I just want to provide some insight on how this program worked for Star Wars Galaxies when they did the same thing.
Senators (as they were called) were voted on by the community and then the SWG team had the final say. They were Senators for a year and had to go through the process again.
No special powers were given to us and we were by no means above any of the forum rules. We were given a forum title and a different color forum tag to denote that we were forum helpers more than anything else.
What I did for my class forum was put together a list of issues and ranked them accordingly, with the help of the forum goers. We had our own Senator forum that we could talk amongst other Senators and official MODERATORS. We had no special access to the de elopers.
The list that we put together would then get looked at by the development team but we didn’t know what was going,to be fixed or enhanced.
I thoroughly enjoyed being a Senator and was by no means a white knight for SWG. Sure there were a few who were but they still had to abide by the rules or they were removed from the program.
This was a good program because it streamlines a process of communication which was much needed.
There’s a lot of strange concerns here that I’ve read which seems to be people, just grasping at anything to put this New program down.
At the end of the day, whoever gets picked will/should be someone who genuinely cares about this game and their respected field. Just don’t get the idea in your head that they can change anything.
It makes a lot of sense in that you go in with a set build and not be able to switch up during mid game because you’re up against a certain comp.
For instance, as a Mesmer, I can go in with Chaos line and PU and if I see that during the match there’s a lot of conditions being output, I can go OOC and switch to Inspiration and clear conditions when shattering.
That’s not exactly fair to the other team because you came in with a specific spec.
Risk vs Reward.
Any gear with MF stat, the MF stat component will be replaced with something else, hopefully interesting for us. I read it somewhere that Rune of Scavenging gets life steal or something but we’ll see.
You got any Links for that? from what i heard gear with Magic find is just getting the Magic find removed and no other stats added or increased. Guess it would be impossible for the same to happen to some of the Runes due to the fact they have so much of it as part of the set.
Read the front page of GW2, it outlines it clearly as to what is happening with Magic Find.
As someone who is heavily involved in software development, you better believe I’m making sure my team knows what they’re saying, how to articulate features of the application, camera or not.
It’s an embarrassment that he didn’t and he seems so heavily involved with class abilities. You’re giving him way too much credit and lenience, Obtena.
What’s more relevant is that they have high wind up on the great sword skills so any firm of cc is going to be he end of them.
I talked about burning guardians and physical Warrior right after the patch landed. At that time, people still complained about how underpowered guardians/warriors are, because they got stuck in the old mindset. They didn’t try burning guardians or rampage. Now everyone complain about burning guard and rampage.
Quit playing the old style Necro/Ranger, and you will see how strong they are. Use your creativity.
People should not complain about Rampage as that’s the only thing going for Warriors. But people complain just because an elite skill is strong in melee and their blinders prevent them from seeing that Rampage is very easily countered.
Because WvWers can’t have anything nice.
Josh Davis did say that solo queue wasn’t the direction that they wanted to go with PvP but this was a little while back.
Hopefully they’ll realize that they need to listen more to the pvp community when it comes to the core fundamentals of pvp before they go ahead and make changes.
Solo queue is really a must for league play.
Everyone is crying about what was seen in ~5 seconds of video. I think some of you need to get outside more.
What we know is that each profession gets a new specialization that would replace their core mechanic. And a new weapon for that specialization. So we see a video of what looks like a Mesmer with a shield casting a spell.
We also know that the new Revenant class has a new interesting mechanic and that by changing his elite, all his utility skills change.
So lets say that Mesmer’s does only get a shield as a new weapon with our specialization. Who’s to say that when we equip the shield, that the skills on our MH weapons don’t change with it. Maybe in addition to the 2 new shield skills, the currrent “illusion-based” skills on the sword & scepter will be replaced for new skills that support our new mechanic?
Maybe instead of everyone crying "we’re only getting 2 new skills
", we should be saying “SWEET, we get 8 new skills!!!”
The point is we simply don’t have enough information on what’s going to happen. And to scream bloody murder at ANet based on conjecture is just wasted energy.
Thanks for reading. And I hope everyone has a nice day.
For us who have been around since day one, we’ve heard the same story from ANet. They promise great things to us and make questionable changes so the majority of us are jaded towards anything they say at this point. The old saying of actions speak louder than words has never been more accurate for ANet and Mesmer updates.
I can’t wait for the quick handed changes to Chronomancer.
First, it’s “a lot” and not “alot”.
Second, there is no cash flow problem for ANet and GW2. Misguided direction from from leadership is the culprit.
Sword+Shield/Greatsword/Staff is looking to be my go to setup. This is really dependent on our finalized traits and any other skill modifications.
Talking to Mattis at Shipwreck Peak Waypoint gave me the glider.
WP is the biggest GW2 homer ever so take what he says about what’s OP or not and throw it in the trash.
I feel like other wvw issues should’ve been addressed because this is so slow on what would reinvigorate wvw.
Personally I feel our healing signet is one of the best heals in the game. While it does suck for glassy builds, it excels with tanky builds that heavily rely on illusions which my bunker and condi builkd do. The best thing about it is the passive heal can’t be interrupted. I have won almost all my duels and a few 1v2s because of this.
It’s actually a really bad healing utility with 154 hps, not counting active illusions.
Illusions in pvp are not alive long enough to make the hps worthwhile as the interval is every three seconds on the passive heal. With the amount of cleave and how often we shatter or should be shattering, the three second interval is just way too long.
You’re still better off with Ether Feast due to its 20 second cool down and if you manage to get three illusions out, your hps goes from 264 (5500 health) to 356 (7480 health).
Using napkin math, cutting the interval down to one second, adding a passive heal with zero illusions, and adjusting the heal/illusion passive, it’s not Warriors Healing Signet 2.0.
Base heal would be dropped slightly and I’d decrease its 35 second cool down to 30 seconds – with Blurred Inscriptions that’s down to 24 second recharge.
The only argument I can see against this is that Mesmers have the best hps healing abilities in the game currently. But being the selfish person I am when it comes to the Mesmer class, there’s room for improvement and updating Signet of Ether is a no brainer for me.
Original thread:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/archive/balance/Mesmer-Signet-of-the-Ether/
Bumping this thread because I feel as if Signet of Ether could use a look at adding passive healing with zero illusions. As it ticks every three seconds, I don’t see it being a huge issue and the healing is relatively low but something is better than nothing.
At least give Ether Feast a run for its money.
Seriously what did the 5 players do wrong? They entered a tournament, lets just say as charity work for the community. They brought excitement to PvP by playing with 5 PvE players accounts to bring the hype. The won the tournament fair and square, seriously S1- S4 gave out Legendary titles to many players who play ion Silver league.
Yes its Jebros tournament but the short man syndrome is getting really bad.
You can’t understand what the players for Abj did “wrong” by taking money and playing other peoples accounts that goes against GW2s TOS?
Just because ANet is lax about the integrity of PvP doesn’t mean other tournaments need to follow suit.
Dulfy…
All existing drops and crafting recipes that have created Magic Find gear will be replaced with three new combos:
Explorer’s recipes will be replaced with the Assassin’s stat combo (Precision, Power, Critical Damage)
Traveler’s drops will be replaced with the Dire Stat Combo (Condition Damage, Toughness, Vitality)
Pillagers recipes will be replaced with the Hunter’s stat combo (Precision, Power)
Reflect Mesmers use (rather should use) Assassin’s for PvE.
I’m not sure why people keep saying they have no date set for release.
Any and I mean any software company has a road map which outlines updates, features, and their projected release dates. Projected dates is a key part but when they start their sprints, they know what defects and bugs exist through a serious of uat/qa tasks.
They absolutely have a release date goal set in stone and barring any major setback, it will be released on that date which they will give us when they’re ready.
Time Bandits
After one of my favorite all time 80’s movie.
So play DH if you want wings. You can’t have everything.
They need to redesign their ranked play to include visible MMR and set a +- variable as to who you are matched up against.
It baffles me that they created this system when they really could have used other reliable MMR/ladder/ranked systems. They tried to create a better wheel but fell well short of the desired outcome.
I have very little faith in Josh Davis and his team to rectify this without a complete overhaul and start making PvP an eSport.
A lot has to due to the fact that people keep trying to pawn off their build as the next big thing and they show game play against mediocre players.
These builds are like Jaden Smith and the posters are Will Smith.
Condition Mesmer just got a whole lot better for WvW. I’m curious to see how well it does in long pve fights, probably pretty good.
I’m at the point where I just want to play all specs at once.
Keep the same disconnect rule for whomever disconnects but can you cancel the match and have everyone go back to where they queued from?
Seems only fair if someone disconnects within the first 1-2 minutes to trash the match and not have it count as a loss/win.
Thanks, but i’m very experienced and I’m sure I’m playing at a decent or higher skill level.
ANet’s game design team likes to overly complicate portions of their game.
There is zero purpose to complicate participation and pip acquisition to this decay system that’s associated with many variables of maintaining it.
I have just never seen a development team at any levels go to great lengths to over-engineer simple systems.
I’m curious as to the overall tone of the forums at the point when they implemented the senators.
How much developer communication was going on at the time?
Did players get regular early info about thing being added/changed/removed from the game?
The overall concern is founded on a communication policy Arena has adopted, where SWG may have had an entirely different policy in place, that included informing players of progress in certain areas they felt needed improving. This doesn’t really happen all too often here, which is where player frustration/concern comes in.
Overall tone was really positive when they reimplemented the Senator program. It provided forum goers the knowing that most of the class issues would be sent to development in a readable easy format.
We never had an advanced knowledge of bug fixes or new new features. We had the same access to the test server as everyone else.
Just as long as people knew that someone was taking their considerations in they were happy. But I suspect that people here want more out of this system than what it should be.
It turned into a pretty extensive “job” for me as I always responded to many forum PMs and helped answer questions on my sub forum.
I just can’t stress enough that we were in the same position as everyone else. We had no special power to move anything along or push our own agenda. We were under a microscope on things we’ve done by the SWG official moderators who did a great job.
I don’t know how it’s going to work with GW2 (as gw2 has less moderators) but I feel like it’ll be a positive thing.
The standard: turn off all name plates other than players.
I can’t believe what I am seeing here. All we have is shatter and interrupt, condi is still shatter, both kinds of build are useless in PvE and large scale WvW. They have gutted the class in PvE and it was never that good to begin with. 1 sec of super speed does not make a build, especially when they have removed the offensive glamour traits. Clone death builds were the closest we could get to speccing defensively and the only thing we had going for us against people constantly in stealth, now we have neither.
Maim shatter and Power shatter have both been buffed but all that means is that they still might stay on par with every other classes buffs and with the insane buffs theifs are getting they are still going to chase us out of any serious PvP.
At best Chronomancer might give us an actual control build with access to slows and such but they have already said they are tying it to shatters.
Except that Condition is not tied to shattering your illusions. If you read through the new traits you’d see that the only one tied to shattering is still MtD.
What they’re doing is incorporating other play styles into others – in this case, you can now use an interrupt based condition build but also still use an interrupt shatter build as each line offers something completely different.
There’s no question that Mesmer has a higher skill ceiling than other classes and based off of what Robert Gee has said and what they have so far in our traits is making it rewarding in the combinations we can pull off.
This class relied way too much on spam and die clones and reward that as “good gameplay” so they’re moving away from that mind set (not entirely) and moving towards active gameplay.
Essentially what we may see are more hybrid style builds where, as an example, interrupts could be a focal point of condition damage.
Then throw Chronomancer into the mix and who the hell knows what we’ll have. Nothing is finalized, we only know what they’ve shown us and there are still unanswered questions. But so far they’ve shown me that they have a solid direction for Mesmers that I and almost all of us are behind.
This thread is proof that people that spout their kitten in here do not play the game at all.
Firebrand mantras and books are insanely powerful and will be severely nerfed in the coming weeks.
With no stability and long cast times, how are mantras and toms extremely powerful? Sure in a fight where you don’t get focused it does damage but any remote focus and you’re history.
DH is Balanced:DDDDDDD lol everyone who says that is facerolling over the keyboard and kills most ppls with 0 skill.
DH got way too much survivability combined with blocks.
They even heal up when they fart.
Seeing as how really nothing of importance changed with DH since start of HoT, DH has been balanced compared to the rest of the classes.
But let’s forget that DH got completely shut down by Engineer and Elementalists and kitten near every other class just until last update. At least now DH’s have a fighting chance.
And I’ve been maining a Mesmer for about 3 years now and DH’s are near perfect balanced. It’s the other classes that need tweaking.
I’m still holding out that they give us another man hand option. If we wind up just having an off-hand shield then I’m out of this class quicker than you can equip the shield.
It’d be nice for us to get a better picture of what to expect if they released information regarding Mesmer specializations in HoT soonish.
Berserker is going to be really good and the core traits are going to synergize really well with it.
Overall, I’m really impressed that Robert has created three great specializations and really understands how to make a good spec.
Can’t wait for the next BWE to try out Berserker.
Carrying a game as a solo queue is hard as hell. I wish ANet would show us the MMR of our teammates. I feel like teams are composed of players from a wide range of MMR.
I think if you play a support class like Ele/Druid or a class with mobility like a Thief/Mesmer, then you can carry pretty hard, but for me, a DH, there’s a limit to what I can do. :/ I really wish everyone had to solo queue, lol
They absolutely need to show other people’s MMR or at the very least, the average MMR for both teams.
Irino failed at designing Firebrand. I don’t understand how they can overlook the obvious that Guardian’s need.
Noone understands guardian cause we are in a good spot from 2012.
Firebrand seems excellent on static golem. They forgot that ppl move in wvw and pvp…. Plus 300 cone….. Its like staff nerf, FB is condi turtle lootstick.
Yeah that’s exactly what I mean. How can they sit in a room and design a class that is frontline based on the axe skills, mantras that are in a cone, utterly subpar healing, no movement speed increases, no real defensive skills, and call it a good balanced PvP spec.
I’m probably being overly salty here but a kitten smells like a kitten no matter how you dress it up.
Making a good guess but we won’t see strictly off-hand weapons being opened up as main-hand weapons or water weapons being used on land.
The type of weapon is somewhat irrelevant as we have a melee weapon used as a ranged weapon.
high concept
a more mature themeYou do realise you called it Dragonhunter right?
D hunter sucks and no amount of trying to weasel your way into presenting it as a super mature, deep and complex name is going to change that.
Yeah sorry, but I’m gonna have to agree here. When I first read it I instantly had the impression that someone brought their 7 year old kid to work and asked them to name the guardian elite specialization. It has a very juvenile vibe; it doesn’t sound mature at all.
You can say that about the professions we have here. You cannot get more generic, or in this case, juvenile, then calling something a “Warrior” or “Ranger”.
I’m still baffled that people are caught up in a name that has no impact on you whatsoever (okay, maybe role players).
I personally don’t care much for the Dragonhunter name but it’s only that, a name. Show me skills, show me traits, show me utilities that will be worthwhile to take and you can name the class whatever you want.
I don’t even know what to say to you, man. If you can’t see the difference between match manipulation and what Abj pulled off, you do you.
HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: phokus.8934
I’m fine with the prices but they should have offered a character slot in every package at the very least.
Mesmer burst is fine. We are already to the point where people need to learn to play.
The only thing I’d change is burning. But only a bit – tone it down (damage? Stacks per class?) And this patch is amazing and what GW2 is all about.
I’d like to see them drop the straight line for Counter Blade and make it work like a bounce between targets. Change it from 5 targets to 2 and have it be affected by Illusionary Elasticity.
Respect the beard. Touch the beard. Be the beard.
With the nerf to Purification cast time, I suspect we will see posts about reverting the change, how DH is no longer viable, and that DH is OP.
We are in for some crazy times, that’s for sure.
GW2 will never reach mainstream e-sports level due to PvE being the main focus of this game.
If they separated the abilities from PvP and PvE, then I’d have a different opinion.
The decisions that ANet has made and continues to make with regards to PvP clearly shows me that they are flying by the seat of their pants. I look at some of these LinkedIn profiles of these designers and I scratch my head in disbelief that they’re making core design decisions to this game.
When they don’t do any market research into PvP, don’t listen to their customers, and continue to go silent on balance updates, there’s a reason why people stay away from GW2.
So increasing the prize money will do nothing in the long term for GW2 because there’s a lot of problems at the core of GW2 that need fixing first.
This thread is extremely useless as it’s already been said that there are no new weapon types being introduced and that every class will get one new weapon.
I wouldn’t put any stock into what Devon Carver says about anything relating to GW2.
The head of marketing at ANet said “this summer” means a lot more than Devon saying “don’t think too much into it.”

", we should be saying “SWEET, we get 8 new skills!!!”
