Might get new Blacklion ticket weapons, that was rumored to come out soon. Can’t see much else to add besides cash shop items.
GIVE US HARD MODE!!!
USE WHITE GEAR!!!
thats not hard mode, thats slow mode.
Okay, GW2 Ironman challenge
-no gear other then white
-no traits
-no accessories of any kind
-no professions
-no instances
-no wvw
-no deaths, you die you delete
-no downed state, it’s a death delete
-no de-level must level in appropriate areas
-no grouping
Hard enough for yeah?
asura are in fact mammals and therefore do have breasts.
Where?
I always thought asuran were like Echidna and didn’t have breasts but weird milk patches. Charr probably are like every other mammal on earth and are only prominent when nursing.
As for Norn in skimpy outfits, in lore norn produce massive amounts of body heat and don’t require as much clothing as other races.
Having a portal to magumma myself I’d be excited about a beta.
However I’d just like to know how we go about getting specializations or guild halls either would be nice info. I really hope they go the path that Rift did with their housing, with the massive control you had to make whatever you wanted and no the path of WoW and having literally no control at all.
The reason that took it out of world completion is because they’re not part of the world.
The reason they removed it from the requirements was because of the hoards of complainers complaining that the game was too hard, that it needed to be dumbed down, or something of the like. Anet’s solution to this was the same with underwater content, feeding cows and TA f/u, to just remove it to make things easier/dumbed down.
By your logic Southsun, Labyrinthine Cliffs, Drytop and Silverwastes are not part of the world either.
Nobody was complaining about it being too hard, get off your soapbox. It was annoying because you had to wait for map rotations to get some of the points in the world v world maps. Not to mention WvW players complained about it more then the people trying to get the map completion. They complained about the amount of useless players roaming around not helping and getting in the way more then the people doing the completion did.
The reason nothing ever gets added to world completion is people would get upset that I have to do more then they did before blah blah blah.
In my opinion, you should only get 1 gift of exploration these days for map completion as they took the wvw maps out of the requirement.
How does the wvw maps equate to an entire gift of exploration? They weren’t that hard to get. The reason that took it out of world completion is because they’re not part of the world.
That said, I’d gladly love an option to use a gift of exploration to get a full map discovery on an alt, minus heart completions and skill points of course. I find new characters going around the world to be super tedious and annoying. Going all the way down to orr for some stupid trait crap when I’ll never go to Orr ever again on that character.
I can’t freaking wait for that trait overhaul, this system blows.
The rank means nothing is pure bull. The main reason you keep getting matched up with higher ranked and more skilled players is because nobody does Spvp. In essence you can have the best match making system ever invented but if only 30 people are queueing it’s pure meaningless.
The largest problem facing pvp is it’s vicious cycle right now, nobody does it because match making sucks. Match making sucks because nobody does it.
Anet tried to convince people to pvp with lamas but honestly that was a super stupid idea. The new expansion looming SPvP and WvW has taken a massive backburner. It’s so far out of the devs minds it won’t get fixed, like ever.
I’m constantly killing myself from something on my thief.
I got Spark on my second overall attempt at MF farming, I think that used up literally all of my available luck at once.
I don’t think he ever said he’s using it for pve. fractal is a really good source for celestial gear though, since 3 of the armored chest have celestial.
I don’t really do fractals, but isn’t other sets of gear better then celestials though even for fractals?
I thought the only real use for celestials is pvp. Now wvw roaming may get awesome great use of a roaming celestial ascended ele, but thats because right NOW, they get great use of celestials. Though I’ve heard a lot of ele’s complaining on the trait changes reducing that, they claim that they’ll be completely useless and it’s going to break everything and the world is ending. We all know thats not true.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I didn’t think celestial gear was all that good in pve.
Well, I believe that anyone who plays PvP is part of the PvP community. I don’t think you can rule out people who also play PvE.
However, it is fair to say that in your experience, people who also play PvE tend to be more toxic.
They are though.
PvErs often like to cite how toxic the pvp community is. Yet, PvPers who have experience tend to be silent, unless they are attempting to get a rise out of people. A lot of people let their playing speak for them.
Ever seen someone link their first legendary in map chat? In happiness and celebration at how hard they worked? Only to see some other player or two link a bag of legendaries to diminish any sense of achievement. PvErs do this, not PvPers.
Ever seen people kicked for running a Runeset that isn’t meta even though they are running full zerker and have done a dungeon thousands of times? PvErs do this, not PvPers.
Ever seen players bug out an NPC on purpose to troll others? Such as Rox’s dialogue during the first week of the Tequatl revamp where people would die on purpose near her so Rox would cut any dialogue with people trying to get achievements/quest progression from her because she would immediately stop and rez said people. They would keep running over exploding corpses repeatedly doing this. PvErs were responsible, not PvPers.
Only a few examples among many. Sure, PvPers can be verbally harsher with their comments, but PvErs have just as much malice and practice it in different forms by actually hindering others in their game experience.Since the beginning of the game 991 Days ago, I have met and made far nicer and more numerous friends in SPvP than PvE, and I am sure I am not the only one. So this tired and stupid stereotype that only PvPers are toxic needs to stop. Every single game mode has rotten people.
WvW tier 1 communities can be the worst by far though. I used to be on Tarnished Coast till a few months back, and honestly? Never have I seen people send in spies, break apart guilds and just go out of their way to ruin people’s play time in a video game than tryhards in WvW. (This also applies to Blackgate and Jade Quarry FYI, Blackgate being the most horrid of the three.)
I play on TC, and honestly have never seen that. The only feeders you get are really in Edge of the Mists to feed bag farming teams.
As far as trolls in pve, I’ve yet to be kicked from anything pve and I tend to run either knight’s or Clerics and rarely run beserker. I’ve had more hard times in spvp then anything else in this game. That however is caused by ANET’s immensely kittenty matchmaking. The reality of the matter is SPvP is the least popular section of the entire game really. It’s matchmaking and balance is horrid that it’s driven off most people from it. New players do one or two matches in hotjoin and get driven off by the sheer trolls that is hotjoin.
You want to compare who has worse players compare to hotjoin, it’s 4/5 trolls on any given team. It’s horrible, and don’t defend it by saying crap like well its’ hotjoin it’s supposed to be that way. Or It’s for practice of course you’ll get trolls. Hotjoin is crap and possibly the largest source of immature toxic people in the game.
No, they’re just not popular. 2v2 and 3v3 and even 5v5 are just not popular in the entire community as a whole. Arena’s aren’t popular, except by the really really really small brawler community. They’re nice to watch but terribly to play. If they’re added they need to be team ranked only. Add 2v2 and 3v3 as team queue in ranked and 5v5 as solo queue ranked. Add a more robust ingame leader board to thus to include titles, and armor and weapon skins and even unique legendaries (account bound) to hitting top ranks. Divide it by sections and that would be great. Not for me, but it’ll help with the stagnant and unpopular ranked.
Well, I believe that anyone who plays PvP is part of the PvP community. I don’t think you can rule out people who also play PvE.
However, it is fair to say that in your experience, people who also play PvE tend to be more toxic.
It’s not the players, pvp just beings out the toxicity in people. Every MMO that has pvp it’s always toxic, it’s not the community it’s just what competition does to the human race. Anything competitive is toxic, raiding speed clear instances all of it.
Personally I’ve found that hardcore pvpers are worse to deal with. In mapchat in heart some of them are okay and nice and willing to give advice but the second you hit unranked queue and get placed in a 5 man pug against his 5 man guild group run because matchmaking is complete kitten you get stomped like 500 to 10 or even 0.
The community in pvp would improve greatly if matchmaking was introduced and better queue options. Step 1 remove hotjoin, it’s crap and serves literally no purpose except to be toxic.
I’m growing very annoyed at the constant outfits being pumped out.
I have one and would love to use it, if I could still have hair. I play mostly humans and Norn and baldness isn’t acceptable to me. The tech has to be there, it’s still that helms make you bald.
I don’t get it much myself either. There isn’t all that much forms of new content, the content we do have is well lame. Instances aren’t that fun, even the first time they aren’t really that fun. PvP is probably the worst aspect of the game in here. There are so many problems and issues it isn’t funny.
1. Not enough rewards for top players, we need to know who’s skillful and who’s not.
2. Worse leaderboard I’ve seen in a pvp game.
3. No ingame leaderboard. Most players don’t even know a leaderboard exists which makes me sad.
4. Stupid gem store outfits, we need more pvp season armor and weapons.
5. having no 2v2 and 3v3 arenas the most popular pvp mode in mmo history.
6. Entering courtyard with a conquest build lol nice one anet.
7. The pvp finishers suck, you want better ones go to the gem store and buy.
2v2 and 3v3 aren’t the most popular modes, they’re just the easiest. Easy doesn’t always mean popular. People naturally gravitate to whatever is the easiest way to get something, 2v2 is super easy. Find one person and done. It’s not always the most popular with the ENTIRE community, just the people that want something out of pvp and want the fastest and easiest way to get it.
Courtyard sucks and needs to just be a subset of hotjoin. Add more free for all maps and make a team deathmatch hotjoin or a FFA hotjoin that can be played while in queue for something else. So instead of sitting around Heart of the mists, you can enter a giant FFA map and just brawl till queue pops.
I’d love to see the difficulty scale to the number of players inside the instance. So if there was one person you can scale the stuff down and be somewhat soloable, with difficulty that is. That way I don’t have to do LFG tool and get berated for low AP, not using zerker, none meta builds etc.
All the recent changes to spvp seem to make it seem that esports are something they care a lot about. Which esports predominantly favor smaller pvp sizes typically 3v3 or 5v5 as it’s generally more engaging and entertaining to watch. However it’s very steep on the learning curve since it’s small scale.
Matchmaking is complete crap right now. The largest reasoning for matchmaking being complete crap is because there isn’t enough people doing it for matchmaking to even work. There is literally about 500 or less people at any given time actually queueing into pvp. It’s probably the least done thing in the entire game, because it’s pure kitten.
Even the really high end players are complaining about it. They’re losing the top esports capable people because the entire system is pure garbage. There isn’t an effective ladder system to determine good players, it’s literally about being on a team and to get on a good team you have to get your name out.
There needs to be lots to change, and honestly I’d like to see hotjoin move back to 8v8 but given a similar treatment to unranked where you can’t leave the map at all. So you’re given a new fresh map, and you can’t leave until it’s over. None of this yoloqueue stuff.
I’d gladly give up heart of thorns entirely if it meant that you’d devote more dev time to fixing Spvp. You keep trying to push an esports agenda but you don’t do anything to actually make it work.
I’m a new pvper, and really terrible. I lose all the time, and I haven’t a clue why I’m losing. There isn’t a match making system that works because I fight the same people that are leaps and bounds better then me.
Hotjoin is a cesspool that doesn’t accomplish literally a single thing. Group queuers constantly face up against solo queue players wasting both of their times.
Can we please get some dev info on ideas you have to fix this? I don’t care about that stupid new map at all. I want to know whats being done with matchmaking and queueing?
There is a good reason that SPVP has such abysmal numbers. It’s most likely the least active aspect of the entire game. The community is toxic, the matchmaking is horrible, and just about everything in SPVP is terrible. Literally, I really don’t think you can possibly create a worse system even if you tried to.
I’ll have to try turning chat off completely. I’m hoping the lower my win percentage gets, the better chance I’ll have with actually being matched against people my skill level. Though I’m beginning to think there isn’t anyone my skill level.
I think it’ll resemble Trahearne, who is said to be a necromancer with a greatsword. Most of his attacks are control heavy power attacks. Maybe with cantrips perhaps?
From my experience with instances, the issue isn’t the dungeons themselves but the community.
The lack of Tank and Healer means you got a bunch of DPS running around like chickens with their heads cutoff. Because of the lack of healer they skip trash, do all these stupid weird mechanics to bypass things that often times fails because newer people have no idea whats going on.
Instances are a chore to learn because the community doesn’t do them like they’re supposed to be done, which is usually very straight forward and easy to jump into, instead there is all kinds of tricks and semi-exploits that are done that isn’t straight forward.
Fractals aren’t very jump in and try it friendly, to me fractals seem extremely out of place for the game. It doesn’t fit into the flavor of the game nor the general flow or appeal. It’s not a choose how to play kind of thing, it’s not a horizontal progression type like most of the game. The reliance and dependance on Agony Resistance is an absurd mechanic to introduce grinding and progression in a game that doesn’t have progression. So it feels extremely out of place and foreign. I don’t like it, it’s a stupid mechanic that doesn’t actually do anything. It’s not serving a progression point to have agony damage in the game. It’s just something that’s haphazardly put in afterwards as an artificial way to make the same content appear “harder”. It was a lazy cop out.
I’ve said before that matchmaking is the worst part of PvP. It is horrible. A few key changes need to be made:
1. Implement a solo queue and a team queue. (Great new concept right?)
2. Matchmaking should be based on class specific MMR. Just because someone is great at once class doesn’t mean they are good at another.
3. A 4 or 5 person premade should NEVER face a group of 5 pugs. NEVER
4. In a pug match, ensure no more than 2 of a class on a team
Assuming they add all of those changes in, queue times would be a half hour. Why? Because like 45 people play spvp at a time. It’s literally the same small amount of people.
Something needs to be done to increase numbers, a brilliant way for that is to increase all unranked and below to 8v8 and only have ranked be 5v5. Many casuals have literally no desire to ever hit ranked play, me being one of them. 8v8 means me being absolutely terrible has less of an impact on the team as a whole. I can go around and follow somebody else and see what they’re doing without costing the entire match really.
Me being a very terrible player, I feel this would just cause me to get repeated dishonor votes because I’m not good and die a lot. PvP already discourages me enough by repeated deaths, I don’t need repeated deaths and repeated mocking of said death.
I can only go about 3 matches before I want to kill myself now from feeling like a total failure of a human being from dying repeatedly and not being of next to any use. I just want a larger map size please. Thats it, just a larger option of map size so that my constant deaths doesn’t cost the entire team a loss nearly every time.
That may be well and true for the 1 through 999, but it doesn’t mean squat for the bottom 999. The new and terrible players, who get matched with people WAY out of their league….consistently. The matchmaking system is just terrible. If it can’t handle new or casual players, it’s a terrible matchmaking system. I don’t give a toss about high ranked people.
The fact that me as a solo queue terrible player get matched up against teams, that are good, is just stupid. They HAVE to separate solo and group queue. And please fix hotjoin, it’s a cesspool.
Its astonishing how negative Spvp feedback is right now and how we’re literally getting no word other then a new map. Which will most likely get thrown outta the ranked rotation anyway.
Berserker is still the meta gear in PVE. If you don’t have at least a full zerk exotic yet, COF, COE, and Arah offers zerker gears.
At full zerkers, Ele’s survivability is probably the worst in all classes. On another, you also have the best DPS.
Guardians give them a run for their money on low survivability in beserker gear. Ele’s have some of the highest self healing in game. They’re only low in survivability because they have a massively steep learning curve.
Because hotjoin might as well be deleted. Honestly they can delete all of structured pvp at this point. It’s so kittening broken you might as well nuke it from orbit and start over. Like this is the worst I’ve ever seen a game’s pvp. And oddly enough, it has nothing to do with class balance.
Cause there isn’t any right now I’m really tired of going up against people like completely way better then me. Like no chance whatsoever get killed in 4 secs better then me.
I’m what you call absolutely mouth breathingly kittenedly bad at spvp. So literally 99% of the entire game must be better then me. Can we get some kind of matchmaking so I can like fight other people that are terrible.
Animations are generally better
This is one thing I disagree on.
I’ve rarely seen female characters in games properly animated. Either their animations are overly sexualized (Guild Wars 2 is guilty of this too) or the devs just copy-pasted the male animations on the female character’s rig, making her look weird and too masculine (this is particularly the case in Mass Effect among other games).
To me it came from playing a lot of wow, where most male models just absolutely stink. I played a Female Human, because males looked stupid and had stupid animations. It carried over here when I made my guardian.
Animations are generally better, and they have better fashion options.
I foresee them adding more with new living story additions as time goes on. Most likely one new specialization per living story season.
Yeah at first everyone will use the new specialization, because it’s the new hotness. Over time people will start leaving them to play how they like.
Problems with these weapons is that bows are nearly always superior to rifles and thus used over rifles when able. Same with Greatswords and hammers. They’re nearly always a superior weapon over greatsword so they’re used most often.
Issue is them pigeon holing certain weapon types, hammer = CC etc. They really should try to balance them all to be somewhat comparable damage wise so it’s not greatsword or nothing.
Honestly wait for all the specialization reveals, Dragon Hunters with trapper runes are gonna be a beastly and fun wvw roamer. We don’t know anything about any of the other profession reveals so I can’t make a suggestion as they’ll all change massively with the updates.
They never once claimed to be removing anything from getting a specialization.
That said, just because you gain access to longbow doesn’t mean you’ll always use it. If you find yourself only using it part of the time and using greatsword most of the time and not using any of the traps you’re at a loss being a dragon hunter. You’re better off dropping dragon hunter and picking up another trait line that actually benefits you.
The Elite specialization trait line really only bonuses the weapon and the skills, if you don’t really use either there isn’t a point to being the elite specialization.
This isn’t true there are only 2 traits in the Dragon Hunter elite trait line that benefit the Longbow, The Optional Master Trait “Hunter’s Determination” and the Optional Grand Master Trait “Heavy Light” The rest of the trait line is compatible with all guardian weapon/skills
However most of them either proc off things longbow does or off traps. Which if you don’t use either the only real advantage of even taking the trait line would be for big game hunter and Spear of Justice, both of which in combination have massive counters in pvp. You’re still best off picking up a different trait line unless you really want the changes to virtue mechanics. Damage wise they’re not exactly going to be always superior all the time, but I’m sure somebody will geek out with the numbers and come up with a meta that works in a vacuum which the whole community will blindly follow.
They never once claimed to be removing anything from getting a specialization.

I don’t know. Against a zerg, several guardians laying “traps” (urgh, I hate that name) like a minefield could be pretty awesome.
While at the same time losing out on the support they usually provide.
Not if traited for it, they can retain a lot of the support they had before while adding new support. Sure some may stay guardians, especially those that don’t use longbow and prefer passive virtues.
The traps look amazing but in an offensive way, the specialization is extremely niche. Where as Chronomancer is Mesmer 2.0. There is very little reasons to not take chronomancer really.
Yeah, each tick is only 1 second and you could potentially dodge those ticks and get out of the radius. If you do get hit, you’ll barely be visible for enough time to be targeted, let alone get focused.
You know kitten well every guard is gonna use hammer and drop hammer 5 on that trap and literally trap you in it. Or drop Test of Faith trap on top of the Other trap for a dead thief combo traps. You’re stuck in it, and thieves lack defense to survive getting targeted with 25 stacks of invul and revealed for no stealth stripping of it.
Yeah on ready up they pumped out some huge damage with Dragon Hunter condi build. Because guards can do reliable short duration bleeds and burns and the fact they stack in intensity and not duration got some pretty huge condi damage fairly quickly.
Also, RIP in peace thieves dragon hunters gonna own you.
Hehe sure
.
Lights judgement trap, 25 stacks of vuln plus medi guard burst = dead thief almost instantly
Just move out the trap lol it’s 1 sec revealed per pulse but the bads thieves sure and glad
.
Did you see the amount of control they had? Hammer 5 plus lights judgement trap means you’re stuck there. DH is gonna be a really beastly bunker spec, if you jump them (which is what thieves tend to do) and they expect it you’re dead meat.
Counter to DH isn’t gonna come from thieves, you’re squishy and they pump out massive amounts of damage quick. Thieves aren’t all powerful unstoppable killing machines. Guards always had an advantage against thieves, this just adds to it.
Guardians have always been bursty, now they have burst condi. They’ll wreck people with everything up and they prepared for the fight. Catch them off guard (hehe) and DH’s will not do so hot.
Spvp will get tossed on it’s head. As for WvW, I welcome our new Dragon Hunter roaming overlords.

I am totally looking forward to swapping 2 of my guards over to DH… but anyone who fails to respect a well handled thief is gonna abruptly find themselves back at the nearest spawn-point wondering where the hell their kidneys went…
A-Net is trying to turn meta on it’s head. Medi Guards have always been able to wreck thieves of equal skill. Dragon Hunters will wreck them without even breaking a sweat. It’s okay, you have a counter. It’ll be fine somebody out there will counter you now, and counter you hard. It’s not the end of the world, welcome to where literally everyone else is.
No a skilled thief of equal skill will never beat a Dragon Hunter, they will just demolish you.

So watching the ready up, made me realize condi builds will be a thing! A viable thing!
with bleeds stacking higher and burns stacking lots of short duration high damage conditions applied in short time will deal massive short time damage. Condi Burst damage! So they may be a viable thing now, can’t wait to see the meta get shoved on it’s head.
GW2 Timers, shows boss timers, it’s really the only thing I care about as far as apps go.
Honestly MF isn’t worth it. Most drops ignore magic find anyway now. Chests don’t follow it and neither do bags. The mystic forge doesn’t follow it. It’s really not worth bothering to invest in.
It’s not that bad sheesh. You guys think it’s the end of the world. Sure the name doesn’t in the slightest bit even remotely fit with guardian theme but it’s not bad. If it went to Ranger and they got something else then you’d think it would be great.
No…cause it doesn’t fit there either….
Fits there quite well actually. Rangers are well wild hunters, they have lots of traps and basically are somewhat game hunters. Though it really doesn’t seem to fit with guardians, I’d rather have Valkyrie even with the female connotation.
“Hunter” sure
“Dragonhunter” describes everyone
True but apart from the guardian like skills, the lore behind the specialization screams warrior not guardian. Dragon hunter doesn’t seem like a thing guardians would even care about doing.
