Epidemic: kicked for not playing heavy

It does not unless your team is glassy to the point it cant take severe hit for to long or want to kill stuff by stacking. People when you stack you are theoricaly ’’facetanking’’ the targets weither you want to admit it or not and are somewhat exposed to blows you wouldnt take if you were actualy moving around. Players are supose to keep moving around to avoid hit while landing as many blow as possible but stacking actualy defy this very principe and makes for a dumber game because of it. Well i think at this point they should make all mob attack cleave in melee range.

Its stuff like this that makes me know that you really are good at talking out of your kitten .

When stacking a zerk group still dodges and uses active defenses. Its why they often stack against a wall or pillar, that way they don’t actually move when dodging. They make full use of those evade frames. They also make use of protection and aegis, in addition to blinds and other skills to mitigate or remove the hits entirely. Running around chaotically might sounds “fun” for some, but its more likely to cause unintended consequences (like moving the enemy out of a powerful rooted attack like hundred blades and the like, or aoes).

Many mobs already cleave in melee range, or use aoe spray type effects. In the stack with proper skill uses the effects of the enemy are negated. When used incorrectly, the entire stack will die in 2 seconds (sometimes less). The people that don’t realize this are leaches that stands in the stack but still benefit from the blinds/aegis/prots/interupts that the group is using.

The fact that you think that Anet actually wants people to play in only one way (moving around and not stacking, using “skill” to kite and tank or whatever your scrub definition of the proper not cheap way of winning is) and force changes to make your way of playing the only way means you are worse than the people who prefer to speed run/stack/Los who have no problem with letting the casual dungeon goer play in his own groups.

As for the other players who complain about getting kicked: You aren’t entitle to be able to join a group. There is no forced association in this game, people are free to leave and kick as they desire. Drop your entitled anti exclusionary millennial attitudes behind. If somebody doesn’t want you, don’t take it as a personal affront and justification to tattle to anet like a spoiled brat on the playground who was odd man out in making teams. Make your own groups and play by your own rules. If you continue to have problems getting into groups, check yourself. If you are running a crap build you need to change it. If you end up on the floor and get kicked, L2Play. If you are running a class that has no demand in the instance you are wanting to run, switch characters to one that is in demand. If you don’t want to change your build/class/playstyle to play with the “cool kids”, find your own group: be the group that has fun their own way, and not like the loser table that spends more time complaining about other people having fun.

Alright man. Thanks for calling it. It’s folks like Kyubi who get the kick.

I don’t usually mind taking someone who’s learning the path. Learning. Not making assumptions to justify running scrub gear and a scrub build. If you don’t know, it’s fine. Folks are there to help and mentor.

If you’re like Kyubi and #yolomode no-dodge encounters, you’re a bad player.

Almost every one of these claims about the dungeons are made regarding AC 1. Why? Because most of these trash players never make it outside AC 1.

Stacking is just the logical thing to do. What happens when it goes away? People like Kyubi stand no chance. No chance. Why? Because they don’t know how to play yet.

What happens to these ‘exploiters’ you hate so much? Nothing. Their times decrease a little bit because they have to dodge triangles around the boss and lose some DPS up-time.

Mobs already cleave in melee range :P ….that’s what Aegis is for. Not for when you feel scared but to mitigate damage on your team.

That’s all for today’s class.

OP actually has a good idea. Not so quick to condemn it! Neither Lupi nor the Flame Shaman are long fights. The OP’s idea could make them longer and more interesting though. Even in optimal runs, it would be nice to see some diversity.

I really like that idea of maintaining a certain condi or debuff on a certain enemy to maintain an X % dmg bonus. This could make for some very fun building.

Warrior has been OP in PVE for a very long time, and it still is.

It really wasn’t. It was recommended because every 5 man group needed banners, PS, or EA. That said, only 1 warrior per 5 man group was taken. At the very most 2 warriors would be in a single group.

Thinking back to "xpac worth of content"

Some of which were even sold for real money.

And technically all of them were in GW1 seeing as you had to pay for the expansion

Your shield arm must be getting tired. Your defence for them is getting weaker.

Thanks for that. This had me laughing for a bit. Very nice.

Not even remotely expansion level though. EoTN had a lot of story to it. It was engaging. I actually cared about the happenings. I couldn’t care less about Scarlet and whatever nonsense she is doing. Sure, they are pumping more story into it now but it’s too late for that.

The content is mediocre at best and its backed by ‘popup’ exposition. Characters and stories are introduced as needed. They don’t feel natural. They’re just sort of forced in there. Like when a friend who is horrible at telling stories has to keep saying, “Oh yeah I forgot to also mention X,Y,Z happened.”

With an expansion I would hope they can sit down and actually do it right by GW2. It was done well in EoTN…just do it that way.

Dungeons too difficult for lows and newbies!

Saint.5647

Look Queen, I’m not gonna trade quotes and take up the whole thread haha. Basically, I’m not gonna argue it. I don’t think we are going to see eye to eye on this.

I’ll say this; AC would have been better to be the 2nd or 3rd dungeon. Difficulty wise, assuming you are totally new, it makes more sense.

The only points I’ll really make are that you can learn the dungeon as you play. That is what the trial and error option is. If you are new, you may expect it to take some time. Slow down, take your time, observe the traps, observer the mob patterns. It is not that hard even for a new player.

And regarding the traps tearing up PuGs, what doesn’t tear up PuGs? Generally PuGs are very bad baddies. Of course they would yolo through the traps and go, “Omg y i die so fAsT!?” If you are new, take your time and learn the encounter.

If they add more to it, I would rather it be in the form of new paths (and not taking out old ones). I like the dungeon paths are they are now. I assume you are a very casual player (in that you don’t really emphasize skill balance and efficiency). Please understand that adding random jumping and pointless encounters would be an affront to the speed clear community. Believe it or not, we actually have fun doing the dungeons and we don’t want to fight every mob. I think the enemies are just the right difficulty but again…if they were easier, it would make it even easier to do what we do.

I’m not sure the ‘casuals’, if I can call them that, would be ok with it. Correct me if I’m wrong, but the attitude I tend to get from these folks is one of : I am mad because I am not doing this as efficiently therefore you should be slowed down to my pace. Any nerf Anet brings to the dungeon to try to level the field will not succeed in creating one uniform clear time. Clearers are generally much more skilled players and will of course do better in the content. They are generally the players that know their class, their skills, and how to use them. PuGs will QQ about hard enemies that take too much damage while staff camping in full PVT or Cleric (based on the people I’ve met).

Right. No one but the most up-tight group will kick a PuG who is using the right setup to benefit their team. No one will kick an Engi if they’re stacking might and vuln…even if it isn’t really needed. A PuG is a PuG. At least they’re trying to contribute in a meaningful way.

The kick comes with yolomode leeroy dying 5 times during Mai Trin. The kick comes with being told to stop camping LB at range and then doing so at melee. The kick comes with spamming well after well. The kick comes with running full signet Ele with HoB.

Saint.5647

Nooo! You must have misspelled Asura. PW is too legit on Asura Thief. I have derailed thread enough though :P

Don’t think Ele will be irrelevant after the FGS #4 is changed. It will still be a high source of DPS, Group Might/Fury, and Vuln.

The Phalanx setup seems like it could have some strong applications in longer encounters, although some group DPS numbers would be nice to see for comparison. I can’t see it being useful everywhere though. Some things die fast enough that a Might sustain is unnecessary. Some things do outlive an initial might stack and complications can make re-stacking fall through. Those sorts of situations could benefit from a Phalanx setup. The trait swap in the patch makes this entirely hassle free.

So really it’s just about picking and choosing when it’s useful. Not really any different than before except now it’s hassle free.

The LFG tool is in no way optimal. Maybe, maybe you can find a skilled meta player on there. More often than not, you will find quasi meta ‘mimic’ players who lack a true understanding of the mechanics they are copy/pasting from a speed clear video. They are selfishly traited to stay alive and often still lack the skill to rotate their DPS and survive an encounter. I’ve found that these poor players are often the loudest and angriest. While I dislike a low DPS comp. as much as the next guy, if you play with a PuG, expect low DPS and expect to carry or solo a few encounters.

Players who do care about their times and optimal setups do not use the LFG tool.

What’s more funny is I got kicked from a fractal 49 once by a guardian wearing full celestial and running 0/0/30/30/10 while I was on my zerk (with a bit of valk) guardian. He called me useless and threw a hissy fit when I responded saying his damage is pitiful. He said he’s contributing way more than me by healing us with his f2 and staff 4. After I got kicked I joined a zerk run and got a fractal skin.

The only way he could have been more awesome would have been if he also spammed staff 3 to disrupt every possible fire field blast.

Different Warrior build

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Saint.5647

Saint.5647

Well, the question to be asked here is ‘Why?’ Needs some sort of context. Is this for WvW zerging, WvW roaming, PvE, PvP?

If PvE, why Valk? You dropped the Precision for Vitality, but then you wasted a trait on Deep Strike and filled your bar with Signets (offering nothing to your team at all). So either you do care about Precision and you are just anti-Zerk because ‘reasons’ or you are not sure what you’re trying to accomplish.

You’re also wasting a trait on Defy Pain. Since you got Valk armor, I assume you want the Vitality to stay alive. Yet, you’re bringing a Grandmaster that activates when you are at 25% health and offers nothing to your team. The 25 for Armored Attack also seems useless to me.. You have no Toughness gear. It’s a waste of a trait use for so little extra power and offers nothing to your team.

You could be much more useful putting that 10 into Strength and getting Berserker’s Power.

Sometimes it is best to take into account the opinions of others. If that many people are saying it’s a bad build, perhaps you should take a second look at it. Not everyone is tactful about it but they do have a point. There are aspects of this that don’t work well together (and I don’t main Warrior). The prominent folks on the Warrior sub might be worth listening to instead of just moving to another sub and trying to get support for a mediocre build.

Always dead

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Saint.5647

Saint.5647

…on my lv37 Ele. I have 2.2K hp, we come to the lovers fight, and in the first 2 seconds I’m not only downed but interrupted repeatedly and dead. Why? Because whirlwind knockback ….

So, your HP won’t really have much bearing on your survivability in PvE. As an Ele, you will bring a whole lot of DPS to the table but you do need to be more mindful of your surroundings that other classes with more passive defenses.

Three things to keep in mind:

1. Leveling can kind of suck sometimes. Being level 37, you don’t have all your skills, utilities, and elites unlocked. This can be tough.

2. Please do change utilities often (as the situation dictates). It isn’t a bad idea to keep Arcane Shield on your skill bar often. Perhaps in your case, Armor of Earth for the stability. You can also run S/F, still be able to stack all the might you need, and be able to lean on Obsidian Flesh to negate some of those big hits.

3. Depending on your build, vigor may not come easy. Eles do tend to get targeted often by bosses. Make sure you start picking up on the subtle ‘tells’ enemies have before an attack. Everything (I’m quite sure) in PvE has some sort of ‘tell’ or ‘windup’ that can help you anticipate an attack.

…not be forced into speccing full toughness/vitality. I made dps roles because that’s what I enjoy doing. I do not want to tank or heal yet I am expected to do so just to survive more than one hit from anything in any dungeon.

It’s good that you are interested in playing a DPS role right off the bat. It’s currently the way to PvE content in GW2. Aside from that, it is (imo) much more enjoyable to see large numbers and see the positive contribution YOU make to the team. You will however go down quite easily if you don’t stay on your toes. The Ele isn’t a class for someone isn’t willing or able to react quickly.

Edit: Oh haha…and good luck :P

Epilogue: That's it? (spoilers, obv)

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Well, it seems this is one thing the community is generally in agreement about. LS season 1 could have been much better. I believe the mystery and ambiguity were a result of Anet not really knowing where they wanted this story to go. It’s clear from Braham’s, “It doesn’t matter now” that they didn’t have any solutions to tie it all together.

What’s done is done though. Looking at some of the features coming up it does look like Anet is listening to the community. I recognize a lot of the QoL changes as things that I’ve read many times on the forums.

Regarding the mediocre LS season 1, I think that they just wrapped it up and shelved it. That’s not necessarily too bad a thing right now. Perhaps they were just as ready to put it behind them as we are.

The Uncategorized Fractal is Rata Sum

Curious though that the cat golems are there. There is another cat golem I know of.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/TOM-9

He is located in the Proxemics lab. It gets interesting because this lab used to run experiments on Skritt. Now long abandoned, the Skritt live there.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Proxemics_Lab_

Now this could be a coincidence but the two could be linked. Tom-9…Old Tom…The four cat Golems with the Raving Asura. I could see it being sort of a humorous little add in to the game to have Cat-Golems guarding rat creatures.

We know the lab is long abandoned so the time frame is already established. We know it happened in the past which could tie it to this fractal.

Is it likely? Nah haha…but maybe a small nod could be cool.

My two cents on fractals as a medium for story: They should be short stories. Nothing connecting. Nothing wide and sweeping. Little stories that can be semi solved with lore hunting but no grand tales there. It makes it more interesting to have these doomed sections of history where you will never quite know EVERYTHING. But a small measure of closure is nice.

Different Warrior build

in Players Helping Players

Saint.5647

Fair enough. So basically, what I said in the first reply still holds true. The points you’re putting into Defense just are not worth it. You’re not really gaining anything from Armored Attack and Defy Pain. As I’ve said before, Deep Strike is a waste. You are wasting your utilities to make up for the precision loss (which you are not making up for).

If you are set on not playing a DPS roaming setup, then at least get rid of this nonsensical trait. Critical Burst is also useless to you since you are relying on Adrenal Health for your healing values to be consistently higher. You would do well to trait into Power for Berserker’s Power. That way, saving your adrenaline will net you higher damage modifiers and higher healing. I would also drop Last Stand and instead opt for 20% longer stance duration with Sure Footed. Your stances will accomplish what this Trait does and they are at your disposal. Instead of a useless ‘panic button’ Trait, you can have longer stances that you can actually learn, control, and use.

You could put that last 10 into Discipline. For that (10) Major you have a few decent options within the parameters of the setup you’re running.
A) Vigorous Focus is a good bet for you. You will increase your survivability more with Vigor than with any passive trait you can add. You are way more ‘hearty’ by dodging attacks than you are with ‘Defy Pain Trait’. The stances are generally great Warrior skills that benefit you as a solo player and will accomplish the goal of raising your survivability. Not only do you get the benefits of the stance and the stun breakers, but you will also get Vigor.
B) Inspiring Shouts can also be something you swap to if you are going to be using more shouts. You will likely want On Your Mark equipped if you are fighting bosses alone since you do not have the extra Vuln that the mace OH would provide.
C) Warrior’s Sprint is just a good mobility option. Point A to point B

You do of course have way, way more options. I am assuming you are keeping the LB for CC. Anyways, swapping to GS would open up some more viable options to you within the parameters of your chosen build.

Again, you would do well to look for some advice from prominent Warrior players. I don’t just mean any schmo from the Warrior sub; I mean the trusted names in the community. There are many scrubs that think they know what they’re doing because they can PuG CoF. Do seek out the folks who are actually good players and ask for help there. They know how the Warrior traits fit together better than I do; it isn’t a main class of mine.

Why does anet make us dps everything?

in Living World

Posted by: Saint.5647

Saint.5647

Although I do miss being able to play a healing class for pure support, I don’t mind so much that everything revolves around DPS. What I get tired of is having to use the same weapon skills ALL THE TIME. I would love for them to do a complete overhaul of the skill system one day, and make it more like it was with GW1. Adding several more weapon skills for each weapon and allowing us to interchange the first 5 skill slots the way we want to. I think that would make a world of difference to this game.

I agree. I enjoy playing DPS in GW2 mainly because it is the most effective option for all PvE content. That said, I do miss being a dedicated tank or healer from GW1. Some more flexible skills would be nice too (on weapons)…Perhaps a couple interchangeable skills but if you do recall, even GW1 wasn’t that flexible. Sure you had many, many skills but how many of these were used. Most were not in the meta and most were only useful in a particular niche.

Anyways, I do agree though. Would be nice to have a little more variety in the skills we take with us but there are way bigger fish to fry as far as improvements to the game imo.
