succumbed to the Nightmare Court.
And now I can’t get to the middle??? Wtf.
I feel like I’ve been everywhere and every time I think I can get to him, there’s some sort of block. Idk if anyone can draw a trail on the map of where to follow because I am totally lost. I hate maze content. I’m terrible at it.
How am I supposed to get to Braham?
Hopefully not one as annoying as Scarlet. Fingers crossed for Palawa Joko.
Maybe I called it “flawless” because I was still so stoked about what we did get, which is what we’ve been waiting a long time for and it made me happy to see the devs paying attention to detail.
Jaken, I have to agree with what you said, especially the facets being akin to the icebrood colossus and not a dragon. That did bother me a little but I overlooked the bad completely because of the overwhelming good.
I really cannot stress enough how pleased I am with Anet right now. The devs deserve a huge hug from veteran players. I feel that all the negativity sparked by them catering a lot to the new players is fading because they finally listened to what we wanted. I love that it seems like they suddenly remembered that this is guild wars TWO, and are bringing back so many beloved memories from GW1 and making the story feel so much less disjointed. The lore that we got to experience has me engaged and very excited to continue with the living story after feeling jaded with it for a while. It’s a breath of fresh air and I couldn’t be happier with it.
“Emo of a son”
HAHA PERFECT. I’m so glad I’m not the only person who makes fun of him relentlessly for being so emo.
I’m literally seething with anger right now.
LOL I JUST BEAT THE LAST BOSS AND MY COMPUTER IMMEDIATELY CRASHED. GUESS I HAVE TO DO THIS ENTIRE THING ALL OVER. FOR THE SECOND TIME. AGAIN.
No seriously, progress should save or the instance shouldn’t be this long because not everyone’s computers can handle it and I really am not excited to have to fight all this crap again. It’s a little excessive.
Lol but once I got past now I can’t figure out how to kill the facet of darkness. lol. this is kind of silly.
Ah just figured it out, there’s a thing in the corner you have to touch and makes it possible to kill the guy guarding the gate
My confessions:
- I’m one of the rare nice people in dungeons. I don’t discriminate based on build, level, gear, or class whatsoever and want to punch every “zerker only” party in the mouth. I also refuse to quit on people, especially someone who is new and trying their best to learn a dungeon because I remember how it felt when I was in their position and had people constantly quitting on me because I made a mistake and didn’t know what I was doing wrong yet.
-I’m a veteran player who has no ascended or legendary stuff because I can’t be bothered to craft. It’s boring and expensive and I would so much rather be doing world bosses, Arah, or fractals any day over grinding for something that difficult. But I still preview all the legendaries on my characters and cry about my laziness because I want them.
- I think guardians are overrated and boring to play. I have no motivation to finish leveling mine because it doesn’t feel like a challenge at all.
- I am a total sucker for the gem store and will buy almost any outfit that gets released. I also obsessively give makeovers especially when new hair/faces come out.
- I have horrible luck with drops despite having a decent magic find %, so for the sake of making the perfect look for my character I will buy exotics, weapon skins, and back items on the TP even if they’re insanely overpriced.
-I take screenshots in game more than I take irl selfies.
-Condi builds are my all time favorite to play.
-I consistently finish my monthly in the first week and I have absolutely no idea why I care enough to finish it that quickly.
-I think Skritt > Quaggans
-I play human and asura females almost exclusively because humans look the trampiest in armor and asura females are adorable and I think their voices are so cute.
