Salvaged approximately 50 items last night (level 75+ rares). Ended up with 103 ectos. That’s over 2.0 per salvage. This is a small sample, but as I’ve stressed before, RNG is RNG. I could salvage another 50 and get a 0.5 per return, or worse. RNG RNG RNG. Deal with it.

They should fix the sub-par (aka everything other than swords and staffs) in the first batch of legendaries before even considering making more.

OP, I do believe you fail to acknowledge what ‘random’ is.

This topic stands as proof that words directly from ANET can’t be taken with any sense of believability. It’s sad really, as I had high hopes of my Ranger on the journey to and at 80, only to discover in the end they were a half-baked, broken profession which has no hopes of being fixed in the immediate future.

→ There’s profit to be made, you just have to do some investigation

There’s been multiple topics pressing for a developer response on the lack of effort that went into certain Legendaries (The Minstrel being one), yet no response. At this point, it should be pretty apparent they only care about hammers, staffs, and swords..

It already isn’t worth making them, IMO. Hasn’t been for quite a while. Only if gem prices come down considerably for stones to be purchased at a decent price will Mystic kits become a viable choice again.

This is nothing new. Monthlies reset at the same time as dailies (8PM EDT). Just because some players left finishing it to the very last minute and failed to check the time doesn’t mean there is an issue here.

ryokoalways, the problem is that most legendary offhands are terrible, and had no more effort put into them than the most basic (non-mystic-forge) exotics. Go look at The Minstrel, you’ll know exactly what I mean.

I’ve used approximately 630k worth of karma on obsidian shards (so about 300 shards), and I am only at 58 clovers (using the 1x yield recipe). I’ve also gotten obsidian shards back from using this 1x recipe, so my actual number of attempts is higher than 300. For me, it’s been about a 20% chance, nowhere close to the fabled 33%.

Just wanted to let AN know that they have lost a player due to stating the “one time” holiday event @ 3:00am est. For such a progressive MMO to make such a horribly unprogressive move is crazy to me.

“bad path to start down on” – Generally not being able to tell time correctly is a pretty bad path to start on, especially when that path includes making posts on official forums and making a fool of yourself.

This is an excellent idea. As the lodestones are currently very pricy and needed in bulk for many recipes, it would be a nice alternative to obtaining them.

Is this in WvW Borderlands by any chance? I thought the middle Quaggan island had something to do with this.

It’s unfortunate that transfers from the previous week or SoR bumped YB down to a bracket we shouldn’t be in.

Please don’t blame YB for dominating/camping this week. Instead, blame ANet for not locking down WvW transfers which are effectively destroying matchmaking.

I’ve been looking for an answer on this for a very long time, with no response from any ANet staff. There are glaring differences in the amount of effort that was put into the greatswords/hammer and other weapons (Focus, anyone?)

I just got the same message. Email not tied to other games, unique tough password. Also, I didn’t get an authorization request as if someone tried logging into my account, so something sounds fishy on ANet’s end.

Analyzing the thought process behind and Twilight and Sunrise so far, it will be mind-boggling awesome. It is a Greatsword, after all, and none of the legendary swords are second or third-rate so far, unlike other legendary weapons.

Wasn’t it confirmed from tests on this forum the recipe gives one of 2-3 weapons/shield? Don’t trust the wiki fully, ever.

Of course you guys do realize you are paying close to 10silver a salvage using a blacklion kit, yeah ? On numerous occasions it has been confirmed that mystic and BL kit have more or less equal chance. just sayin. But if your rares are from events, etc, that is ok, i guess. I save BL for strictly rune removal and any exo’s, purely out of superstition ofc.

From personal experience, I have found BL kits to be much more effective than Mystic kits. All BL kits I have were also obtained using free keys (from map completions, random drops), so no, it doesn’t cost me 10s a salvage, it costs me 0s per salvage.

Sure some people will only use BL kits for salvaging runes, but honestly, most runes in rares only sell for vendor value anyways. While I have 10 stacks of BL kits in my bank, I want to use them, not leave them sitting around.

I’m wondering if the particle effect is bugged. Are there any other particle effects that disappear after a certain amount of time? Maybe they are supposed to be flashier but are bugged so we never see them in flashier mode…

It really would be nice to get a word from the developers/CMs if the majority of Legendary weapons really are bugged/unfinished, or if they were intended to be completely lackluster in comparison to mystic-forged exotics.

The harp itself looks neat, but even exotic-skinned items such as the Immobulus or The Anomaly have better model creativity (eg moving parts) and particle effects than this LEGENDARY. If legendary only means “takes a lot of time and meterials to get”, they should remove all particle effects from dusk, dawn, and the staff. Just make dusk black, dawn white, and bifrost a static rainbow colour. Equal effort should have been put into all legendaries, or they should have scrapped the idea altogether.

I received 2-3 ectos each from the last 10 rares (level 80) I have salvaged with Black Lion kits, so about 25 ectos total.

It’s all about luck and RNG.

Yet another Legendary letdown. Not sure what the Devs were thinking making this Focus so underwhelming. Exotic-skinned Mystic-forge items are way better than the majority of the legendaries, and that’s just pathetic.

You know its bad when the highest-viewed thread in this forum just got locked. I guess they just want to silence us forcibly now. As such, R.I.P. Ranger feels very appropriate today.

Because the developers put as little effort into the pet system as they did the actual Ranger. It’s not surprising, look at the state of this profession and what little is being done about it.

Power being on every single piece of level 80 equipment was a horrible decision on the Dev’s part. They really need to add more diversity in gear stats to make other builds (ie condition damage builds) more viable.

Is it possible these items are vendor-purchased (which are not salvageable), and then someone put them on the TP? Regardless of who buys them, they will still be unsalvageable as they were originally purchased from an NPC.

Is this possibly one of the items that was changed to no longer be sold via karma vendors to prevent easy leveling of cooking?

Elementalist has by far been more fun than my Ranger (level 80, exotic-geared) ever was. It’s really hard to express how much more enjoyable it is. I am currently level 59. Thief was also quite fun (only level 20 so far). Ranger just feels completely drab in comparison, and going back to her to farm in Orr is like pulling teeth.

I would like to hear a Dev respond to these concerns. Many legendaries are clearly lacking in comparison to the Greatswords and Staff. Did they simply put minimum effort into weapons they don’t personally like or something?

Doubleteaming? While the other two servers were bashing their head against SM’s wall Yak’s swept through a lot of eternal. I’ve seen no double teaming to speak of.

Hoping the Devs look into this. It’s painfully obvious only the greatswords were worked on in detail. I mean… there’s 3 (don’t forget Eternity!) with great particle effects in comparison to one of every other type with minimal particle effects. What’s the deal?

Another legendary without particle effects that pale in comparison to the greatswords and staff. Makes you wonder if Anet just gave up after doing a few of the legendary weapons.

Usually around 8:17pm EST. At least the past several weeks have been past 8PM by that amount.

This should be under Suggestions, not Game Bugs.

Until we’ve seen all legendaries we can’t say if they all have ‘trail’ particle effects. It’s entirely possible this is the way this item is meant to be. I mean, it already shoots rainbows how can you possibly ask for more?

Nope. Not fixed. Shouldn’t be too surprising.

It’s painfully obvious the OP either doesn’t have a Ranger, or has not played them to the extent many of the other posters here have. The SB, in all my experinces, was the single weapon that made rangers viable to play in PvE, sPvP, and WvW. Now we’re just a class with completely kittened with weapons and with pets.

Yes. I await your subsequent post in 1 week about how boring and repetitive Orr is, as mobs in all three zones are exactly the same.

At launch I feel the rate was much higher, or I was just extremely lucky. From 1-80, I found about 15+ keys. Over the past 3 weeks however, I’ve found one. Either RNG is being unfriendly with me, or the rates did get reduced.

Warrior? No way. I’m already in the process of rerolling a Elementalist. I’m also toying with a thief. The sad part…? I’m already enjoying them a ton more than I ever did with my kittened Ranger.

The best part is that one of those two treaty servers actually did the hacking in this new matchup (NSP, I think it was), and flew an orb across the map. Too bad for SoR and NSP that YB has been making good progress despite this double teaming and has a chance at coming back during the week.

“Gate of Madness has managed to stay in the top half of WvW rankings by being better with less players.”. Sorry, but no. You managed to stay there due to excessive orb hacking. And until this is fixed, I doubt anyone would transfer to your server due to its poor reputation.

This is exactly how GoM managed to edge out Yak’s Bend for second place in last week matches. Constant orb stealing all week. The worst part is the GMs have done nothing to resolve this in the 1+ week it’s been happening.
