Although useful info listing the classes individually in a comment about balance will always miss the point a little bit. It’s also how they combine with others as well – for example the ridiculous amount of death shroud Nos’s reaper got from the two Abjured Revenants. The high number of DragonHunters is more a reflection of it being an easy one to play.

I would agree though that Chronomancer was disastrous, two of the best mesmers in game and both were almost totally ineffective. It’s still early days, but doesn’t look promising.

Thief is weaker, but certainly wasn’t useless and it used to be the most meta class of all, so I’m not sad to see it become an option rather than a requirement.

Warrior was pretty disastrous, but then at least two of those were shoutbows which I would expect to be outdated. May need a bit more time to see what happens, still remember the last time people claimed Warrior was useless and then we saw thes likes of Shoutbow appear :p

Dude, oRNG left their points unwatched all the time. They zerg around fighting +1 +2.

The rule is if you +1 for more than 15s and still can’t kill, gotta leave and check the points. That’s basic rotation for any semi-competitive team. They got lost in the zerg fights.

No wonder NA scene outside Abjured is so bad when this is the knowledge being displayed. Totally clueless.

The /say behaviour should be unacceptable. No idea what the ele was complaining about either to spark it off, he was 1v1 against a necro, was always going to get +1ed given how op ele is in those situations.

The caster comments on Ranger were totally fair though. Is he supposed to pretend Ranger is balanced? That would be dishonest and not doing his job. He did not disrespect the ranger player in any way, complimented his game play even.

The worst BMers are usually terrible players, often with a deluded sense of their own mmr. Like the engi who rushes far and gets ganked in >30 seconds, then blames the team because he was 1v2, or the fresh air ele who can’t kite for **** and blames team for his constant downstate.

Ideally it would work like this, at least as a preference system when matching players, but too small a player pool unfortunately. Amused by the first couple of replies to this thread – clearly trolls who would find themselves with nobody to play with.

Good suggestion, TLDR is that blocking should also prevent whispering afterwards.

Some of the comments go away beyond “you are bad” trash talk into stuff that in some countries like the UK would be grounds for police action. Surprising Anet is so far behind most companies (at least in the last couple of years) when it comes to actually taking action on verbal abuse, there’s a report button but nothing seems to happen with it. I guess no resource behind it, like a lot of other things.

Tempted to take screenshots next time and send them to some gaming websites, could generate a good amount of publicity as this has become an issue that is getting some pushback elsewhere. Nothing gets companies off their kitten quicker than bad pr.

There can’t have been a steady flow of enemies if you had time to cap both ferocities and not get decapped. Sure your team was salty, but sounds like they had to 4v5 a good amount of the match.

You can thank NA for that from getting Turrets to get streamed live. I actually had the goal of getting it nerfed by getting it streamed a few weeks ago on that Apex match.

Well I can’t wait for this change. Not because turrets are op in all situations, although they are against newer players / pugs, but because almost every game seems to have one and it leads to bad gameplay. Stronger players just 5v4 other two nodes or +1 them, newer players just feed them. Add to that 90% of BMing in losing games comes from turret engi, usually because they don’t understand anything about rotations.

Good news. Sure turrets aren’t in top tier competitive, however they are far too op in casual play where there is no voice comms and where you have newer players who don’t always know what to do. They’re an AI cancer that needs removing and the game will be far better for it.

Time for all those turret engis to learn how to play the game properly, rather than sit at one node and spam chat with flames.

I don’t agree with the direct comparison, as Svanir also effected chill which is arguably the strongest condi in the game. To have that plus some toughness and an invuln was too much, let alone that the invuln was bugged so you could do things like use a stunbreaker to end the frozen form and still be invulnerable for 5 seconds.

The vamp runes are only strong since the health steal fix, although admittedly the mistform plus that is very strong. It’s also usable on a number of classes and builds, so arguably no more imbalanced than strength runes, traveller, hoelbrek.

I’m not sure I would agree. Doorbreakers are really good on the door, but continually spawning archers into a big group can get real OP, especially as it then frees your players up to control rest of map. Doorbreakers need that clearing player or escort, although they are obviously by far quickest way to win if the opposing team doesn’t defend against them or lacks zerker defender.

Yeah have to say a bit disappointed, as my two biggest fears were present. One being that the mode is pretty snowball, in the games I played it was very difficult for the opposing team to come back as long as you had an active defence. Another problem is the amount of focus on killing mobs, with killing players being so far secondary. Technically you could win without killing a single player.

Other issue is Bodyguard too easy to nuke down when all he does is run, even with players covering. Maybe needs a bit more damage resistance or something until he actually reaches a gate. Although I suppose the flipside is that it almost forces the stacking of stealth on them.

I think as much as I’d like to say it’s people out to frustrate, with those quitters their overall game knowledge is so poor I suspect they just don’t know how the system works, and think a loss is the same regardless.

Going to have to disagree with this one. Judges and ring has always been a thing, and It’s always been strong, but only because of the meta with lack of stability. Increasing the cool down when this skill is already at 40 seconds will just hinder it. The cooldown is fine, and I know it aligns well with judges intervention c/d, but the ring is also used defensively to peel for team mates or for yourself. So you a choice of defensive or offensive ring. 50 seconds would be way too long.

Definitely agree with this.

I love Phanta but watching him play medi hammer, especially with the Abjured, the amount of damage pressure he gets put on him is small. At next WTS will see how vulnerable DPS guard can be if you’re just seeing JI and ROW as spiking every 40 seconds.

Rank on leaderboards means little, you can still have a mediocre mmr. Playing against premades doesn’t mean a lot, as they can still have a similar mmr to you. Add to that the low population means they have to match people together at some point, otherwise ques would be even longer.

Similar builds at competitive level? There are always meta builds in every pvp game, GW2 right now is a lot more diverse than most.

As for the extra content, sure only 1 map is not ideal, but building new maps is the easy part, it’s getting a mode that actually works which is the hard part and that’s what they’re doing first.

I would like to see TCG style comp but with a shoutbow in place of second ele. So thief/mesmer burst, 3 celestials of shoutbow (cleanses, pindown, damage pressure and ressing), d/d ele for close point 1v1s and rifle engi. That would be a pretty great comp imo. I don’t think you get enough damage if you consider Engi as competing with mesmer, and shoutbow would bring more useful utility than a second d/d ele.

That’s a nice balance between celestial and zerker. I don’t mind seeing a team run 3 celestial amulets, still a bit more fun than two pure cleric bunkers, which is the main alternative (i.e. 55hp).

The lack of comeback potential did concern me, increasing the timer could help there, make it a bit more attritional rather than one team snowballing the other, or sitting on a points lead.

Played against an EU team of Melank, Jun, and the Necro who is high ranked on foefire, crushed them like 500-100. Pretty mediocre players.

You can spot the esports people as they’re like 70%+ win rate even when playing solo. Sad that there is nothing to recognise or reward such good play, even when having to carry us regular noobs.

Eh they specifically said in the twitch stream they didn’t want a super weapon, and there’s nothing on the map which is really that.

Grouch did say he used a troll stealth build, but tbh that could be countered by dominating supply camp, a defensive spotter or trebbing. I also don’t mind seeing build and tactical variety, that’s something lacking in conquest tbh.

Well they did want some simple roles for players new to pvp, I think that’s a pretty smart move tbh. As for turrets/spirits – there is still a treb and which can hit the supply depot to help clear them out.

Thief daily is why I quit ranked… absolutely painful playing alongside people who have it as an alt and don’t know how to pvp with it. It’s worse than 4v5 as they give rallies and kill points constantly while achieving nothing.

As pointed out above, general activity is much higher than before, why on earth would they revert? Sure there are improvements to be made, but this new system has only been in place for a few weeks, hardly shocking that it’s not perfect yet.

I would keep it simple to damage done, healing done, kills, deaths, conditions removed and applied. Problem with giving recognition for capture points and stomps is you will get people double capping, double stomping etc..

Yeah pushing far to die is not good. Just had argument with someone in my last game who was boasting that as they were keeping two people occupied for a few seconds before dying it was good play, totally ignorant that they didn’t even get decap and both enemies could push our mid quickly and outnumber us.

Saying that, sometimes you do get random baddies trash talking the team without a clue, just looked up one after a game (which we won anyway) and saw they were like 20 wins, 45 losses, 12 points overall, so pretty much vegetable level.

Sure the leaderboard isn’t a reflection of best players, just most active. However I think in terms of encouraging activity there is a lot of value in it and it’s definitely for me as a pretty casual player improved the game a lot.

The matchmaking could certainly use fixing, particularly for the top level, so good teams play each other and not pugs. Can’t argue with that and hope it’s a priority. Perhaps also a second leaderboard for MMR but with no rewards, so people can see where they roughly stack up in terms of competitiveness without having to go esports.

Not sure I agree kitten man premades vary in quality, it is something that should have a weighting in the MMR and perhaps after a certain point not be possible, but I don’t think it would be good for activity to limit this entirely.

Yeah tried Doiid’s build today and it was good, certainly in this meta it works well. Surprises people as well, as they expect a shatter mesmer to die easily if on point. Sure the damage does lack compared to zerker shatter, and in different meta or if teams are prepared for it then would not be as effective, but very good solo build.

Not as much pressure in team fights but I disagree about no pressure, still have decent damage once the might goes up, also the chaos storm, null field, GS5 and Moa are still very strong in team fights if you time them correctly.
