I haven’t had a chance to play spirits as yet but I can imagine in the top 1% they will become viable once more. Condi survival is by far the most fun to me though and it is definitely viable in top tier play now we can quickness stomp again

it’s a nice little guide but there’s nothing OP about it. you can actually get a lot more damage out of running 2 traps and have pretty much the same survivability. also SB is very underwhelming as it offers very little survivability compare to a/t. thing about this build in general (I ran it for a few hours yesterday as well, with and without traps) is that it just doesn’t have enough resilience to live through all the explosions happening in pvp right now.
The thing is this build has the ability to restack the bleeds over and over again against condi clear build. A/t has less survivability then bow.. You have to fight close, you don’t have an interupt/stun and no evade, are you drunk lol….. Explosions aren’t an issue I’m either out of range or in combat with sword and dagger evades.
I see a problem with condis not ranger here. And the quality of players your going against.
Yes, it’s a condi build. Enjoy it before it’s nerfed.
Rangers always had burst bleeds especially with stuff like sharpening stone and earth sigils. Axe stacks bleeds faster though.

Yea a few do take a while but you’ll notice 90% of the time that’s because they are being pressured so hard they are running. It’s not extraordinary, it is OP.

Not instantly but with a few crits almost instantly. I have a few vods where I do do that but I only wanted to show either 1v1 or outnumbered against me fights because people have a natural tendency to mock the competition in the comments.
It’s crazy the pet can litterly crit 6k and stack a few 1k bleeds all in the same attack. Thats before I even do anything >.>
That’s fine, but how is shortbow more reliable? How is axe any different in “every encounter”?
Shortbow fires faster, I have it traited to shoot through targets, you turn and fire faster, it only requires auto attack to mass stack bleeds and hence is much more reliable at restacking them on opponents with a lot of condi clear. To add to this it comes with an evade, interupt/stun and poison shot. All of this with the added safety of extra distance.
Seems like a L2P issue if you ask me. When I get hit by entangle, the first thing I do is pressing LR.

Massive amounts of condi clear, insane amount of evades, huge toughness buff, pet buffs, quickness and stacking 30+ bleeds etc etc etc. It’s the old build on steroids. Try it for yourself

90% of people I immob through walls don’t realize it’s just happened >.> they panic when I jump them straight after and kill instantly.
A lot of Rangers played it before the patch but with the traits that enhance bleeding damage by 20%, all the pet buffs, Bark Skin improving your toughness above 90% health instead of below 50% and reduced cooldown on an already powerful heal… Survival Ranger went from strong straight up OP. Not to mention quickness
Why would anyone go with s/d over s/t right now? And why bother with shortbow when a/d is so much better? Pet choices were questionable also. With a hawk/eagle and GftE/WS/BW you can inflict blinds and weakness every 5s, and taunt for an interrupt every 15s.
If this was intended to show what needs to be nerfed, it wasn’t very effective.
Taunt didn’t sync well with this build there was a better option. Jag has higher crit and build lets pet do 1k+ bleed dmg when it crits. I use the dagger for survivability as opposed to dmg. The build has ample damage and I create builds that are good in every encounter. Same reason for shortbow over a/d. It’s far more reliable, poisons stack nicely and I can keep my character mid range with ease.
I don’t really see the issue here. You are still killing slower then LB builds. Please show me how this needs nerfed so badly.
It’s killing slightly slower than full power builds and has far superior survivability.
I see a problem with condis not ranger here. And the quality of players your going against.
I had 6 hours of play time to gather footage and played unranked the entire time. Not like I could pick who I went up against. In saying that, I did fight some top players in the vids like Nothing and didn’t struggle at all.
Had a few of these myself. Report and block. That’ll get rid of them.
Not sure why you bothered to block out your account info since we can all see that anyway, but it’s a handy reminder that the last reduced price offer probably attracted more scammers than it did actual players.

I don’t frequent this sub-forum and to be honest I never look at the red posts as I assume it’s likely always old/outdated info. As much as they are made to stand out they are honestly skipped more than regular threads.
When Anet used to make tournament announcements and post them as stickies they actually got less attention than standard posts. Assuming Pvp players are the same as anyone else my guess is a large portion of players skip past stickies.
Yes it already mentions it in game as I stated in my original post. I don’t want any additional warning I’m just posting this to maybe help that one person who didn’t notice them. If these scams didn’t work at all they wouldn’t be sent out in the first place.

Movement speed is complimented by the sword and slow with muddy terrain.
Actually thinking about posting a guide for this build because it is ridiculously good when played right.

I have been playing a build similar to this one … But it has huge flaws.
Any condi-pressure class will melt you down. Think d/d eles. There’s no way you’ll be able to compete them. Shortbow is flank restricted that makes it’s damage a bit jumpy. Also, bleeding is the main source of damage …

And You need to stack it from 5 different ways
(Sigil / Sharpening Stone / Trait Keen Edge / Elite / Shortbow attack / Crit = minimal)
While it needs to be mentioned that it requires 10 / 36 / 36 / 48 / 0 / 0 seconds just to refresh the cooldown. And from these – only the Weapon Swap sigil of Geomancy can be considered a reliable dueling ability.While all it requires is to wait 2 seconds and use a cleanse – and all of your blown cooldowns went to nowhere.
d/d eles will not only outshine this build – but even defeat it in a duel.
It definitely is viable – but is hard-countered in current meta in competitive environment. Simply because it lacks a full-cleanse and doesn’t provide the needed condi bomb pressure to compete in duels against sustainable classes.
The shortbow is the most reliable weapon in the game. The arrows fire fast, it has a combination of power and an array of condis and always hits when traited. I think you will find if you actually don’t hold directional arrows you will land a lot more hits while they are trying to flank.
But this is an example of why I want to make the detailed video to show a few tips and tricks that make all the difference and how to control the flow of the fight.
D/D eles are tough as is anyone at the top of their class, however, when you know when to push and when to pull the fight becomes much easier.

Directional shield wall IS new tech, they stated so in the livestream. They cannot do a ground based effect that alters its position with your own in the current game UNLESS it comes from the characters standard projectile and skill origin, like dragons breath.
Some call it new tech, others call it a fix. If a dev told you on live stream he can swim unassisted to the deepest parts of the ocean would you believe that too?
You know what else you can’t find? Any point in this thread where anyone stated range based damage was new tech.
First you refer to the livestream then question why I do? Truth is I thought I would add a few extra things I remembered from the streams instead of waiting for someone to mention it. Also to show what devs are showing off as ‘new tech’. See how this connects to my last point?
They also have the ability to put in much more varied and specific skill indication affects, something which could seriously help how unclear the game is everywhere from PvE to PvP.
..this is already in the game… the reason why no one knows wtf is going on in pvp and wvw cluster kitten matches is largely because of this. They actually added ‘new tech’ so you could turn it down..
You are, completly, undervaluing the use of the new UI options. A dev stated previously that their ability to change the UI per class was extremely limited AT LAUNCH
Showing off the UI features consisted of swapping legends back and forward showing a flip/glow effect and a noise.. how much hype do you want to give it? Also, yes at launch but if you take the time to read my post you will notice they changed this in SEPTEMBER, NOT NEW TECH.

This ‘tech’ has been a basic feature of the Guild Wars franchise since it’s inception. If it was/is so fantastic it would of came out from day one of gw2.
In all, I cannot wait for the expansion and I am really excited about everything coming with it. However, the title of this thread (Revenant-kills-existing-professions) is completely blowing things out of proportion (likely because it was posted straight after watching the PR stunt) and I am simply trying to ‘ground’ the hype being wildly flung around to save disappointment.

Edit: Things like directional shield wall are just nerfed shield wall, not new tech. Directional skills will require just as much if not less aim then nades. Swapping the end of your skill bar simply means your not swapping the start of your skill bar. Of course it’s going to look more interesting then existing classes because..IT'S NOT AN EXISTING CLASS
Edit 2: Revenant brand new energy management system is actually some of the oldest innovations developed originally in gw1 – too bad there’s still no capes!!1111!!

The super golem-suit in one of the Orr personal story paths provides you with hammer kills, weapon masteries from transformations are not a new anomaly. (And that’s with a giant laser)

I was really hoping to see the Mastery GUI. Don’t have to show them all, but give us howw they work in full, not just small teasers.
Those are things that aren’t ready to be shown yet, simple as that. But since we do have some things that are ready to be shown, we figured it’d be more fun for everyone involved if we let you see those things rather than nothing at all.

Completely understandable but it feels like your attempting to draw out the hype and it’s seemingly backfiring.
Rather than announcing a stream, drawing it out prior to starting, showing off fan art then jumping around in an unplanned manner would it not be wise to make a 30second – 3min youtube clip with the highlights?
Perhaps showing successful jumps, gliding, mobs etc and releasing the vods without telling us they are coming. Simply for the purpose of stopping the wave effect. That is a build up followed by a crash. You could even take it slightly further by releasing a mini forum post with info about the video.
Edit: I know this takes time to produce a decent quality ‘montage’ but would it not be more productive then to take time from 1 person rather than 3?

If its meant to feel free, then why give it an endurance bar? The character shown was supposedly decked out with Masteries to make the endurance bar longer, and it still felt so restrictive. Even with the Masteries, she was barely scraping jumps by the skin of her teeth, thats not freedom, thats just a good way to give someone a nervous twitch.
When they mentioned the level being replaced by the mastery points they said her account only had two points. Obviously 1 point in gliding and 1 in Mushrooms. As they mention there are many upgrades which will open up the freedom and give a sense of accomplishment by achieving it. I highly recommend listening to the stream rather than twitch chat.

Looked up your game history for the last week and you’ve had 5 out of 67 games that had the pre-mades stacked against you.

Like gw2 you are often placed with new players on your team in MOBAs. However they have a very unique way of balancing the problem. As an individual doing extremely well in a match your character is upgraded and you are able to carry your team effectively.
If you were a developer, how would you implement this system in gw2? How would you decide who receives upgrades and why?
Thats the worst part of MOBAs, because one guy in your team can feed enemes and carry them no matter what you do… in GW2 you can comeback due to team play even if someone got outplayed few times, because everyone is ‘equal’ since beginning to the end.
100% , so with that being the case you might say the way you decided the reason a player is upgraded is if 4/5 or more of your team wipes in a short time spam the player with the highest dps/survival and heal rate gets an upgrade or maybe the wiped team would get a speed buff to get them back to the point as to avoid a lopsided match etc.
These are just examples but that’s why I left the question open ended

You do realize that ‘lane orientated games’ (MOBAs) are actually the leading game types of esports right? Just a couple more viewers than arena type games..
I’m at a crossroads. I played GvG in gw1 and it was glorious. I played small arena in WoW and the concept was glorious (it just needed a good game).
As you mentioned yourself the PvP community is really small. But the WvW and the pve community isn’t. I think GvG’s are just the thing to repopulate the servers with those sorts of crossovers, not to mention people coming back to the game due to their favorite feature being reintroduced.
You could easily argue the other way but lets face it, gaming is evermore focused on the casuals and casuals understand lane gameplay and don’t understand the subtle skills being pulled off even without the clutter.
I hope one day to see small arenas, but I hope more that I’m not waiting until the end of August for any major PvP changes period.

If we have to sacrifice a ranger style to the druid it’s likely going to be traps. They are the core utilities least suited to the druid play style. What do you think?

Survival of the fittest now removes conditions at the start of the cast as opposed to at the end as initially intended.
Muddy Terrain is now a 1/2 second cast down from 3/4.
Serpent strike is now much more accurate as it used to be. (Atleast I’m sure as hell it used to be or have I just gotten horrible since my return)
Entangle no longer bugs on stealth targets.
