I don’t know if may be I’m crazy or what not but I’ve noticed multiple times that I will be fighting some mob in PvE and my target has somehow switched from the mob to a team member some nearby NPC. I’ve also noticed that I will be targeted on some mob and suddenly I will have lost the target completely (and those abilities I just used are now wasted and on CD).
I’ve seen this against regular mobs as well as event bosses. Anyone else experience this? Sorry if this has already been posted on.
Great Swords rock and all, but I wanna comment on condition builds.

I’m assuming you’re referring to the “Fast Hands” trait (I had to look it up)? If so, I could see what you mean but also keep in mind you don’t want players to be able to exploit the weapon insignia’s that provide 100% crit, poison, etc. on next hit after a weapon swap. But I do see your point with the “pigeon holing”.
Gotta make sure you evade when you can and stay on the move how ever you can. Condition dmg can work fine in PvE, but make sure you use a weapon that capitalizes on it (for example, the sword). Also I find a back up shield to be helpful. You can bring that out and start blocking everything for a few seconds (you can move while blocking!).
If you find yourself dying even with evades, try using Endure Pain while you wait for your heal to come off CD.
Lastly, group up! I find that when I’m going with condition dmgs, grouping with another condition dmg class like a ranger (just 1 example) is great since we both deal out own stacks of bleeds (lots of bleeds and really quick!)
are you kidding me ?
i am pro elementalist. since 1st beta i am playing elementalist on spvp. i can beat all warriors. i know some skills to break stuns or hundred blade.
but, is it logical to hit 18 k with one skill ?
Rangers can crit 20k+ with 1 ability. Should we nerf them as well? Or should we just buff everyone’s health so 20k isn’t that crazy?
Warriors actually need buffed. In WvW you pretty much cant melee if there is a group fight and warrior is outclassed by ele in ranged skills. Sounds like you should not be trolling the warrior forum and go look for ways to beat warriors on the ele forum.
I wonder if it’s not a Warrior buff but maybe a bit of an armor buff. Sometimes I feel paper thin in my armor… although that could be due to the 30 ppl hitting me
So I was wondering if I stack +healing power on my armour will it increase the power of my regen health tick of the passive health regeneration signet or will it only increase the active ability of the signet??? Thank you for your time in helping me with this =)
I wondered this as well but I haven’t tested it yet. One thing I did notice was that I’m unsure how the signet even works. I figured it provided a bit of constant health regen but I noticed my health not regen’ing in a PvE fight so now I’m not clear on the mechanics. Does it tick only once every X seconds or something? It has to tick in the middle of fights, else what would be the point.
I love my warrior in WvW. I mostly roam with a small group of 2-3 others and take objectives. My standby is axe/warhorn, 30 tactics and quick breathing, which is absolutely amazing. Near perma group speedbuff and great group condition removal. My alternate weapon set is either longbow (for sieges) or sword/shield (roaming).
Longbow with the range upgrade is fantastic. You can lob projectiles well over castle walls and murder large groups of people up there.
I always have balanced stance; you’ll pretty much never get a stomp or rez off on someone otherwise, and it’s also great for escaping a bad situation without getting locked down.
You can definitely fight in melee, even if fighting a zerg on the open field, or if you are inside a castle defending against a siege. Jump off the wall, snare/root/stun someone, get your kill, then get out. Often a few of us will run around into the back of the zerg, kill stragglers or take out a piece of siege, and then get out. Endure pain is pretty much a must have for this. Between charge removing snares, balanced stance, endure pain, and shield block, you can get out of danger pretty easily.
I tend to have trouble with melee as a Warrior in WvWvW but then again I don’t have the greatest gear in the world but you have some interesting tips. I’ll look out for the range upgrade, that would definitely be useful.
Whirlwind attack is fully controllable, lasts between 0.9 and 1 seconds, and evades.
Its evade is chance based right?
This is similar to my sPvP build, I just slot 10 points in Defense rather than Tactics. I also tend to take the healing skill that removes conditions.
You are probably right, although it’s main purpose for me is to build a large amount of adrenaline very quickly.
Thinking about using the Berserker utility skill. You’ll gain full adrenaline in like 1-2 seconds and will do a pretty good amount of damage. Once it’s over, pound them down with eviscerate. Works pretty well.
Edit: If you time it right, you can fill up full adrenaline, eviscerate, then use Berserker skill and build up more adrenaline in no time!

Hammer sucks exremly much
How so? I think Hammers are good.
I agree with EKAN, how so? I’ve seen many posts praising hammers, warhorns, and longbows. Need some reasoning to understand your thoughts.
Not sure what abilities you’re using (not showing up). I figured for PvP it would be more beneficial to slot less into Tactics and more into Strength/Discipline, then again GS isn’t my main weapon so who am I to judge :P.
Axe/Axe is so good in PvE. For the following post, I will be referring specifically to PvE
Just on a side note, even though you’re referring to PvE specifically, I figured I could interject that it’s quite good for PvP as well
.
I somewhat agree that the warrior becomes a bit “predictable” eventually. I’ve started experimenting with other classes because of this. Currently I just use my warrior in sPvP since it is the class I feel most comfortable pvping with (at the moment).
Is the hammer’s CC better than a dual mace or offhand mace build?
take a knife and stab your table. let me know if it bleeds.
In all seriousness, you can’t expect inanimate objects to be affected by conditions, can you? It only makes sense.
Personally I would have to agree. Sure fire doesn’t any extra dmg to wooden objects in the game but expecting a catapult to suffer from a condition like bleed damage seems a bit silly.
Ole greatsword how i love using you in battle. This is mainly a pve question. What stats do i need to focus on. I know power and precision but should i add a little of condition since ima be specing into the Arms traits for bleed damage? Help!!!
Does the GS even apply bleed stacks? If it doesn’t then why build for condition dmg?
I really like it. Using sword/board and longbow. It gives a ton of utility, survivability and stacks tons of bleeds. Also the ability to generate my own fire combos or leave fire fields in WvW is a huge plus.
The downside of this build is a lack of adrenaline, so berserker stance becomes your best friend.
Berserker stance in my best friend even in dw axes builds where adrenaline is less of an issue
What are your favorite PvE skills? And tell me how to use it, please!

I really like interrupt moves in PvE. I tend to either have bull rush or the kick on my bar for that interrupt.
Also Berserk is great if you need to build up adrenaline for you build. Very good stuff.
I’ve tried using the sigils that promote effects upon weapon switch. I believe there is one that applies 100% crit chance on the next attack after weapon switch. It’s pretty useful in sPvP. I haven’t looked at sigils much for wvw or pve.
That is a great tip! I personally never use it to run away as it is always on cooldown at that point. I don’t know if you know, but it is also very effective to use right after ride the lightning in mid-combat.
I usually use it after ride the lightning and few hits so I can get some distance before I charge in again with the fire dash move.
Im personally stuck on my axehorn/rifle combo. I just wish the rifle fired a lot faster ranger shortbow as combat feels so slow for rifle.
Isn’t the longbow slightly faster?
It’s decent. Only thing is there’s very, very little to do to change things up at 80 (nearly there right now.)
By then you’ve experimented with probably every weapon combo and just greatsword through everything because it takes the least time. I feel like the other weapons need not necessarily a buff… but a mechanic adjustment to make them as desirable.
That’s is unfortunate to hear. Does it feel like the class has become “old” or “predictable” ?
I think the problem that one may encounter is not necessarily the dmg on the bleed conditions but the fact that most classes can remove conditions some way (warrior heal, necro has too many to count, engys kits/elixir gun, etc). I suppose it depends on how fast the player can reapply conditions and how long they can survive the scuffle.
Can someone explain to me how bleeds work in big group fights because I’m a bit confused. I was considering a bleed build sword based warrior but every time i see a big boss, they have full bleed stacks. does that mean I’m essentially useless?
I’m not sure what you’re asking. Are you referring to the cap on condition stacks on the large PVE bosses?
In sPvP you can try using a 2nd load out with an offhand shield for shield bash which adds a bit of mobility.
Also the root skill and bull rush skill help a bit. But I do agree somewhat that dual axes has less manuverability than MH sword.
Axe: the range on the leap is a joke and the damage is mediocre; I see no reason to have this in your main hand instead of a sword atm.
I run a dual axe warrior in sPvP and I can confirm that the eviserate dmg is not a joke. The leap, I agree, is quite short, but with my build, I can drop most classes (excluding certain ones like guardians and necros, expecially if they death shroud) in a matter of seconds if eviserate hits.
I just stacked up crits and and I use berserk to fill up my adrenaline very quickly. If you’re having trouble staying in range to land your eviserate well, use bull rush or the root utility skill.
Watch out that your eviserate doesn’t get blocked or dodge, else you’re gonna have a rough time.
Well technically the engy only has 3 useable weapons :P (rifle, pistol, shield). Gotta keep in mind those utility skills
.
and a 20 seconds bleed and 15 second block easy to dodge, cant stand against a 100blades or whirling axe, both out damage that in all ways, damage, burst, got remember that whirling axe make you invunerable to CC, and does quite bit damage.
i cant see dual sword be used in sPvP and ArenaNet sad we could build almost any build nad use them on pvp, you can that’s right but they are not viable as other builds.
AFAIK, whirling axe doesn’t make you immune to CC (I could be wrong).
Also remember than 100 blades may do more dmg but it doesn’t have the maneuverability since you’re rooted in place. Honestly whirling axes and 100 blades are easier to dodge/block (since they’re channeled) than many sword moves I would say.
Also, dual axe build tends to rely on eviscerate and if someone blocks that, you’re up the creek. Condition dmg with swords doesn’t run into that problem as often.
Does anyone else have noticed that Elementalists are quite squishy and very easy to bring down? Whether underwater or on the land it’s really hard to stay alive while more than one opponent comes by.
I find that using dual daggers and staying on my toes helps me stay alive. Dual daggers gives me multiple abilities to get away from a mob (or towards them) while inflicting damage.
You can always use your air shield, dash at them with Ride the Lightning, knock them back (which pushes you away as well). Then dash at them with the ability in your fire attunement, create a ring of fire, dodge away, etc.
Remember the ride the lighting and fire dash can also be used to get away from a mob, especially the fire dash since it will leave a trail of fire that will burn them as well. It’s pretty useful.
i want to use sword+shield/Sword+sword but i cant stack bleeding on any half decent player, he going to kite me, knock me, stun me, or evem heal through my bleeding.
Gotta use those gap closing abilites. Warriors have the root, the bull rush, shield bash, etc. Also Anet added the dodging to help with the stunning, knock downs, etc. They can make the entire difference in a fight.
If you’re going for condition dmg build, it may be worth while to get a bit more sustainability (the longer you live, the more you can keep your stacks refreshed), but I haven’t tested anything out to know for sure.
WvW any thing ranged, if you do step out and want to be a hero I think double axes spinning move would really bust multiple targets up, that move is even good on a single target because you also move while spinning. Most of out 2h attacks are slow and stationary.
I somewhat agree here. In my experience I find that range has the large advantage in mob style pvp of not being the sole focus of like 30 ppl. With my warrior I tend to use the bow or rifle mostly and only pull out my axes when the fighting dissipates a bit.
The armor starts to look amazing around level 70. Before that though, nearly every armor type in the game only has a few visual variants before level 70.
Oh bummer…I’m only lvl 27
Ive tried these, you get 60% chance on crit for bleeding, then the 33% chance to bleed in traits, go pure condition/precision, and these become incredibly viable in PvE (providing the rest of your group or event folks dont stack bleeds too).
Ive managed to get 21 stacks of bleed on a single target with this combo, which each tick hitting just over 100
Have you tried out this condition dmg build in pvp? Just curious.
I mainly use dual axes and mix up the 2nd slot with either rifle or GS (sometimes sword/shield depending on what I’m doing).
I do like my warrior although lately I’ve been losing a bit of interest due to the lack of new abilities/new look. I’m tired of running around in my lame chainmail skirt and shirt! When do you pick up plate armor?
well i just love, swords, and be able to use 2 swords is a range bleeding(bad damage btw,) or be close range and do some bad damage too
I think the sword is to be used for condition damage, not necessarily burst. It’s one of the few (if not the only) single handed warrior weapon that applies any condition dmg.
If you want to dual wield for burst dmg, use the something like dual axes, not swords.
The videos you saw of ppl using axes and GS’s are in sPvP or WvWvW? I find using melee in WvWvW pretty difficult as a Warrior until the fighting dissipates a bit. Running into a large mob to deal melee damage usually doesn’t end very well :P.
I actually find the warrior has a pretty powerful burst for structured pvp. If I use a dual axe build and spec for crits, I can usually drop a player in a matter of seconds (assuming I can use Berserk). Survivability is an issue at times and so is fighting 2 or 3 players at a time but its not that underpowered.
A good player can see/expect an eviscerate coming and dodge at the right moment, thus neutralizing the main part of the dmg, but this is part of the game mechanic and to be expected.
