Rifle.
lack of proper voip is one of the main things dragging pvp down.
No it’s not.
Have you ever thought that you’re the source of your loses? You taking scepter in a power Mesmer build says a lot.
It really just sounds like you’re playing classes you like but aren’t very good at and the results are as such.
True Shot: To make this ability more rewarding for stopping you in place, we’re looking at further increasing the damage.
Thanks for your constructive feedback, everyone. I’ve got to head out for now. We’ll be back with more stuff, like traits, soon.
-Karl
Get rid of the roots on Guardians! I can safely speak for all Guardians in that we’d be willing to give up damage if you took away the rooting on True Shot. We’re supposed to be a mobile class, why are you putting restrictions on this?
Uhh…. no on all of this.
Just as long as you don’t pinch your nipples when you do this, I see no problems with this.
The real interesting part is what will happen when they release the next elite and it doesn’t have 25% movement speed increase.
Hiding levels behind mastery’s and how the new maps are designed makes me give the fun factor a 2/10.
If non-trinity was so awesomesauce why did all those people leave?
I think you’re misinterpreting the reason why people leave the game. The trinity setup is nothing more than how a class is played. People (PvErs) left the game because there is a severe lack of end-game content to keep them busy and something to work towards.
And then you have people potentially leaving the game because PvP has no arena style mode, match making is a complete joke, and the leaderboards doesn’t show skill but rather time played.
None of this has to do with how the class design is in GW2 but rather the lack of expanding on PvE and PvP.
No matter what happens I got my boys for life. I’d never turn or snitch on my boys. There’s still some people that actually have logic on these forums even though they no longer play. The old community was where it was at. People now a days just look for excuses and to point fingers at anyone to create drama. Guess that’s why this game is dead and the players that flourished are succeeding in life.
Holy kitten, is this kid for real? Blaming others who reported him and his rag tag team for overtly breaking ANet;s ToS?
Continue wearing your gaming shirts in real life and having a disheveled appearance because that’ll go far and make you successful.
First off, your gear is not going to be useless as the stats are going to be adjusted upward to make up for the lost stats you got from trait lines. So reign in your doom and gloom because the proverbial sky is not falling.
Second, there won’t be a reset as it isn’t needed and definitely something they won’t do – see first point. Your gross exaggerations makes you uninformed and jumping to senseless conclusions and asking for things that just will not happen.
Any plans to make Smite a symbol?
He’s a pver so who really cares what he says about SoH?
To put this into context

My small change list:
1) Make shield 4 a channeled ability. Upon activation, spawn phantasm.
2) IR change to an ICD rather than two clones
3) Gravity Well does too little damage and too little overall for an elite that’s on a 90 second cool down.
4) Signet of Ether should have a 0 illusion passive heal added and changed from 3 seconds to 1 second ticks.
A simple option to turn it on or off. Best of both worlds.
Lol are you guys really commenting on his posture? Who cares?
Someone who cares about the health of others…
It’s as if Yoda had a stroke and subsequently lost his wisdom.
I don’t care for the canopy style maps that HOT brought.
Hiding levels behind mastery’s and how the new maps are designed makes me give the fun factor a 2/10.
What’s funny is that an ANet developer said they weren’t going to make any changes to the system because “a few weeks worth of data” isn’t enough for them to make a change…
They must not play WvW.
Guardians really don’t have that “oh sh**” skill that can get them out of a situation like most classes.
I’ll use Mesmer as an example as it’s really the only other class I play. They have a few ways to get out of those situations with one big one being Blink. The big thing going for this is that it doesn’t require a target. It mimics JI but with JI, you need a target… kind of useless if you’re stunned/cc and you have no way of getting out, Aegis application is minimal and only applies to one attack and Wings of Resolve can be interrupted (and no heal!).
Guardian falls short in a lot of places that worked when the game was first out but its abilities have not caught up with the times of today’s game.
I want an animated salt shaker that slowly pours salt out.
This isn’t even a bandaid approach in fixing the many problems with pvp in its current state.
GW2 pvp is in maintenance mode. They had two new game modes to pvp which had more complaints than positive reviews – courtyard and stronghold.
You’re not necessarily going to see build diversity if they don’t address the traits. Otherwise people will use whichever setup is the strongest for that game type.
I don’t quite understand how tournaments will be organized quicker with a 2v2 or 3v3 roster. Maybe it’s just the wording used here?
In any event, there’s a lot wrong with pvp that will not get solved by reducing team sizes and going to a conquer mode.
I’m pretty sure the OP isn’t playing with a full deck of cards, if you know what I mean.
This post seems massively trollish and should be deleted in everyone’s opinion.
Two sides to every story. You must have said something to him during the match or shortly after.
“Things ANet should not change.”
Three months is fine but I’d expect more out of the balance updates.
We’ve identified additional accounts of players who were involved in account sharing and match manipulation.
We’ve given them dishonor for the remaining season for now. Our investigation is still underway, so additional action may be taken later, should we determine it appropriate.
What type of pathetic punishment is this? No wonder people don’t take PvP serious when you people don’t protect the integrity of your game and game mode.
Another change that ANet is making which shows they have no idea on how to handle WvW.
They have some very questionable WvW game designers.
What’s with the over abundance of tiered level maps? It makes exploring these maps not fun, boring, and pretty frustrating when you are trying to map complete and follow the living story. I’d be fine with the tiered level maps if they weren’t so crazy to get to – follow this daisy chain of updrafts and jumps just to get to a new tier; make a small turn and start over from the beginning.
The maps are nicely done but the fun factor in exploring them and having the same boring style is dwindling pretty hard.
I can’t believe people actually sit there and come up with these crazy ideas and think they’re good. And want to be taken seriously…
I’d say 6 months.
For the love of the game, give me an option to turn off the stupid, unnecessary tron backpack voice.
I don’t need to constantly hear, “Your grawl impression is really coming along.”
10 players are collected before making teams.
You are looking at ratings after the match which are going to be further apart than the ratings that were used to make the match. The two duo queues on one team is annoying, and something could be done to improve that.
And as always (though slightly out of date) the matchmaking process has been documented here:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/PvP_Matchmaking_Algorithm
Your matchmaking system needs refinement. Why can’t you acknowledge that? How could you not have the foresight of knowing 2-2-1 vs 1-1-1-1-1 split doesn’t work? Why do you still hide averagebteam rating? Need less transparency in this fickle PVP system.
The problem with Guardians, through my eyes, is that they’re so far behind the 8 ball in terms of abilities that they’d have to nerf all other classes/elites just to get on the DH level.
Extremely lackluster trailer; it was just a jumble of oddly placed visuals with a voice over.
I’m glad we’re going back to Orr, though.
I thought it was pretty comical when he (Chris) said, “There seems to have been some impression that these players and all their accounts would forever be prevented from participating in PvP in any fashion forever. That was never stated…”
And Ben originally stated,
“ima kong fu ninja.3052: permanent dishonor meaning just this season? Or For all seasons to come?
Ben: All seasons.”
They can’t even get their story straight and they expect people to play by the rules? I don’t even know what to say at this point.
There are only two changes I’d like to see:
1) Flashing Blade: can teleport without selecting a target
2) Zealot’s Defense: keep the mechanic but get rid of the root when activated
These changes were based off player feedback, so if it’s anyones fault, it’s ours. ANet is taking a chance and using our feedback to develop, something we’ve been begging for, so let’s see how it goes before the doom and gloom.
I’m all for that but four seasons of disappointment is hard to forget.
We’ll see, though.
One question, did you read his post before commenting? If yes, then how did you manage to skip the part where he said “Idid a little research and apparently these programs are out there. What does Anet do to protect the game’s integrity against hacks like this?”
I did read his post. Did you read mine? The link? Anet has secure servers. That’s all they need to do. If someone is truly causing him lag, then it is a DDoS, which is a fault on his end, not Anets.
So are you saying there is nothing that a user could upload along with his/her gaming data that could slow down the instance of a pvp match?
That is virtually impossible.
It’s a shame that they wasted development hours on implementing gliding when there are much bigger items to address.
Shirley you jest that it was removed from WvW…
The swim lane design is a much better approach than the space invader tree layout.
It’d be nice to have the new weapons added to baseline.
What’s with people trying to use real life logic into inanimate objects taking poison, confusion and any other fantasy condition?
This is a game, folks. Move on. The Force isn’t real. Lightsabers are not real. People cannot be turned into Moa’s or summon magical kitten from their hands.
I agree 10000% in removing solo queue from ranked PvP. If will make it easier to find a group since you will NEED one to be able to do the content, just like needing a group for fractals/raids means more people are looking for one.
It’s not mathematically possible to create a system that creates proper matches with good matchmaking queueing 10 random people together, so the only real solution is to make it ranked only. A proper matchmaking system can EASILY match a 5 man premade team against another equally skilled premade team based on MMR alone.
This is the only solution to making matchmaking good.
This will overall create a better PvP experience for almost everyone.
When you create these hard barriers of entry you significantly reduce the amount of people playing your game.
Your narrow-minded view on thinking this is the only good solution restricts you from seeing how detrimental this really is. This is a play at your own pace game in all aspects – pvp, pve, except raids. Options are good, very good – forcing players down a path leads to nothing but lost interest and that’s not good for business.
If ANet actually showed player MMR and the average MMR of your group during PvP you would see if you have a good matchup or a bad matchup. Yes there will be +- variances but that’s a good thing. If they offered better rewards for winning against a higher MMR team and you lost less for losing against them, this would be a much better solution.
If you can’t see that PvP is essentially a life force for ANet then stop coming up with this ridiculous ideas and claims. Think beyond your narrow scope of what PvP should be and see how it impacts everyone.
You stumbled upon them like anyone else would (read, that_shaman) so anyone can claim they found them.
I was hoping Karl left with Jon Peters and the rest of the crew to Amazon Game Studios but alas, he’s still here at ANet.
