When you become commander on one character and log into another you’re still a commander but error out when you try to disband. It says something like “Character not found”. So it’s making the whole account go commander but you have to log back into the original character to disband.
Overall with every elite specialization there doesn’t seem to be much thought put into them. Warrior is laughably useless elite. Ele is laughable as well in it’s kitten near uselessness. Necro one is nice, but fails to address any of the many many issues the profession has. Chrono same, it’s a great elite but terrible for soloing and still makes mesmers have the single lowest damage in the game by a wide margin. Guardian was a joke, in name and reality. Daredevil added more strengths to a profession that already held all the cards in the mobility and evasion department.

For folks finding not enough people to complete the event chains (or defend at night) have you tried LFG? I loaded into a low population map, then taxi’d pretty much immediately into an organized map.
In this way, it’s no different from Silverwastes. Empty maps progress too slowly, but there are plenty of maps recruiting more players.
Well they both suffer from the exact same problem. There is no incentive to stay on a map and progress it. Everything just jumps to another one.

My opinion, increase the length of day cycle. Leave the length of night cycle the same but increase the difficulty of it. Day cycles feel too short, that nothing really matters since it’ll be night soon enough and everything just resets. I feel cycles are too short. It’s nice at first and people help and do things cause it’s new. Give it a few months and nobody will bother doing anything or getting levels up of the fort things. There has to be some incentive to actually do the events, cause there isn’t any.
Problem with design of an elementalist elite specialization, how to add to a class that is basically nearly perfect as far as the game is concerned? Only way to make them more perfect is give them heavy armor and high health then they’d be totally perfect.
The base class is too good, thus nowhere to go with specializations. I can’t speak for how good the traits are, but the overlord mechanic takes A LOT of prep time. I thought a fresh air build would be fun, but it’s not. The prep work needed means the CD isn’t an issue. You can’t chain them anyway or you’ll be dead.
Meanwhile, the support guardian is crying in a corner.
Support guard respecd to greatsword burn guard is destroying things left and right.
So what exactly is so amazing that you can run PP again? I don’t get it :<
Most of it is the mobility that came from DD. Double pistol lacked mobility for all the damage it brought. With DD’s new mobility you don’t need a SB offweapon anymore. You can go double pistol and staff and they have amazing synergy with the new traits.
Ele’s are the most powerful class in the game. They’re the single strongest in every single area of the game, 2nd in some areas but never below. There isn’t much you can do to a class that is almost virtually perfect.
Tempest, is amazing with a fresh air build. Total glass cannon though. Absolute total glass cannon.
There is a huge mega gigantic discrepancy between elites. Tempest follows the path of Chronomancer in giving a specialization in what the class is already really powerful in instead of going reaper and Dragon hunter and going with something they’re weak in. Why? Elementalists are weak in nothing. There isn’t anything the class is weak or struggling with. Mesmers, I’m still kittened off with chrono. I wanted dps not more specialized unique support options. I’m absolutely tired with only being taken for specialized support options. They got the lowest damage in the game, and chrono makes it worse.
Tempest is only useful with fresh air.
Tempest is a boring elite because Ele’s are overpowered. It’s basically that, Elementalists as a profession is near perfect. Which makes it extremely overpowered. You can’t really do anything to change a near perfect profession can you? Though I get the rising feeling half the specializations changed since the announcement. I can almost assure you thief changed from rifle to lolstaff. Which is the single biggest disappointment I’ve ever had with specializations.
Can you decide yourself? I, among other players have been giving feedback in the elementalists’ forums. Not sure how balanced and tangible our ideas/feedback are, but we all agree the elite spec concept as a whole needed more identity and usefulness, even if it means nerfing base class to accomplish that. Now, they do what they feel it’s fair with the feedback we’ve been providing. We will see how much popular and used the spec will be, specially months after the xpac release.
There is a lot of conflicting things with specializations. Tempest is on the list of “Not very well thought out in any form” list. Other notable members are, Mesmer and Warrior. As boring as tempest sounds, to me it’s better than Chronomancer. At least overloading an element is a new concept and something kinda new. A new shatter, in addition not replacing, that’s on a 60s cooldown doesn’t change crap. Mesmer, the lowest damage class in the game, that’s only brought for it’s unique support got……..more unique support options. Yup thats freaking awesome. Instead of yeah know boosting damage, adding blast finishers or SOMETHING. You gave us a unique support buff. Great just great.
As damage, tempest sucks. If you’re a berserker wearing damage user it’s boring. As a support elementalist it seems fun. Gives me an option to not be staff and have some great support. As boring as tempest sounds, it provides amazing support elements. Of which elementalist wasn’t exactly lacking though. Which is what I mean by near perfect class as a whole. A staff berserker ele could very well provide amazing support because of water element, in addition to being some of the best damage in the game.
Honestly now, I think elementalist should only be wielding the elements they specialize in, but give them weapon swap. I think it’s a fair trade.
Tempest is only useful with fresh air.

Anet has a knack of never returning to a failed idea. Ascended crafting was a failed idea. It’ll never be fixed and never be returned to. Raiding brings in legendary armor, the new idea.
Anything that fails ANet just learns from the mistake and moves on. They don’t fix it, they do touch it, they forget it ever happened and move on. It’s a long running history in this game. Yes, they hammer fist a lot of issues and never go back to change it. Yup silk is stupid and damask bolts are stupid.
There is a massive inconsistency with elite specializations .
Dragon Hunter and Reaper both fill a void desperately needed for the class. They change a lot of the classes core mechanics to help fill such void.
Chronomancer and Daredevil both reinforce the meta role the class was in while failing to address that classes void. Chronomancer is the worst elite so far, it changes nothing but adds things, and more unique support skills. Mesmer already had too much unique support skills and not enough raw damage. The last thing they needed was more unique support skills and still no damage. Thief, long considered the only required class for structured pvp, is getting an elite to only reinforce that meta. So far, it’s extremely overpowered of elite. Now granted it appears to suffer massively at the hand of condi’s, namely weakness and slow, also they’re still squishy.
Assuming people can play at the same skill level, a well played DD will hands down be able to 1v1 anyone period. Just do to the fact it’s overpowered as kitten. So much CC so much mobility so much evades so much damage. The single most OP elite on a class largely with terrible and semi useful Elites, guess which one every kitten one will take?
It’s a fancy way of saying “Don’t expect 8 elementalists, a mesmer and a banner warrior to be a meta raid comp”
Though I’m pretty kitten sure speed clears will involve at least 5 elementalists.
Yeah… its not actually helping me knowing that I am getting packet loss…. I still cant play…
It will tell you where the issue is though, so you can talk to the correct people about it.
This many people all having extreme lag, it’s the servers we already know that.
The servers can’t handle the rush from F2P like every single game’s switch to F2P. They all end up with overheated servers and kittened off gamers.
Unplayable latency. I’m crashing left and right from the latency. Getting terrible ping rates. Server be broke.
I feel like I was screwed really with that portal event. They made it seem like the portal got you into more than just a really crappy event. That first beta event was a PAX booth test. You got a revanant with really crappy gear in weapons that don’t match their legends and neither that worked for pve.
I haven’t preordered HoT yet because I’ve still not seen anything announced worth buying it for.

In a way the highest package is also $50, as it includes 4000 gems which is $50 worth of gems.
It’s automatic, meaning when you hit somebody below 25% you will consume a condition on you and heal yourself if you do.
They’ve never been ones to refund things before, you’ll probably just either get converted hero points based on what you have unlocked or just have everything unlocked.
I got one in the bank, totally unsure what to use it on. The stats are garbage on it and nothing I’d use. Maybe pistol for an engi, don’t have one waiting on the removal of the ugly hobosack. I just can’t figure out what to get, so it stays in the bank.
I fail to see how this is a problem? During combat leaps will act normally. Out of combat you lose a small fraction of the distance, so what? It normalizes things and puts less emphasis on the few classes that have combo’s that made those work.
You’ll no longer be able to slow down the Brave Sir Robins who bravely run away with soft CC. Not that you could really counter the Usain Bolt warriors very effectively but it at least did something so maybe if you had a Justin Gatlin with you. Now, you just watch them dash away.
Not just that though, you’re also not gaining equivalent speed when you do have swiftness. The opposite is true. If I’m conditionless and swiftness is going, why shouldn’t my leap actually help me run away or to a fight? Seems pretty silly to me.
It gets rid of counter play and synergy within the game… can’t see how it’s positive.
You only mentioned one weapon set of one profession, greatsword warriors, who have literally the most predictable and avoidable damage in the entire game. So they have mobility with it? Great, maybe you won’t see hambow and swobow (?) instead. I’m okay with classes having mobility besides freaking thieves. I’m all for whatever causes thieves to go out of style and nerfed in spvp.
Chill is frankly a useless condition until it effects thieves. Who is largely immune to it because of their resource system, free to spam to death anyone. So I can now actually be able to run away from them…..GREAT!!!
I have nowhere near map completion on many of my level 80’s though. I PvP mainly and the last several of my alts were insta-80 with lvl 20 scrolls and the rest tomes of knowledge. I have over 10 level 80 characters and only 1 has map completion. That solution isn’t really good – especially since I’ve spent gold unlocking these traits already.
They said just by hitting 80 you’ll have enough to max out a good deal of the stuff. Keeping in mind pvp gives you everything anyway so unlocking them isn’t required for pvp.
For pve, well you’ll have enough to get a build going. If you want more for pve, you’ll have to pve.
Well if we learn from what happened with the original trait system to new system change. They basically looked at everyone who had bought some trait books and gave them every single trait unlocked but the last grand master which came later.
Now with this system being totally different I can imagine you’ll get compensated with skill points based on the number of things you have unlocked. They did say that if you had a map completion you’ll have enough points to unlock everything the moment the new system comes out.
This hurts the necro even more. Hai let’s give an elite spec that is hevaily based in chill which is the only thing a necro can remotely do to keep up with something, then let’s make chill less effective.
Okay then.
Reaper is extremely situational, and to the point where I’d prefer Necro over it in pvp anyhow. WvW reaper all the way, but spvp it’s just not good enough.
Until Chill effects Thieves the same as it affects everyone else, it’ll be purely useless in spvp. As Thief is the one that will kill you and they’re on EVERY SINGLE TEAM.
To be honest Geodes and that never bothered me, as they basically were account bound anyway. Even if they’re not on your character you can still spend them. Same with the black lion tickets.
You also don’t get a whole lot of tickets anyhow.
I fail to see how this is a problem? During combat leaps will act normally. Out of combat you lose a small fraction of the distance, so what? It normalizes things and puts less emphasis on the few classes that have combo’s that made those work.
No thanks, that idea just furthers the direct damage zerker crap thats going around.
Conditions aren’t going to be an issue about it being capped. There will be a cap, just WAY higher then will concern you.
Also with base condi damage being severally lowered it’ll change rotations a lot to favor them less.
They did warn us, there was a post here about it being removed till Fall and a week timer.
The market hasn’t changed, it’s as polarized as ever. Even back in the day some people played runescape and everquest and others played dark age of camelot and other pvp centric games. There always was a huge massive polarization in gaming between competitive player versus player and player versus environment.
The high competitive players shifted to games like LoL and DotA where skill is the prime factor as those high competitive players would rather actions speak for themselves. Settle it on the battlefield types.
The high environment types choose to do away with the whole ordeal, there has been huge success in games that mixed the two. Games like WoW where there was a fairly even focus on both which catered to the mass middle crowd but was disliked by both extremes.
Guild Wars was a game favored by both extremes and not the middle. The high competitive crowd never liked leveling and always complained about needing gear in other games and here they don’t need any of it. They don’t need to level and gear doesn’t matter. They like it, and the pve side extremes always hated world pvp and all that other stuff that they felt “forced” into. Which this takes all that away, it offers a large and diverse game and community without feeling forced to pvp.
Here are some of my biased impressions.
- Revenant is pretty lackluster in PvE like others have stated. It has flashy animations that seem cool but fails to hold up after a while. Damage is moderate-low, even on the mace/axe combo. It’s basically giving us a lv11 Elementalist and telling us to go test things with only fire/water attunement.
- I don’t find the class particularly fun. It’s not the damage that worries me, it is lacking in impact overall. I started gw2 on mesmer and their dps was abysmal yet I had fun on mesmer. Reason could be the limited legends or maybe the limited weapons.
You do know that in the beta you’re running Celestial gear with runes of the Dolyak. You’re basically super defensive with moderate damage.. Its hardly a good example of how high the damage out put is. Because on full zerker with might and cons that hammer will hit seriously hard. Basically the armor set up is bad for both a condi and power build. Its designed for people to get used to the profession, not to show off its power.
The base damage is low, and the fact that hammer doesn’t fit particularly well with either stance. Dwarf stance plays to a melee power or melee tank based gear build. Demon stance is the pvp stance for condi based builds like that mace/axe build.
Neither one does even remotely well in solo pve. There is a reason like 90% of all revs on beta was mace/axe dwarf stance. It’s the highest damage, now I got pretty used to the class pretty quickly. It’s more straight forward then I thought it would be honestly. What kills the fun for the entire class is the lack of choice. There isn’t any other stances but demon and dwarf. There isn’t any real weapon choices, but worst of all. There isn’t any choice in the utilities or heals or elites.
It’s a nifty idea to get double those instead of double weapons, but reality of it is. Every stance is just too niche with it’s selection. There is predominately at least 1 ability that just isn’t that good. The overall anti-condition turns out to be more like “I’m sucky against anyone but those that deal conditions” Even dwarfs heal isn’t that good unless you’re removing a condition.
overall the class design is better on paper then reality.
ITT: Lots of people that have never played engie or ele
Last time I checked both engi and ele got to choose what their utility slots were and last time I checked elementalists had 4 sets of weapon slot skills active plus conjured and engi with kits could have upwards to 4 sets as well. All of those being weapon set skills, i.e. the buttons you press a lot.
Where as Rev has just one set of weapon skills and 2 sets of utility both sets they have 0 control over which ones go in it, and those buttons being ones that are rarely used as they seem to be very situational.
hammer doesn’t seem to have any real focus to it. Without the ability to swap weapons it’s useless as a weapon apart from a few niche fights that is ranged only.
You’re more concerned by the lack of pet options and didn’t even notice you’re wearing only celestial gear?
Exact same comments about Revenant as was in the last Beta …
To be absolutely truthful, there isn’t much difference between last beta and this beta.
It’s little testing and mostly hype generation at this point.
First of all people the Revenant is not meant to be a major damage dealer. It’s a tank and therefore does low damage like a tank does. That’s why they are full celestial. Get your heads out of the stupid meta crap and think.
Everyone was full celestial in the beta. Everyone.
This is a thread about the Revenant not other classes.
What literally everyone was saying is, in full celestial every other class was doing more damage then revenant. All of them were doing more. Why were they doing more? Because we got like 1/3 of a class with this testing. It’s like giving elementalists a staff and only 2 elements and saying here go test things.
They didn’t give us the damage stance yet, it’s a defense stance and a very niche role condi stance.
There isn’t a role of “damage dealer” and “tank” and “support” Those are builds not class roles. The main issue people are saying is the lack of getting to pick your utilities means you can’ specialize in any of those or well in anything at all. The legendary stances, albeit decent for solo work, offers little options for specializing and makes them not very good in groups because of it.
First of all people the Revenant is not meant to be a major damage dealer. It’s a tank and therefore does low damage like a tank does. That’s why they are full celestial. Get your heads out of the stupid meta crap and think.
There is no “tank” based professions. They have a defense legendary equipped and a Condi Legendary stance thats their only options.
Celestial gear sucks on nearly everyone. It has some decent uses for certain build of certain classes but in general it’s terrible gear. It doesn’t allow you to specialize in something but instead forces you to be a jack of all trades, something the revanant is not able to even remotely do. Celestial gear is probably the very worst on revanant then any other profession, due to the very limited profession options you have.
It’s not a “meta” thing, it’s just how that profession is designed.
I started Reve, felt too confused (it seems to have pieces of every profession, it’s the Ichigo Kurosaki of GW2 professions) and went to Mes, but then realized I didn’t want to play without my gear and the likelihood of me unlocking the stuff I want to see and there was no shield.
So I went back to Rev, played pretty far in. I got used to it, it wasn’t bad. It could be fun, it needs some tweaking, and I never got into the traits or anything meta.
Also it was better when I stuck with Jalis.
the entire map stuck with jalis and mace/axe. Mallyx is only really useful if you’re going up against somebody that is a heavy condi dealer. Tormet is just plain terrible in pve, the damage is so stupidly low.
Just because the revenant is a new class doesn’t mean you have to like it. There is nothing special about it from the other 8 other than it came out 3 years later than the others.
Not every class is going to appeal to everybody, which is what you OP and the others are beginning to figure it out. A lot of people get hyped over the new and shiny, it is childlike but normal.
Remember not everybody is going to like everything and that is perfectly OK.
I really think you’re missing the entire point here. The disappointment has nothing to do with the class mechanics or how they play. They just severally under perform compared to other professions and leave next to no choice for customization of character.
This isn’t a I don’t think revanants are as cool as guardians or warriors thread.
Chill out man.
I agree, I felt they were weak slow and clunky.
I just don’t like the legend system, I find that either of the legends have 1 or 2 utilities I just don’t care for. They seem entirely too self condition based, which doesn’t actually increase their own damage. I don’t know if they’ll get better with better gear but in celestial gear they kinda blow really.
I really hope they add the rest of the traits and weapons and give gear other then celestial to actually test around with them.
If you notice, there’s been less and less water combat as the game has progressed. What water combat there was before has been minimized.
I don’t think we’ll see much if any water combat in Magumma, and I bet rev’s will be sucktastic in water as they don’t seem all that strong on land from beta play.
Yup and they’re using the cheapest building material available, mithril and elderwood.
Only signet I use on CD is signet of rage.
Otherwise they’re better used for passives. Then again I’m a big passive playstyle type of player and like signets as I tend to forget and not use skills otherwise.
I can’t say I’m upset about it really. Personally I’m getting a bit tired of thief being a required member in literally everything because of things like group stealth. I hate whenever any class becomes required really.
I hate how this game does dungeons, I hate skipping things I hate stealthing past things. I hate exploiting encounters by standing on ledges and other stupid stuff. I for one am glad it’s broken.
I fail to see how getting more items is a nerf.
After looking at the traits, I can’t think of a single reason to not take chronomancer. It’s essentially Mesmer 1.5
You don’t lose anything but gain access to an awesome clutch shatter and alacrity at the cost of literally nothing. It’s got awesome traits that make shatter builds AMAZING with the grand master.
That said, I’m not excited about it at all. Because it’s not a specialization it’s an upgrade. It specializes in nothing really. Dragon Hunter and Reaper both essentially change the profession into something specialized, new virtues and deathshroud changes. Mesmer 1.5 is just the same as Mesmer 1.0 but with a few added things. It doesn’t get a change really and doesn’t specialize. It’s so far the least appealing and most boring of all known specializations.
I wouldn’t really say its boring or unnapealing, more like in terms of our class mechanic, anet thought we didn’t need as radical of a change. The shatter skills have always been solid from day one and our staple build type in pvp, so there wasn’t a need to rework it in the way that reaper shroud reworks death shroud. I’m excited about it because the skills they add and the time-boon/condition management abilities really raise the skill bar for the types of things that the mesmer will be able to do. In theory the burst potential for shatter specs seems so much higher when you can essentially reset cooldowns and have consistently lower cooldowns from alacrity. I firmly believe that the chronomancer will be one of the most difficult to use but powerful elite specializations.
The reaper may have gotten tons of new weapon skills from GS and RS, but they didn’t get new boons/conditions, and with the exception of the elite shout, their shouts look kinda of limited compared to the wells we’re getting. For those who WvW, I can guarantee that the shield 5 and elite well alone with change the GWEN WvW meta into GWENM meta, and there will be more reason to take multiple mesmers besides veil and gank.
Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying Chrono isn’t useful. But I can see uses and needs for staying Guardian over Dragon hunter and Necro over reaper, but I’m really struggling to see why anyone would stay mesmer when they can be chronomancer. It’s essentially an upgraded mesmer. I don’t think any other 3rd trait line will top chronomancer’s traitline.
asura are in fact mammals and therefore do have breasts.
Where?
I always thought asuran were like Echidna and didn’t have breasts but weird milk patches. Charr probably are like every other mammal on earth and are only prominent when nursing.
As for Norn in skimpy outfits, in lore norn produce massive amounts of body heat and don’t require as much clothing as other races.
http://guildwars2.pl/about_lore_and_mechanics_with_eric_flannum_guildwarspl_exclusive,a545
Never saw this until now, but the link above is where I get it from. A developer states that Asura are not only mammals, but are breastfeeding live-birth mammals just the same as humans.
Well according to my Raiment of the Lich Costume, they don’t have nipples. Or they’re super kinky and they’re pierced. That costume alone is why female’s can’t always use male costumes, it’s super creepy to look at that.
After looking at the traits, I can’t think of a single reason to not take chronomancer. It’s essentially Mesmer 1.5

I’ve done the world completion twice and made legendaries from them way back.
Recently i have been mapping again on a couple of alts to get the gifts again for the new legendaries.
I have noticed however this time around black lion keys seem to have been nerfed from the maps (im not including home towns obviously)
I’ve had 2 keys from the last 23 maps i was wondering if anyone else has experinced anything similar?
I’ve noticed a drastic decrease in total key’s gained. I used to see them drop back around launch quite often but I don’t even think they drop from mobs at all now.
they should just give everyone 3 free black lions tickets so that people can actually know how it feels like to go redeem a skin of their choice.
Over the past 6 months I’ve redeemed maybe a dozen tickets and sold every single one on the TP. I honestly don’t like a single black lion set of weapons, chaos is okay. They’re all way too over the top.
Then again they seem to have a habit of matching them to costumes or current living story release.
