I just want to know why Asuran females use the male model for Raiment of the Lich
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Raiment_of_the_Lich
It’s topless, with nipple piercings pretty much. I wish they’d use the female model for armor sets.
Then again, I wish I got an option. I’d love my human female guardian to use male model designs sometimes to have a baddass armored female.
So unless I played through the content at a certain time, it is completely locked out and I can’t experience it?
Reasons like this is why I prefer single player games…
And reactions like that is why they changed the mechanic for Season 2 to allow people like you to experience it. At least give them credit for learning.
Unfortunately they have isolated many people who missed season 1. I know some people don’t care, but a lot of us also do. It’s like showing season 1 of a TV show for a limited time!
Thats why I haven’t started it. I missed out and it feels lame to be starting something at the end of season 2 when you have no idea whats going on.
My single largest grip with mmo’s is when they remove content. I just can’t fathom why anyone in their right mind would remove content they worked hard to create.
I quite wow because of their insensate need to remove anything and everything.
I hated, with a massive passion, the destruction of lions arch and the removal of aspects of the game that came as a result.
The removal of season 1 is just ridiculous. I’m okay with buying it for gems, make it happen A-net. Or give it for free as part of the new expansion.
Good source of gear is from the gear vendor in WvW bg’s. They sell gear for really fairly low amount of money with honor tokens as well. They come in a number of stat configs but don’t have runes in them. So buy cheap ones off the TP and do a few edge of the mists and you’ll have enough tokens for those. It’s a decent full set of gear.
Dang, that kinda blows. Maybe we’ll see it appear in the gem store along with pre-NPE character personal storys. Because the pacing on those and story are vastly superior to current.
It seems every match I do it’s a decimation on one side. I’ve seen very little matches that have less then a 100 point difference at the end of the match. Vast majority are hundreds of point differences.
It just seems like you either get curb stomped or you wreck the place. There doesn’t seem to be any remote close matches going on. Is matchmaking that screwed up or is there just not enough people doing it for the matchmaking to actually be able to work.
I get the feeling it’s the later of the two problems.
We need an Edge of the Mists for structured pvp, also can we bump up maps to 10v10?
I have a question on matchmaking, it doesn’t seem to do anything for me. I’m not that good in structured pvp so I usually end up at the bottom almost every time. Sometimes I win because the rest of the team is good, but rarely am I actually much help.
Why isn’t match making system placing me against teams more of my own skill level? Do teams like that even exist? The more I’ve done structured pvp the more I found out that only the really good players actually do it. Which means for newer players learning pvp, it’s entirely a waste of time. There is no reliable methods in game for learning how to get better. Is this something that is actually a concern to you guys? Or are you just waiting for everyone to just reroll turret engineer?
With the removal of all maps that aren’t control a point engineers have been unbeatable.
They’re the single best bunker build class in the game, they have unbeatable defense and very strong offense to go with it and in a braindead easy package. The reality is structured pvp balance is down right abysmal. Between matchmaking not doing a kitten thing and classes being all sort of out of whack.
Over all, the new changes has been mostly negatively received. New player experience, got a lot of negative feedback. The new trait system is simply put, awful. The new daily and monthly system is lackluster and provides less choice then before.
I’m really not understanding what anet is thinking with these choices. They say they want to provide more choice and options but the changes do the opposite and limit choices and options.
All in all, very little has changed since launch of the game. There has been some tweaks to numbers but overall nothing has changed. Outdoor bosses gave certain builds more attention then they got in instances, but instances are the same as ever.
If you ignore the meta and play what you want and have fun then the game is great and a blast. If you’re focused on being number 1 and min/maxing and going all meta then this game isn’t for you.
Blizzard is a company that refuses to learn from past mistakes and refuses to listen to anyone at all. It’s why every expansion goes in a different direction and why everything is a knee jerk reaction.
A net has their own issues don’t get me wrong, but unlike wow you don’t pay a recurring cost for this game.
Ultimately the thing that is the biggest fault of this is a game wide trading post that isn’t based on any game economy.
Game wide trading post was the biggest fault of Diablo 3 and was why loot had abysmal drop rates. Getting rid of it there was a major step forward in the average players entertainment value.
For a game like this that focuses on play how you want, and with gear like even legionaries being marginally better then cheap alternatives it’s surprising that things like precursors are so expensive.
The game needs to remove the trading post or completely re-evaluate the intention behind it and loot systems in general. In order to made drops more rewarding.
Such as:
Increased reward chance in the lottery well if you throw in 4 self crafted items.
Give bosses the ability to scale to the number of surrounding players so you can’t zerg them and give them substantial reward increase.
Give kharma vendors items that actually make you want to use kharma, and let you pick the stats on kharma gear, because face it the 80 sets have absolutely craptastic stats.
Can somebody explain why the NPE is bad? I just see people saying it’s bad but why exactly? I don’t like the trait system, it’s stifling and prevents any sort of build experimentation. Forces you to look up which ones are worth getting for a generic cookie cutter build.
For me, personally, it is a combination of weapon skills and utility skill unlocks being pushed further into the process, a lack of a steady stream of skillpoints, the lock on downed and underwater skills, and the way the personal story can now only be done every 10 levels. Additionally, the personal story has been butchered, so there’s that, too.
See thats the kind of constructive feedback that needs to be in here. Stating exactly what you don’t like. Just saying NPE is very broad and not really specific as to what is wrong exactly.
I don’t like how screwy the story is now, but I do think it needed to be adjusted and more streamlined. I just don’t think they did it quite to the point where people would be happy with the results. Yeah downed being disabled and lots of other things was a big problem too, it should have remained locked but just unlocked at like level 4 or something low.
Can somebody explain why the NPE is bad? I just see people saying it’s bad but why exactly? I don’t like the trait system, it’s stifling and prevents any sort of build experimentation. Forces you to look up which ones are worth getting for a generic cookie cutter build.
I think most of the issues with the whole items thing has been the same issue since launch. Stats are still very much unbalanced. Condition Damage is a very crap stat for most classes because of how the game handles conditions. Admit it, the game handles conditions in the worst way imaginable. Healing power is a worthless stat because of how the game handles boons, you get a marginal bonus on the heals that isn’t worth the tradeoff of the damage loss. Which without being able to be a full healer, you’re going to need damage. You’re best off being straight damage gearing and playing in a support fashion, you’re more of a help.
I’d love to see this too, as an avid WvW player every once and a while there is some kitten who emote spams on the enemy side so when they invade you can’t read chat because it’s filled with stupid emotes.
The cheaper precursors are ones that are part of niche specs for select classes. Torch is only useful in a hand of builds and not very good in half of all classes that can even equip it.
Compare that to staffs and greatswords which are very solid weapons for almost everyone that can use them. Which is why’re they’re really really expensive.
Weapon skills aren’t very even to be honest. It wasn’t at launch and I’m surprised they haven’t tweaked them to make certain weapons more appealing and useful.
I only say that as A-net seems be brutally against having a match making system put into practice. So if you hit a certain threshold you no longer see new players or low ranked players.
Anything to help me learn what to be doing without getting curb stomped like seems to be the case. It’s interesting but it just seems like A-net has been lowering the options and diversity instead of broadening it. For both pve and pvp. They’re driving people away instead of keeping them in.
Why isn’t there a practice mode where you join and fight a team that is an AI team? So you can learn the maps and such without getting curb stomped like normal practice matches. I’m a fairly newer player and tried to join what I thought was the most basic pvp, practice, we ended up getting curb stomped something fierce. Every match I’ve done was the same way.
Why isn’t there a very very basic mode so I can play with a full team of AI, versus a full team of AI so I can figure out what to do without dying in 3 seconds. There isn’t a single bit of new player user friendliness in this game or any other game in the history of games that offered competitive gaming. So why don’t you be the first, offer a wide variety of intro level basic pvp.
Also is that you He4rTL3sS?!
No, I really don’t like adding numbers into names. It looks stupid to me.
When I leveled my guardian I pretty much used a greatsword and didn’t fully understand traits and ignored them mostly. I didn’t really use any other weapons except a staff so I don’t understand what all they do at all. I tried an elementalist, but when I leveled that to 30 so far, I stayed in fire and didn’t really ever go into any other element.
I’m a very big casual player, and pvp has a tendency to move faster then my brain can keep up with. So I know I’ll never be good. My only goal is to not be a team liability. I’ll try a bunker build, but I don’t really understand team synergy really.
Even in the pve side, I don’t really understand how synergy quite works in this game. I know I can apply regen to people, which I guess is like a heal but kinda crappy. I’ve never really experimented really in classes. This game being so drastically different then any other mmo I’ve played it’s kinda daunting to get used to.
I’m talking most basic of the most basic. By I have no idea what I’m doing in pvp, I really truly absolutely mean I have no freaking idea what I’m doing.
I barely have a remote grasp on what all my abilities do on my one 80, guardian. Other classes? I haven’t the faintest idea. I’d like to get into pvp, but I need something for the absolute beginner noob. Like really really sucky, absolutely crap player.
I don’t care about max output or potential, because remember I suck something fierce. I just need the most basic class with the most basic setup to learn from. I know the basics of combo fields and finishers, but I don’t know what all does what. Let alone who applies them.
So pvp 101, intro to introduction would be great.
I’ve tried pvp in about every mmo in modern existence and I’m really bad and they were all way too complicated for me being so incredibly bad. I’m okay at pve, but pvp I’m just an absolute wreck. So any starters, and please assume I know very little to anything at all, because most likely thats where I’m at.
This has quickly become the most hated thing in the game right now. It won’t get changed any time soon because you know how long it takes anet to change anything. You’ll see it fixed or the trait system changed in roughly a year and a half.
Until then, buy them.
It won’t be changed, A-net very rarely makes changes. They’ll get around to fixing their mess in about a year and a half when the next patch that adds a remote amount of new content to the game comes out. Personally I’m only playing my guardian, who was grand fathered into this. I cannot stand to play anyone else. It just wrecks any amount of build experimentation. It forces new players to look up a meta build, seek out only those traits and how to unlock them and never change away from it.
Well mostly because there hasn’t really been much that came out since launch. The game is still very much the same as ever. No real change. Living story is here, but it’s not much “content” really. Competitive PvP got worse and stale. WvW is the same basic routine really.
Hey all,
I wanted to introduce an idea, unsure if this is the right area for it.
Followers
If someone has added you as a friend but you have not added them, they will appear on your followers list.I’ve removed players from my friends list for reasons, I don’t want to block them either.
Though, as they still have me on their friends list, they do appear in my followers tab.I’d like to suggest that players are able to “remove” players that follow them, so that they don’t show in your list.
For the other player shouldn’t affect anything, as he still has you in their FL but at least you don’t see him.
Why do I want this?
Things have happened, and some players remind me of a bad moment in my GW2 history. I’d prefer to forget and move on. But everything I see their names it’s reminding me againIf you’ve got other suggestions, comments etc plz respond.
I know that feeling, it’s why I can’t go back to FF14 and wow, because Satan plays them and I really don’t wish to be reminded of Satan.
I hate the trait system. It forces players to look up a meta build, go unlock those skills only and never change anything. There isn’t any incentive to actually buy new traits to experiment or unlock the rest. Why when I can just look up a meta build and use that.
It doesn’t allow any experimentation and only makes cookie cutter builds more prevalent.
I’d like to see flails and whips added as new weapon types. It would go nicely with a new expansion hint hint anet since you can’t really add new abilities, but you can add new weapons. Maybe add a caster orb for a new mainhand.
Elementalist will require swapping around your different elements a lot, they’re very good in groups as their ability to lay down fire fields and blast finishers are high to get good might stacking.
Any class is good in pve really, some may argue you need to be a beserker warrior really though they’re all good. I’d just play around with them all, even at level 1 you can go into the pvp area and see what they’re like at max level to get a decent feel for how things are.
I’m growing really really kitten tired of getting a DC or a crash halfway through a group event only to log back into a different map server. So I’m no longer where I was before. Can you please have the server start to remember where I was so I can go back to it.
This is quickly becoming a game breaking problem for me. 3 times now I was in the middle of a big boss event to get a DC or a crash and come back to a different map and not be able to finish the event. This is becoming a reason to not play in itself.
I think part of the problem is how things are designed for any group setup. It wasn’t designed to need a support character. Because of that and how good dodging is when you know how to use it, you can completely negate the need of a support role. When you don’t need support, or a tank and healer if you’re thinking trinity, then the makeup becomes take only the absolute best dps.
It’s like the tourney, nobody wants celes ele’s and engi’s to be the new “it meta” just like nobody wants zerker warriors to be the meta. Nobody likes being told that just because they’re a bunker guardian or a support staff guardian that they’re not wanted because they’re not the meta.
A-net has to do a better job of breaking metas or bringing them closer in line with the rest.
People will be told they’re not wanted regardless of what meta is in effect or what roles are or are not in the game.
It’s the nature of MMOs. Take what you need – throw away anything else.
You can’t break a meta – the concept of meta if understood correctly implies there will always be one.
Bringing them closer in line to what? The rest of what? And why? So bad players can feel better about themselves?
You should never be labeled a bad player for not following the meta build. Thats the problem with this game. If you don’t follow the meta you’re a bad. The problem isn’t the players the problem is the meta. It needs to be broken and brought down to the rest of other builds, that need to be brought up.
A game with a huge diversity such as this game, shouldn’t be seeing the exact same things all the time.
It’s not that I want the meta zerker builds nerfed, but I want other builds to be buffed.
Condi isn’t viable at all in pve instances.
Healing based builds aren’t viable at all in pve instances
tanking based builds aren’t viable either.Condi has too high a ramp up time for how short bosses last.
Plus to healing is only marginally better then just being a full zerker gear healing
same with tanking. The real issue is certain stats just blow massive, not that beserker runes are too good.
I shouldn’t be nearly identical in healing and support output if I’m in beserker gear or not.
The real issue is that some people don’t understand the game.
Guild Wars 2 was designed in a way that a healing party member is not needed. A healing build – no matter how good or bad it heals will never be needed or wanted because everyone can do their own healing just as the designers intended when they gave us all healing slots and effective healing skills.
You’ll never be wanted as a healer in a group because decent people will be able to manage on their own without you. Because the game was designed like this. It’s not an issue – it’s intended.
Condi does have issues- but due to the way the game is build I don’t think they can fix that.
Tanking is not viable because again – the game was designed in a way that you can’t tank.
If you have high armor in this game it means you’ll be able to take extra hits ( usually 2-5) but by no means will you be able to tank it out with the boss. This game did away with the trinity – please try to understand it before you post about it complaining that it isn’t what you wanted.
But that was what I was referring as the cause of the meta. The lack of a need for those roles causes people to only take what is the sheer fastest. Why take a guardian when I can take a zerker warrior? They do way more damage and there isn’t any need for anything the guardian provides. Thats the problem, those apsects AREN’T needed when they should be.
Group shields, group heals should be important and necessary. Having a build that has some amount of group thought should be important. It shouldn’t be 100% dps me me me me me me me me.
I’m not very high end, I admit that freely. The problem that meta causes, is that it causes people to feel like they have to be that. Zerker has been meta for SO LONG that you feel forced to be that now. You feel that you can’t even pick anything else because it’s just not as good. You can’t go with a plus to healing build because the gain on your group heals are marginal and you lose a ton of your damage potential. It just doesn’t out weigh the cost. So you have to be full zerker, even if you don’t like it. Stats just are screwy, conditions and boons are screwy, when everyone can apply boons nobody does.
Condi isn’t viable at all in pve instances.
Condi has too high a ramp up time for how short bosses last.
You just blew it. Condi builds CAN be very much viable in pve instances.
compared to zerker they’re not. They only high equal output if the fight exceeds a certain amount of time. Due to condi builds requiring time to apply and let them roll to get full effect. Zerker doesn’t need that time and can essentially output their damage in a shorter amount of time.
I’m not saying condi is worthless and can’t do it, they can. They’re just lower then zerker, which is the entire point of the thread. They’re lower then zerker, when they shouldn’t be. Instanced stuff doesn’t last long enough for zerker to claim any fame. However in outside world with “raid bosses” that last a long time condi start to shine and zerkers don’t.
Zerker is a burst build time and in instanced environments they literally cannot be beat.
I think part of the problem is how things are designed for any group setup. It wasn’t designed to need a support character. Because of that and how good dodging is when you know how to use it, you can completely negate the need of a support role. I lose most of my matches, but then again I’m also terrible and if the community is correct then my being terrible has such a massive impact that I single handedly cost us the match nearly every time. Regardless of the rest of the team, one sucky person and it’s a loss.
Seriously though, I think I’m sitting around a 50% but I’m really really bad and that statistic is from the very beginning of the game too. I’m sure it’ll be worse soon as I prefer to play guardians and mesmers which aren’t a celestial engi or ele so I’m gonna get reckt a lot.
PvP always has the worst players. The higher up you get the worse the players get.
I’ve known people that just naturally can figure everything out on how to play the class in like 30 secs and can take a level 1 into mists and dominate. There is also people like me, who after 2 years and almost an 80 still sucks massively in pvp.
But there is always celestial engi or ele for me I guess.
Hmm, so is it normal for me to last like 5 secs in pvp? Yes I know I don’t know what I’m doing, thats the entire point. Where do I go to learn how to figure out what I’m doing.
Playing on the pve side I have no problems, jump over to the pvp side and I die in like 2.5 secs.
So where do I go now when you start pvp? Can I start doing it at any level or do I have to be 80 on the character?
So I played at launch, and then when you went into pvp you were level 80 and had a different generic set of gear and weapons. Everything was equal and standardized and it didn’t go off your pve character progression at all. So what changed? Why now is everything based off the pve side? What happened to pvp as a whole? How am I expected to learn how to play when nothing is standardized anymore?
Esports has ruined about every single thing they got their grimy hands on. Has esports ruined this too? It’s no longer a fair and fun playing field anymore. I have no idea what I’m doing and was trying to find out where to learn. I looked at the sticky and there is no hot join thingy and so I just tried the random practice whatever button. I always get put on a team that is getting slaughtered and I end up dying in like 3 secs flat because I’m level 54 versus 80, instead of being all 80’s in standard equipment like it used to be.
Why did you ruin the games pvp, and arguably the core part of the game?
Wow, I thought I was awesome for having 30% magic find. I’m going to pretend that I’m still awesome for having 30%. I choose to remain blissfully ignorant.
I’m not one for looking up spoilers on how to do jumping puzzles, however that being said. I look up where they are. I’ve encountered like 1 on my own. So I look up where they are and then find the way to finish it myself.
I only want to see peoples gear so I know what they’re wearing. I only go by visuals and I’ve seen people that look really nice, and I would like to know what they’re wearing without being rude and asking.
I’m on tarnished Coast, thats my home server.
Why the hell does this game allow guests on full servers?! I honestly think if the server is classified as a high population server guesting should be disabled.
- First off Server Forums
- why, this would make it easier to coordinate things like WvW ideas, guild ideas selling items and doing instances. Right now there is one giant guild forum and it’s a pain to use and deal with and a very stupid idea.
*Make large events actually epic.
- on my server Maw and other large events are over in a matter of seconds. It takes about 12 secs to get the final boss down. Often times once the event starts if you’re not already over there it’ll be over before you get there. Increase boss health so that it doesn’t feel like a push over
- Get rid of guesting on high pop servers
- if a server is a high population don’t allow guesting on it, servers are huge and guesting is only making the server worse.
- Raise the cap on guild members
- Pretty much it’s a small limit on players and makes it so you can’t play on the guild you want to.
Joined my first guild in this game when patch hit, and it was some random guild that asked me to join. They’re small and nobody ever talks and they haven’t even started guild missions.
Why is it so hard to find decent guilds in this game? It’s the least social MMO I’ve ever seen.
I’m not in a guild, looking to join one and stay in one if I like them. However this game makes it hard if not impossible to look for guilds.
No server forums and no in game guild search tool.
I’m on Tarnished Coast, it’s so hard to search through there and sort out yourself between people who post the server with their guild, those that don’t. Those that are looking and so forth.
Please A-Net can we get server forums.
This is most likely because people camp the Maw event in the norn area.
I’m not in a guild, looking to join one and stay in one if I like them. However this game makes it hard if not impossible to look for guilds.

That is pretty much the worst part of EVERY mmo. The group of vocal people that all they do is bash the game. It’s happened in every mmo. They make mountains out of mole hills and everyone else believes them and listens with religious fervor.
The worst part of MMO’s is the people, but it can also be the best part of it.
The thing most developers don’t realize is you can never actually read the forums for the game you make. You get a false idea about what is broken and what works.
Form your own opinion, and stay away from the forums. That pretty much works with everyone.
