When using the legendary trident Kraitkin at night, there used to be an aura around the player and the weapon (like so: http://i.imgur.com/vVCoixQ.jpg). Now the aura only displays around the weapon, and there is no character aura. Is this a bug?

This is still showing as out of 10 for me. (I have 7, and the tracker says I’m at 70%).

I strongly agree that dungeons are a mess.
They gotta fix that. In many dungeons, mobs are harder than bosses. This is kitten ..
Careful what you wish for. They will likely react to this by buffing the bosses…

Gunnar’s Hold probably knows better than any server (except FoW and Vabbi) how irritating and disheartening it is to be severely outmanned and stomped upon for weeks at a time. We’re not like Surmia; we aren’t going to come onto the forums and condescendingly tell you how you can learn from the experience of being flattened. We hope to be out of your hair as soon as possible so you can go back to a balanced matchup.

Since WvW drop rates (including badges) were buffed a month or two ago, since seems fair enough to me. Getting 500 through play wouldn’t take an unreasonable amount of time. (Not nearly as long as getting the Gift of Exploration, for instance.)

Microtransactions are irrelevant here. Server changes typically cost real money in even subscription MMOs.

Note that they also announced changes to pet/minion AI, so (for example) they won’t aggro things so much any more.

This was not built by the dungeon team, but instead by the living world team. William and I are currently working on other content in the game, which is why there weren’t any significant changes to the core dungeons this last patch.
We’ve been playing and giving feedback on the new dungeon though. It’s a different flavor from our normal dungeons, but still tastythey are trying some interesting things we will be keeping an eye on.

The lack of a progressive gold sink like the TP tax in GW2 caused the D3 economy to go through humongous inflation, something you do not see in GW2.
The D3 AH has a 15% transaction fee on sales.

I think this is a supply issue: a “not enough precursors” problem, not a “too much gold” problem. For instance, there are only three Colossus on the TP!

I’m half amused, half in despair about most of the reactions here. If something’s on gem store sale, gems become more desirable. So it will cost more to buy them with gold. What on earth did you expect?
To say it’s false advertising is just ridiculous. Anet is under no obligation to make sure that the discount applies to the gold-to-bank slots ratio too.
The answer, if this annoys you, is to stock up on gems when the price is at its normal rate. Or just buy gems with real money.

Definitely rewards. It makes sense for some paths to be more difficult than others, but the rewards should reflect this. They should have some pretty solid data on how long groups typically take to complete paths, and how often they wipe — so it shouldn’t be too hard to scale the rewards on this basis.
And yes, that includes reducing the rewards for easy instances like CoF path 1 to reflect how simple they are. Fewer chests, perhaps?

Magg may be predictable, but he has some strange behaviour — e.g. suddenly reappearing on the far side of the lava with you, despite the fact that he was downed only a second before.

Am I right in thinking that taking damage in stealth will cause you to become visible? I’ve noticed that when I use The Prestige in a WvW situation, I am often visible because I’m under heavy fire. But normally in PvE I will remain invisible.

I’ve heard that killing creatures above your level gives you a higher chance at good loot. Is the converse also true? i.e. if I am downscaled to level 26 in an area with level 23 creatures do I thereby have a lower chance of getting good loot than if I were level 23 and killing the same creatures?

If he stayed for 2.5 mins in between the two screenshots, it’s hard to see how it could have been anything but intentional glitching. Falling under the terrain can happen to anyone — I’ve fallen underneath the Claw before by accident — but there’s no reason to go inside the inner keep at Bay and certainly no reason to stay there. Doing so removes most of the benefit of the doubt.

Even as someone who was initially sceptical about the Xaoc move, I find some of the reactions here surprising. Is the idea that we should have said to Xaoc: “Sorry, you can’t join us because we have to keep this tier 8 matchup as balanced as possible. We don’t want to leave this tier, after all!” — and that by welcoming them we’ve somehow done something “unfair”? That seems ridiculous.

Holy generalizations, T7 has plenty of massive battles, it’s not some barren wasteland with only small groups of players puttering around. We have had queues almost every night for EB, often we have them for one or two BL as well.
Very much this. Same is true in (EU) T8 – big fights pretty much constantly, and plenty of “actual WvW”. In fact the description of T4/5/6 pretty much fits our matchup — except most of us know what we are doing!

You’ve just rolled in with four golems on the back of this dude glitching. All our siege def had gone, canons gone from the inner wall… Too right I’m gonna tar you. Especially after reporting it on here and you STILL go mob handed into there, after I report one of your servers players glitching in repeatedly. How much less honourable do you want to get??
He was spotted by other players doing it, I had a ranger/necro/thief fighting alongside him on the wall side. One of them was in a recognised guild (the name of which escapes me now so I’ll save the names

If this is the cap I’m thinking of, then I can confirm that neither the group nor the commander had any idea that the siege/defense had been taken down by a glitcher (though this does help to explain why the cap was easier than we were expecting).
To second Roo, we frown on this behaviour and will always call people out for it when we see it. On this occasion it seems to have been a rogue individual.

If there’s a new (read: extra) map in WvW, I’d expect it to be significantly smaller than the existing maps. I doubt they’d want to spread the population more thinly over five large maps instead of four. But we shall see.
Have they definitely said that all three BL will remain identical? I can see the reasons for keeping them the same, but one obvious way to get new maps whilst keeping the same number of total maps would be to make every borderland slightly different.

We had a good reset night, sure. Mainly we put up such good numbers because many of our players were excited about the prospect of finally facing an even matchup after several weeks of getting zerged into the ground. There’s no way we could have kept that pace up, even without your alliance.

Of course, but last week we were both being annihilated by Dzagonur, making an alliance the obvious course of action. In this case we have a much more even matchup, which makes an alliance a rather odder decision.

I agree with ykyk, and I think that’s why dynamic scoring is a much better idea: it doesn’t shut anybody out of WvW simply because opposing servers are quiet, but it does reduce the extent to which matches are decided simply on the basis of night/daytime coverage.

Yes. Let’s create player limits at “night” that prevents the majority playing at that time to not out number the minority.
Instead of player limits — which will shut people out — it would be better to just have a dynamic scoring system. If there are fewer enemy players in WvW as a whole, then the total points available each tick should be lowered. This seems fair since you should get less credit for holding a keep against an empty map than you should for holding it against a full map of enemies. And it will have the consequence that primetimes count more towards the score total than overnight/daytime.
If some kind of dynamic scoring were implemented, then one nightcapping server could not make too much headway overnight while the opposing teams are sleeping. In all other ways, however — karma, money, badges — the experience overnight would be unaltered.

From looking at the ratings I imagine UW will jump back up again next week anyway, RoF moved up 3 ranks in 1 jump after beating both of there opponents which gives you a huge rating boost while this week UW and GH were only 20k seperate so the ratings pretty much stayed the same
Worth noting that Ring of Fire gets a huge +131 ranking point boost only because they were ranked significantly behind WR and yet still beat them handsomely. UW will start off 75 ranking points ahead of RoS, so even a large victory is unlikely to net them a huge boost. For comparison, DL started this week 73 ranking points ahead of GH and their large 120,000 point victory margin only gives them a +38 ranking point boost.
