Nothing, most likely never will get one. Though my luck I’ll get something the day before the servers shut down for good just to spite me.
Jesus christ it’s not that bad. You’re proclaiming the world itself ended by what you hear on the forums. It wasn’t that bad and nothing needs to be done minus a few bug fixes.
The game was still mostly perfectly playable.
I bought 2 25 packs of the dyes, got all of them minus abyss. Got a few of them twice. Though the abyss appears to be super rare, it’s on the TP for over a hundred.
I don’t think medium armor looks good by itself so no, I don’t think so.
Medium armor can be summed up to the following two words: Trench coat
The issue with Spvp is yes the competitive players makeup a small fraction of overall player, but they make up majority of those that actively do Spvp. Thats why the queue’s are all kinds of screwed up and there is no separation between solo and group and after 2 mins it says kitten it and puts everyone in the same pool regardless of MMR.
You’ll go up against the top tier players a lot and they’ll destroy you.
Norm female look really cute. I may just end up using one of my tokens to change my norn female.
Humans, both I’m not a fan off. My human females don’t use the heavy makeup looks and beyond makeup there isn’t much change.
Sylvari – I don’t play as vegetables do I don’t care.
Asura – creepy both of them
Charr – okay for charr I guess, I can’t stand the running animation to ever play one.
Depends on what though, in pvp my vote is guardians as they’re the easiest to counter due to their lack of options on damage oriented weapons being limited to only the greatsword.
What are you even saying right now?
Meditation Hammer Guardian is absolutely insane. Way better than any Greatsword build.
This was off my own personal belief. In pvp guardians are one of the most predictable and easily counterable classes. Especially medi hammer guard, it’s the squishiest thing in spvp right now. Why do you think you never see good ones alone? Greatsword builds aren’t viable in the slightest, hell hammer build I don’t think is that good. You’re better off with a dps shoutbow warrior. They’re better at dps then medi hammer and have more surivability.
Guardians at the core design of the class is support. Any build trying to not be support is a terrible guardian build.
IMO witht the current leaderboard and system they’re going for, its probably better to remove MMR based matchmaking completely.
Do you want nobody but elite kitten pvpers to do pvp and have the entire game lose interest in pvp? Cause thats how you get that.
The game needs MMR, actual match making. So people can not feel overwhelmed when they try pvp because the games idiotic developers want pvp gameplay to last 3.5 nanosecs.
They’re nerfing it because of infiltrator’s signet. Which is the most abused movement teleport in the game.
Yeah, guardians are the slowest moving class in game, getting worse. With this plus the stability changes hit guardians hard I don’t see people taking guardians as competitively anymore.
How do you match make when there are only like 20 people playing?
Which there in lies the problem. Everything esports sucks and isn’t fun. Spvp needs a complete overhaul. From the bottom up.
Depends on what though, in pvp my vote is guardians as they’re the easiest to counter due to their lack of options on damage oriented weapons being limited to only the greatsword.
pve instances, necro they provide nothing but low damage.
solo content, ele but thats me they take 3 times the work as every other class
world bosses, thieves they die so fast and have no real ranged option.
The NPE pretty much screwed up low level play completely.
The classes that struggle the most: Guardians and Mesmers most notably and other low health classes because low health classes rely on traits and utilities to make up for having the health pool of a diseased skritt.
Guardians are nice at max level with max gear, but beyond that they’re really the weakest class in the game. Lowest health, low damage and completely reliant on active mitigation.
The real issue is thinking the game has MMR at all. After a set time in queue MMR goes out the window and it pairs you with kittenall just to get you through the queue.
I’ve been matched against NA Top players in solo queue unranked before who curbstomped the entire newbie team I was on.
There is no MMR in this game. You can’t honestly expect and think this game actually has match making?
What was with the necrobump?
Any people that farm an exploit for things are toxic members of society and the game.
Yes thats a bug and an exploit, anyone who farms exploits are generally horrible people with no sense of morality anyway.
The problem ANET faces with Spvp is that nobody does it. The top ranked players have managed to turn off literally every single new player into Spvp by curb stomping them repeatedly because of the games lack of match making.
There isn’t enough people for match making so they just randomly assign people to a random server and call it good.
Spvp is in a horrible place and needs to be reworked completely. Start off by increasing numbers to 10v10 not 5v5.
I really honestly truely don’t believe there is any matchmaking in the game at all. It has to be giant random mess. So can we get matchmaking? I’m okay with waiting 10mins in queue for unranked if that means getting matchmaking.
I’m very very very very very very very very veryv ery very very terrible. Like really absolutely god awful. I keep trying but every time I enter spvp I get destroyed in a matter of like 3 secs regardless of which “lolmeta” build I use.
So please can we get some matchmaking and some games for the people that are really terrible so we don’t go up against people that know what they’re doing and end the match 500 to like 75.
You think this is weird?….
/sI feel soooooooo uncomfortable right now.
See topless female asura with nipple piercings. I can’t imagine how this got cleared through Anet QA.
The issue isn’t that you need to grind absurdly for it, but multiple times as you wear different sets of gear. Most people got beserker for lolmeta but I carry 2 sets of gear on my guard and end up wearing soldiers quite frequently.
Everything that has to do with fractals is a grind. Ascended gear is literally only wanted for fractals and speed clearing dungeons which it’s only marginally better then exotic.
For fractals it’s required for it being the only gear to stick the insanely grindy offensive slots.
Agony resistance is a massive and worthless grind. It’s the largest most useless grind I’ve seen in an mmo. It’s a grind to satisfy a stupidly useless secondary effect of agony resistance. Thats it, gated for the pure sake of satisfying an artificial difficulty factor.
Ascended gear is only really used for high level fractals. Which I avoid entirely because fractals are the largest artificial gating mechanic from any mmo to date really. The grind to get gear with slots for the grind to get agony resistance which is a useless mechanic and used literally nowhere else then fractals.
No thanks, I’ll save my sanity and not do it and never do fractals.
I just want to know why female asura out of all choices use the male version of that.
Can we get standardization on female/male options for female characters? It’s kinda weird seeing a shirtless female asura with nipple piercings.
The skill is knowing when to use it and how to take advantage of it.
They promote good synergy. Though I have a hard time remembering what all of them do. A spreadsheet for them would be great if such existed.
kitten I’m sitting on 95% luck, it’s crazy grindy to get that high. Seeing your bag it’s like WHAT THE HELL DO YOU DO BESIDES PLAY?! Do you like live in silverwastes 24/7 or something?
Most players do not have 100-150 luck. Most are most likely sitting below 100%. Only few people that play ALL THE TIME have hit cap. You’re forgetting most players are almost always under 100g.
To be honest wvw is hit or miss really. Outside the big 3 servers, Tarnish coast blackgate and jade quarry there isn’t a very competitive wvw scene and even those aren’t that competitive.
If you really want to play on one wait till very early morning. That said, class wise just see what you like most. Elementalist is engaging but it’s also a lot of work solo wise. Play around all of them in the pvp area on target dummies and see what you enjoy best.
Sadly it’s true, if a game like WoW won’t update it’s old when it came out character creation nothing will.
I’m at least happy the character creation isn’t as bad as that.
I’d like to see a more robust character creation in general. I’d even pay for a character change token from the store if it came with it.
Also plate armor and boob jiggle is hilarious.
I agree trying to do map completion as a guardian is such a massive pain being the slowest moving class in game.
Guarantee the people here saying no are Thieves rangers or anyone else with a passive 25% speed buff along with swiftness skills and don’t see a problem with moving.
GW2’s pvp being decent? This is a game where 4 engineers and an ele won world.
That being said, he’s only here cause HoT is a huge topic going around. It’s the new hottness because, much to everyones expectations WoD blew.
However, I can’t wait till he hits 80, and goes to try to buy precursors to get a set of legendaries because he thinks they’ll help him. Then go to make a full set of beserker ascended gear on his Thief to get literally steamrolled.
The reason the matchmaking fails so often and so much is because there literally just isn’t enough people doing Spvp.
The main reason nobody does it is the same reason near the entire community hates arenas in wow. It’s just too kitten small of numbers.
I think spvp needs to be larger numbers at 10v10 and add a penalty for dropping group even in practice hot join.
Yeah, I personally would like more of a choose your own adventure style of story lines. I really don’t like the new story line to be truthful. It seems so, less meaningful and empty.
You get some randomly inserted filler content to hold you off because hey youre level 40 so we have to do something but you’re not quite high enough to progress the real story so here’s filler.
So yes, in every other game and literally everywhere else having a taunt usually means you are or have the capacity to tank.
Hearts are not quests. Rangers are not Hunters. Elementalists are not Mages. Guild Wars 2 is not “every other game.”
Taunt won’t make tanking a thing, though it will make less informed players think it’s a think.
Sigh, seriously get off the high horse.
In literally everything imaginable in existence in this genre having a taunt was given to things with the ability or potential to tank. So making that connection is extremely expected, and elementalists are mages with a different name. They portray the same thing with only minor differences depending on what game/novel.
The problem is that people bring preconceived notions of how these archetypes work and then wonder why things don’t go as planned. “Why would I bring a sword on my Hunter?”
Guild Wars 2 is my first MMO, so I guess I’m lucky to come in with a fresh perspective.
Sorry about the high horse. I’d fire back with some sort of witty metaphor, but to my knowledge, one doesn’t exist for “players who keep trying to turn Guild Wars 2 into some other game instead of playing it for what it is.”
Historically, hunters are limited to only range and rangers had both ranged and melee with both being viable. However, rangers never historically had pets that was a hunter/beast master thing.
Most of these archetypes all come from Dungeons and Dragons, and really they haven’t changed much if at all. Even Guild Wars keeps pretty true to the old archetypes.
It was admirable that guild wars has tried to get rid of the holy trinity, tank healer dps, that has always been in place with roleplaying games. However, that lack leaves them without a lot of options. Which is why gw2’s pve instances leaves a lot to be desired. With no reliable way of keeping mobs attention and no real threat system it leaves you with kill them before they kill you. Hence the zerker meta, it’s highest damage. We basically have an instance of only dps with no tank or healer. So adding some sort of semi viable tank or healer esque thing will do wonders for lesser skilled players. As a large complaint with them is the inability to dodge things because of poor reaction time, which is me
poor reaction time.
However, we’ll have to see where specializations are going. As we know literally next to nothing about them. They seem like they could be slowly moving more to the trinity side to allow build diversity without making it required to have one.
The only effect taunt will have on bosses with the break bar (which would be pretty much every boss) would be reducing the bar, without the effects of the CC. And trash mobs die so easily that there isn’t really much of a point.
Depends, I can see taunts being used for positioning during burst moments. Break the bar and then taunt him to a key area for environmental damage. But that would be one encounters mechanic and not a widespread thing.

I believe they go rid of the server ranking system now. You’re just stuck in the ones you’re at. I play on Tarnished Coast so we’ll always be against black gate and jade quarry.
Easiest way to get it is to setup a group that all want it. Get a group or two and just go around doing map completion. You’ll be large enough that the roamers will ignore you. As long as you avoid the zergs and have some presistance in waiting for conflicts to die down it’s pretty doable.
So yes, in every other game and literally everywhere else having a taunt usually means you are or have the capacity to tank.
Hearts are not quests. Rangers are not Hunters. Elementalists are not Mages. Guild Wars 2 is not “every other game.”

Again….like I said, being given a taunt doesn’t imply that tanking is possible. In a round about way I’m sure people will try to make it work. Wear Nomad’s or Sentinels gear, spec very defensive and use a sword/shield or mace/focus or other defense weapons. The only issue is we don’t know what abilities will get taunts or where they’re going.
Breakout mechanic, old defiant mechanic, prevents it on major bosses but still the method would still work to lesser creatures.
For a lot of players, like myself, I rarely if ever do instances and don’t do a heck of a lot of events so these quirky builds are something I enjoy fiddling around with.
Until the taunt changes go in with HoT we don’t have any form of ability to tank. And even with that change it’s not going to cause a sudden need for tanks as survivability and healing are still not here.
Why do people still think taunt = tank and ignores defiant?
With no viable threat system in place there can’t be a “tank” per say, but with a taunt brings about a form of threat management. However it’s limited in usage but still brings the ability. However, it largely depends on what weapons they get attached to. With the new changes and break out bar we’ll have to see how viable taunts will have. They’ll certainly have their place but again they won’t be a tank. It’s only attributed to that because taunts is a core mechanic of tanks. So yes, in every other game and literally everywhere else having a taunt usually means you are or have the capacity to tank.
In reality nobody really uses zerker gear all the time. Bosses like Teq can’t be crit at all and thus make zerker gear completely useless.
I use Zerker gear all the time in dungeons. I use Soldiers on Teq usually, but I’ve run it in Zerker a few times forgetting to change. No big deal. Slight DPS loss thanks to less of a buff from Sharpening Stones, but it’s marginal.
It’s hilarious how few people can dodge the wave, by the way.
Still, and this never seems to get through to people, GEAR IS ONLY PART OF BUILD. Gear has relatively little impact on play style: weapon choices and traits really affect quite a bit more. sigh.
True but it does vary pretty extensively on the class as well. Some classes don’t work very well in open world in zerker gear. I don’t wear it on my guardian and favor soldiers, I also don’t have very good reaction time and need a handicap.
Problem with traits, is the new trait system blows chunks. Like completely blows chunks. So new players don’t even have anything unlocked to use a proper build. Let alone any idea how to go about doing that. Build design is a bit complex to be truthful and without any way to remember or save builds most times people will look up a meta build because nothing is saved.
Having preset builds will do wonders for build design.
I completely agree. This is ridiculous. If this is going to be a requirement at least even out the teams so it’s not 10 vs. 100! Unless you have a very good group and you’re going after everything , this is nearly impossible. Chances of getting this are 1 in 100 most of the time. Please remove it from world completion. It’s stupid to have pvp as part of a pve achievement.
It’s not that hard really. Wait till team rotation and you can get them more reliably. Don’t go during big peak hours where people are competitively playing WvW. Rarely will you see such lopsided numbers like 10 vs. 100, you’ll see zergs yeah but your issue with map completion isn’t zergs it’s the roamers. Because roamers are targeting people like map completionists first. They’re easy targets. Get a small group and do it as a team. It’ll deter the roamers.
The issue with silk mainly is that the best way to farm silk is to have a lower level character open bags. If you’re 80 and open like wvw bags you’re getting level 80 items that often times don’t salvage into a lower tier material like silk. So you’re best bet to farm is send bags to an alt in the level range for silk.
Cloth is notorious as being unreliable as an item to obtain. There isn’t any world nodes to farm other then a cloth rack in your home instance. With drops being dependent on player level primarily you can’t get lower tier gear so easy.
Silk was added to the ascended because frankly it was useless prior. It was dirt cheap not used and went for pennies. Now Silk is the single most expensive crafted item. It’s being complained about because it’s more expensive then tier 6, which we can easily get at 80.
Its a flawed system, but it’s not going to get fixed in itself. Personally I just would like a reliable way to farm or obtain it easier.
Rumor has it that it is being removed from map completion in HoT.
Usually I just get a group of guildies and we go around the map for completion and doing things like the WvW jumping puzzles. One group is usually enough to fend most roamers off of you. Avoid zergs and it’s fine.
But if you’re going solo, yeah expect roamers to follow you and target you repeatedly. Thats what roamers do.
I’m not exactly sure what MMO’s you were playing because this isn’t the case at all, outside of PVE GW2 has more viable builds than any other MMO.
And in PvE it’s ~exactly equal to any other MMO. You have 1 optimal build (assuming the MMO has power-altering builds, WoW tried to abolish this concept with their talent-triplets which was a great idea but fell way flat), spec it or be suboptimal.
Actually the belief here is pretty much false. There is an opinion of one optimal build, but reality is that “optimal” build is only optimal in a very specific situation with a very specific group comp. People don’t realize how often top players will swap things around. Even in PvE instances, you’ll swap things around for trash and bosses and changes things to fit the situation. You can be just find with a more balanced build and not swap things around and save some time by not swapping.
There isn’t one single optimal build that is the standard setting build here. It’s widely up to interpretation and speculation. Where as other MMO’s, like wow, you have damage meters and have tanks and healers and dedicated jobs to cover you. So you have a set measurement. Here we don’t have that. Until the taunt changes go in with HoT we don’t have any form of ability to tank. And even with that change it’s not going to cause a sudden need for tanks as survivability and healing are still not here.
Basically they have to rework precision to offer a smaller increase in crit, and ferocity to offer a significantly smaller increase in crit damage. Basically precision should have soft caps for your crit percentage so it’s seen as not worth you’re effort if you have any traits that increase your crit.
Healing needs to be buffed majorly, to actually give it a point to using it. Also boons and condition system needs an overhaul. All damage condition should stack, burn poison not just bleed. So to make other conditions worth using and not just bleed being the only good condi to use.
The core condition/boon system is partially why power builds are meta. If you’re a condi player it’s common occurrence for your dots to drop off and be replaced by a power user with no plus to condition.
However, I think they’re doing good steps in eliminating the meta. If you look at it, meta is only meta on paper. In reality nobody really uses zerker gear all the time. Bosses like Teq can’t be crit at all and thus make zerker gear completely useless.
Yeah it needs to be cheaper, frankly more then half the time I enter edge of the mists there is no commander and random mob. Why? because nobody can afford it. The times we do have a commander it’s one of the same 6 that do edge all the time.
I play on Tarnished coast, a large server and we have a problem not having commanders most all the time. I can’t imagine what it’s like on smaller servers.
Can we make commander tags cheaper? There is literally 0 reason for it to be so expensive other then preventing half the map from having a tag. For how required they are for wvw and how edge of the mists is supposed to be for leveling and learning and not too organized, there isn’t a single thing in place designed to get the group some organization. No cheap commander tags only usable in edge nothing. Something needs to be changed to the commander tag system. Either make it worth the while to spend 300 kitten gold on it or make it cheaper. This is stupid.
Because they don’t exist in this universe maybe?
Most of the hair styles exist because it has to do with the races in game cultures. I don’t see why people want everything in the real world pushed into the game world event though it doesn’t exist there.
First of all, don’t put full trust in metabattle. What it ranks as a top build isn’t always a top build. It’s basically one guy with his own opinions, things such as beserker gear (while yes being statically the best choice) is often times swapped out for something with vitality or toughness on it as you’re squishy as a kitten with full zerker gear.
You’re best off going to these forums and asking around. You’ll get a much better idea.
Aren’t they also account bound and not character bound? so drop it in the bank and swap it around.
I wouldn’t say there is a perfect class for that. Thieves can do very well at roaming, provided you’re good at a thief. Warriors do pretty good but aren’t nearly as mobile as a thief.
Really you can build out nearly all classes for that but for roaming I’d say a good thief is best. You have to be able to 1vX your opponents and really a good thief can take on 2 or 3 or more and handle them fine. Provided you’re good.
Oh god yes, the ability to save builds would be super amazing. I don’t even need the gear swapping or even utilities but build swapping YES PLEASE! I swap them out all the kitten time.
Gotta love it, lets introduce an insanely expensive, time gated item just to get rid of the hundreds upon hundred upon hundreds of absolute crap drops you get bombarded with. Yeah Mawdrey can go suck a fat one. I’ll continue to delete them thanks. Aint nobody got time for that.
