Guild Wars 2 is still very much like Guild Wars as far as gear goes.
You’re kidding right? Almost everything about Guild Wars 2 is different from Guild Wars.
Guild Wars has easily obtainable best in slot gear. Same thing applies to Guild Wars 2. Are YOU kidding?
Best in slot is legendary and you’re saying they are easy YOU are kidding. GW2 is not remotely related to GW1 or that manifesto anymore.
Yes, legendaries are skins only there are no stat changes, well not sense the new patch release yesturday, thou I have yet to see stat changes there was mention from devs they would be adjusted and in so Legendary would indeed be almost the worst grind in an MMO to date. However, prior to these “updates” , GW2 was very close to GW1 in gear progressions.
But on the main topic really, the issue many of us have with these “changes” is they left the stats in for WvWvW. Anyone thinking this was a mistake is kidding themselves, this is a money grab.
My guild had a meeting on this last night, the total concensus is, “If we find in the future after those people grind days and days for this new gear then come into WvWvW and there is a crazy differance, we are gone”.. basicly if it un-balances WvWvW to a point that it’s not worth playing , we are gone. This is my guilds main source of entertaiment beyond the socializing guilds bring, so if this gets un-balanced to a point one is “forced” to do a grind to make it playable, well there you go.
edit: BTW… Eder.9120, great post, you hit it perfectly. This is progressional grind period. There is no if, and’s or buts about it. The only thing we (my guild and myself) are waiting on is how bad the differances are. If the one item shown in the game is an indication, a full set will = a good advantage and now “leagendary skins” are “legendary stats” so yeah, this wait and see for myself and my guild might be for not.

Many are probably not aware, not every second of WvWvW is there siege being put down for def. Hell most servers your lucky if you have a guild willing to put down a defense somewhere.

wow anet steps to a new low in trying to make money, u know im sorry anet but i see this for no other reason. 30min was short enough, but alas if you wanted to make a monthy income more priority you should have started charging from the start. I see no benifit for ANYONE doing this other then Anet. I would have a hard time beleiving a perfect 10min count is a bug :P
Next we are going to see “grind levels” like EQ being patched in and it takes your level 40 4 times as long to make one level.

aye, you make it sound as “after the reset/patch” you placed siege and it is going poof. This actually happens during a reset many times has for the longest time as I can remember it. Sadly it happens. If this happened after the patch then ok, now we got an issue!

Actually both are true,
Siege does need to be touch every 30min and lighting from the quagans do indeed destroy seige and alters of keeps. It is why quagans have become key in many areas of WvWvW.
Haven’t seen limits, but there are issues of putting siege to close togather and destroying/blocking and more. so best to give them enough room. Hope this all helps, not offical with the devs, but meh , kind of a known thing by avid WvWvW players.

Don’t take my post wrong, you guys won the last bought legit , no arguments. I wish you the best in the upper teirs, there are just issue beyond times that are hurting this game more, times are one of them thou, but for me definitly not the top priority. Same issue plagued dark age of camelot , it is what it is. But the other issues are really killing it more atm.

Your screens show what the final score was as well, day time we owned it when we wanted to own it, but near the end most of us (I know my guild personally) just gave it up. Why? because there was no fights to be had , there we some no doubt, but nothing that would be considered a constant presence on both sides or balance at those times. Even thou there wasn’t we stook it out for awhile till we just gave up on the whole thing.
It’s not that we don’t want to fight, it’s we want other matchups that are on when we are. Yeah, we are asking for too much as most other people constantly post. I for one will be very happy at a lower teir , why? because it is easier? No, actually because there will be battles to be fought on what I consider our prime time to be. I had more fun and less kittening from all sides at the lower teirs to be honest and the stress was a ton less. I don’t mind being compedative at all, I actually enjoy it. Just the map flips got old mid week threw to a point we said f it all.
Now we dungeon run and once and awhile maybe for 30min hit WvWvW for some points, but other then that, no real presences till the next match up. I have no doubt some on our server will continue the battle, but for us atm, we are just pulling back and letting others have the fun. Between the constant server jumping of guilds, name calling and the list goes on about many things like this, it’s time to take a break from the politics. I am just chimming in here because today I am sick and can’t sleep so here i am reading the news of WvWvW.
Don’t take me wrong we had good fights last match, but in the end the time differances where seen by all. You might be convincing yourself differently, but I can look threw the WvWvW threads now and find tons trying to “Pull” other national guilds from EU and EU from US to populate their night players. Great for them, personally it’s just a game and in the end if that’s your way of having fun so be it.
For me and others, the issue isn’t the times as much as the server jumping, exploits and OMG THE FREAKING BOTS! I have now seen the same group of 9 rangers from level 10 to 80 now in WvWvW for 2 weeks and Anet doesn’t do anything, sorry but EVERYONE on our server knows this group it’s become the laugh of Anet policies and how they don’t follow threw with what they say they are doing. Living proof is on our server in Northern Shiver Peaks Jump Rat Puzzle area for all to see. Been like that for awhile now. First in PVE now in WvWvW and tons of reports, anything in two weeks? Nope. but they are working on it!
Bah, there goes the economy, there goes population and more. These issue are killing this game faster then anything you and I are discussing.

personally I think seige items attached by the tower/keeps should have defensive buffs on them and the user. Most of this WvWvW is matched up with a previous game known as Dark Age Of Camelot. I am SOOOO glad they took and learned from that game, it was great and this one is greater for it. HOWEVER…
The issue here compaire to there is our walls here are a bit shorter, in daoc only a hand full of ablities could take down wall defenses due to a range factor. To counter this, they could just buff those items or give them a timer buff for defense (IE ability). As it is right now, everyone just AOE’s and takes the users/siege down in no time flat (no seige needed ).
It’s a tough balance for sure, for in the end you don’t want it where it takes a zerg to take a tower or keep. While it would be “more realistic” this is , in the end a fantasy game , so true realism be damed. I say, just give this buff and it would solve some of the wall siege issues. If people use siege against siege, well it’s the same as before, it will go down quickly with or without said buff added.

I like it for myself I hate it for my enemies pretty much sums up most of this post. It works in this game as we have no dedicated healers as someone mention prior in this thread. Not to mention it gives you that chance of survival and triumph, so many times it was a close call but my friends would come in just in time and visa versa. Same can be said for my enemies, I prefer it and glad it’s in the game.

Once again Darkhaven’s orb gets hacked.
Not that hacking doesn’t happen, heck we had it last match from other servers and where told someone on our server did so prior match to that. However, due note at times it’s not hacks, lighting from the quageons (is that how it’s spelled?) will destroy alters over time as they do siege.
Yes that is stupid and should be fixed.

The problem is there’s no end game. There’s no WvW progression. There’s no titles or ranking for contributing (think vanilla WoW, warhammer, Aion). There’s no better or even different looking gear.
I disagree 100%, but then myself and I know my guild does not WvWvW for any of those reasons. We do it for the challenge. The badges, currency, valor and more work well for what we do there. The emphises of this game has never been some end game grind, the devs even stated this over and over. They even put in rediculious legendary skins for those that must have a long term goal.
I get it, some are use to this “I need something for anything I do”, but there was a day when gamers gamed for the fun of gaming. Seems to me we have plenty still doing so on servers with 1 hour + cues for WvWvW and more. So I have no doubt you and others feel this way, personally myself and others I know don’t. So the assumption that this is the main reason WvWvW failed is far from what the forums and players talk about in game on the subject. #1 reason that comes up all the time is transfers and everything else that follows in the OP’s original post is pretty much right in what I personally feel and read daily on my server alone.

I am curious, why does NSP when they have nothing at all usually in EhmBay’s battleground always take one supply camp, and constantly attack it. They die they lose they run back again and again and again, yet constantly dying. Not complaining I am just curious.
To be honest, we visited the map once this match up for almost the same reason, to find out why this is the case. For the 30min or so we visited this map, we found it was basicly that no one from any descent guild on NSP partcipated in this map. We also have 3 large guilds that in a previous matchup where around but now have left server or just left WvWvW this round. Also another guild had a recent split of members so alas a restructure happened in some guilds, others as mentioned previously has equaled an un-balance in our usual server turnout.
Add in the odd hours of match-up and we got what we have now. However last night in a rare stance, good players returned in EB and in a way proved too ourselves and others that we are here, just not as active as previously. [DH] DragonHorn Guild of NSP (not to be confused with Darkhaven DH) have been doing Dungeon Runs and WvWvW. So alas, we are not showing a full presences this time around. Don’t take me wrong, we are on WvWvW daily , but numbers are up and down depending on the times. It’s a nice change of pace and not getting frustrated with issues in balance of population. Again however, last night was a good calling and EB proves the fact we can do it when we are on , well played everyone from all sides!
I look forward to our future matchup’s with whomever we get matched with, in the end DragonHorn stance on WvWvW is have fun but also working as a perfect unit to accomplish our goals. Some might call us elitest or whatever, but we do want to be the best and constantly push ourselves to be so.
In this, when watching maps and status of areas, we visit and reprise the sistuation in those areas, to which as mentioned no one is really pursing that map section unless some guild gets an itch and thinks it is weakly defended. Don’t take me wrong, we “thought” about going in , hitting the AH with one crew and another on the orb, but alas in the end we wouldn’t stay to really defend it long enough to make a differance other then to prove a point.
We thought on this idea a few times this match-up but always came to the end thought of, “well if we do this, in the end it will be just gone by morning as we don’t have an late night/early moring crew to defend it” , So to this end, we have done more support of one map, one location supporting those that have been on said map sense the start of this match-up.

Early this morning…
EB back and forth tower and keep taking, we where out manned 5 to 1 and still held till basicly it was too late for anyone to stay on. However, during this time (most of us pushed our bedtimes back for this) we held and held strong, Darkhaven put up a good battle but with tactics in our favor we held.
Was a blast, doubt we will see much more of those being it’s almost over, but there where moments like these, that will be remembered.

Well I don’t know who the mezmer is, he/she is on around 6-9pm cst it was right around the northern area of what is known as AH. We had butt heads apx 3 times, one at the camp, 2wice at the tower near by. And the Mezmer has a dedicated team of 4 guarding him/her and we had a team of 5 as well so it was pretty even up. We would kill your whole team except that dam mezmer! It seemed the team would even sacrafice to keep him/her alive, was crazy fun but….

That sucks guys, but I don’t think it will happen. Being that multiple times when WvWvW servers crash or we get that “Auto Update” on WvWvW servers, we loose about everything we did , it seems mostly random at times. One update we still have everything but nothing is tied to the orginal deployer. Or in your case as has happened to my guild, the reset just whipes all siege equipment.
While your 1 time bout cost you 30g, I have no doubt all guilds have felt some number close to that. If my guild was to add up all the times (in prior guilds and now) that we lost items in resets, it probably would be close to your 30g. In that alone I am just saying, if all of us haven’t seen a dime back from all these resets, well… sadly I doubt you will.
Dont’ take this as well… “if they get we get” post, it’s just a fact in every MMO’s excisitance, if they did do this, there would be a cry for.. “well it happened to us!” in other ways. Personally if dev does read this and has a way to fix it, I suggest they just do so and del this thread and be done with it. I wish you all the best thou, but your not the first and surly won’t be the last.

My guild actually feels a bit bad for you off hours (well off hours to us US players). When the night shift happens, most of us now just go do dungeons and the like, your population explodes and so much so you have nothing to fight. My prediction is some of your larger guilds will move on to another server to look for action.
I just couldn’t do WvWvW capping while killing 10 or so defenders all the time, that would drive me nuts! Meh, don’t take me wrong, I am sure there are some that like that over-whelming majority on one side (makes WvWvW allot easier) however, just saying my guild for instance talked about this last night (just noticing the day/night map flips) and agreeing that indeed, that would be some boring WvWvW.
In any case, our peek fights are fun and many of you are just as experienced as any server, your night zergs thou :P Sadly we can 1v3 pretty much across the board and win , you have some key players (one mezmer still haunts me!) but beyond that, I say Kudos for the fun evening bouts, at least at that moment, things are fun

Meh, this is so “at the moment” when who gains up on whom. For us half the time it’s getting the pressure off so we will take or hold depending to push the tides to our favor. Also home servers are all about a 3 way battle and are designed that way. Your home server map will always be a 3 way. When you are on another home land server that is not your own, you are right bottom or left bottom and that is your nitch. Home servers have two fronts while the bottoms have one and all depending on where you make your borders and push is the out come of how fights become 2 or 3 ways.
There is no doubt that some might actually work to gain up on another , happen to us last map rotation and they should have done it sooner, could have almost won
but alas the 3 way battle is the best battle. For if one sided is over-populated the other lessers can counter it. There is nothing negative about this concept, it keeps the battles going and people playing.
If thou you beleive people are making treaties just for hacking that might be , but to be honest I never see this myself, it takes more then hackers to do something. However if a server is getting hacked daily and one side ends up with those orbs each time? I could see that happening, have issue with it? figure out who on your server is hacking and report it. Your best bet.

Presently you can’t kill the lord until you break the altar.
That makes no sense. The altar dies in 2 hits. Really, what’s the point of this mechanic? It should be the other way around. You can’t break the altar until you down the lord.
+1 This always bothered me too, while someone could hack threw the floor possibly, at least the flag would raise and it would be easy to see or report. Alas with the stealth fly in and out smash the alter in 2 hits, there is no chance for anything. Even if they fix these exploits, I also beleive this mechanic was reversed.

Can’t say I agree with one point in the OP’s statements. It’s not that I don’t get it, but you have to see a flip side of the coin. Yes, this is a game called Guild Wars and in Essences it is about guilds fighting it out. However, they also want solo players to have fun, off time players to have fun and make it equal.
So in this, these things like gold for commander? Yeah, I think it’s dumb, but fact is it’s ment so that people not in a guild or other concepts have a fare shake. Does it really defeat the purpose of Commander? Don’t know, if your blindy follow a commander icon after a few weeks playing, well.. nuff said to that.
For others it’s about organizing groups (the only way to get 30 man team going) and other tactics.
Tactics are a must I don’t care how many people you have, siege is a must , if you don’t like it why are you in WvWvW in the first place? You know there is a place that is just pure pvp right? You actually get stuff doing it as well! So yeah that’s a mute point.
- night capping, yeah sucks, but it is what it is , it has been in daoc for 5+ years and i am sure it will be the same here, devs already posted in another thread this will not change period.
-hacks, yup they are out there we are getting videos and screenshots, no arugments anymore that they are not happening, will ANET do something? don’t know they said they banned all these botters but I see 2x what I have in the last week. So go fig.
-Rendering, actually devs are thinking the technical end of this, so thats good, we might see a decent solution in the future.
In the end I get the complaints and reasonings, but when you think of these things , you can’t just think of one side or yourself, (well you could, but it won’t get the responses you expected) you have to think of all players and what can make that be as fair as possible so everyone can have fun no matter if hard-core , casual, guilded or not. ANET took time to think on these things and to be honest, as is even thou I might not agree with some choices, it is not a bad final product.

Actually u can claim it back, you just have to be perfectly lined up on the back end it seems, my guild built 4 of these one day and some people tried to take one. We got it back after a bunch of jump in and outs getting into our original owners golems
but yes u can, you just have to spam F and get behind them. Thou that was a few weeks ago , maybe a bug introduced in a recent patch? Just saying.

I like this idea actually, but it should be in the suggestion area, sadly I know that area of the forums get’s flooded. We had the same sort of issues in DAOC where the underdog had a heck of a time breaking into the realm war sometimes. Thou we had no repairs in RVR, it was other things. I do hope ANET thinks on this and the orb issue. But yes, most of the time they have their eyes “set in stone” on things. Thou maybe this time around they will adjust and grow to take part in actually working with the community, other games have taken this stance and for many it has paid off 10 fold doing so.

C; If orbs where ment to be stealth taken, then why do we have keeps? This is not stealth wars 2 , it’s guild wars 2, I have NO DOUBT the devs never intended these exploits nor portal stealth in and out. Sorry I don’t buy it.
D; FUN FUN FUN, seriously this is the challenge we have been waiting for and to be perfectly frank, sure we got some that just are frustrated to a of quiting (server side players not guild so far
) , but beyond those 1 or 2 I have seen, everyone is having a blast, even with the orb hackers attempting to turn the tide, everyone from every server carries on.
E; Finally respect, I have to say as a representative of [WAR], I am really happy with the responses and respect that is going on within talks about issues within the game , yet we (as mentioned above) continue on and have fun! I do appolgize for those that are following us from previous matchup complaining about NSP. To be frank they ranted and raved at how our guild cheated, the server cheated then everyone cheated and the funny thing is, we have no idea who this guy is. But this is the ONLY time I will ever even mention this issue. So whoever you are, enjoy your one tibit of info posted here it will be your last.

I still say that orbs could be fixed just by saying (the only time an orb can be taken is when the keeplord is down).
While I understand the idea of the actual tactic of snatch and grab (as a fun tactic not this exploit way) I would conceed this “fun tactic” in place of a more stable one that makes sense anyways.
So just have the orb tied to the lord , if the lord dies in the keep, the orb is free to be taken, if not it’s stays till lord is down….

Thank you for the kind words, I seen no reason for WAR to pursue a farce. Thou I knew in time that the orb would move or be taken again, it was our sign to you guys that WAR understood what just occured and would do nothing to interfer. We even discussed at one point lining up on a pathway when and if you got the orb to salute you all and bow to show we won’t stop you. Sadly however, I did not know (at the time) that your alter was destroyed.
In anycase anyone and I mean ANYONE defending this action, denying this action makes you just as guilty as the one that did it. Sorry, but if you can’t see that when most of two other servers plus now a video say otherwise, your are in a Bill Clinton moment of denial and I feel sorry for you.
See many of you again in the field, beyond this issue, we are having a blast, you have frustrated some members, excited others and made me cry in joy for the fantastic fights you guys have brought to the table.

At the point I seen this, I told the guild stop and not build defenses for the alter. After that I notified the server that the orb seems to be hacked and WAR does not con-don these actions. After that point others got upset as they were already pre-pairing defenses and I re-inburst them for their efforts as WAR will not defend in any which way.
After that point most on our server where discussing the issue and what happened and what could be done. I believe, over half our logged in population reported the exploit and I hope with this mass outrage we will see something happen.
While in the past on other match ups, our server was accused, WAR never took a stance for at those times we never witness this outrage. I have no doubt people on our server exploit, we removed two members recently for speed hacking. In the end, it is a game and if there is way to cheat people will find it. I should mention people that don’t care for a fare game but only griefing.
In any case, that is our stance period. We don’t care who says what about our guild , we are proud from the point we have grown and come together as a guild and will continue to do so. Blatant attacks directed to a majority or our guild will just be ignored. We don’t blame YAK server, we blame the person on YAK’s server. It only takes one to rune the game atm.
Personally my solution to the devs, shield all alters as we have in our homelands. Once the keep lord is dropped the orb can be taken. The only issues I know atm is the Mesmer snatch and grab, however I think they are fixing that. So to this end, it would make it equal to all and so far it seems, no hack has been able to deal with shielded orbs? I could be wrong, but I believe that is so?
Now you can say, they took it from you as soon as it spawned, true that but could have happened when the guy/gal that was doing it was at the alter waiting and just timed it right? Meh, not sure on how this particular exploit works, but SOMETHING definitely has to be done. At this point I am with most, just get rid of the orb power and keep it even for now. Let us just bash it out and have fun claim and defending .

One simple solution would be to give a timer to picking up the orb, same as killing a keep lord. You have to stand in a circle for say 20-30 seconds, and while doing so the holding team is alerted that their orb is being taken. During legit takes it wouldn’t be such a big deal.. but on hacking takes it would slow things down and make them much more vulnerable to killing or reporting.

Timer ftw, we still want the hackers and hacks fixed, but this is a great idea. Doesn’t hurt the game, if your are worried about travel timer, add whatever time you make for placing on the orb on the alter and add that to the travel time to get it there. works for me, people talk about the night zergs capping everything, on our server we only see this when night zerg guilds transfer, we know they don’t belong to the other server but they come in mass. We have seen this a few times and actually have guild names. But thats for Anet to deal with. As of right now, there is nothing against it but this is what the guild was built for. Crazy, because I don’t see what it really does for them other then giving them a bad rap. Once they settle if ever, they will be denounced by everyone at some point.

What we have notice (my guild WAR and other members) is that if you took out the free transfers of servers to begin with (being we are a month past into the release of this game anyways) you solve the server jumping. Night cap is always a given, has been in daoc for instance sense the game existance, it is what it is. However, server jumping makes that just much worse. Start charging for those transfers with gems, people have settled in and if your worried about new players not getting that “free transfer” till they find their home, flag their account for a free month of transfers.
Alas we beleive do this and you will solve part of the problem. Won’t totally solve it but when you start charging people to hop servers, they will be less likitteno do so.
To everyone : we will never get rid of this issue, it has plagued DAOC the equivlent to this wvwvw and to that end we as a community learned to deal with it or move on. It is the mechanics of the beast, to be fare it has to be anytime.
Now some might bring up the life tree concept given by another rvr type of game, these trees allowed guilds to set times of when something was open for attack. This system is great if the WvWvW wouldn’t reset, but alas it does and I basikittenhink the reset/ new server matchup was the greatest thing ever introduced to this sort of game play. Keeping it fresh and interesting. Personally I live with the idea above, just lock down the transfers with cost and only able to allow transfers once per week, not once per 24 hours.

Well the abc music is scripted music opensource code that allows developers to implment the system within thier applications. In this abc was implmented in LOTRO when it was launched and grew into a huge community in the game dedicated purly to playing music in game.
There is no actual voice singing in game (thou I you could sing I guess with the voip option, but alas the in game abc system is just an application that allows developers to code in musical tones that tie into variables that can be scripted out of game to make those tones = a musical assembly. In the end ,the system itself is easy to use and implment. What it takes a development team to do is make an interface (Gui) in game, add relivent sound files that = notes then apply the /commands and or button interfaces to load then execute the abc text files that players can develop.

All I got to say to the devs is, in lotro , that is the only reason I goto that game now and to be honest many players do. ABC music is simple to implment and can be a blast with scripting. I personally have developed and re-composed over 200+ songs for lotro in 4 part songs. 2 lutes, bass and harp. Many which get huge praise to this point,, you end up a game within a game. A social aspect that inspires even greater community. Fun events that can be added to seasonal events and more. Heck you can even turn said musical items into actual weapons of some sort

I would love to see it and just dump lotro. Thou that means, I would need to buy 3 more accounts for guild wars just so I have my own personal band again for production purposes. hmmm…
