Well, it’s instanced so calling it an open world content might be rather misleading.

If deathly chill isnt nerfed and dire/trailblazer stats isnt changed it’s not a balance patch. It’s the single most OP condi trait and people are abusing the most bunker/max condi damage armor stats in the game with condi builds.

Yet nothing of this is mentioned.

WvW is truly kittened for balance.

Will we ever have anything resembling balance? Will Anet ever admit that WvW is not PvE?

yeah but condi necro uses +20% duration food which is getting nuked, and condi necro has a broad spread of condis. they’re seriously hurt by this change :x

Minions, I wouldn’t expect to see more of.

Things like Spirits, or maybe even Spirit Weapons, I wouldn’t mind seeing.

Definitely , I would love to have minions skins. Regarding having new minions , the only option would be through adding a new 2 handed weapon ( hammer ) that has 4 summoning skills.

Please don’t add a mandatory MM weapon, that’s a really bad idea.

I think the average player maybe gains 5-6 pips per tick atm and has to play 3 hr everyday to get through the chests. Thats way to much time for the low amount of tickets they contain…

The average player is rank 49, according to GW2E. The average player with 4000h+ playtime is 469.

The average player is earning 2-4 pips per tick.

IMHO make it so that you can’t have several stances active at one time, or so that stances cancel other stances when they’re active (except for the trait stances). Kinda doesn’t make sense that someone is simultaneously in a Balanced stance while also being in a Berserker stance?

I wouldn’t mind a kind of ‘guild registry’ which you can see when looking at the server list, and servers can select what their guild is interested in, be it RP, PvE, sPvP, wPvP, etc. Then, depending on the influence of the guild as a portion of the server as a whole’s influence, and their listed interests, a pie chart’s generated to give a representation of what you’re likely to be able to find on the server. You can then fish through the registry to find out which guilds are getting the most influence per week, where they’re earning that influence and what their interests and timezones are, and possibly find a guild that fits into what you want to do in the game.

This’d be useful for RPers, as a new player interested in RP would be able to go “oh, this server has a lot of RP guilds listed, maybe I should go there”. It’s also useful for anyone else trying to find a guild for a particular avenue of play, as they can just bring up the guild registry and go “okay, this guild gets a lot of influence from WvWvW and is in my timezone, I like WvWvW, maybe I should send them a message”. I think that’s one of the big blocks to implementing RP-friendly features; that the developer has a difficult time justifying making content for 5% of the playerbase without it also having some application for the rest of the playerbase.

Also, having 2-week cycles of temp content means they have something to sell you every 2 weeks, with the limited time sale feeling we all will have because we know the item is going away.

Doesn’t that marketing trick wear off? Surely people are getting acclimated to it and no longer caring what the flavor-of-the-fortnight gemstore item is.

Having a significant emphasis on one-time content is silly. Part of the reason WoW is so strong is because they’ve been rolling out persistent content over almost a decade, and they have the problem of the gear grind invalidating most of it. They’ve had a number of temporary events that I can count on one hand. GW2 doesn’t have the gear grind problem, but they decided to maim themselves for the race by arbitrarily declaring “all this stuff? gone in a month”.

MMOs are marathons, not sprints.

Speculation isn’t a bad thing. Poor evaluation mixed with speculation is a bad thing, but anything done with poor evaluation is bad. This is a virtual/luxury economy; people aren’t going to be starving in the streets if they can’t pay for their ascended gear, so the collateral damage of poor speculation isn’t really all that much.

How would you realistically enforce a moratorium on speculation? Keep in mind that Arenanet have limited resources and will likely be using code to handle their market laws, not real people.

You only need to look at what happened to wows sub numbers after they introduced needless grind behind gated content to know what’s in store for gw2 if this system persists in its current form.

…They went up significantly? TBC was the grindiest expansion and it experienced constant growth. Since Blizzard started adding heavy-duty catchup mechanics in late Wrath, the population growth begun to level off, and the more catchup mechanics they added, the lower sub numbers went.

I didn’t read through this thread, just skimmed through it, so I’m not sure if this was brought up here or another thread, I had a suggestion for that. Maybe guild hall upgrades can be scaled with however many members for the cost, and if the guild grows, the upgrades will be closed off and you’ll have to dump in more gold/materials before its accessesable again.

Seems like a very easy thing to exploit.

Just off the top of my head; assume the guild has the member cap of 500. Their costs are therefore massive. The GM organizes a second guild which will only ever have the smallest number of people in it (say, five). Guild members send money and resources to those five people, they build their guild hall for a fraction of the cost, and once it’s finished the entire guild transfers into the new, fully upgraded guild.

First, make sure you’ve completed Arah Story. It’s soloable nowadays as part of the Victory or Death! personal story mission.

Then you’ll want to go to your PvP panel. On the left pane of that window, you’ll see 5 options. You want to click on the chest- these are the reward tracks. You then want to activate the Ruined City of Arah reward track.

After that, just play as much PvP as you can. As you finish matches, the track will progress and you’ll get rewards along it.

It is WAY more fun to use a global cooldown than the current cooldown system. The cooldown system every other profession has encourages rotations which has to be the most brainless method of attack in existence.

It forces players to manage what they have available in real time where every attack makes every other attack less available. It forces players to fully commit rather than “LETS SEA WUT AHTACK IZ OF CULDOWN”.

necro skills should all consume life when you use them, unless they’re deathshroud skills, in which case they consume lifeforce. GONNA SPAM ME SOME REAPER’S MARK

1) Why not give WvW:ers something that lets them show off their ACTUAL rank range instead of just “I’m over 2k!”? Badge, Title, something displayable inWvW and non WvW areas..?

What precisely do you propose?
Titles? Nobody cares.
Account badge? Not many people care.
Armor is actually noticeable.
It’s not even unique armor. It’s a variant skin.

2) The average joe still needs to spend 750 HOURS doing WvW to be able to buy this armor set, just due to the TICKETS, so stop using the Rank requirement as some sort of “makes the shiny-hunters run away” argument. If you’re not already deterred by those hours you’re not going to be deterred by the rank requirement. 99 weeks of grinding if you want all the shinies.. Will you be rank 2000 by then?Probably, but that isn’t the point;

It’s actually more like 130 weeks worth of clearing Diamond box every week.

3) Rank requirement should go flying out the window since it’s an unfair “advantage”, which does not exist anywhere else in the game. It’s simply “rewarding past effort” and giving some people an unfair advantage over others. That’s why it’s bad. If it was a new rank, that everyone had to get, it would be fine (like the tickets), but it’s not.

Magic Find, Gold Find, Karma Find, XP Find from daily AP are literally rewarding past effort. Opening your monthly +goldfind bonus is rewarding past effort. Having salvaged a lot of equipment and pushed up your magic find is rewarding past effort. Home instance nodes are investments & rewarding past effort.

4) Vets are already rewarded by extra pips.. Again, where in the game did something else get added in that rewarded past effort this much? Nowhere.

AP grinders got massive benefits out of LS1, earning elements that can never be earnt again. You can at least grind up WvW levels to try to catch up. You cannot catch up with an LS1 player who got all achievements.

I don’t think Dragon’s Tooth needs to drop more quickly. It’s a very powerful effect, and powerful effects should have delays which give the target an opportunity to get out of them.

Shatterstone could use a fiddle somewhere, but I’m not sure where. I don’t know if making it a Blast Finisher will actually be either good or meaningful. In spvp and the like, it might not really do very much, but in wvw, it’d be huge. Personally, I think that Water needs some fiddling to make it into a worthwhile damage option.

Arc Lightning damage buff could be nice. It completely locks you out of other skills while it’s firing, and it takes something like 4 seconds to fully wind up… It just doesn’t fit into the game. A skill like this can work but the reward for letting it charge is nowhere near what it needs to be I don’t think.

On fury in Water, I dunno. Personally I reckon something that plays off Chill would be cool.

Having the alt color set opened up for means other than the trib mode seems gross to me. I hate trib mode, but I wouldn’t want the rewards from some other method; frankly, I’d feel patronized if they say “that’s alright Sarrs you can just do this pvp track to get them”.

The base blue set, maybe. A completely separate color set, maybe. Green/Yellow/Orange? Nty.

This is wrong. Damage absorption is, pound for pound, better than healing. Drastically more useful.

Explain this one.

A character has 12k HP. They are hit by a 15k hit.

If you place a 5k barrier on them beforehand, they survive with 3k.
If you try to heal them afterwards for 5k, it doesn’t work because they are dead.

Pulsing Resistance makes the trait work with boonstrip so that sounds great for counterplay. There are good reasons to push the rate/duration up or to keep it as it is, as well; longer pulse means it’ll last longer once the Ele passes the threshold but boonstrip is stronger, etc.

Really I think the best fix is to make it so that instead of progressing automatically you need to get those yaks to the towers.

For example, to get from T0 to T1, you need to get 6 yaks to the tower. Time doesn’t matter.

I’m gonna attack some of the points Jon raised earlier.

  • We need to discuss how the building system would incorporate old upgrades but also provide new ones.

To get a good idea of this, I want to run down some of the upgrade types which we have available. We have:
Level-up upgrades: These are the ones that you get which boost your level. Architecture 1, architecture 2, architecture 3, etc.. What I was thinking here with my initial suggestion is that the level of this upgrade dictates the size and grandeur of a core building which the other upgrades are either attachments to, or which exist within the building in some way.
Functionality upgrades: These ones add functionality to the guild. There are the politics ones, which give you a flag and weapon/armor contracts, there’s the guild bank and workshop in Architecture, and I would probably argue that the guild mission unlocking upgrades function in a similar way.
Flags: They’re uh, flags, and you stick them in the ground. People click on them for buffs. There are so many of them that I think they deserve their own category.
Buffs: These are the ones which are not flags! They give guild wide bonuses that you don’t have to find and click on and they last for a certain time. Helpful!
Consumables: These are things like guild catapults and golems, and the buffet tables, and the portable crafting tables. They’re some kind of service which create an object in the world which isn’t a flag.

So, onto the actual question: let’s incorporate.
Level-ups can be big buildings which have a large hall structure. They’re big, main social areas, and they’re big enough that you can customise the layout of furniture to a significant degree and maybe even the floorplan.
Functionalities could be smaller buildings which may be connected to the main building or they might not be. Some things, like the Deep Cave, wouldn’t make sense to attach to your main building because it’s an uh, cave.
Flags are, um… Flags. Do flags need to be changed? Maybe there could be some kind of duplication system where if you place a flag out in the world, a duplicate is also placed somewhere in the Guild Hall, so that if you want to check if your guild has any flags active, you go there and hey-o flags.
Buffs could be maybe visually represented by NPCs scooting around in your guild hall. If you have +Gold Drops active, John Smith visits your guild hall. In NPC form. He’s probably too busy to log in and do it.
Consumables could possibly have some room here. Catapults and golems would probably want to stay in WvW, but buffets could be in a hall which you go to to eat, and crafting stations could just be, uh, crafting stations.

If you feel you signed up for a job your doing it wrong. Its a free game that you choose to play, and massive grind ? who are you trying to fool ? You can achieve 80 in 5 hours.

Okay, there are a few fundamentals in this post that’re broken.

1. It is no longer possible to craft-level to 80. With crafting broken between 400 and 500, 5 professions are unable to reach cap and therefore only provide 7 levels, not 10. Even with this in mind, the amount of gold it costs to reach 500 with each of those weapon professions is quite high, about 150g. Converting from gems to gold, that’s probably at least $150.

Assuming you get the rest of those levels from CoF alt cycling, and each CoF run takes 10 minutes, that’s another 3 and a half hours. You need to be earning $100 an hour to be able to do what you claim.

2. There’s a link between “job” and “choose (not) to play”. Whether this is intentional or not, I don’t know, and I don’t know about you, but most people would probably go with “choose not to play”. This is not a healthy state of affairs for a video game.

Disagree pretty strongly. Duo is there for a reason. Solo queue only would penalize classes that depend on friendlies to work.

If it were put to a poll duo would lose big. Everyone but the people that need it see it as an unfair advantage, which is why the guys that want it need it.

Not really, just the reality of the situation, WvW since HoT has not been a success, now I am sure that is not all down to the DBL, there are many factors, point is claiming some hopelessly flawed poll is representative of what the “WvW community” wanted in this game is laughable when so much of the WvW community has left the game in that time before the poll was made.

So it’s a pretty basic tautological problem you’ve got here. You’re assuming that someone who has completely cut ties with the game such that they are paying no attention to any of their news releases or even the emails that ANet are sending them can still be considered a member of the ‘WvW community’.

Like seriously. Are these people friends of yours? Tell them to come to the forums and post. Don’t speak for them.

There is a reason WvW is down to server merges and probably the least healthy state it has ever been in, and isn’t because they provided what the community wanted.

Considering they aren’t server merges and they’ve explicitly stated what the intent of world linking is- to provide you with more variation in opponents and allies- this statement seems bizarre.

If you have so little faith in ANet, it begs the question of why you’re even here. Lazy emotional arguments aren’t going to win you much progress with anyone.
