Fix the content not the gear.
This nerf changes nothing
+1 indeed
I want a dolyak mount. That’s it.
Got to level 79, then stopped caring cause of the endless risen meat showers which I had to cleave through and the fact that there are multiple level 79 -80 instances. Not cool. :P
Could we have every siege (balistas, ac, catas, golems, rams) shows on the map like treb does ??? would help much sometimes :p
No it would become spammy.
“I wish warrior didn’t have so few runaway skills.”
I don’t have problems with the dmg output from my enemys in wvw (both power and condi). My pet has sometimes though, but this is more an issue with ranger/petdesign, not a problem with dmg in general.
Passive play.
1. Apply condition
2. Kite
3. Enemy clears condition after x damageRepeat until 3. isn’t longer possible because enemy is through his condi clears.
1. Apply direct dmg
2. Kite
3. Enemy healsRepeat until 3. isn’t longer possible because enemy has no heals anymore …
Step 2 makes no sense in a direct damage scenario, because it does not benefit damage output in melee situations. Condition damage however, still hits the enemy regardless of application.
-snip-
Just watch the champ trains coming..
Quoted for truth
Mhm, those would be some worthy changes, but I would kill for a damage build-up.
All elite specs need a nerf. Some of them, like warrior and thief, just need less of a nerf.
Yep. Buffing core specs is not an option, it will make the game even more unplayable.
Chaith described the problem perfectly imo:
No easy solutions.
Scrappers, Tempests, and Druids have over the top group support/personal survivability in the current PvP builds.
Revenant and Reaper have very easily landed, over the top pressure while still having a good amount of defensive utility.
Continuum split Moa morph & Portal is really just the last viable profession here, I mean Chronomancer.
Looking on the bright side, they’re all equally overpowered.
The only problem is that every build that players have been using for 3 years is dead. We traded a ton of builds for a few next-level builds, it pretty much killed diversity.
Let’s just think of all the top meta builds that used to be playable, right before HoT launched.
The people who politely request that everything be nerfed, they probably just want to be able to play some of these builds again:
- Rampage Warrior
- D/F Fire & Arcana Eles
- D/D Earth & Arcana Eles
- Burn Guardian
- Bunker Guardian
- Mantra Mesmer
- PU Mesmer
- Power Grenade Rifle Engi
- Signet Classic Necro
- Shadow Arts Medic Thief
- S/D Acro Thief
And the patch before that
- Cele Engi
- Condi Engi
- DPS Meditation Guard
- Shoutbow Warrior
- Power Necro
- Non-Meta builds that actually came close, like Resbot warrior, Staff ele, Fresh Air ele, Static Discharge engi, Hambow Warrior.
It’s not just about builds either, at some point we shot to balance teamfight strategies with skirmish strategies, having to sacrifice battle strength to get portal/moa, and keeping some higher risk/reward builds in the mix instead of 5 self-sustained super-soldiers.
For the first time we added traits and an entire new profession but we kissed goodbye every build that we’ve found fun over the years, as well as Thief/Warrior/Guardian. I think later in 2014 until October 2015 is the period that set the bar for PvP profession balance in this game. Balance has improved so much since the Expansion came out, but we’re still so far from being where we were.

So if I can find a handful of negative posts I’ve written then what would you say. Maybe mindless doesn’t mean what you think it means.
Vayne’s posts are anything but mindless. Even when he’s wrong, his arguments have substance to them. I don’t often agree with him. There are times I think he derails threads by getting into kittening contests. In those circumstances, he argues about the letter of a post, rather than looking at the spirit. I think he just likes to argue. Calling him a fanboi is just people trying to belittle his arguments to support their own — which is either a cheap tactic, or the mark of a weak or nonexistent argument.
That said, Vayne, a handful of negative posts is not all that much, given the total number of posts you’ve made.
Be that as it is, his posts may not be mindless, but he is barely ever right and drags so many things into the discussions that they are totally off-topic. So that’s why I come to the conclusion just to ignore what he says. Sure he has arguments, but the general consensus overcomes them.
So when you can’t overcome someone’s arguments with arguments of your own, you call them a fanboi? Seems the right way to move a discussion.
As much as you say Vayne is moving discussions completely off-topic, re-read your posts on this thread, you are doing exactly the same.
I just said his arguments are not strong enough lol. I didn’t call him a fanboy, someone else did that and I won’t call him that either. He’s just a fervent defender of this game, and he has some reasons that are acceptable, but in general Anet didn’t make up to their promises. And yes I’m being driven off-topic by reacting on people like Vayne, whom I feel are mislead in their opinions.
If you put all content released this year together you get an expansion’s worth of content, maybe more.
This is a joke?
You surely ment ‘not’ an expansion’s worth of content?
Sorry I had to skip large chunks of text because of lack of time, but tried to skim through as much as possible. I like your main ideas very much.
As much as I would hope something like this actually broke through… well it won’t happen. Anet doesn’t want to fund anything this size and they certainly do not care.
How can you blame them. ANet tells you to get rich or die trying. And to farm AP or die trying.
So people run the content for the AP, like TA Aetherpath and then say, why would I do this again. No special loot waiting, no new skill to gain, no progression at all.The only feeling of progression is by amassing AP, grinding gold and farming for either ascended or legendary weapons (and grinding for more gold).
That is it. The LS is so abyssmally bad, that no person that has ever played any other RPG would log in for the story. Events can only entertain you for so long and leveling alts reset your ascended equipment status and therefore the grind back to the start with that one.
Why do people stop playing? Most of the time I ask myself why people still play.
Eggses. My precioussss.
We have heard, and loudly and mostly in all caps, the voices of the entitled generation, the folks who believe… actually, I dono what they believe.
Now, here is the voice of the other side, the side that feels that Anet has set a fair price. The side the believes it is not just a novel idea, but ground breaking to release an expansion with the base game (They were not first. Distant Worlds did it as well… but certainly in the MMO side I think). The side that do not feel they are being robbed because someone else is getting something they did not get (Not even sure how you logic that out). The side that supports the game and acknowledged that Anet employees do not work for charity (Gasp!).
The side that will… Buy 2 copies of HoT!
Yes, I will do that, and I will gift one copy to a friend, and bring someone into the game I would not be embarrassed to see talking in map-chat.
Cheers Anet. See you in HoT!
You forgot the side that doesn’t care that new players are getting the game for free but feel that HoT is too little content to warrant a 50$ price tag and that the only reason it has a 50$ price tag is because they bundled the value of the core game into the price of the expansion. All these people want is good value for their money but so far they aren’t seeing it. Entitlement has nothing to do with it.
Pretty much this.
