I’m currently faced with the same dilemma. Main necro (on which I am on an 8 win streak) but went 5-6 on my engi just to get those 5 wins and now I’m going to have to choose a 3rd class I really don’t know how to pvp with to seek 5 wins on.

I really feel sorry for my team mates and I don’t want to admit that I don’t know what I’m doing.

On one hand, the achievement structure forces us into it, but quite apart from that, I’d love to play different classes in ranked and “git gud” over the long term without tanking my rating. Unfortunately, the disparity between ranked and unranked during seasons disincentivises us from doing that.

So +100, let’s have ranks by class!

Just block the toxic trolls and report them. Leave them to anet to sort out.
Players are by and large OK. In SoloQ trolls always pick on people trying anything other than a 4/1 braindead game, but you can always block them once they get abusive. Also, if you doing something slightly more clever pays off, they don’t complain.

But yeah, avoid going on tilt. 3 loss streak is enough.

I have many times won 1v2s as necro on point, but not ones that start with 2 players there (why would you engage anyway?).

More common scenario is you assault a point with someone on it, someone else turns up when RS is nice and full, down 1 of 2 in RS and have most skills off cooldown, 5 seconds later have two guys bleeding out next to you.

I think anyone who claims they turned up at mid when 2 defenders are waiting and wins is “pulling your leg”.

But I am only in ruby, so who knows.

If I remember correctly, not long ago someone posted minutes or a report for an NCSoft shareholders meeting, where the NCSoft board were strong-arming ArenaNet to increase the pace with which expansion packs were rolled out.

I think the XP will be here much earlier than expected, maybe mid-2017. Given the living season is being rolled out on a slower schedule, I think you’ll find the XP follows its conclusion almost immediately.

I also think it likely that the bundling together of dragon menaces could have been a response to that instruction.. or it could have been Anet’s plan all along shrug

Can I have my 3 pips of PVP division progress back? I know it’s not a lot, but it was disheartening to log back in 24 hours later and have 0 pips in my tier rather than 3, where it was when I logged out 24 hours earlier…

Launch player, really liked where SPvP was at just before the launch of HoT.

Anyway, for various reasons, took a long break after completing HoT and missed PvP seasons 1-2-3.

Just to confirm, it looks like the Ascension needs 125 PvP league tickets (100 for the WoA, 25 for the certificates of support (5 × 5).

From my wiki reading, it looks like the most PvP tickets one can get, if they make it to diamond league, is 100. Correct?

So, unless there’s some way to obtain more within this season (ideas?) I can’t obtain the requisite 125 to make the Ascension.

Also, it sounds as if the acquisition of the Ascension is going to be changed or made impossible next season.

Am I screwed?

Back after basically no contact with the game since November (pity I missed the PvP stuff).

Just an observation, but despite having 3 bank guilds with fully unlocked stashes, 8 characters including a mule mostly replete with 20 slot bags, the biggest barrier to re-entry to the game for me now is inventory management.

I have SO many slots filled with crap that may/may not be useful now/in the future, and it seems the LS is only taking it further with the various journal collections I need to unlock achieves. I finally bit the bullet and started deleting stuff like PvP glory boosters (lol) but really… it is endless. Just trying to keep one bag empty to get through an LS chapter/a fractal is a constant nightmare.

What do people do about it? I remember how much worse things were before the account wallet, but it’s still pretty ridiculous…

That is really disappointing. I will NEVER roll a sylvari.

I also play from Japan.

Generally, broadband in Japan is lightning fast (my first speed test in 2012 ran 226mb/s), especially compared with NZ/Australia

I really like Tomes of Knowledge (and I mean <i>really</i> like them!) but I’m unclear on what determines whether the daily achievement reward chests contain a tome of knowledge of not (i.e., whether the daily will reward a Transcendent Chest of Knowledge).

AFAIK these reward chests only come through WvW achievements though the wiki is far from clear as to which achievements will trigger them. I WvW a lot but don’t pay a lot of attention. Are these only awarded for the Daily Keep Capturer achievement?

Is there any other way to get these through dailies in either PvE of sPvP?

I’m currently collecting t6 materials for my legendary. I’ve found some good ways to do so but I also have stacks of t5 materials. I was wondering given the yield on t5 -> t6 transmutation (which I’ve never done before) and the cost of 5 crystal dust per pop (which is 5 x t6 mat in itself), is it better to just sell the t5 mats outright and buy the t6 mats with gold?

I think OP’s suggestion deserves attention. Directing player attention towards little-used dynamic events in little-used dynamic zones is always going to be a winner – there’s only so many times we can protect Scholar Brogun as he investigates the grawl.

The player dialogue at world events is a nice reality check for the sorts of people you’re playing with. Racism, yes, but the worst fights are against female bosses like Taidha and (when she was there) Scarlet.

Taidha is still basically a chorus of (in not exactly these words):
“Commit sexual assault against this female dog!”
“It’s time for group sexual assault of this intercourse-having female dog”
etc. etc.

Toxic culture entirely. Sad that you either have to tolerate it or fill up your blocklist with these serial offenders :/

I should probably don my flame-kittenant clothing before saying that I crafted The Crossing last night, and I’m left feeling a little bit underwhelmed.

Yes, I knew its stats before I crafted it. Yes, I even worked out the approximate costs of the mats, but it seems to me that something that requires:

280 orichalum ingots (560 orichalum ore)
100 crystal lodestones
20 glacial/charged/onyx lodestones
100 mystic coins
40 bottles of elonian wine
1 eldritch scroll
10,000 candy corn
10,000 nougat centers
10 piles of crystalline dust
Gift of Knowledge (500 knowledge crystals)
Recipe: Superior Sigil of the Night
etc.

… should at least get an infusion slot? I’m not going to say they deserve legendary status (although if you didn’t farm any of the mats, you’re looking at 250g+ outlay + many CoE expl. runs), but it does seem a little sad that you end up scrapping the thing you built so quickly and just keeping the skin, since it is a fairly limited exotic.

Now I know the point is to get the skin, but on that point applies some flame kittenant gel the lamp on The Crossing realllly needs its physics revisited… (this is the one thing that I hadn’t gathered before putting all the time/effort into forging it).

The Mad King that visits Tyria in Halloween has always been played as comic relief. A figure of fun, totally cooky, sadist-as-humor character.

Having spent a bit of time in the Labyrinth recently, it’s struck me how much the Mad King/Bloody Prince repartee plays violence against women as a joke.

Does this make anyone else uncomfortable?

(I’m kind of hoping that bringing this to anet’s attention will encourage them to actually update the Halloween content/storyline rather than rolling out the same misogynistic stuff year on year…)

WTH? What’s the point in bringing those halloween weapons back if the recipe is unobtainable, except for an absurd price, and it only works 2 weeks of each year?

In which case, I was thinking of super-grinding/TP’ing the necessary mats, but if I need the recipe for the gift of souls, that puts it way outside realistic goal for the next couple of weeks.

Just noted that for those on Kaineng, the Dolyak statue is congratulating us on our server’s 8th placing in the Fall tournament.

I’m not sure if it has any effect on the rewards, but it’s a little dispiriting to those of us on Kaineng who put up a good fight week after week.

I was pretty incredulous when this patch came through in a hotfix type patch.. I was in the middle of a play session and wanted to get back to it, and immediately noticed my DS was taking forever to recharge…

Then I read the patch notes…

Then I wondered why anet had said nothing about this beforehand, there had been no consultation about it, no complaints, and they basically snuck it through in a hotfix.

Can only assume they’re talking about the warhorn swiftness duration, which suggests to me that they don’t use scepter or warhorn

As far as I’m concerned, the pinging effect on that warhorn swiftness (that puts you in combat with all and sundry trash mobs) ends up as a run speed nerf.. I am glad to have just made the change from scepter/warhorn to axe/dagger.

I love the demonization of “white knighting”, like it’s the worst thing you can do to stand up for the work on a game you love by a game developer that has, by in large, done a very good job.

This subforum appears to have a surfeit of nerdrage, and the bandwagonning going on here is really boring.

But after reading several of these threads I see that it is a vocal minority. Mostly kittened off key farmers or OP classes upset by balance changes. Other than that, a bunch of people have just gone off the deep end, probably because nerdraging is cathartic for them

I think XP for crafting was reduced long before this patch. I anticipated some mat spikes etc. post-crafting patch so did 1-400 weaponsmith last week, I think I gained 1 level.

Gone are the days of getting almost 10 levels for getting cooking to 400…

It is completely outrageous that they’ve removed net profit. It is clearly the most relevant piece of information that, as a seller, sometimes offloading your inventory into the TP in a hurry to make space for more loot, you do not have this information at your fingertips.

The breakdown of fees is a nice to have, but it’s far from essential.

To all the people being patronising about others’ ability to add and subtract, that is a pretty poor veil for poor game design.

I am glad to see it confirmed that it’s been taken out of the game because I thought I was going blind/insane. I mean it still makes 0 sense that they’ve done this.

OP, I have a lot of sympathy for your position.

It is right that people critique the game and compile wishlists and even chase anet about them, but I am truly bored by the new threads posted daily criticizing the previous days teaser, because they are frequently based on blatant falsehoods (“we’ve had no new endgame content for the last 2 years”, etc.)

So yeah, I agree it’s upsetting to see people be so one-eyed and entitled, but you can’t write off every complaint in that way, because many of them will be healthy for the development of the game.

I bought an infinite continue coin and got all of 1 day in the SAB in its last iteration.

It has been clogging up my bank with me expecting the SAB back for April Fools, then again around now (to coincide with the two releases next year).

Then we get this… it feels, really, like a big fat slap in the face.

My guess is that they’re reworking the personal story. Dry, but likely, since it was one of the most criticized aspects of the game.

Just wondering if anyone has any builds/strategies that are effective against Liadri?

I have been out of the game for a few months but never did beat her in the Crown Pavilion. At the time, my necromancer was a PVT build with full PVT gear (in fact, still is), which was a pretty terrible choice for Liadri as I could never get her down in time (on those occasions I survived until the match end).

Now with free trait refunding/allocation it feels like I should be mixing it up. Given Liadri is inc, I wonder whether anyone had success with any particular build/weapon/skill combos?

Sorry if this appears lazy but I have no idea about the necro meta these days, and I think it would be good to get the ball rolling on this subject since Necromancers used to be one of the least effective classes against her.

Correct. There have always been mobs by that checkpoint, and not just in tribulation mode. Kill nearby mobs before going afk. The coconut monkeys usually teach you that earlier..

I agree with you that tribulation mode is pay to win. There are so many deaths otherwise that the only way to beat it is by alt+tabbing every 3 seconds to a youtube guide to check out the next 10 steps you’re safe to take. And if they were honest about it, that’s what they’ve been doing. It has nothing to do with your lack of skill.

If you want to do it without a guide, and retain some sense of immersion/learning from your mistakes, then yeah, I think an ICC is essential.

Yeah I only had 30 hours played in that game (seemed like a lot as a 13 y/o) and no KOTR, so my 1 attempt at Emerald Weapon was I think a quad-9-clusterkitty.

RE: the discussion above though, is it accepted that FF7 had some kind of boss scaling for OP players? Because although I “aced” the Sephiroth battle (admittedly I did have some idea of what was coming, having watched my bro die on phase 2 repeatedly), but I vividly recall going to my friend’s house (who had 99+ hours played) and watching him KOTR Sephiroth repeatedly and eventually get wiped. I had to giggle

Are you really surprised? Without having a kick mechanism, we end up with the stupid scenario we had with dragon ball with game after game being ruined by afk’ers.

This is exactly the same as where Dulfy jumps, and it worked for me.

However, I did not get any dive achievement as far as I can tell.. no pop-up or anything.. I am only at 6/10 tiers so I wonder whether I should have had any alert.. I didn’t check the number beforehand -_-

The issue of course is the population difference between our servers, and I hope that you all understand that it’s not something we can control, and it’s not what we would prefer. I believe most players like roughly even fights that we can win through strategy and tactics. And when I’ve gotten those, it has been awesome, especially going up against our old friends in FA.

This is so funny. That’d be why TC people were lobbying the Kaineng rat guilds, that were running from the sinking ship, to join TC.

It’s fine if you are impatient to shoehorn your way into T1, but please don’t dress it up as concern for other servers.

P.S. It is REALLY not that hard, assuming you’re prepared to endure 5 wipes until the slowest learners in your PUG work out how to stay alive (and assuming at least 2 of them do, 3/5 should be enough to beat the encounter).
