3.5 millions times $60
They paid for development, a nice profit, and sever fees for the next 100 years. They dont need revenue, they’ve already been paid. Anything more is just pure greed, and by the looks of it, sacrificed a good IP for extra bucks. They’ve blew it with this game, Im not touching another product thats associated with any of these companies.
lol, you’re funny. Aside from the fact that Anet doesn’t get that 60 bucks because of intermediaries and taxes, you clearly have no idea how much it costs to build and maintain an MMO. If they closed the gemstore today I don’t think the game would last very long at all before they had to pull the plug on it.
you dont think is right

It might as well, most cash shop games dont have a box price, getting rid of that cost to get in will bring in more gem store addicts. Make Guild Wars 1 F2P too.
That would be a bad thing. Cash Shop games are a blight on gaming.
This is a cash shop game, it sells in game currency for cash.
Do you have to use it to buy races? How bout classes? Or whole regions? Maybe some quests require gems? No? Then its not. Play Marvel Heroes if you want a cash shop game. Or Runescape.
Each cash shop game is built differently, but just because they sell a box doesnt hide the fact that this game is a cash shop game like the rest, who do not sell a box. Albiet this one has the most production quality , i think the box sales have paid for that and then some, they’re not needed anymore and if anything prevent people from playing this game and spending money in the cash shop, probably spending the same amount theyd wouldnt spend on a box.
A cosmetic panda hat doesnt really compaire to other games. Yeah, ideally Id prefer it not there at all, but when its just stuff I can easily do without, its not so bad. But still, making it f2p is only going to make everything worse since it will encourage things besides cosmetic fluff.
Id hate to see the game go that far, and personally i think cosmetics is too far already. In Guild Wars 1 it was impressive to see someone with chaos gloves, you knew what had to be done to get them , now everything that looks cool is like, whatever, someone spent cash on it. Cosmetics used to be a show of how well you did in pve, which made the game replayble , now that you can buy youre way to the coolest cosmetics, that competition is dead. Cash shop games ruin all apsects of gaming, not just competative pvp for items, but also pve for cosmetics.

This game was ready for new skills 10 hours in after I started playing it. By level 40 my warrior was completely bored with combat.
Lack of skills and customization with builds is why this game’s so dead.
So this isnt a game anymore, they’ve decided it was easier and more profitable to be a casino selling rng boxes than releasing content. Good job gamblers, its your game now. Cya.
Congrats on paying to win,.
I wouldnt give up OP, the way these things work youre due for a big payoff pretty soon, another $50 should get you what you want or more. I did the same thing, spent 200, and nothing, then the next $100 I won bigtime!! Dont give up, you will win, you gotta play to win. Good luck.
Quit while you’re ahead!
You cant lose… if you dont play.
^^^
Uh yeah we get whats going on… more accounts get you more things… 12x more mats but they also spend 12x more money on accounts so… you should be able to excuse it like you excuse gem buyers… with whatever current reason you guys excuse gem sales with, to pay for water or food for starving employees or supporting the game, whatever.. take your pic, so why cant you use that same excuse for multiboxers, and say they’re helping starving employees, or supporting the game for new content with their extra box purchases, so they should be allowed to have that advantage? We give gem buyers an advantage without question, why not multiboxers?
Read my updated post. It’s important to realize how paying A Net money is an entirely different method of gaining gold. Having 11 other signals generated for you by 3rd party software is using the same method (playing the game) but with a potential of theoretically gaining 12 times the result.
Its the exact same thing. You cant have it both ways, you cant be against multiboxing and FOR gem sales. Because its the same thing, spending real money to gain more in game money. Im for neither. But youre for whatever anet says is ok even if its contradictory, so … no sense discussing anything with you, you dont have an opinion.
Well let’s examine your example.
Small amount of clicks + US Dollars (in A Net’s posession) = Gold
Huge amount of clicks = GoldHow is this unfair?
I mean the game wouldn’t exist if the company can’t even pay their bills… I’m a little lost here.
Yeah youre a little lost, you’re worried about bills you dont have to pay or dont even exist. Dont worry about their bills, there not your bills and if they couldnt cover the bills they wouldnt have made the game. Bills have already been paid. Investors have been taken care of, game has been made, server costs are paid for many years to come. Gems sales arent here to cover bills there to make profit, profit that can be used to buy new cars for company employees or invest back into the game, none of your business whats done their either.
But save us the sob story of game company needing to allow cheaters into the game (gold buyers) to keep the game running. They dont need to , and juding by youre take of multiboxers you also dont agree to gem sales because its the same thing, but somehow you excuse it, because… you think they need to pay bills? They dont, so whats the excuse for allowing gold buyers (cheaters basiaclly into the game) ? whats the reason for allowing it?
Well let’s examine your example.
Small amount of clicks + US Dollars (in A Net’s posession) = Gold
Huge amount of clicks = GoldHow is this unfair?
You’re the one said it was unfair. That multiboxers pressed less clicks to get the same result. Which isnt allowed. I showed you its the same thing as buying gold, less clicks to get the same result. Which is allowed. They’re both the same thing, except one is and one isnt allowed. So which ones right?
Or boil it down even further: Being able to spend 1 keystroke and gain 12 signals is unfair because you didn’t spend 12 keystrokes.
So what about people who bought gold with real money from gems, how many keystrokes did they spend compared to someone who didnt buy gold and spent more keystrokes earning it the old fashioned way killing mobs, is that fair? I wouldnt say it is, but thats allowed in this game, so Anet says its fair, so whats the difference if they spend money on gems to make more gold. or money on accounts to multibox to make more gold? Its the same thing, except Anet’s not being consistent. Maybe when they release a rune of multiboxing item in the gem store, and people can buy it and be allowed to multibox with 1 input, then it will be fair right? because they paid for it? Well they’re already paying for it now with more accounts.
Point is , if you think multiboxing is unfair, then isnt selling gems unfair too?

Best player in the party is the worst player. Its a team effort so you’re only as good the youre worst player and it makes no sense to even ask that question.
ALL complaint threads talk about stuff that’s relevant to the game, if youre complaining about the game for wahtever reason be it offering an alternative, giving a suggestion why you dont like something, you are talking about the game, therefore making the thread relevant to the game, and others can respond with their ideas about the game which makes it all relevant to the game. These type of complaint threads, ones that comlpain about people rather than the game are NEVER relevant to the game and are nothing more than childish flame wars between 2 different types of personalities that are sometimes ammusing but never relevant to the game.
Oh gawd not another one of these threads again… I didnt read OP or any of it, but let me guess:
“mmo’s take time to be good”
“if you dont like the game stop playing”
At leaste complaint threads talk about something relevant to the game which make the forums worth reading. Unlike complaints about complainers threads that dont discuss the game, or ad anything to the dicussion other than useless complaints aimed at people. These threads are garbage and should be locked instantly.
Today’s the day that started it all, the day Guild Wars was released 8 years ago. Whether you liked it or not , Guild Wars is Guild Wars 2’s daddy. Maybe Guild Wars 2 couldnt match what its parent did yet, maybe its in a phase of rebellion, but hopefully Guild Wars 2 will grow up one day and follow in its fathers footsteps and surpass them. Happy Birthday Guild Wars.
Uhh if you havent notice, the way you look IE COSMETICS is a competition, so this game IS pay to win in that regard. Since when was only fighting a competition. Theres competition all around you, look, and it doesnt invovle smacking someone. Therefore its cheating, paying to get a head is cheating, its like paying the refereee to score points because you dont want to or cant score yourself. Cheating plain and simple, I dont know how any game can call itself credible when they ALLOW CHEATERS TO CHEAT in their game. How am I supposed to play a game where known cheaters are allowed to play?
This is actually a pretty good argument, with one small, tiny problem.
For the most part, no one cares how anyone else looks but themselves. So you’re really only competing with yourself. Since you can’t cheat yourself, it’s not a big deal.
Maybe you spend a whole lot of time looking at other people in LA and envying them….but I’m pretty sure most people don’t.
I dont envy them, i admire them, but I dont see anyone in LA anyway, the only time i get to see cool armors and weapons is during world boss fights. Thats when I actually see a crowd in this game. And who are you to judge what I like and dont like, whats the difference between competing for vanity with cosmetics, or competing for ego in pvp? Is one better?

A skin isn’t going to help you win in tPvP no matter how good you look
Won’t help you get Dungeon Master either.
Uhh what part of me saying “pvp isnt the only form of competition” did you not understand? Because obviously that went way over your head.

Not only should they be banned but they should pay the ultimate price – their life. A public execution with the victims present. Id suggest a big pool were we can tie up the perpetrator , and have all the victims stand around the pool and recount their trauma while slowly filling the pool with their tears until the accused is drowned.
OMG NO YOU DIDNT?!!? LOL
zips mouth
Permanent ban? Wow, they dont give those out for nothing, I dont even think spammers get that kind of ban, more like a temporary one. Whatever your guild member did to deserve a perma ban must of been something you guys arent aware of. I suspect they’re gold selling and obviously wouldnt let everyone in on it but instead setup these bogus giveaway events to move the money around. Seems like Anet got a hint of their activities through all the reports, most likely investigated, then found something that deserved a perma ban. If its a mistake, they’ll check their records and correct it. But Im assuming theres more to it then just putting up a few ads that got reported that resulted in a ban.
Nothing. Id like to see a new game that capitalizes on what was good in gw1 and adds to it. Anything Anet would do now would be trying to hard to please people, with no original vision of their own so it wouldn’t work anyway if they tried to bring all the things we liked back into the game. They obviously dont get it, and its not meant for them to get, we as players get it and will pass on the favourable game mechanics to future games. Anet did its job. Next.
Would you play anything in the game without reward? Answer is: if it’s fun enough, then yes. SAB is fun enough for me.
Maybe, I dunno I got my super skin farming level 1 over and over and after getting it , i think doing the game is a waste of time :/

Its art AND entertainment.
What is, the game? The minigame? Be more specific and elaborate.
Yes. Video games have art in them, and you get joy out of them. Art in, joy out. Its like asking is a finger a bone or a nail… video games are both art AND entertainment.

Jesus doesnt exist in this game. Theres no reason for Tyrians to celebrate Easter. However, there was beastly rabbit that terrorized a good part of the shiverpeaks, eating wolves , plucking worms out of the ground. The gross part was that it was a hermaphrodite, its had both genitals and would reporduce with itself and usually would leave half born fetisus laying around the mountains. Theyre not chocolate bunnies but we could collect those.
Not at all
Did you know real bad addictions have people in denial?
Are you addicted? To this game?
When I first got to LA the first thing that came to my mind was apart from the polygon overload was, where is everybody? It wasnt until they BUFFED the DRAGON EVENTS with gauranteed rares was the first time I actually saw players and their different armors in weapons in game. THE FIRST TIME LA fails.
I don’t know how anyone can look at LA in Guild Wars 1 and find it majestic. Maybe it would have been if it had actual buildings or something. All the cities in Propehecies, such as they were, were big open areas, mostly with some tents that people stood outside of.
LA was pretty hyped up the first time I played GW and getting to LA was supposedly a big deal. I excpected a city when I got there.
Lack of cities was one of my big complaints about GW 1 and Rift. The cities in WoW, like Stormwind were much better (and I hate WoW). Guild Wars 2 finally made cities worth exploring.
I thought the cities in GW1 were better. Yeah they were open areas but thats all the city was for, to stand around it, and use a merchant, or spam trade in the channel. They layout made sense to the game. Why would you want a city when players dont live in cities. People dont work or live in LA, theres no houses or jobs to goto or places to have fun, sure you can add that in and make it look like a city, but its not. In this game, its a place to hang out, use the TP, craft and mystic forge, thats it. The game should reflect that. Maybe LA will evolve into a city when the game evolves to need a city. This is just fake. Cities are places people go to congregate, trade, share idea etc. Its not a place someone out of the sky builds, its happens naturally.
Feng Shui is very off in that city. I sugest they bring in a Cathan to balance the cities energies with a new layout.
Boy is my post gonna be unpopular..
Arenanet needs to eat to. I agree that the holiday lotteries were terribly lame, but some sort of revenue stream needs to come from something like this (as opposed to guaranteed cosmetic items like backpacks and whatnot). Everyone takes a chance, most take a lot of chances and invests in their own future content and entertainment.
You may not get your loot drop.. But you could be buying bug fixes, new dungeons, WvW features, class balance, expansions, etc..
I dont understand this, you act as if they didnt charge for the game. They did, it cost $60 and they sold over 4 million. They’ve been fed, the servers are paid for, for years to come. The revenue stream you talk about that needs to feed them is just gravy., pure profit after expenses. Nothing wrong with wanting profit but it costs, its costs us in a game that allows cheating (buying gold) costs us in the way the game is developed as a money grab isntead of as entertainment. Stupid people will buy black lion keys and keep encouraging them to make more of this. Thing is I wont ever spend real money on this game. I spent over $200 on accounts and expansion in gw1, I wont be spending anywhere near that on this game by the looks of it. If those gambling morons can make up that extra money for me then good for them, then the moron game will be filled with morons gambling on chests and I dont want to be apart of that crowd anyway. So, no loss for me.
Nah, theres a better game.

Well I believe in bots because there are just some things people shouldnt have to do in a game and best left for robots to do. Mainly repeated tasks. If you have to repeat something over and over again that a bot could do it, maybe it shouldnt be for humans to do. I think we’re better than being human robots, so why waste our creative energies with mundane repative tasks? Anet should provide tools to make our own bots were we can program them to our liking. The game wouldnt be how long you can last doing the same thing over and over but how creative you are in setting up things to get at the loots.
Open up trade by removing account bound soul bound restrictions on ALL items.
Add a trade window so players can deal with each other on a one on one basis.
Add the ability to pick up or drop items.
These changes would improve immersion and make one feel like they’re in a living world (not a living story) where you can deal with real people, pick up real things, drop real things, sell real things for whatever you want. No amount of lore or words can mask the unnatural feel these restrictions impose on the game.
Add 100 more skills for each profession, unlock the skill bar restrictions. Let the players create their own skill bar.
Beetle racing.
What if you had 5 players from GW1 with all the GW1 skills, attriubtes, health, armor and energy systems go up against 5 Players from GW2 with its respective skill system, no balancing as in armour or HP, just one game vs the other as is. Who would win?
With the sheer amount of DPS and armour youd think the GW2 players would win, they could one shot almost any char in GW1 but… GW1 has 100x times more skills, more creativity and clever ways to adapt to things, like a 55 monk.

I cant believe Anet would destroy families like this. And not do anything about it. :/
Id pay upto $60 a month for this.
