off-hand training is a joke?? is just one of MUST HAVE traits for any trap ranger build. lot of trap rangers even use 2 off-hand weapons, but this trait is especially for torch, witout it your torch is pretty much useless to defend/atach a point ( and that is the only reason to use a trap ranger build, as point defender or atacker)

i can just smile to mesmer guys saying can kill a trap ranger easy, yes they can if are fight them on open area (this only happen on hot join because i never saw a trap ranger on tournaments that isnt on near point or far capture point), if you need to defend/atack a point you are useless against them.

i know because i was a mesmer point defender and after sometime lot of teams were using rangers as point atacker to counter meta.
those fights were a nightmare, couldnt do any serious damage( they just need avoid iLeap and even a full burt combo take 50% health only) and as soon i have burn on me i was dead, dont forget i already loose my point because i cant stand on point otherwise i will die in 5-10s.

if you are a mesmer point defender you are a joke for any trap ranger. you dont have anything usefull to remove conditions and a trap ranger have insane burn damage. you as mesmer point defender need help of someone quick or you will loose your point.

before i leave this game, rangers point atacker/defender was in lot of teams, why? to counter the meta where almost every team was using a mesmer point defender.

always the same excuse…game is FREE. GW2 isnt free….is B2P like almost every game exist. people pay 45€ and more for the game, stop saying game is free because isnt.

im done with this game, if sPvP improve a lot maybe i came back, but dont use the same excuse: game is free so you cant expect much from it. is like saying uncharted 3, max payne, etc are free games….

nerf MOA (this elite is actualy excelent for enemy escape from fight) , nerf TW, mass invibility is already useless so dont need nerf it.
nerf portal and nerf MW damage, so mesmer can be useless on tournaments.

sword MH is already a crap because for some reason ILeap now fail most of time, is summon and dont go quick run to te target just stop and do nothing, without immobilize blurred frenzy is useless

quickness should be remove from this game. if they nerf TW than any other quickness skill need to be nerf too. amazing how people complain about TW but haste on thief/warrior isnt a problem lol

TW is powerfull but isnt like some guy appear on your back with quickness, NO, is visible to everyone, when you see it play full defensive.

The next skill on the ruin list will probably be shatters. It’s our dominant build at the moment (some folks say our only viable build). Ruin that and there’s not much left to target except little things like Time Warp.

and its true, is the only tourney viable build.
if they mess with mind wrack damage they serious need improve lot and lot of other things because without MW damage shatter mesmer will be a joke.

would love to try a phantasm build but they are so useless. would love play a condition mesmer but wich 1h weapon will i use with pistol and staff?? kitten scepter or useless sword (on this build)?

im waiting for a p/p combo, pistol main hand doing some bleeds look great

mesmers dont have other option beside go shatter and full berserker.

IMO mantra healing is the worst healing we have. even full traited mean you can cast it 3x with a 8s CD, problem is: after you use the healing 3x you are done, no more healing in combat because on tpvp a insane 3s to activated mantra healing is insane……

3x mantra healing isnt much better than ether feast + 3 illusion, for me taht heal skill look terrible

maybe this build is good on PvE or WvW dont know, but on tPvP look completly useless.
dont mention that prepare all mantars before combat seem a pain, do the same kitten over and over again

no PORTAL and less burst compared with a pure shatter build.

if they remove TW from mesmer they need remove every quickness skill from game, otherwise is RIDICULOUS.

many class have much more easy acess to quickness and already with high speed atack rates.

personally i prefer quickness be remove completly from game (IMO dont make any sense on this game) and replace TW with some great summon phantasm (obviou this phantasm would be affected by shatters or wouldnt be a elite skill).

maybe a phantasm that remove conditions ( mesmers are a crap removing conditions), dont know, just want a big phastasm, would be cool xD

null field suck, isnt effective reomving condition so people dont use it and prefer MI ( or decoy for defensive or the illsuion life to revive players) to burst down quick conditions builds. null field will do nothing for you againt a Necro/engi condition, only good against thief/warrior bleed but how many of them exist on tournaments?

if null field work as description than will be a amazing utility, right now for me is useless.

i used null field on begining when i start play mesmer, because every class need to have somthing to remove conditions right? forget it, better to have something else to burst down more quick the condition class builds

yap….everyone is having insane spike lags of 5-10s in that map. before i enter on temple silent and go until reach the crap raid capricorn (did i say already this map is a completly crap why they dont just remove this map???? no one like it….) , than i leave and join a new server now excluding capricorn and forest (totally unplayable now) i dont have much choice and play capricorn, that or be always leave and enter new servers.

lets wait for February pacth, arenanet say will change lot of things on sPvP. im not very confident about that patch because this guys specialty apparently is lying to pvp players.

lets see what that pacth bring because is that patch that will gonna say if spvp of this game dies or not. lot of pvp playes is waiting for that patch to see if they return to game or leave completly the game and if that patch dont bring LOT and LOT of major chances i can assure both arenanet and players will abandoned for good this part of GW2 .

after 4 months !!!! game release spvp didnt get any major change, most of changes were failed attemps to balance the game and minor class bugs fixs ( well most of time they fix something and bug something else) and now in a single patch they are promise us lot of changes on sPvP? sure……yap…..

this game need lor of rework to have any good sPvP.

exist lot of animation, anything more than 2vs2 is a giant mess where you cant see almost anything with so many animations (pro player obvious will gonna say they can see all single animation because you know they are PROS).

the only class is good in terms of animation is the warrior, is fun play against warrior because if you are good you will avoid is powerfull atacks and is one of the reason why warrior right now are one of weakest class in game, not because have low dps ( they have great dps even without 100b) but because skill animation are obvious.

ele are a huge mess of kitten appear on you screen, fire everywhere and other craps, most of them you dont even need worrie much but for some reason everything on ele need have big animation, RtL have great animation because is the start of ele burst combo the rest is exaggerated.

mesmer another big mess, probably the worst of all classes, im a MESMER and i know very well how batle fields is full of useless animation, if you put 2 mesmers shatter with MI that is a BIG mess.
crap null field (no one need worrie much about it) have the same animation of chaos storm something that is powerfull.
the open burst combo that is the iLeap have a crap animation, most of time with lot of clones around you dont even see the iLeap coming, and if it cast close to you you cant do nothing to counter it because you cant see it coming.

thief on other hand lack animations!!!!!!!

rangers everything is the same and you have those insane evade atacks on sword/dagger in very low CD. everything look the same, between evades and random dodge where you dont need any player skill you are will avoid lot of damage, not because you are good but because game give you the tools to avoid easy the atacks

happen the same with thiuef with DB, between random dodges and spam DB they are invulnerable for long time withou need any player skill

why do you think spvp is dying? this game is more about coordination than player skill, isnt fun to watch

when i say this need game lot of work inst just in terms of balancing issues, is MUCH MUCH more than that, but im pretty sure in february ultry hyped patch all we gonna see is custom servers ( dont care about them) and trying to balance classes (yap trying because clear this guys dont know very well what to do)

if a thief spams HS as a gap closer, when he lands on the target he has NO initiative left to hit him besides auto attack, if you see a thief do that he is a bad players and if you are not you can easily take him down.

I’d like a 0.25 CD on thief skills, I hate using two of them at once, thief skills should never que.

I had the same problem coming from an MMO were spamming was needed due to no ability queue, but with time you get use to it, just requires concentration at start, then it becomes automatic

farm guys cant complain about what things they think are wrong with game? even if he only do hot join, if he is lvl54 for sure he know almost every class very well

if you want lvl up rank dont exist better way than farming hot join. a big game flaw, hot join should give low rank and tournaments should give much more rank

pretty sure not , 60% slow regen on thief initiative will make them useless.

i mean, i think thats more fair then them being largely immune to a condition just because of the nature of their class mechanic

Their utility, heals and elites are affected by chill.
The classes gimmick is mobility and Chill strips the majority of that power as well.
They’re not largely immune.

Pretty funny thread.

1) Can’t be bothered to learn how to play the game but calls other people bads.

2) Praises Anet for the patch even though it is just a poorly thought out band aid and shows once again that they can’t fix the bugs in their own coding.

3) Mesmers are now the only class that has to have los/not blinded/not get dodged/etc to be able to summon its pets and now we are the only class to have GCDs on their reactionary skills (F3 and 4 just became useless if you like to use F1 or 2). Yep balanced alright.

i have only played mesmer and i am 100% with what they have done to mesmer. i would rather this then hear ppl crying all day about nerf. we dont need a nerf we need a exploit fix and they did it.

another mesmer here that completly agree with patch changes. SS were lot OP on sPvP (i suppose on PvE they could stay the buff but i dont remember last time i did PvE lol) and lot of mesmer were using the exploit combo

When you’re troubleshooting something, it’s best to focus on one variable at a time.

In this case, culling is causing the most issues with stealth since player’s don’t appear right away after leaving stealth.

So, first fix culling then observe if stealth still has issues. Increasing the Revealed debuff , having stealth break on damage, or any skill/rune that reveals stealthed players is completely game changing and potentially game breaking.

Having played several classes to 80 in WvW, PVE, and sPvP, including thief, I personally don’t have any issues with stealth.

Unfortunately, a lot of folks in this thread are drifting towards whining. The biggest issue with stealth is culling, that’s it really. Killing thieves that use stealth often involves timed dodges and CCs such as immobilize, snares, fears, and stuns. Essentially, smart play, which is what it takes to kill other classes, too.

totally agree but arenanet take so much time to change anything on sPvP. at this rate this part of game will die before they make any significant changes

they need to do something like “gives x% chance to unstealth” so your aoe or whatever has % to de stealth the player if it lands.

stealth is only a problem on thief because is the onbly class that can use it offensive (with insane damage). the other class is mainly for defensive use

Because they already have. They can’t cast 2~4 skills at the same time (weapon skills). It would be like using HS + Death Blossom together, it doesn’t happen.

you are confusing instant skills with no CD between skills. any class beside thief cant use same skill more than once because have a CD (lowest is like 5-6s), thief just need to wait the skill animation end and than can cast it again if they have initiative.

HS for example can be cast 4 times withou any delay

just curious, are you happy with and is it your intention for moves with no cast time to be able to be used in the middle of a move with a cast time? For instance lightning flash during churning earth and steal during cloak and dagger.

stealth need some rework especially shadow refuge with insane bonus stealth at the end of skill

mesmer illusionary leap could have be more obvious , maybe a animation like warrior charge i dont know. the illusionary leap is like the charge of warrior, a skill before the combo burst.

im a mesmer and i agree that sometimes illusionary leap is hard to see. if all pre burst skills have a obvious animation like warrior charge the game will be much more fun.

and please change some skill animations. lot of them are very similar (some are basically the same)

All skills already have gcd 0.25.

than need to have a bigger CD.

im a mesmer and 0,25s on shatter they put is almost nothing but are shatters and only 1 do damage the rest is mostly defensive.

on thief they are skills and some with great damage, not HS isnt just for noobs, if your target is below 50% health use HS is one of best option to kill the target.

im not a thief expert but something need to be done about this issue.

the biggest problem with thief stealth is the shadow refuge, this skill shouldnt grant a huge stealth bonus in the end of skill.
just grant stealth if you are inside if you leave of skill end no MORE stealth, the most stupid thing is when a almost dead thief use shadow refuge and you use some AoE and you know he died but because he die inside shadow refuge now you need wait a huge amount of time to wait the stealth dissapear to actually kill the thief.

you cant kill him because he will teleport so you need to be very lucky to spam random skill and hit him until he die before stealth end.

thief have initiative so they cant have normal CD on skills like other classes but for sure they need some internal CD to prevent spam SAME skill 2-4 times withou any delay.

i will repeat again, this is just to prevent spam SAME skill, they should be able (if have initiative) use 2-3 skills without any delay but only if those skills arent the same.

thief are the only class can spam same skill 2-3x (sometime even 4x) withou any delay, this need to be changed.

love the changes. no more shatter exploit and SS nerf everyone that know the class was expecting it because was very OP on sPvP.

full of see crap mesmer on spvp using the exploit. at least now no one can say mesmer so much strong compared other class on 1vs1. now they cant stack huge amount of migth and that is ok for me because we already have good dps.

next change i suppose will be a nerf on thief (internal CD on skills to prevent spam, a 0,25s internal CD seem pretty good) and ele d/d

They can’t make money off of sPvP so they really don’t seem to care that much.

I find myself logging in less and less now, even sPvP becomes boring now (and i quit pve awhile back as well) Very little incentive to play anymore with the sPvP basically left to rot away, don’t think i’ll last till the next update at this rate. They really dropped the ball on addressing sPvP, but in the end it was probably the correct financial decision for them; it would take alot more effort to go the esports route to make money, than it would be to go the micro-transaction pve route.

PvE events that arenanet love why? everyone know the answer

me new pay tournament team dont want alyways play against same top teams, isnt fun at all. if we go to free tournament we win 90% of time (is so easy even against other guildies) than we go to paids and we loose most of time.

what we want is fight new teams on paids like us, we know exist some because on free tournaments we fight some teams with paid tournaments armour/weapons.

if they dont change lot of stuff next month i give up on this game. only want do sPvP ,WvW is a completly zerg IMO and PvE is PvE ,fun but after a bit is boring.

this game where more fun on betas than it is now!!!!!!

As usual, a bunch of people who think less people automagically means more skillz… if you believe that why not just do 1v1? Of course different fight sizes require different types of strategies…or should if the game is well-designed?

In no other MMO-style game is 8 people a ‘zerg’… and that’s assuming all 8 stick together …which never happens in any of the 8v8 hotjoins I’ve seen?

Basically, you want to force everybody into your idea of what the game is about (evidently button-mashing execution and counter-button mashing in 1v1 and other really small fights)…. despite the fact that 8v8 was first and presumably what the devs designed the game to initially?

first time i see someone defend 8vs8 hotjoin. 16 guys in such smal maps is ridiculous.
strategy on 8vs8 hot join? are you serious? you can even kill people spamming just 1-2skills.
dont exist any strategy there, except use call target (and believe most of guys there dont even have a keybind to “take target”).

want talk about strategy? a team that zerg on 8vs8 will never win the match, so you are talk about the strategy to farm rank/glory ( aka zerg) or a strategy to actually win the match? ( not that matter because if you win the match you win a CRAP bonus….)

hot join = zerg period. 8vs8, 5vs5 dont matter, dont exist any strategy there, people just want win glory/rank fast and the best way is zerg. why? because on hot join dont matter if you win or loose the match.

if you loose match you dont loose points, if you win match you win a useless win bonus (40-50 bonus LOL).

the best is that exist a max rank points per game that is if im not wrong 320 match

IMO should exist custom servers to test builds without any rank/glory points. if someone want win rank/glory should join a free tournament (divide between random and guildies) and the win bonus would be bronze/silver/gold chest like exist now.

if someone leave the tournaments will be enable to join another tournament for a X time, if he need to leave because some urgency for sure 15-20m will not go matter

basically if you want see any strategy on sPvP you need to go tournament, even on free you see it, on hot join never see in a single game a team withdefend points and play as a team to win the match, etc, all are roamers and 90% of them are canon glass, what strategy you see on 8vs8 hot join ZERG?

basically what you see is cap a point, go to another if you find a enemy player kill it and go capture next point and so on. if you are zerg in a point and enemy continue coming and die than you dont even go leave that point.

no one learn anything on 8vs8 hot join. is a zerg fest where newbies spam skills.

5vs5 hot join could be great if most of time wasnt 4vs5 and people leave after 1 or 2nd match and not forget many times you will see 5 guys run together.

hot join is just to farm glory/rank no one learn anything from there, no strategy, 90% of classes are canon glass with build for 1vs1 without any team support. is just to farm glory/rank anh have fun (most of time isnt fun at all) nothing more

free tournament: 8/10 →is really fun when you fight against guildies against random is a massacre

paid tournament: 7/10 →is really hard because most of time you play against top team. was much better if the new team fight each other on first round, still is here where we learn most .

we should be able to trade glory for gems (pve guys can trade gold for gems why we cant?), you know wxist things on market i would love have without spend real money or go farm gold on pve

other thing, is ridiculous teh amount of rank points you need after reach lvl39 and dont forget each 10 lvl that amount increase a lot.

shatereng strengh should be only 1 might per shater (not per illusion) and 20s instead 10s. (less burst more sustain damage)

i play mesmer for sometime and even withou any might i could kill people easy because basically they never dodge ilussionary leap or never use something to avoid the combo burst.

arenanet could remove all might, could remove shatter exploit that people would still complain because if you dont avoid the combo burst you will die.

i dont use that exploit, as far i know need to have mirror image utility so is a big no for me still i kill lot of people on hot join.

let be serious most of guys on hot join are low lvl they dont know much about other classes so they die easy but obvious that exploit need to be fixed and would love see shattereng strengh change.

i fight against lot of mesmer (hot join is full of them now) and 80% of them dont even know what they are doing and i kill them easy.

find the right mesmer is a joke for any player that actually play mesmer: call target him; is the only mesmer that move, that have might stack . jesus when i see people get confused by clones i can only think they never play a mesmer.

would love see how many mesmer players complain about how is hard to track the real mesmer-.-

uhh, possante i think a mesmer with staff vs thief shortbow that mesmer will win. chaos armor, chaos storm, block gg? and ifu have chaos armor u’ll miss attacks and the illusions/phantasm hitting you too. i tried it and a thief will lose.
and btw, jumper i don’t think actually a thief got the right to complain about mesmer, cus you can 1 shot like he does and even faster probaly, ur using 1 then f1 but if u do cnd f1 1 u take like from 100 to 0 ? and do it with haste and ur making a new world record.
and narcsasis or something is saying hes an expert in dodging thief. but i doubt it tbh, what can u do if ur being zerged by a thief with haste? i don’t think u’ll survive him.

and instead of attacking like that, i would make adventage of the place where u was fighting. u fought at henge, u can just use shortbow, cluster and 4 and go LoS and auto attack the illusion, wihc will bounce to the real one. and u can’t expect a glass vs glass to not die instant.
tip : use haste and do the cnd rotation and try to kill people, and see if they complain about thieves

if you are a shatter mesmer you condition damage is low, the thief with skill 1 and 2 will destroy all your illusion in seconds (clones arent a problem at range) and even with chaos armour he can keep auto atack you because your condition damage is low and him with auto atack is doing to you more damage than you with condition damage.

staff auto atack is more a melee weapon than a range weapon and in a shatter mesmer is pure defensive weapon with low damage, he just need kill the warlock.

this was the reason why i change staff for GS, fight thief that only want backstab me i could kill them easy ( just like in the video) but if the thief was good and actually know how to use shortbow when i change to staff i was pretty much dead, they leap backward destroy all my illusion easy and spamm auto atack and i was unable to do any damage.

Haste + 5 Heartseekers = ~30k instant damage

im a mesmer and have no problem saying haste is just stupid on this game. is even more stupid when you look to the profession that have more easy acess to haste are most the ones with already high speed atack rate.

haste should be removed fromt this game period.

HS is anotehr silly thing, np with the damage but with the insane range, 450 is to much for something with such low initiative cost and good damage.

im gonna say what happen : you play bad because you try atack on melee a mesmer with already 2 clones up, if you are a canon glass thief you cant do that you will die in seconds.

this wasnt a OP mesmer issue, was just a very bad move by the thief.

i dont know the lvl of the thief in video but this mistake is common on low lvl thief. rwally nothing important see here, you play bad period.

Really? So melee should not approach mesmer who has two clones up? Wow, what a great game design you have in mind. Do you understand how easy it is for mesmer to get two clones up? And then it is game over for melee?

No it is not ‘bad move by the thief’ it is ‘severely OP mesmer class’ if it is true (and currently it is) that melee player should not approach mesmer who has 2-3 clones up already and sitting among them because mesmer can just instantly ‘blow him up’.

yes and i will say again. use your shortbow, that weapon isnt just for run away when you are almost dead.

mesmer can create clones easy, you with your shortbow can kill all with just one shot.

please explain me how easy is to have 2 clones always up, he will spend all dodge? he need have mirror images? ( and that mean or he dont have blink or null field wich will make him a easy kill) ne need have a target to create phantasm?

if he is using staff is a easy kill for a thief just use your shortbow, shatter mesmer with staff do almost 0 damage with staff

if you are a thief use trick shot and cluster bomb to destroy clones , if you dont use it to destroy clones you are basically a rookie thief
