PvP balance is completely out of whack. But this is what we have to play with today and will just have to wait until the next expansion to see what broken elite specs are released.
No. PvP balance is not completely out of whack or even out of whack. It is kinda balance when you compared to other seasons and years.
Recency bias, it is a thing.
You don’t need to compare current pvp to the other seasons or years to conclude that pvp balance is out of whack.
The introduction of elite specs spiraled the balance into a deep dark hole of craziness and forum posts.
It was more enjoyable to watch the video with the sound muted so I didn’t have to hear the annoying “call caster”.
Clutch play… hardly. They were already winning, already in a good position to capture and were looking to end the game.
And can we stop with calling everything “hype”?
DH that doesn’t want to invest in crit complains about hitting 2k on ranged attack on heavy golem? Really now? Good joke.
I think us DH are more frustrated with the RNG on its damage. The rng is so big that I can’t hardly distinguish a damage increase on an 10% or 20% dmg modifier; the damage range of numbers are often inconsistent.
Trueshot is good for its crit… If I were to use it knowing it wouldn’t crit, I would just auto.
Btw.. all meta DH builds in high tier pvp are “optimized crit builds.”
No way AA hits as hard as True Shot when it doesn’t crit. Besides, everyone loses lots of damage when you don’t crit, especially with abilities that have an even longer CD (looking at you rifle engi/fresh air ele).
AA definitely hits as hard as TS when TS doesn’t crit.
As someone who plays a Guardian and a Mesmer, I feel like Deflecting Shot could use a better mechanic, akin to that of Tides of Time.
Add in an extra effect with it (i.e., if a shot is deflected, the target gets Slowed for 3s) – make it worthwhile to use. As it stands now, it’s not even worth using because projectile speeds in this game are extremely fast and when someone is on top of you – Mesmer Mirror Blade – you’re not going to deflect anything.
The concept of adding a range defensive option is a good start but the skill mechanic needs a drastic change.
I will give you no pointers as your posts are filled with troll statements and you cannot grasp anything in this game other than nerf classes.
Renewed Focus is the only elite worth taking but it’s not elite by any means. I’m really hoping our new specialization gives us something truly elite.
Completely OP but I wouldn’t mind if All’s Well that End’s Well made it so that a well’s pulse cleansed a condition (with each pulse) and stored it and on last pulse it explodes causing the conditions to be spread out in a small AoE.
I’m just going to leave this here..
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/warrior/Warrior-does-Less-DPS-than-the-WORST-class/first#post5453614
You can see them here in this somewhat cringeworthy esports hype video!
It’s actually a good move by ANet to show that the tournament players are not all neckbeards who (may or may not) live in their parents basement.
They could have done more with the videos and follow a format but for what it is, it’s just OK.
I just want to know why the Guardian ability: “Feel My Wrath!”: Grant fury for 10 seconds and quickness for 5 seconds to nearby allies. Cooldown: 30 seconds.
… hasn’t been nerfed yet? There seems to be a bug where shouts exceed the 5 player cap and when you have 6 Guardians in a WvW group, you get stacking/perm quickness. And try running into a group of Guardians who have perm swiftness spamming staff 1.
But reading the fixes and what Josh wrote, it’s pretty clear that they’re focusing solely on s/tPvP because of the absurd nerf to Chaotic Dampening and the monster nerf to PB. Grant it, PB needed it but the number change was just outrageous.
Josh and his team say no knee-jerk reactions because the patch has been out for a short period but they do the complete opposite when it comes to Mesmers.
I think we all have the right to vent our frustrations because we are one class that stands out where we get buffed through patches and then subsequently afterwards, get nerfed.
Stop treating this class and its players with such disrespect and carelessness.
Are you drunk? You seem drunk.
I like my original idea of making Staff 1 1200 range, 360 degree.
Moa signet and new TW mechanic are both insanely good.
For hot joins, I’d say TW might be more beneficial as rando’s barely focus target when called. But Moa signet just got insanely better and I’ll most likely run that still.
AN outdid themselves with this patch. I’m glad Guardian is still balanced, but had a complete overhaul of its skills/traits. Falling in love with the profession all over again
You mean “balanced” right?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/Possible-bug-DH-traps-now-unavoidable/first#post6257634Isn’kitten bug?
And lauding a class who gains greatly from said bug (effectively exploiting game mechanics) is not a good thing.
He wasn’t praising any bug just the overall class updates that were in the notes. The issue with Dragon’s Maw appears to be a bug, which if it is, would/will be fixed “soon.”
Simply put, we need solo queue back in or otherwise teams are just going to run the leagues.
As a Mesmer main, I see two Guardians:
1) Burn
2) Staff bunker
When I saw a Guardian yesterday apply 9 stacks of burning that was ticking for 3444, I could do nothing but try to pop stealths and see if I could get Regeneration. But needless to say, I literally melted.
For tournament play coming up, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see the return of the bunker Guardian. For everything else, I see burn Guardians running around setting people on fire.
I’d rather watch a CTF game mode than conquest node capturing.
Dodge counts, it counts a lot. It’s the one thing that every class has that counters Moa. People need to stop needlessly using Dodge but save one for when it’s needed. Field and situational awareness will determine when to use Dodge. You should know full well that if you’re up against a Mesmer and you pop Lich Form that you should be expecting Moa.
A few things of note:
1. Chaos Armor now gives guaranteed protection upon activation and another boon added
2. Burning now stacks, maybe intensifies?
3. Confusion was changed – it adds its stack but also has a high damage value in tooltip; quite possibly a tick from confusion as well as tick per skill use
4. Holy reflects.. way more access to reflects
5. DE being grandmaster is fine with IP being baseline
6. Interrupt builds, from first glance, is going to syngerize extremely well with power shatter that we could see some high spikes – even moreso
7. Lastly – these changes are not all finalized so temper expectations just a bit.
Overall, I’m happy to what they’ve done with the traits and layouts. This is getting me more excited to see what’s in store for our specializations.
I want the stats of berserker armor but the style I want doesn’t come in berserker.
Therefore, I transmute my berserker armor into the style I want.
You don’t see the point in making a decent looking character and not like a 5 year old dressed you? Image, man, image.
It’d be great if you could level up the mastery points anywhere in the world by just activating what you want to level.
Locking them behind Tyria and HoT and leaving PvP out of it is a turn off to me.
Total crap. Do you think for every patch they test every single world boss every time? If there were no changes to Teq, they wouldn’t have tested Teq. They are testing the things they change. A bug that creeps into one specific boss is impossible to track down unless they’re specifically testing for it.
Annoying sure. It’s annoying. But expecting every piece of older content to be tested every time there’s a patch…that’s not realistic.
This is where you’re wrong. Any “major” update that they push out, they test everything with the game. This is standard regression testing with automation. What you need to understand is that when the term “tested” is used, it does not entirely involve a QA person testing an aspect of the game. Automated testing is done for the vast majority of software, including video games. QA almost always does their manual testing on new feature sets or changed features. For the case of Teq, nothing has changed so they will utilize automated test scripts for that and if they don’t “fail” then it’s a “pass”.
Now who knows what type of automation they use to test this but these things do get tested with every update. I speak from experience and as a current dev manager in healthcare.
We’re supposed to be a mobile class
since when? guardian has always been one of the most notoriously slow classes in the game.
Slow, yes. Mobile, no, not at all.
Some people really do struggle with prioritizing their gaming.
Let’s see… open beta test of Stronghold for a new expansion or play a game that is being released and you have the many many days after to play?
Gee, I wonder what you should do?
Get real.
Wells need to be a bit more defined in group play. More often than not I’m finding that I’m not sure where they are and just go by where I placed my mouse.
Gravity Well still works really well even after they changed it.
Lost Time retains its charges out of combat so I hope it stays that way and doesn’t reset when you go out of combat.
Tides of Time is a welcoming addition and you can pull off some decent moves with it by activating it and then re-positioning yourself.
Using Sword+Shield with iLeap, Well of Calamity/Well of Action, and Tides of Time is a lot of contained damage.
I’ve been using Delayed Reactions over Time Catches Up as I don’t find myself having my illusions not hit. But the Super Speed is super speed – but Slow is just proving to be a much better debuff right now for me.
After playing strictly PvP so far, Chronomancer is everything I’ve expected and more.
No one is leaving the game due to solo queue. You’re just spitting out purely anecdotal garbage because you want this game to be a certain way.
To add…
Renewed Focus needs to recharge the Virtues on activation and not at the end.
Symbol of Energy – fire field – please, stop with the light fields
Shouts – heal by default; 1200 base
Skills that make you stationary – get rid of it; I’d rather see a decrease in movement then staying still as a sitting target
Shield 5 – turn it into a reflect instead of absorb
I think I can go on but I’ll save myself the hassle and just wait until next week to see what changes they bring to DH/Guardian.
I’ve always maintained that I’m cautiously optimistic about the changes coming from us with HoT and trending rapidly towards pessimism. With the new announcements made yesterday, that is slowly trending upwards again towards optimism because the changes are literally nothing but good for us.
We are all well aware that shields are mostly bad in GW2 and I had/have no doubts that it’ll continue to be so in HoT. But with the news yesterday, my opinion is being a bit more opened that the off-hand shield might be a solid weapon. I’m still not entirely sold on the shield because I feel like we’d be way better off with a new main-hand but we are literally in a “wait and see” moment.
I’m still tempering my own expectations as ANet tends to go one step forward, two steps backwards so I’m really hoping today’s AMA is insightful for the Mesmer class… in a positive way.
There are still a lot of unknowns and still way too early to start calling doom and gloom on anything because we do not have the full information at our hands to make solid arguments.
Stop being 5 for two minutes.
You said that there was no counter to DH pull to which I simply stated that stability protects you from being pulled.
Generally speaking, have a greater overall match awareness and don’t get tunnel vision that so many people get.
What are you going on about? You must be one of them people that are offended by every response because you got a reply. I wasn’t being sarcastic quit jerking off about it.
Is there something seriously wrong with you? You literally are making no sense right now.
This is the most ridiculous post about “fixing” mesmers I’ve ever seen.
I find it comical that non-mesmers try to fix other classes.
Leagues need solo queue back, even from duo.
They need to get rid if this nonsense or have a validation process to bypass this silly change.
Once again they put a change in for the greater good but lack downstream vision on its impact on its legitimate user base.
Oh, I almost forgot!
Guardian Staff 1 needs to be 360 radius and 1200 range.
Please don’t bump a thread that’s not even 24 hours from last post. Also, it does reek seeing as how you pimp “Please send gold/t6 mats!!!!” so just let this thread take its natural course.
I could only take 1 minute of the video due to the kittene music but good intentions nonetheless.
Yeah, and necro has so many of those (blinds and blocks), especially when transformed… way to encourage constructive discussions btw.
There’s nothing to constructively discuss about a skill that can be very easily countered with one dodge – which all classes have access to. And Necro’s have on-demand access to blind with off-hand dagger, Signet of Spite and Well of Darkness, to name a few.
Dueled Chaos on Kshot was vs his Chronomancer. Also have vids of Tealot on condi mes vs Chaos Chrono that I’ll get to.
Why they no dodge KS!?
The problem is the OP. I’ve played against him a few times and he was feeding far (our home) all match and kept dying.
You want to know where 99% of the problems come from? Look in the mirror.
GW2 matchmaking isn’t perfect but to make some outrageous claims like you’re being singled out is pure lunacy.
I’d love to see the Storm Bow be brought back.
Top stats already give pips. Unless people want MORE pips?
Who cares about pips? It’s a linear progression model that you’ll gain just by playing. By having it affect MMR + means your effort isn’t in vain when you lose while carrying the team.
I didn’t play it very long but I felt that seize the moment (quickness on shatter) didn’t proc with IP… Will test it further later tonight
Yeah you don’t. It’s based on having an illusion out.
This is such an odd request – what exactly are they trying to solve?
Except Tomes with their 3/4 cast time to go into it and another 3/4 – 1 1/4 to cast an ability is 2 seconds of not doing anything and you’re easily CC’d.
Tomes need to be at most, 1/4 cast time to go into them and the 3/4 – 1 1/4 cast time of abilities need to be shortened.
FB overall melts way too quick when focused by two players. FB shines in team fights if you’re not getting focused but right now with the lackluster abilities, long cast time and cool downs on the abilities, you’re more of a liability.
It’s called the loot stick for a reason.
You can camp one weapon set and just switch legends to force the procs of the weapon sigils.
What’s not to like?
Season 1 is going forward as we described, however nothing about future seasons is set in stone. We’ll take a look at the data we get from the first season and will absolutely make adjustments so that future seasons are even better than the first one.
My concern with four leagues is simply that there isn’t enough variety at that point. I could very well be wrong, but we are going to try season 1 this way and then we’ll take a look at how it played out.
So the year of WvW data, the 6 months of updated WvW data based on the new seeding/matchup, and the constant forum posts about how bad your design is isn’t enough for you?
I really have to question your ability to lead WvW game design because everything you’ve been doing to WvW has been abysmal. Based on a forum post you made a while back (saying … “I won’t make changes with just a few weeks worth of data…”) about how servers are matched, your fix comes in the form of a huge oversight of just a 2 league system for NA.
Now we’re going to be stuck with this system for 2 months… you sure know how to take something good and turn it into a pile of garbage.
Get your act together and leave your ego behind.
OP can’t be for real because people have two days playing a brand new elite compared to people who’ve been playing an elite class for two years.
It’s truly astonishing the thought process of some people.
Wait until the new elites settle down with changes.
AFK time, time doing nothing but running around and not using the game mechanics. You’re also making a huge assumption that all “veterans” would give feedback. There’s a bigger incentive for someone who bought the game to give feedback other than someone like yourself.
I can go on about how time played doesn’t equate to being good or being able to give positive feedback.
You’re looking for a free handout and have this gross notion of veteran privilege. Buy the game, play the BWE and give your feedback.
Unyielding Anguish is perfectly fine the way it is. It was high energy cost, has 4 pulses, and is desperately needed by the Revenant for some sort of control. Even then, it’s somewhat random where it places the target so it’s more used for reviving or pealing.
