Hey a block of text.
Anyways I think a majority of people have come to the conclusion that Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 are not the same thing. Therefor pretty much don’t play the same way or do the same things.
This Wintersday is effectively same as last year’s Wintersday with the exception that there was no roll out of toys/content paths and some of the activities have been adjusted. It sounds like you have more of an issue with the game than with this release; since everything you mentioned is actually nothing new.

ArenaNet took a page out of the Micheal Bay’s book of “How Things Should Happen”
Everything explodes on death! (Including explosions)
Even dying plants can explode.

I want to know how she pops into the Fractual and talks like its her past. How did she get into the fractual to begin with. She clearly wasn’t there as part of the actual event.
It makes zero sense. Though I have a feeling she’ll be identified as an Elder Dragon next.

I think it boils down to the legal issues and how to handle them appropriately and of course providing compensation to content creators which is most likely to much of a hassle to bother with in the eyes of certain publishers/developers.

Amusingly the Fractal Portal in Lion’s Arch is a malfunction that has never been fixed.
The original destination was South Sun Cove but it took a Karka to the disc (the south sun cove side did) and broke as it was starting up. I guess the Captain’s Council is now calling it the “Fractals Research Project.”

The more I keep watching how The “Living World” pans out the more I have to say that I don’t even see it as a living world and that “Tyria is constantly evolving.” Such statements to me seem like an extreme stretch and more marketing scheme than actual reality. If Tyria was evolving wouldn’t everything about the world dynamically shift so nothing is the same three months down the road. While I’d like to see this style of evolving content GuildWars2 isn’t designed for it.
As for what we are being provided in the “Living World.” It feels more like Episodic Content that highlights the events of the two week and nothing else. Sure some parts of the world change as a backdrop of the two week episode but has anyone noticed any actual changes to the word that has had lasting and world altering effects beyond the overall story of the episodic content?
Personally I’d honestly like to see the “Living World” title rebranded as something that accurately describes what we are actually playing. Clearly “Episodes” is what I’d call them.
Thoughts? I am absolutely misguided in this or does this phrasing all seem a little stretching of the truth?

I associate goofy names with foolishness and an easy identifier of who to avoid.
I don’t care for it much but to each their own.

I kind of want to think that the 10 year mark is some sort of nod to the entire development of the Guild Wars Franchise

Its a matter of format and marketing. Larger more detailing articles are placed on the website. Quick blurbs and one offs get directed towards social media sites. Why have a whole new news article if all its going to have is less than two sentences?

Just because you don’t like something, doesn’t mean everyone else doesn’t too.

Devs implementing player ideas can lead to bad things… for example: ascended gear.

These people are most definitely very busy working on the game /managing the studio’s teams.

There is some legal issues when it comes to user created content being used by developers I’d assume.

Probably somewhere around 15-20 people I’d say work as the live team. But this is a number range I pulled from my hindquarters.

Stats are identical to the Apothecary prefixed gear. Which makes this gear neither new or special.

I wonder if ArenaNet has even considered for the slightest moment to shift their focus due to the public outcry this vertical progression thing has caused.
Of course I doubt they ever will go back on the introduction of it.. As once something is into the game its hard to take it out.
-Mike Obrien, President of Arenanet
Since doing Fractals (did them not because of ascended gear). I’ve found it more exciting and enjoyable to attain higher level of fractals than getting the ascended rings. I have both Solaria and Lunaria rings sitting in my bankspace; and still wearing my personally crafted exotic rings.

Suggestion forum that way
<—-
As for what you are suggesting… It is a need for the game to constantly keep people playing (day by day) Daily Achievement allows this. Its a good thing to have, going with a “weekly” would lead into players not having anything to do after completing the week
-Mike Obrien, President of Arenanet
This should of probably of been tossed into the Suggestions subforum

Never liked being forced to the same type of quests over and over again.
GW2s system allows us to do anything we want in order to complete our dailies..
We should want more freedom not lesss.

Numbers are stupid… we should just use the alphabet.

Lionsguard Lyn isn’t accepting donation tokens still, despite ArenaNet saying she will be during Wintersday; as it is after Wintersday and she is still not accepting them.

Those who used the exploits are obviously going to downplay what they were doing to draw sympathy towards their exploiting ways.
To me… this means ArenaNet is really cracking down hard on clear cut exploitation of the game, sure they of missed something or there something that appeared to make the game exploitable on the part of developers but if a player runs with it rather than report and cease doing it.. then that player becomes in the wrong.
This is punishment by example. To send a message to those who might consider taking advantage of an exploit and running wild with it; so they’ll stir clear if not wishing to face severe punishment.

Wouldn’t it be possible to simply disable the Ogre’s Whistle until a fix is attained? As well as clear up any animals enjoying the surfaces of Divinity’s establishments?
-Mike Obrien, President of Arenanet
Character progression doesn’t have to mean levels and gear.. I hope ArenaNet changes their mind on what they are currently thinking for character progression and see to providing something different.
Trophies of past victories to wave in front of everyone in player housing? Having npcs actually speak the exploits of mighty adventurers (players) in their daily conversations. Maybe attaining levels/ranks within the Character Order of choice, racial city, and territories beyond just going through a storyline
When it comes to character progression by attaining more power.. monsters usually nullify the power gain (because the monsters are also higher level now)… thus what is the point of it other than becoming less than powerful than you were originally. I personally want to keep the power I’ve attained already.

Orange pixel, anyone?
Wrong MMO.
-Mike Obrien, President of Arenanet
I thought there already was one… kitten.
Though there is a few to choose from
“Why <insert funny thing> in the monthlies!?”
“Lacking Endgame”
and lets not forget the classic
“I was banned for cheating!”
-Mike Obrien, President of Arenanet
I personally don’t support this… at all. I’d like this game to remain different from all other MMOs because.. if I wanted to play style of game I’d play another game.
-Mike Obrien, President of Arenanet
I don’t think the original poster has actually used one. They are terrible really.
First off its not an immediate revive, a ghostly healer goes about picking you up like a normal player would. Then after all that there is a debuff that pretty much makes you one shotable for 10 seconds. this debuff also decreases your movement speed terribly.
-Mike Obrien, President of Arenanet
The endgame.. what does that even mean?
If you refer to content well as we all know content gets chewed through faster than developers can create it. When you do get new content and you chew through it, it then gets toss aside and no longer counts as this “endgame.”
Is it repeatable content? There is a share of repeatable content available to us. Activities, World vs World, Monetary Wealth Acquisition(there is a title for that), Helping your Guild, Dungeon Running, Fractals, Venting rage on poor defenseless rabbits and other tiny defenseless animals.
Your rant doesn’t give any actual solid suggestions on what you are actually after in this elusive “endgame.” Content? More Mechanic-Driven Dungeons? More Fractals? More Lands to Explore? More Dynamic Events?
Really what GuildWars2 lacks isn’t endgame, its player influenced content. Whether this be player created quests, guild halls, player housing, or Player-Made Jumping Puzzles, Guild- We need something that we can share with everyone else and in the process create our own endless content.

I haven’t heard any plans plus it’d be hard to do considering race is tied into your story

I tend to think ArenaNet pushed this update before they should of.. making a lot of ill-prepared calls and design implementation. I theorized it was all pushed by the Marketing Department. (as everything usually is)

Since there is this horrible gear progression thing inbound for the game. I just hope Anet decides to allow current gear (you know the stuff we’ll otherwise throwaway) to be upgraded to the next level. I’d rather not look like some clown as I would in most other games.
-Mike Obrien, President of Arenanet
I’ll add to this.
Something to promote people to stay defensive and give defenders of towers/keeps something to do while not under siege and otherwise sitting around waiting for an attack to happen. (It can get boring to keep ticking away siege weapons)
-Mike Obrien, President of Arenanet
Really it boils down to valuing your life more through your pocketbook.
Are you more inclined to die needlessly if it effects you in some way? Probably not. Repairs bills ensure that players are not throwing themselves upon the enemies swords

I really think people just want to see Ascended gear (a notion of ever increasing Stat-Based Progression) removed from the game and thrown back into the closet of bad ideas never to return.
This is what I am more or less seeing.
I’m seeing people the complete opposite to be honest. Lion’s Arch has been completley taken over by spam lfg by people trying to get the mats and drops from fractals….all for better stats.
There is an apparent need to get it (stats are increasing we better stay on that train choo choo) Its also hard to say everyone wanting to get into Fractals is doing so just to grab the new gear. Its new content and it offers progressive skill challenges (to some extent) I personally enjoy skill challenges.
Though lets face it, most people will do Fractals in order to get the gear either because they enjoy stat grinds or because they have to stay up in the power curve.

I’m curious if the implementation was such a mistake and so many aspects around ascended gear was done wrongly and they knew it wasn’t how they wanted to go about doing things Why did they push it through?
Never used Reddit so perhaps someone could ask this for me.

I’m surprised MMOs don’t cater to the sandbox crowd more… how many people play minecraft?

Why can’t PvE be about having fun and enjoying content for the sake of enjoying content? Why do we have to grind?
Can I grind fun?
