So I was wandering through Orr a couple of days ago doing temple events and champs, and on my way to the Cathedral of Silence I passed though Penitent camp. The camp defence event was underway, a good few players were there so I got involved and started tagging and killing the waves of mobs. Anyway we saved Penitent from the risen, and scored a good amount of champ chests and loot bags, but during the event we were attacked by a wave of risen chickens. Hidden amongst the gaggle(?) of chickens was a champion risen chicken, it managed to down a couple of players before we spotted it and dispatched it.
So it got me wondering, what was the origin of this champion risen chicken?
Was it born as a champion? Did the Visiers and Princes of old Orr breed and farm champion chickens and feast upon champion chicken burgers garnished with champion lettuce and champion mayonnaise, served in a lightly toasted champion bun?
Did the chicken start life as a normal chicken, was turned risen and then ascended to the rank of champion by committing ghastly deeds and completing heinous tasks in the service of Zhaitan?
Maybe the answer to this question is a little more mundane, perhaps in one of the secret inquest bases in Orr some brilliantly mad Asura has invented some kind of chicken championator device?
Where do champion risen chickens come from? There has to be an answer.

Working on another topic and I admit I don’t know what the main encouragement for people to WvW is. I like it because its fun and fighting peeps is more interesting then NPCs and its something to win at the end of the week. So factors that add on top of that might be WvW rank, karma, bags aka loot, crafting mats, xp. So what else for everyone and how would you rank them?
To me it’s ranked : Fights, Objectives, WvW rank, bags, weekly ranking, mats, karma.
Good hunting!
It’s bumping into “that guy” while roaming and beating him.
Over the point that this trait made our Condition builds OP and viable meta, my only complain is that, while Guardians have blue flames for their own burning, we don’t have GREEN flames.
GREEN FLAME!
Yes, green flames please.
What I don’t like about DS is looking at the empty heal, utility and elite skill slots.
We should also have two sets of weapon skill bars to swap between, maybe a power set and a condition set? The skills we have now are no where near good enough considering it’s our class mechanic.
“press this button to loose a set of weapon skills, a heal, all utilities and an elite skill”
Anyone know what colours are used by the nightmare court, with respect to glow, skin and armour ?
Cheers.
Cheers for sorting out the T3 light armour, I’m Pretty again.
The necro masks look great on Sylvari, Asura and Charr, if that helps.
These wsr/vabbi/whoever threads used to be civil, friendly and funny.
Necs freaking out about this is just hilarious to me. You do realize there’s some white numbers on your skills where your real damage is, or would be if you built for it? And these are Eles we’re talking about… even one or two of your limp-wristed Marks or Scepter autos’ll bring them under 90.
Limp-wristed ? Hey this staff is heavy you know.
Thank you Kristen, I only have one character and this was a game breaker for me, especially after spending so much on the new dyes. I could have sworn that the armour glow was linked to the skin glow because I used a makeover kit to reduce it on the T2 light. Anyway, cheers.
Yeah I’ve noticed this too.
Is there any way to turn off the glow ?
I have the same problem with the T3 light, the dye pattern has changed, the armour glows even though I have the glow turned off and the colours look washed out. Some detail has also been lost, especially noticeable in the leg section.
Before and after screens :
(edited by sheelzi.5803)
Here’s a before and after screen, why did they do this ?
Yeah mine does too, even though I have the glow turned off. The leaves on the legs of the Sylvari female T3 armour seem to have also lost a lot of detail.

I would like to see it swapped for one of the adept traits or have an option to disable it completely. Of all the illogical and pointless stuff we have in out trait lines this is the one I hate the most. (I’m a condimancer btw.)
Chat suppression needs looking at, it can be frustrating having to whisper someone to use map chat for you.
What a great first night, lots of small scale fights for camps, plenty of roamers and an epic battle in FoW keep. Cheers all.
1. Outnumbered buff
2. Commander tools/utilities
3. That awful PvP map in the middle of our borderlands.
Looks like you might have it this week Vabs. Well payed my old mates.
Does reanimator count ? If so then I’m a minion master.
I like to use it in www against ram and siege groups at gates, or when defending the tower/keep lord and at holes in walls. Combined with a well or a few marks it can make things tricky for the enemy. Bhawb’s right about it needing a little buff, maybe a stack of vulnerability per tick and/or damaging to structures to make it “corrosive” lol.
I am curious about this, I am currently going down blood magic, pretty new to game but really like it so far. I’m D/D atm. Anyone have any tips or build ideas? Anything would help.
Have a try using warhorn for you offhand, see what you think.
Solution to condition cap is simple. Every time it gets to 25 stacks, an upgraded condition is transformed from the previous stack of conditions (i.e 1 stack of “deep wound” is equivalent to 25 stacks of bleeding with the damage as the entire 25 stacks of bleeding). They could technically do this unlimited amount of time and in addition it would still be balanced in PvP.
I like this idea.
Condition builds aren’t just about bleed stacking. Poison, fear, weakness, blindness, chill and confusion can turn the tide of many battles in WWW.
Some great battles in Stonemist last night, a big thankyou to everyone involved, that was the most fun I’ve had in WWW for a long time.
Being able to summon Risen would be cool idea, a smaller version of the Abomination would make a good golem, and the other risen have very similar abilities to the standard necro minions. As a Sylvari necro I would like to see some vegetation themed skins.
As for creepy dolls, inspiration could be taken from the Silent Hill mannequin spider and nurses.
I use a build similar to this for running in a group and it’s very effective. For solo roaming I’ve found that a power build is better and just nuke enemies with Lich and shroud.

The new ascended stuff looks kind of mesmery and unwieldy in my opinion, especially the scepter. I like Final Rest because the casting animation matches the gargoyle wing perfectly. My other favorites are my Sclerite dagger what looks like it drips corruption and the eye blinking animation is really cool. As for scepter skins you won’t do any better than the Pact Scepter.

This thread is sooo quiet.
Arborstone still got quite decent numbers it seems, hard to move in EB without being zerged

Great video and tune, that hammer looks like a lot of fun.
A brilliant week in T9, thank you to everyone who played. The fights for SM on Wednesday and Thursday night were the best, cheers to you all.
I’m a pretty dedicated WvW player, and recently I’ve been seeing a massive surge of condition based characters running around. It’s namely necro/engie and they’re near impossible to kill 1v1, or even Xv1 in some cases. This is just like the broken warrior stun chain nonsense; it can be “countered”, but realistically nobody can counter as much as the spam can be inflicted.
The way that condition classes can inflict massive amounts of conditions that put out ridiculously high damage and still be relatively tanky due to their gear and build (carrion/rabid) is flat out overpowered; i can see how anet intended it to work but at this point the mechanic is broken. You can read up on the various other issues this current meta is causing on the PvP subforums to get a good idea from people who know what they’re talking about.
This isn’t a matter of “l2p” (the classic sign of someone defending something that’s broken and they play it) because there’s nothing that counters this at all. Lemongrass? Expensive and countered by Pizza. Lyssa/Melandru Runes? Pigeonhole you into being too specifically anti-condition while not being powerful enough to be worth it. Cleansing? Hardly anything can cleanse as fast as the conditions are re-inflicted.
The fact that your character needs to be defined specifically to one role be even slightly effective against the condition meta is enough to know this needs to be altered.
Necro/engie/ranger meta builds need some serious looking at and conditions need to be fixed (necro ESPECIALLY). Simple as that.
And to boot my character isn’t even a glass cannon. 18k hp, decent toughness, full exotics etc.
Quests are nice.
So from the dev livestream just now, it seems there will be a new stat grouping of Dire:
Dire Stat Combo (Condition Damage, Toughness, Vitality)
Sounds pretty tempting for Necro no?
Coupled with the new scavenger runes it might make for an interesting new build
Hitting your target first with chill/cripple will often get them to blow their condition removal leaving them wide open for a bleed spike. This is especially effective in WWW.
When I first started playing WvWvW I was surprised by the amount of players who didn’t bring sufficient condition removal, now I just take it for granted.
I just wanted to ask a quick question to the people that are still in WSR. Are the PvEers still trash talking about how bad WSR is in WvW? Because it was funny to argue with people that had never really entered WvW. “Our server is so bad in WvW”… when the server’s WvW population is actually tiny and we got matched up against servers tiers higher.
Anyway, GL with winning FoW. Maybe you’ll finally get out of t9 for a week.
Things have settled down in LA now, I think the PVEers were upset because its not gonna be so easy for them to get world completion achievement now. :p
Oh, and there was a bit of drama in EB last night when someone mentioned raidcall. I guess some things never change.
this sounds like one of the rare cases where players moving to a higher rank server actually helps the game.
Vabbi and FoW need a third server of similar strength to play against, that they actually have a chance of winning against. if people leaving helps to make WSR that third server, it will make EU tier 9 a better place.

I agree, and xXBLAKESXx post is not a true reflection of the attitude or spirit of the remaining WSR fighters.
The more even numbers are making every fight seem epic lol. Looking forward to more of the same tomorrow night.
Well played tonight FoW chaps.
So who is the person in charge of overseeing the necromancer forums? And how do we get ahold of said person?
lol
Sublime.
Something to listen to while browsing the necro forum …
enjoy.
1. Introduce Dhuumfire.
2. It’s OP, so nerf terror.
3. It’s still OP, so nerf Deathshroud.
4. Hmm it’s still a bit OP, let’s nerf Dhuumfire.
5. ?
Nuke them with lich form, or as Pelopidas mentioned use corrupt boon and if you time it right you can just stand back and watch them die a horrible conditions death.
I haven’t been able to get this to work during my session of WvWvW tonight. Is anyone else having difficulty with this ?
I’d like to say cheers to you also, your necro videos have been very informative.
Behold, a true abomination!
Definitely the necroiest so far.
Lots of Sylvari here. :p

I tried to set up a communal boost bonfire for my group to improve their magic find chance, but because I already had the boost from another item it wouldn’t let me activate it for them.
Maybe if the timers for the low level bosses like the maw, worm and behemoth were set to coincide it might decrease the chances of these events being zerged.
And more level 80 areas and/or events please.
